DMW boss Davido who is currently in his Uk tour has just posted a photo of himself and some MTV Base officials as they hand over his 2017 awards and plaques to him. No doubt Davido is one of the most very successful artist in the Nigeria music industry currently as he has proven himself by winning series of awards last year. OBO as he is some times called is not just a good artist with good stage charisma he is also a very good manager as he never relent to sign any refined talent that he has seen, he is also a very good philanthropist as he shows love to the less privileged If you ask me i will say he deserve all the awards and even more to come. Popular comedian I Go Dye has yesterday taken to his IG handle to call on all Nigeria politician to stop celebrating corruption, as he demand the removal of Zuma’s statue from Imo state. He wrote: PLEASE KINDLY REMOVE THE STATUE OF ZUMA IN YOUR STATE AS A MARK OF RESPECT TO THE VOICES OF REASON. For the first time, another African leader has done the needful, by listening to the voice of reason, objectivity and took a bow from service because of the truth.Ex president Zuma has done what is honourable, inspite of all the accolades and bestowed on him, I respect him for doing what an honorable man will do. It’s high time,Nigerian politicians should stop celebrating corruption; they should be mindful of those they adore and honour as their heroes. It takes so much to validate the true reflection of a man,but at all times, integrity should be the bases of all standards. When we chose to eulogies, bestow awards or build a statue to honour someone as a monument, please let us be mindful that history will subsequently judge us, if really our precision of facts is absolutely without error? Consequently, I kindly appeal to the donor of a statue in his honour in my home country Nigeria,Imo State precisely, to respect Zuma’s courage for stepping down on the grounds of corruption allegations,to kindly remove the statue as a mark of respect to the voices of reason and truth, so that posterity will not judge him as some one who is supporting corruption . What ever decision, His Excellency, Rochas Okorocha to take on these premise; with all due respect to him that his right; but as a young student of history I am optimistic that those that will rewrite the wrong’s and right’s of today will remember him standing for or against the voice of truth and reason,by taking pride to speak or act at a time when many will ignore the truth because of personal gratification. As you continue to defend Nigeria with quiet dignity. I Sergeant OSCAR LAM proudly proclaim loudly my appreciation for the acts of service rendered as part of our daily routine. I want to appreciate the efforts of all brave police officers who everyday confront dangers so it doesn’t get to our families. I want to appreciate our brave police officers who courageously meet test after test to keep the populace safe. I want to appreciate our brave police officers who put others safety before their own and make people know that loving Nigeria means loving one another. I want to appreciate our brave police officers who don’t see people when at risk as strangers but see them as family. I want to appreciate our brave police officers who in the line of duty lay down their lives for others. Some brave police officers have died actively protecting people who are total strangers. On Saturday 10th February a brave police officer, the O/C SARS Saki unit was killed by Fulani herdsmen while actively protecting the populace. Just yesterday we heard about how a team of mobile policemen was attacked by Fulani herdsmen and about four of them missing while actively protecting other people’s lives. Everyday we always wake up to the news of unfortunate killings of police officers. Greater love has no one than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. JOHN 15:13 I want you to know that this police officers are humans just like you. They have spouses, friends and families who loves them with all their hearts just like you. I want you to know that nobody would want to wish his family, friends or loved one’s such tragedy. A tragedy wished upon by no one’s mother. A tragedy wished upon by no one’s family. A tragedy wished upon by no sane human. I sincerely pray for their spouses, families, friends and loved one’s to find some peace one day. I hope their loved one’s hearts begin to mend as they’ve suffered loss certainly like no other. I want you to know that you’re in our thoughts and prayers and I hope that their loved one is with the Lord above. Police is the only job where you are hated for both doing and not doing your job. I want to assure Nigerians that we will not be intimidated. We will not back down. We will protect the weak. we will stand for those that can’t. We will shield them with our lives. We will put on our uniform everyday and stand for what’s right and just. We will stay in the good fight and conquer any evil that rears it’s ugly face. We are relentless defenders. we are police officers. we are soldiers of the law. Police officers have a purpose. Our purpose is to do the things you shouldn’t have to, can’t do, or don’t want to do. We do it by choice. We do it proudly. We do it without hesitation. To us is entrusted the honor of the Force. we must serve honestly, faithfully and if need be lay down our lives as others have done before me rather than swerve from the path of duty. Oluwa Oscar Lam famous police sag is on it again as he has written yet again about the Nigeria Police Force, he titled this article ‘Police Officers Welfare, Housing And Accomodation) In this his new article he has pointed out lots of fact about the Nigeria Police, i believe the article will serve as an eye opener to the masses. police is the most poorly funded organization in the country. Despite the rot, there are still good officers who can pass any integrity test they may be subjected to. The federal government has systematically exposed to a situation that literally forces them into various malpractices they are accused of. The federal government needs to empower the police by adjusting their welfare. welfare here means increments of salary and making available good and habitable shelter with modern equipment and good allowance. The police is a regimented organization and ideally police officers should live in the barracks where they could be gathered when the need arises. but in the case of Nigeria police, most policemen live in separate places while a few others sleep in the office. In march 2010, The officer in charge of the federal capital territory police command provost died while sleeping in the office at the command headquarters in garki Abuja because he doesn’t have accommodation in the barracks so has to sleep in the office. police barracks are death traps because most of the buildings are leaking and dilapidated. When you visit most of the police Division, apart from arms and ammunitions which may be intact, it is very rear to see good chairs, table fan etc, at the Charge Room. The Admin office is nothing to write about. No Sets of functioning computer and other vital stationeries, rats and cockroaches find their houses in personnel files. Yet, they are looking up for prompt and active administration No serviceable power generator for the Division. The DPO source for money to furnish his/her office from anywhere, yet they are looking for justice. An injured Policeman in the cause of his duty is abandoned to carry his cross. Yet, they are looking for commitment from others. Policemen take out of their meager salary to procure their personal needs like uniform, buttons, belt, shoe, beret, lineyard, even at the detriment of your family luxury. and we have kit stores. The patrol vans were either donated by state govt, companies or individuals and the fueling and maintenance is the responsibility of the P&G and his team, yet they are shouting extortion and looking up for Quick Response Unit. The DCO and his/her IPOs manages themselves at the DCB, no provision for writing materials and transport fares. Case Files, Statement forms, Bail Bonds, and other stationeries are bought by IPOs….in this case they have no option than to obtain these logistics from the complainant and risk being termed the bad eggs. Or use their meager salary to fund the investigation. Transfer everyday and no allowance nor vehicle to convey the Officers and men yet the police authority don’t care where the transferee will put his/her head before settling down in the new place. Yet, they are shouting ineffectiveness. When deployed to the northeast for special operations, they will have to transport themselves while their colleagues from other sister agencies are well taken care of. How do you give a hungry man without decent accommodation and allowance AK47 to work? Is that not a suicide mission? even the inspector general of police (IGP) earns lesser salary amongst his equals. I no am not the spokesperson for the police, one thing I no for sure is that the society has a way of moulding or influencing our behaviors. for instance the same Nigeria police that is termed most corrupt, still perform better than their peers when on foreign mission. why because they are being properly taken care of according to UN standard. Now exchange a US, UK and Nigeria police, you’ll see that Nigeria police will perform better when in the US because of society. Government should look into the welfare of police for them to perform effectively. Considering the above mentioned claims, it wouldn’t be out of place to deduce that government is largely to be blamed for the corruption in the Nigeria police. Police is your friend, Help the police to serve you better. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. God bless Nigeria police . #Proudpoliceman #GallantMopol #SergeantOscar Source: http://omysound.com/police-officers-welfare-housing-accommodations-oluwa-oscar-lam/ |
It is very common and easy to hear people say the police have failed in protecting lives and property anytime there is a civil disturbance or any crime. One thing people don't take into account is why is the failure? In order to function as humans, there are basic things we need like oxygen, water and food among many. The police too requires some basic things to effectively work. They are not spirits. At the risk of whatever consequences that could arise as a result of this post, please find below the budget requirements for the police in 2016 and 2017 vis-a-vis what was allocated/released to them In 2016, the police submitted an OVERHEAD budget of N90,645,426,172. The National Assembly in its WISDOM appropriated N9,250,656,307 representing less than 10% of the request. Until the year ended, only N6,369,343,519.18 was released. In the same year, a CAPITAL budget of N331,000,000,000 was made. Out of this, the National Assembly appropriated N16,107,272,000. Until the year phased out, N10,026,818,000 was the amount released. In 2017, the police sent in an overhead budget of N90,645,462,172 and N11,655,565,307 was appropriated out of which only N5,026,115,986.8 was released. In the same year, a capital budget of N162,913,472,672 was submitted. Of this, N20,198,272,000 was appropriated. As at almost end of the year, only N3,000,000,000 was released. The UN standard is ONE policeman to 400 persons. The UN here refers to a fully kitted policeman who undergoes training and retraining continously and whose welfare is not being compromised. It is ONE policeman to 800 persons here. In terms of salaries, I have no issues when an American, British or Australian police is paid higher than the Nigeria Police. What I find amazing is how a Cameroonian and a Ghanaian police earns much more than our police officers do. LIST OF MINIMUM WAGES BY COUNTRIES OF THE WORLD. 1. Nigeria - $38 (N18,000). 2. Algeria - $175 (N83,000). 3. Belgium - $1,738 (N810,000). 4. Cameroun - 36, 270CFA ($75) N38,000. 5. Chad - $120 (N60,000). 6. Denmark - $1,820 (N900,000). 7. Libya - $430 (N190,000). 8. Japan - $1000 (N450,000). 9. Cote D'ivoire -36,607CFA $72. 10. New Zealand -$3,187 (N1.4m). 11. Luxemburg - $2,500 (N1.1m). 12. Spain - $760. (N300,000). 13. Switzerland - $5,620 - N2.5m. 14. USA - $11 per hour. Ironically, Nigeria politicians earn the highest salaries the whole world. In Luxemburg where minimum wage is $2,500, their lawmakers are paid $7,400. In Libya where minimum wage is $430, law-makers earn $3000. In Nigeria where minimum wage is $38 (N18,000), law-makers earn $65,000 (N29m). The comparison is alarming. Let's solve a little maths..... In 2010 you earn #50,000 naira, A Dollar was #160 Naira, that means you earn 315 Dollars per month. In 2018,your salary remains #50,000 naira, that means you now earn about 137 Dollars per month. In other words it means you have spent about 8years of your life working backwards. Are you retrogressing or progressing ![]() How long will this continue ![]() What magic will the police do to perform as required by the UN with these little resources? Put your self in a police man's shoe's, chances are you won't like what you see in your face. Remember, police officers risk their lives to save yours. It's not something they do, it's something they are. No matter what names they call us, I encourage all policemen to keep doing what is right..... We are what stand between good and evil. The police takes the blame for a long systemic failure! I urge all Nigerians to let the people in government no that police officers are suffering. At all material time, most Nigerians have always bedevilled members of the Nigeria Police Force as the most corrupt public servants. It's like virtually all other agencies of the state are made up of incorruptible angels, while those of the Nigeria Police are people of irredeemable light fingers. But is this true? I doubt much ! The facts are now in public domain, that of all the public servants in Nigeria, those of the Nigeria Police seem to be the most incorruptible. Since the commencement of this ongoing war against corruption, not one Police officer has been fingered or indicted for corruption or corrupt practices. This is not the case with other sister agencies and even civilian outfits in the public service, where virtually all of them have had some of their members picked up and interrogated for corruptly enriching themselves through looting of public treasury. Some very senior officers of these sister agencies are still being held in custody till now, while others are facing criminal trials for corruption charges. The facts are all there for us to see. One very crucial fact of this anti corruption crusade which most members of the public don't seem to appreciate, is that while President Buhari is the commander-in-chief of the battle, it is the officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force that are the foot soldiers in the war front. Since its inception till date, the EFCC has always been commanded by police officers, while over 80 percent of it's operatives as well as those of ICPC, are drawn from the Police Force. So, all the astounding revelations and bewildering findings being uncovered daily in the course of this war, have been through the unrelenting efforts of the officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force. Unfortunately, not much of this fact is being acknowledged by most Nigerians. All that our people are always quick at broadcasting to the world about their Police, is any isolated erring of a member of the Force, no matter how minor. Sad ! Get me right. Iam not saying that the Nigeria Police Force is made up of angels or some kind of celestial bodies. No. That is not the point I'm making here. Indeed, one must be naiive to think so of an outfit of about 500,000 personnel. The Force is of course made up of human beings and fellow Nigerians who are quite susceptible to human frailties. But what I'm saying here is that available facts and figures do not support the demonisation of the Force by most Nigerian cynics. It must be known that even the erring members of the Force are always dealt with summarily by the Force, while the criminal suspects among them are never shielded. They are promptly arrested and exposed to criminal processes accordingly. In fact, I doubt much if any other public service outfit has a more effective administrative disciplinary control on their personnel than that of the Nigeria Police ! In consideration of the foregoing, it will not be out of place for Nigeria Police to demand for unreserved apologies from the condemning members of the public. The Force is never what they paint it to be, it is indeed mostly comprised of decent ladies and refined gentlemen. I swear ! TRUE OR FALSE? I am a proud police officer of Nigeria. Police is a noble and honorable profession. Each of us as policemen must be committed to maintaining the reputation of all of us. And all of us must be committed to maintaining the reputation of each of us. In the police force, two, three,or five traitors are detected who are really working for criminals. When we cleanse the police of them, the problem will be simplified a lot. Criminals will have no one to contact. They will be left without informers. We should try as much as possible to win back the public confidence in the police. Ensure you perform at your best doing the work you pledge to do and do it well. Always believe in dedication. Always believe in selflessness. Always believe in honor. Always believe in compassion. Always believe in courage. Always believe in bravery. Always believe in laying down your life for peace. Always believe to stand against injustice. Always believe we will fight against corrupt officers. Remember if we come together as one united, dedicated and incorrupt organization, we'll be an unstoppable force. Remember if we come together as one united, dedicated and incorrupt organization, we'll win back the public confidence. Remember when you have police officers who abuse citizens, you erode public confidence in the police. Remember that if you do something wrong,no one forgets. Remember that police have a calling. Its not about making money, its about making communities safe. Caring for children and doing what it takes to stop someone from hurting another person. Please always remember the oath of allegiance. Please remember you swore never to betray the police, your integrity, your character or the public trust. Please remember you swore to always uphold the constitution, your community and the police force. Always have the courage to hold yourself and others accountable for all actions. This is a clarion call to all police officers. Be a police officer with a difference. Be a good policeman. Always remember the oath of allegiance. Let me remind you of the oath you swore. The Police officers Oath I OSCAR LAM.DO SWEAR,, THAT - I WILL WELL AND TRULY SERVE - OUR SOVEREIGN COUNTRY AND STATE - AS A POLICE OFFICER WITHOUT FAVOR OR AFFECTION - MALICE OR ILL-WILL - UNTIL I AM LEGALLY DISCHARGED, THAT I WILL SEE AND CAUSE OUR COMMUNITY’S PEACE TO BE KEPT AND PRESERVED - AND THAT - I WILL PREVENT TO THE BEST OF MY POWER - ALL OFFENSES AGAINST THAT PEACE - AND THAT - WHILE I CONTINUE TO BE A POLICE OFFICER - I WILL - TO THE BEST OF MY SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE - DISCHARGE ALL THE DUTIES THEREOF - FAITHFULLY - ACCORDING TO LAW. SO HELP ME GOD. I want to use this medium to challenge all police officers to always discharge their duties with integrity. INTEGRITY...... Is doing the right thing even when no one is watching. CS - LEWIS. Remember you're working for a cause not applause. I want all police officers to be the change they seek in others. Am proud to be a police man. Am honored to protect my country. Change begins with me and you. Oluwa Oscar Lam a Nigerian police officer took to his Facebook page to create awareness about the Nigeria Police Force (NPF). Oluwa Oscar Lam Popularly known as Oscar has recently made a post on his facebook page titled 'Dilemma Of A Policeman' in his write up, he made mention of how the police go about putting their lives in line to save guard and co-ordinate the society. He also mentioned how the society has rejected the common police man even when a policeman deserves more from both the government and the society. He Wrote: DILEMMA OF A POLICEMAN Police job is one of the hardest but least payed jobs. Its a tough job which rarely receives appreciation. Police officers never go off duty. Everyday we must see the darkest aspects of this world. We are dedicated public servants who have sworn to protect public safety at anytime and place that the peace is threatened. We may not be able to save the world or solve every problem. But we do work hard to make a difference in every area we are called upon. We save with conviction. We serve with compassion. We protect with courage. We put our life in the line with no super power. We put our life in the line with no ability to fly or disappear...... Above all no invulnerability to bullets. I have been where you fear to be. I have seen what you fear to see. I have done what you fear to do. I am the person you lean upon. I am the one you cast your scorn upon. I am the one you bring your troubles to. All this things I have done for you. Yet,we're never appreciated. You call us names and wish we didn't exist. But if something happens to you or someone you love, you are sure to rely on us ASAP. You insult me and call me names but when you need me,you call me and I'll come and protect even you who said you hate the police. Why? Because my work is to protect you who hate me. We are what keep the society in order. We are what stand between good and evil. Without us we would have utter chaos and mayhem. Such is a police officer's dilemma. Police officers are the unwanted, Doing the unthinkable, For the ungrateful. Police officers do so much for so long, with so little. Not everyone can do what we do. I didn't choose this life. It chose me. We are doing it not for the money. We are doing it not for fame. We are doing it not for recognition. For most of us its a calling deep in our soul to help protect people who need it. Police is not a job. Police is a calling. Police officers are super heroes. Proud to be a police officer. Such is the dilemma of a police officer. Please ruminate on this piece and tell your loved one's that all policemen are not bad just as all people in any sub group are not all bad. Unfortunately the bad tends to be more dramatic and adrenaline-fuelling thereby remembered more than the good, calm and peaceful people do. Am honoured to be a policeman. Am proud to be a policeman. Famous Comedian I GoDye took to his instagram handle yesterday to write a piece to Ex vice president Attiku Abubakar. In his write up he has defended the Nigeria youths and the need for the youth to be involved in politics, he also pointed out some of the wrongs that has been done by past governance Of Attiku Abubaka. He Wrote: "Don't use sentimental empathy on the youths to express your political ambitions. Sir, you are one of those that have immensely benefited from Nigeria since your birth in 1946. Having worked for 20years with the Nigeria Customs where you retired at the age of 43 in 1989 as Deputy Director, your bucket list sure looks good because you were obviously employed at youth 23. In 1999 you became governor of Adamawa and ultimately the Vice President, all of these you achieved at 53. What did you do during your time in that exalted position? When will the youths like in your time get a chance? am motivated to speak, based on your statement : A party that does not take the youths into account is a dying party. The future belong to young. Please which of the future? Remarkably, between 1999 and 2007 that you were the Vice president of Nigeria, it is recorded that tertiary institutions witnessed several strikes that wasted seventeen months ,three weeks and three days.Within this period, what did you do? If social support were given to youths then, their children will be between 18 and 20years during the 2019 elections, obviously they would have willingly voted for you or anyone that you endorse in 2019.This is the essence of making sacrifices for the future generation. You cannot be credited to have been a philanthropic to the youths. The recent revocation of the NPA contract with Intel, your company,is the major issue. As a company either, the people in the region you operated cannot accredit Intel to have provided credible support for the youths or built skills acquisition centers to curb unproductivity as part of it's cooperate social responsibility , which has resulted to many youths embarking on the sub- sahara deserts route treking to Europe, which has claimed many lives. Your excellency, sir Atiku Abubakar, please don't use sentimental empathy on the youths to express your political ambitions, because by 2019 the youths are preparing to substantiate the real economical, political and progressive change. I kindly recommend that you should advocate for process that will afford us the opportunity of a youthful leadership in the 2019 election. Thanks Amb Francis Source: http://omysound.com/dont-use-sentime…ons-godye-attiku/ |

'Beginning from today, it is my prayer for you that when it is your time of elevation, ancient landmarks will bow to your entry. Laws will be suspended in your favor. You shall be lifted high and led to your enthronement. Nations will celebrate you and God will wipe away your tears of pain and sufferings. For what God is about to do in your life, many will hear and their hopes shall be revived. So shall it be in Jesus name. Amen' Source: http://omysound.com/linda-ikejie-say…ous-picture-self/ |
Dear Davido Last night must have been another great moment for you just as it has been for your counter part Wizkid who won the international best act of the year. But i see haters trying to make you feel bad, I jumped off my bed this morning just to see that you have been crowned with another award yet again, Best African act of the year, you are indeed the best of your kind. Scrolling through social media sites, i see what the fans of your counterpart has been saying to you, about how you refuse to upload your awards… they also said lot’s of hideous things just to make you feel bad, but the last time i checked, you’re not the type that feel bad over little things, as perhaps you’ve gotten used to the negative fans and all their foolish tantrums already…. If it’s easy they should go and win MTV Europa award and then win best African act of the year in the same year. Na wa oo! You should never in any way be compared to wizkid because you are a man of your own style and attitude…. I wonder what all this wizkid fans want from you, they said you lack manners and that you brag a lot, I say you only flaunt your blessings. they say your voice sounds like that of a frog, I say you’re original. they say you buy songs and that you can not freestyle like wizkid, i say you understand the music business more than wizkid does, because it is better to buy a reasonable song, add some touches and make it unique then release to your audience, than to sing and freestyle about fantasies all the time while ass licking USA musicians. They will never cease to blab about you just to make you feel low self esteemed, but am sorry to say to them that low self esteem is never a part of you. And the last time i checked wizkid brags too in his various songs like, show the money, babanla, and lots more. History has shown in different occasion that Wizkid brags as much as you brag too.. Same reason why they say they hate you, i will say is the same reason why you also have lots of commited fans both home and abroad, you have lots of top achievement too, but lots of this haters wont talk about it, you won MTV best international act of the year, because wizkid won the best international act of the year at MOBO awards does not make him so special for me, You too have as many awards as wizkid has, after all some years back you came into the game and won BET awards even before wizkid dreamt of winning it. I will say every artist have their own selling point, and yours is the OBO logo (Omo Baba Olowo), and i enjoy the way you fall some artist hand thinking they are the best. You are just the best, you are not just an artist you are also a good philanthropist with all your good wills and help you have rendered to the poor…I admire you a lot. Lastly without you in the Nigeria music industry scene, Their will be no big star like Wizzy, you are his major challenge, never feel below him for nothing, he has done nothing at all compared to where i see you heading to with the speed of light, it is a free world so just do your thing as it pleases you more and remain original, more strength and awards plus achievement fall on you. Your humble fan. Anonymous: Source: http://omysound.com/open-letter-davido/ |
