I have dual citizenship. Nigerian/British. When going to America, I get an ESTA using my British passport. Get the 10 year visa in your other passport by applying in that country. tasho105: Hello Nairalanders,
For a person with dual citizenship, ...naija and one of the islands in the south pacific that is not visa free to US. - Is it possible to go for interview in Nigeria and get a 10 year visa on the other passport, instead of the Nigerian pport that they issue 2 years visa....prefers a 10 years visa than the 2 years |

Hey fam,
Long time. Was on holiday for about a month. My husband used his visa twice. Once in February for an 8 day stay and then again in March for 4 days. First time- Question asked at POA was what our relationship was and how long he's staying for. Second time- He was asked- Are you visiting and that was it.
All the best, guys! |

Apologies for the late response. I was on holiday and didn't log in. Please use the guide I sent. That should answer your question. Breakdown the entire cost- What you spend, remove it from balance and ensure you still have at least half available. Your uncle can provide food and housing, yea. Uzoamaka123: Hi Amelia,
Please I need your advise ❤️ Here’s my situation atm My name is Uzo.
I’m 25. I’ll like to apply for uk visiting visa. Can I apply with a balance of 1.5m ? My uncle(late dads brother ) is a Uk citizen and he’ll be sending a letter of invitation so I’ll be staying with him for about 10 days during the trip.
What’s the best way to breakdown my situation to the visa officer.
Should I state I’ll be paying my ticket myself and would have extra 200 pounds for shopping while my uncle would cater for accommodation, feeding etc
Im also getting prepared to submit my Canadian visa application so I’ve built my account with salary to show monthly (300k )
What’s the best way to package my application. How many month bank statement do I need?
I look forward to your response.
Thanks ❤️ |

Everything looks good but make sure your cover letter is strong, you’re clear on what you’re going for and you also include your budget. Do not start with a zero balance. But I also believe that apart from the 1.8m, you should have a savings account. My husband’s current account didn’t have much- it was just about 2m- similar to yours but he submitted our savings account as well which had about £25k. He even submitted the one year statement showing consistent inputs in the account and zero withdrawals. So, make sure you also have a savings account as that truly legitimizes your claim of leading a great career. Married? Add marriage certificate and bio data of spouse and explain what your spouse does and your entire family situation. My husband’s cover letter explained- the nature of his business, number of staff who rely on him for monthly salary, also reinforced his monthly revenue and even stated they have an expansion plan etc. kizonero: Good evening great men and women in the house, i appreciate you all for your endless effort in answering our questions here. May God continuly bless you all. I have read and read and still reading. And I will be asking questions from time to time until mission accomplished. Pls do not be offended.
BANK STATEMENT THINGS
Pls kindly check below my proposed analysis on that aspect and tell me if I score 10/10..
Monthly Income - #385,000 Monthly expenses - #70,000 Disposable Income - #315,000
That is to say in six (6) months x DI =
#1,890,000
Budget Expenditure (BE)
Flight - #380,000 Entertainment - #100,000 Transportation - #80,000 Little shopping - #50,000 Accommodation - free (as I have a host) Feeding - free (as my host will handle that)
TOTAL - #610,000 (BE)
That is to say that my 2months DI is in agreement with my BE....
Please what is your take on the above.
Again, I want to ask, can I start this acct building with a zero open Balance or I should lodge in some money then start the following month?
I am being concerned as ECO may want to read a different meaning to that how come I claim to be working for years yet started with a zero open acct.
(2) For the UK visit visa documents I have,
* Employment letter from employer * Leave letter * Introduction letter * Recommendation letter from employer * Scanned copy of passport data page * Employment ID card * Scanned copy of my UAE expired evisa * Scanned copy of Ghana and UAE stamp * Bank Acct Statement for 6months * Payslip for 6months
Thank you for taking out your time to read. Await your responds |

Travel update. Biometrics for husband- 20 Oct 2021 Visa granted- 31 Dec 2021 Collection email - 12 Jan 2022
Full PTA granted to both of us using GTB ($500 cash and $3500 on a prepaid card). GTB is using this to manage their PTA.
We left Lagos using Virgin Atlantic. When we got to the border, we were directed to use the British line for families or people with the old British passport. Since I’m British but couldn’t use the E gates so we used that other British line to accommodate my husband’s Nigerian passport.
When we got to the officer, he asked what relationship we have. I said we’re married and he laughed and said- he didn’t want to assume as we may have been brother and sister. He asked how long we’re staying for and my husband said- a week. That was it. No questions on funds available etc.
Meanwhile, our Neighbours were being drilled about their relationship. There were three of them and they asked if they’re family. Woman said- yes. What’s your relationship? Woman said- they’re my in laws. The officer said- please explain. Woman said- this is my son’s wife. Officer asked many more questions which she couldn’t answer. Then she changed it to son’s friend’s wife. They were arguing back and forth. Please be straight forward with your answers at the border.
All the best, guys! |

Wow. So sorry about that. Just fix the CAC issue, look at your account statement and make sure it matches the invoices. One other issue I see which could be flagged next time is that your profile and evidence may seem like you've aggrandized yourself but your statement/ income isn't matching up to the perception you are showing. I think you need to work on that as well. All the best! BarbieKogi: As of when i applied in November, my CAC registration was active. For example: Flight- 250K Entertainment- 200k Shopping- 150K Transport- 100k Accommodation- Free as I'll be hosted by my cousin Food- Free and will be provided for by my cousin Also, clean up your statement and provide evidence of other ties to show you're not a potential flight risk. Yikes. Thanks for the correction. I totally missed that. @kizonero please take note that’s there’s a 5k processing fee Yea BTA is for approved business specific travel of which you need to show clear evidence of while PTA is the regular personal allowance for tourists leef2022: Hello AmeliaT pls permit me to add 1. There's a processing fee of #5000 for PTA forex transaction. You may not have noticed as it is very little when compared to the success of the transaction. BTA, I think that business travel Allowance for business owners but you maybe right. However, to avoid meeting dead ends if for tourism and travel I advise you pick PTA. Thanks, have a great Sunday |

You can change your mind but if you say you're staying at a hotel, the funds for the hotel must be accounted for in your budget and must be in your account. I've never heard of anyone who stated they were staying at a hotel and then changed to friend's house who had immigration issues. You could have actually wanted to stay at a hotel and then was offered hosting by a friend. I however don't think this should be a constant trend. In my opinion, if a tourist constantly states they'll stay at a hotel generating #500 quid for the economy but everytime, end up staying with a friend, it could raise a red flag for me that the applicant is deceptive. If 10,000 tourists do this, it means they're giving the nation false expectation of 5m GBP in Hotel tourism revenue which is never realized. I don't think they track this though. Lol. Even illegal immigrants; they have a hard time keeping track of. But you never know how strict they'll get. You can get up to $4000 in PTA or $5000 in BTA. The processing fee is about 5k plus you need to make the naira equivalent of the amount you want available based on the prevailing rate which is about 419. It is not a requirement but it is much more advantageous to buy PTA at 419 than to pay for the same dollars at 575. kizonero: Wow! You are wonderful. Thank you so much. It helps. Just that I still want to ask a question base on that number three.
What if I decide to book for hotel reservation to pay on arrival for the tourist visa, but then i decide to sleep in a friend's place over there. Mind you it's tourist visa without any invite. Is it possible?
Lastly, what is the PTA fee like? Will it be required and how do I go about it and how much is it?
Thank you once more for your time Amelia |

Hiya, No worries. 1 X2 just means two times. X4 = Four times. If your statement shows you receive 10m income within 6 months, ideal thing is to pro rate by multiplying by 2 to get the annual income. I.e. 20m. 2 If you earn 500k a month, your budget should ideally not exceed your 2 month income i.e. 1m. People have been rejected and the reason given was that the budget for the trip was equal to 4 month's of their income which the ECO believed was too much to spend on a trip. 3 If you're staying with a friend, you will need to signify this on the form, including their name, home address, phone number and email address. The friend will also send an invitation letter, copy of their passport data page as well as a copy of their leave to remain if they're not a citizen. If possible, their mortgage/ownership docs or tenancy agreement (if they agree as those are sensitive documents) to show they have a means to truly accommodate you. The friend may also be called to verify their relationship with you. I hope this was helpful! All the best! kizonero: @ameliaT, you have really been of great help here. Providing all the necessary information, I really appreciate. And to other gurus in the house, I appreciate you all.
Pls I am kind of a slow learner, but I understand very well if broken well for me. Pls can you explain further to me on number 5&6. What do you really mean by X2 & X4 ?
Secondly, in terms of accomodation, u said " unless you are staying with a friend". I want to know, does it mean that that friend, will send an invite. Or how? Pls explain this further for me.
Thank you for reading.
Happy Sunday to you all |

Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by AmeliaT: 2:40am On Feb 20, 2022 |
Sorry about this. Refusal is straight forward. I see 3 issues. 2million annual income is too small. Your statements didn't correlate with the claimed income. Your statement doesn't have the required volume and sustainability so you don't come across as someone earning enough to afford this holiday and return. The profile looks fishy. You have two rejections; a third one could be dangerous. Two day course will signal desperation and deception. Retain your tourist visa but only when your circumstances have changed significantly. Build your travel history before going back. The UK is NOT the end all, be all. I have been to 36 countries by God's grace and was born/lived in England for many years and I can tell you it isn't in my top 20 or even 30 countries. I only go back `because it is home- family responsibilities, health maintenance and shopping. Otherwise, The UAE, South Africa, Qatar, Barbados, The Bahamas etc. offer way much more fun and excitement. My Tips1 Pay yourself a salary into your personal account every month and that should be the primary income there. Obviously, the salary should be a logical amount that's healthy and not eroding your business revenue/profit. 2 You Should present the personal and business account but make sure your business account is active on CAC. 3 Do not resort to inflation, sending through large deposits within the six-month period. 4 Spend as you normally would in your personal account, leaving some each month so that is accumulated to a healthy balance. 5 Review the statement first before you indicate your income, expenditure, and budget. Make sure the annual income matches the statement income. Annual income should ideally be X2 of your 6month statement. The expenditure should also follow the same principles. 6 Budget for the trip should ideally not exceed 2 months’ income. There is no hard and fast rule about this, but people have been rejected for a budget that was X4 their income. 7 However, ensure this budget covers your entire trip. Breakdown flight, accommodation, food, transport and a little bit for shopping and entertainment (not mandatory). Below is my personal budget guide which I came up with myself and is by no means prescriptive, but you can review, and tweak as needed. This will help guide to ensure your budget, length of trip and available balance are all in sync. Flight- £564 Accommodation- £50/Day (unless you’re staying with a friend) Food- £20/day Transport- £10-15/day Optional Shopping- Variable Entertainment- Variable 8 I personally advise that you try to ensure that the available balance in your account is 2X the budget for the trip. Because they expect that you have funds to go back to when you get back home. So, you can use your available balance to work backwards to see the budget you have available for the trip and therefore the number of days you can afford to stay. Others have gotten their visa with a 500k balance but it’s better safe than sorry. These are my thoughts and of course there have been exceptions to the rules, both positive and negative. All the best! meljoe: Please I applied for a tourist visa august/ September last year and I was refused … I want to apply again , please what should I do ? I don't think it works that way. People with a 5m balance can get rejected while others with 1m get the visa. 1 Do not resort to inflation, sending through large deposits within the six-month period. So, money should definitely have been there before the 6 months; talkless of 30 days. 2 The money isn't meant to be idle. That's trying to game the system and you'll be flagged. Spend as you normally would in your personal account, leaving some each month so that is accumulated to a healthy balance. Your balance will be reviewed versus your claimed income, expenses and proof of job or business. 3 Review the statement first before you indicate your income, expenditure, and budget. Make sure the annual income matches the statement income. Annual income should ideally be X2 of your 6month statement. The expenditure should also follow the same principles. 4 Budget for the trip should ideally not exceed 2 months’ income. There is no hard and fast rule about this, but people have been rejected for a budget that was X4 their income. 5 However, ensure this budget covers your entire trip. You can use any airline as long as they end up in the UK. I only use Virgin as I prefer direct flights even though they are more expensive. A friend bought Royal Air Maroc and then they stopped them from flying to the UK. She had to hustle for a refund etc. Emirates also had some drama. So, those are the risks with non direct flights. But feel free to use any. Do note however that the flights that layover at airports in Europe require Schenghen transit- KLM, Air france, Lufthansa etc unless you have an American visa or Canadian PR etc. I classify my flights using these four tiers. 1. Direct and pricey- BA, Virgin 2. Non Direct which requires Transit visa- KLM, Air france, Lufthansa 3. "Cheap" Non Direct but no transit visa required- Kenya, Ethiopia, Rwandair, Egypt Air, Royal Air Maroc 4. Non Direct but no transit visa required (more expensive than above)- Emirates, Qatar, Turkish Ruby105: @AmeliaT Good evening pls I need your help , please I want to confirm if I can use other airline for my travel itinery or must it be British Airways or virgin Atlantic , please anyone with a valid answer should please help me ... Sure! /www. tradesystem. gov. ng Click on applicant, fill in all the information. Attach your passport, visa and ticket. Select the bank you want and also include written instruction for the bank to debit you for the amount stated. Once done, forward the screenshot of application and confirmation email to your relationship manager to facilitate. You can keep tracking to see as it moves from reviewer to supervisor to approved. Then, just keep your fingers crossed and pray. Make sure you do the application 14 days before the trip so you have enough time because even after approval, there's a queue for disbursement. Sorry about this. The monthly expenditure is just too low. It’s self explanatory. It looks like a well coached application. How many people in lagos with a family spend just £180 a month but still afford to travel. Sorry doesn’t add up. Your balance is also different to what you declared on the form. Use Oanda converter next time. What’s your travel history like? I suggest you build that first and then reapply. My husband had large deposits and honestly just filled the form out organically. We didn’t discover nairaland until after the application but because he has extensive travel history, I believe it helped his case and he had good finances. I believe they create a profile of you based on your answers just like the Americans but they go a step further to Audit your documents to check for compliance and synergy. I hear you but you submitted within 7 months of validity. Worst case, they will ask you to submit a new passport to receive the visa (which you thankfully have already); this is what Canada does. However, you cut it too close. Next time, I advise you renew first. But you are good to go for now. But if you're not at rest, feel free to send them an email letting them know this but I doubt that info will even be passed to the ECO johnJS: Ok thank you. My worry was that they could take a negative decision based on the validity of the passport submitted. They have no way of knowing i have obtained a new passport. It sounds like i don't have anything to be concerned about. But even as I write I'm now thinking it's up to me to write to inform them of this. Thank you once again. |

I don't see the issue here. You should go back with the new passport attached to the old one. Cheers! johnJS: Good day all, I am new to these pages but kudos to those who take the time to provide robust answers to enquires here. It is laudable and encouraging.
I applied for a 2 year visit visa at the end of November last year (I have previously been issued UK visas with between 6 months to 5 years validity)
However my passport expires at the end of June this year. In November when I applied this gave me over 7 months passport validity but today no decision has been made.
I opted for the “keep my passport” option when I applied as UKVI advised possible delays and I have now obtained a new passport but I do not know what the possibilities are. I mean for when a decision will hopefully be made soon. Will I be able to tender my new passport when the visa is hopefully approved? I have just learned of paid mail on these pages, do I need to write a paid mail detailing the issue?
Advice and similar experiences are much welcome.
Thank you. |

Oh no. Sorry to hear that. Please, take the action that Leef advised. All the best! Dinoforyou00: I heard it takes a long time to get validated. I applied on February 8, and I’ve sent a lot of mails to my processing bank, still I haven’t gotten any validation mail |

Thanks a lot, Leef. Your responses are always detailed and helpful. I completed the form last night and got the queue email and reached out to my account officer immediately. I will follow up with him today and send him all the info- Tickets, passports etc. and ask him to please accelerate. Thanks, again. leef2022: Most banks advise you put in an application 14 days to your intended date of departure(for a personal travel Allowance)
Once you have successfully filled and submitted an application on the platform you would get a mail that acknowledges your application for PTA and to notify you that your application is on the queue.
Depending on what bank you chose and her branch determines how long the process is to be completed. Also, factors that causes delay are; long queues, some days the platform would be down and as such the banks and her branches would not be able to review PTA applications for that day, no forex funding to commercial banks from cbn which i believe is a deliberate act from the apex bank to kind of frustrate customers as commercial banks get large forex request and cbn maybe not being possible to meet all forex requests.
Now personally, After I had submitted my application, I chose a branch where my account officer works, I did not wait for mails to drop as would as your application progresses, rather I visited the bank the next day and met with my account officer and explained how urgent and less time I had, he talked to the colleague in charge of forex transaction for the branch who then requested for all documents I submitted during my application which were; Passport, ticket (round trip), valid visa. After running all necessary checks as in line with CBN policies for such transaction, I received a mail on spot, that my application had been approved and is now on queue for disbursement. However, there was no forex funding from cbn for the next 2-3 banking days so I could not complete the transaction that week. Once there was funding, the forex staff called, that I could visit the branch later that day, and asked for my permission to go ahead to debit my account of funds needed for the pta transaction which I gave the green light to. Thus on this occasion I only had to visit with my passport, the PTA had been readied for pickup.
Thus, the process could be completed within 2 banking days and may last beyond.
You may want to fill the form now, tomorrow you follow up with a call/visit to the branch you will chose to know what next to do and what's situation of things like at the branch. Mind you, you may chose any branch whilst filling the form A and complete your transaction within any of the bank branches across a state or Nigeria and visiting a branch or the bank is not something of a must as I learned from some OP on NL
Finally, I do not know if it were just a coincidence or not, but the platform at the banks usually works Tuesdays and Wednesdays, also banks get forex funding on these days, every other days were; no forex funding, platform is down, and such excuses. That may not be the case with your bank or this week, but you may want to target Tuesday and Wednesday and get the whole process done within 48 hours. Best of luck |
