Amnesty International has called on the Federal Government to commence a “prompt, independent and effective investigation” of former and serving service chiefs for their responsibility in war crimes during the fight against Boko Haram in the North-East.

The organisation said that these crimes included the killing of 8,000 persons, who were “murdered, starved, suffocated and tortured to death.”

The new Governor of Kano State,
Abdullahi Ganduje, on Sunday said
it was normal for his predecessor,
Rabiu Kwankwaso, to leave the state
in debt of over 300 billion naira.
Mr. Ganduje, who spoke to the
journalists, said Mr. Kwankwaso
should be praised rather than
criticised as he transformed the
state.
