Fake drinks producer made money by transferring cheap whisky into bottles of expensive brands Arrested by police after hot chase Sold fake drinks at popular warri market A producer of fake beverage drinks was arrested in Warri, Delta state recently. The criminal, identified as Okechukwu Alozie was arrested by officers of the Delta state police command following a tip-off. Alozie took to his heels on discovering the police was onto him, but was caught shortly after a hot chase. The suspect, already bound in handcuffs, was interrogated openly in the video below where he revealed how he plied his nefarious trade. He said that he purchased cheap whiskey and transferred it into bottles of more expensive alcoholic beverage drinks like Red label, Hennessy, etc. When asked how he got the bottles and empty packaging cartons, he said that he purchased them from a market in Onitsha. He said he sold the fake drinks to unsuspecting customers at Igbudu market in Warri. Nigeria has had a long standing battle with producers of counterfeit/fake products. The country's National agency for food drug administration control (NAFDAC) has been fighting hard to paralyze the activities/distribution of fake consumables in the country. The agency has zero tolerance for fake products and its producers and this is visible in the heavy penalties placed on captured offenders. In march 2016, Two men, one Emeka Nwankwo,42 and Chinonso Okoro,25, were arraigned for adultering assorted drinks in Aba, Abia state. They have since faced the full wrath of the law. http://politicsngr.com/fake-drinks-producer-nabbed-warri-photosvideo/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7t4_gJzvWo

Attacks Sheriff over illegal claim to party leadership Chides Jimoh ibrahim for his betrayal of the party Urges party members to remain faithful as courts will do justice Our attention has been drawn to another set of garbage and tissues of lies put together by the discredited loyalists of Senator Ali Modu-Sheriff in the name of a press statement wherein, the Group tried to sustain it's illegal claim to the leadership of our Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). 2. The National Caretaker Committee which has been confirmed severally by the Courts as the authentic body saddled with the responsibility of providing leadership for the Party pending the hosting of an elective Convention, would have ignored the ranting of these men of dishonour but leaving them to continue deceiving Nigerians at this time would not be in the interest of democracy. 3. First and foremost, we wish to state categorically that in consonance with Judgement of various Courts, which Ali Modu-Sheriff and his team of confused travellers have not bothered to appeal, the former Borno State Governor is not the Chairman of our Party, the PDP. 4. His consistent claim to the Office is a continuation of the plans to cause mayhem in our Party but nature and fair justice has taken care of his desperation. 5. It is amusing that these musketeers could be accusing the National Caretaker Committee of being the reason why the Party is facing challenges in terms of unfavourable election results especially in Edo and Ondo States when it's not a secret to all Nigerians that these group of non-PDP members were the ones who frustrated the Party on all fronts. 6. It is common knowledge that Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim whom they pushed as front at the Ondo Poll before the Appelate Courts reversed the anomaly, openly campaigned for their Party, the APC. We are also aware of the various claims made in the Statement wherein the agents of darkness, used by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to cause confusion and frustrate our campaign for the Ondo Election, accused the Caretaker Committee of impunity. 7. However, we simply want them to define what impunity is, using their acts of betrayal as a case study. What they have done and are still doing is the worst form of impunity, lawlessness, greed and avarice. 9. No matter what they say, we are determined as a political Party to forge ahead, and put our house in order even without their inputs. 10. The National Caretaker Committee have not called for their expulsion against the claims they are making, the time for that has not come. But the rain of vengeance will not hang forever in the clouds. 11. The National Caretaker Committee wish to appreciate all loyal Party members, urging them to keep the faith as the Appellate Courts will do justice to the various appeals pending before it at the appropiate time; to put an end to the antics of these enemies of progress masquerading as members of our Party. Bishops Oyedepo's second daughter, Joy Oyedepo has landed in soup after recording a 'miracle' where she prayed and both her arms grew to equal length. In the beginning part of the video, Joy appears to stretch both her arms and one seemed to be longer than the other. She then proceeds to pray to God asking him to heal a 'disc' in her back responsible for the 'inequality' in arm length. Like sumerian magic, her right arm grows longer and equals her left arm in length! She pulled down the video after receiving much criticism...with some saying the video was a farce and extremely fake. OPEN LETTER TO MR. PRESIDENT AND COMMANDER IN-CHIEF OF THE ARMED FORCES FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA- MUHAMMADU BUHARI GCFC ON BUDGET FRAUD AND CORRUPTION IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES Your Excellency sir, let me once again commend you for the good work you are executing and the credible leadership you have offered our nation since assumption of office about a year and half ago. I write this letter to you as a last resort to seek action on the allegations of budget fraud, abuse of office and corruption I leveled against Speaker Yakubu Dogara and three other Principal Officers of the House of Representatives and use your good office to ensure that urgent reforms are implemented in the House to sanitize it from the monumental individual and systemic corruption that has become the biggest business in the House of Representatives. Although I wrote you a letter few weeks ago, seeking audience to provide you with comprehensive briefing on the allegations i raised and endemic corruption in the House, iam yet to get a reply. However, I fully understand that your busy schedule might have caused the delay. Had I got that opportunity before I left the country, I am optimistic that you would have by now been in a clearer picture of how corrupt the Speaker, our number four citizen is and the three other Principal Officers, individual and systemic corruption in the House and my crusade to continue to expose corruption in the House, Nigeria as a whole and push for urgent reforms in the House. I crave the indulgence of your excellency to pardon me for resorting to an open letter to draw your attention to this matter. The need to deal with the matter decisively and the urgency involved necessitated opting for this channel. Besides, I am aware of some powerful forces working behind the scene in cohort with some members of leadership of the House to ensure that I never get access to you and the matter never see the light of the day. Your Excellency, i attained a modest educational and career height before joining the House. I come from a good home with a rich and diversed background. My middle class parents brought me up in a very descipline environment and instilled in me the virtures of hard work, honesty and courage. It is a training that taught me never to respect a corrupt person no matter how highly placed. I am a responsible young man with no passion for vengeance or mischief. I know exactly where I am coming from and where I am heading. I know exactly what Iam doing sir. Sir, it is noteworthy to mention that in my 5 years in the House as a two term member and Chairman House Committee on Finance 2011-2015 and Chairman House Committee on Appropriation 2015-2016, I have never abused my office or corruptly enrich myself. My offense was standing against budget fraud, immunity for Principal Officers of the House and exposing corruption in a way that has never been done or seen in the history of the House of Representatives. I am a product of the establishment but I have always been uncomfortable and have always looked for the right opportunity or trigger to rebel against the ills of the system through exposing fraudulent acts, corruption and abuse of office in high places for the good of Nigeria and Nigerians. My case whether people believe me or not is that of a young man who is frustrated with the deep-rooted system of corruption in high places. I have decided that enough is enough and I am ready to take on any corrupt person or institution especially the House of Representatives. Some people have raised issue that why did I wait until I left office before opening up. That assertion is not true as I have always spoken within and outside on issues like this since I joined the House in 2011. A simple research will confirm this. Your Excellency, in the last few months I have raised grievous allegations of budget fraud, abuse of office and individual and systemic corruption against Speaker Yakubu Dogara and three other Principal Officers of the House. I followed it with a petition to the security and anti graft agencies including the DSS, EFCC, ICPC and the Police. I have had several interactions with these agencies and pledged my continuous cooperation and willingness to stand witness during prosecution. I took it for granted that the House on resumption from recess will do the needful by asking the Speaker to step aside and conduct a comprehensive investigation in collaboration with the ongoing external investigation, but what my colleagues did remains a shock to the country and the world at large. They decided to punish me for exposing corruption, while celebrating the people I accused of corruption. The Speaker of course took advantage of the deep-rooted systemic corruption in the House to blackmail members to support him. I have been suspended from the House for a year and banned from holding any position for the rest of the 8th Assembly and I must apologise to the House before I am allowed back even after the expiration of the 1 year suspension. Sir, this is an institution that is supposed to support you in fighting corruption. You have taken on corruption and corrupt people decisively, the crusade will be incomplete if corrupt elements are allowed to infest the Legislative arm especially the House of Representatives. You should by now know that you will never get the required support to fight corruption with Dogara as Speaker of the House and most importantly if reforms are not implemented in the House. Your Excellency, let me use this opportunity to inform you that I have challenged my suspension in court because it is unconstitutional and the seat belongs to my constituents who are proud of my anti-corruption crusade in the House. My constituents have also filed a case in court to challenge the suspension. I have also stated clearly that I will never apologise to any member in the House or the House itself as I did not commit any offense and I will continue to stand by all the allegations I raised. Sir, I should also bring to your notice that the Speaker is making frantic efforts to ensure that this matter is suppressed. They will do all they can, including blackmailing you to ensure that the matter is not investigated and culprits prosecuted. In your case, since they cannot find issues of corruption associated with you, they will resort to frustrating any request you forward to the House for approval with a view to arm twisting you or trying to weaken you in the eyes of the public and international community. This is how they operate. You should watch out and be vigilant. On issue of reforms, your excellency may wish to use your good office to decisively get the House TO END THE FRAUDULENT ALLOWANCES REGIME and publish all entitlements of members, stop budget fraud, disclose internal budget of the House, open up finances of the House for external audit, implement e-parliament, activate electronic voting and attendance system, introduce individual member's and standing committees' performance template, revert to old house rules to avoid contempt of court and draconian powers Speaker Dogara accorded himself, drop immunity for Principal Officers, pass the anti corruption bills sent about a year ago by your good self, make Speaker Dogara and others refund hundred of millions collected for rents, return 40 billion stolen from 100 billion zonal intervention funds, return projects diverted to his farm and other fraudulent projects worth billions, compel Speaker Dogara and other occused Principal Officers to step down for prosecution and make the House apologise to Nigerians for the individual and systemic fraud and corruption and gross abuse of office that has become the hallmark of the House over the years. Your Excellency, the House of Representatives stinks of corruption and something urgent must be done to salvage the situation. I pray that you direct the various agencies that I submitted petitions to expedite action on the matter as Nigerians and the world are watching to see how we will deal with this issue of incontrovertible corruption by Speaker Dogara and others and systemic corruption in the House. We have a golden opportunity to show the world that there is zero tolerance for corruption under your leadership. Even more, is the willingness of a serving member in my person who understands these issues and who has offered to stand as witness and provide every support towards prosecution. There is no better way of demonstrating our commitment to the fight against corruption than to use Speaker Yakubu Dogara, Deputy Speaker Lasun, Whip Doguwa and Minority Leader Ogor as example. I strongly believe that if the security and anti-graft agencies expedite action on the allegations and the recommended reforms are implemented, it will go a long way in resolving the crisis and provide the ventilation for the House to commence the process of self-cleansing to repair its battered image and restore the trust of Nigerians in the House. It is a reform that Speaker Dogara has completely lost the moral ground to superintend. Your Excellency, let me draw your attention to a major constraint which has always been the threat to my life since the beginning of the budget fraud saga. I have raised alarm severally that the House cabal led by Speaker Yakubu Dogara are using Hon. Herma Hembe to either assassinate or kidnap me or members of my family. Hon. Hembe has been stalking me. I have been worried and written to the security agencies but none of these people have been questioned. In fact at some point, they tried to use some elements in one of the security agencies to abduct me. All these were reported by my lawyers. It is against this background that I took the decision to stay away from the country until my safety is guaranteed. However, I will be available once my attention is required in respect of my petition against the Speaker and others or any petition that may come against me. I am therefore pleading with you sir to look at this issue with your usual dispassionate approach. For whatever my limitations are as a person, how I am treated will determine if in future people especially those within a system can defy personal risk and speak out against corruption. I pray that God Almighty continue to bless you with long life, good health and more wisdom as you steer the ship of our great country. Thank you. http://politicsngr.com/abdulmumin-jibrin-writes-open-letter-buhari/

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Friday, November 11, 2016 arraigned Air Vice Marshall Tony Omenyi (rtd) alongside his company, Huzee Nigerian Company, before Justice Nnamdi Dimgba of the Federal High Court sitting in Maitama, Abuja on a 3-count charge bordering on abuse of office and money laundering to the tune of N136.325.000.00 (one hundred and thirty six million, three hundred and twenty five thousand naira). Omenyi is being charged for his alleged role in the diversion of funds meant for the purchase of arms by the military. The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him. Upon his plea, counsel to EFCC, M. S. Abubakar, expressed his readiness, subject to the convenience of the court, to commenced trial immediately. “My Lord, in view of the plea of the defendant and in the light of the provisions of Section 273, 300 (2) of the ACJA, I humbly apply to proceed immediately for trial”, Abubakar said. Omenyi’s counsel, Wahab Olatunji, urged the court to dismiss the immediate commencement of trial claiming that, they had not been furnished with the statements of both the accused and the witnesses as recommended by the ‘Practice Direction Act, 2013’. Olatunji’s motion was however overruled by the judge, who held that all the documents required by the ‘Practice Direction’ had already been furnished in three volumes in the charge filed and dated October 11, 2016 by the prosecution. Olatunji further urged the court to admit his client to bail adding that the law presumed the accused innocent until otherwise proven guilty. In response, Abubakar kicked, urging the court to refuse the application by the defence. “My Lord, the punishment should not only be considered, the impact of the crime on the society should be considered too bearing in mind the fact that this case borders on the alleged diversion of funds for the purchase of arms by some members of the military. I urge the court to grant bail judiciously”, he submitted. Justice Dimgba, after listening to the submissions of both counsels adjourned to November 14, 2016 for the hearing of the bail application and ordered the accused to be remanded in Kuje prison. http://politicsngr.com/arms-gate-air-vice-marshal-omenyi-docked-remanded-kuje-prison/ cc : lalasticlala

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 arraigned one Abel Ovie-Sarki alongside Shelter Place Limited before Justice M. M. Kolo of the FCT High Court sitting in Wuse Zone II, Abuja on a 5-count charge of forgery and obtaining by false pretence to the tune of N32million. Ovie-Sarki who is also a principal partner of Shelter Place Limited, was arrested following a petition by Bayero University, Kano, owner of a property located at No. 23 Agadez Crescent, Wuse II, Abuja. The said property was leased through its property manager, Shelter Place Limited to ECOWAS Community Court of Justice on December 1, 2007 at the rate of N6million per annum for five years totaling N30million. The complainant alleged that the defendant altered the tenancy agreement and fraudulently reviewed the rent upward to N10million per annum to give a total of N50million for same period. However, the bubble burst when the university management wrote to the property managers of its decision to increase the rent from N6million per annum to N12million which was communicated to the tenant. According to the complainant, the property managers again unilaterally reviewed the rent to N20million per annum with 10% agency fee without remitting what was due to the university authority. One of the counts reads: “That you Abel Ovie-Sarki being principal partner of Shelter Place Limited and Shelter Place Limited, a Limited Liability company while acting as managers/agents to Bayero University sometime between 2012 and 2014 in Abuja within the Abuja Judicial Division of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory did commit criminal breach of trust by dishonestly converting the sum of about N32,000,000 paid to Bayero University as rent by ECOWAS Community Court of Justice and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 311 of the Penal Code”. The defendant pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him. In view of his plea, counsel to EFCC, J. A. Ojogbane asked the court for a date to commence trial. However, counsel to the defence, C. K. Agu, holding the brief of Esume Felix Dumebi, stated that he had a pending bail application and prayed the court to allow him move same to which he was obliged. Moving the bail motion, Agu said that his application was brought pursuant to Section 158 & 152 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, ACJA and Section 35 & 36 (5) of the 1999 Constitution. “My Lord, the defendant has been on administrative bail and he has never failed to report to the EFCC anytime he is needed. He is also a family man with lots of dependants. We pray that the bail conditions will be liberal as the offence is bailable”, Agu pleaded. Responding, Ojogbane countered the application saying, “we agree that bail is a constitutional right of the defendant, but we urge the court to consider the prevalence of this offence in our environment in granting the defendant bail. I, therefore pray the court to use its discretion to grant the defendant bail with such conditions that will guarantee his attendance to trial”. Justice Kolo thereafter adjourned to November 14, 2016 for ruling on the bail application and ordered the accused person to be remanded in prison custody. http://politicsngr.com/photos-efcc-arraign-manager-n32-million-fraud/ cc : lalasticlala
