Following over a hundred petitions from across the country on the operations of an alleged Wonder bank and its nefarious activities, the EFCC on Thursday September 6, 2016 arrested the Managing Director of “Lets Partner With You Ltd”, Chief. Patrick Shanchi Nwokike at his residence in Enugu, Enugu state. Petitions from a cross section of Nigerians and cutting across religious, gender, ethnic, economic and social class indicate that the company had over the past five years solicited and obtained deposits of more than N4,000,000,000 ( Four Billion Naira Only) from the general public with promise of mouth watering interest in return. According to investigations conducted by the Commission, the company has no license to solicit and manage funds for the public nor was it registered with Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC, or the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Company, NDIC. Further investigations revealed that a 10% (Ten percent) interest was for some time paid on invested capital which for no justifiable reason, was suddenly stopped and all efforts by depositors to have at least the capital of their investments returned nor terminate their investments proved abortive. Many of the complainants alleged that the operators of the scheme especially, Chief Nwokike not only live very flamboyant lifestyles but acquired several personal assets as well as using their deposits for philanthropic enterprise. The company was also found to have over six accounts in about four banks with the CEO of “Lets Partner With You Ltd” and his wife being the only signatories to the accounts. In his statement, Nwokike who acknowledged that depositor’s funds with his company was about N4,000,000,000( Four Billion Naira Only) , denied operating both money lending and investment business as alleged by the petitioners. He stated that his company is into partnership business which receives money from interested partners who desires interest from their money after it might have been infused into businesses especially that of small scale traders. Nwokike argued that the present problem facing his company is as a result of the general economic downturn in the country; an argument punctured by his depositors who said his company started defaulting even before the present economic woes. Investigation is still on-going to ascertain the extent of the company’s operations, its culpability, likely recovery of funds and possible prosecution. http://politicsngr.com/efcc-arrest-patrick-nwokikemd-lets-partner-n4-billion-fraud/ cc: lalasticlala, mynd44

Dasukigate: Jonathan's Cousin, Azibaola’s Trial Adjourned to Nov 14. The trial of Azibaola Robert, a cousin to former President Goodluck Jonathan, was stalled on Thursday, October 6, 2016 as the PW2, Olabode Farinuola was unavoidably absent in court to continue his testimony. Below is statement from the Godwin Obaseki support group urging Ize-Iyamu and his supporters to desist from campaigning after the edo elections. The Godwin Obaseki Support Group (GOSG) has advised the supporters of the Mr Osagie Ize Iyamu to stop campaigning in the streets of Benin long after the window for such activities has ended. The Group in a statement signed by Mr Peter Ashama the publicity secretary advised youths across the state to embrace the agricultural policy of the incoming governor Mr Godwin Obaseki and look at the bigger picture of a robust economy rather than be allowed to be used to foment trouble in the streets of Benin. The statement added that the recent pictures that went viral wherein children below the ages of 10 were sighted holding placard purportedly protesting against INEC amounts to child abuse and that it violates the child rights law of Nigeria 2004. All those responsible for that heinous crime should be arrested by the Nigerian police. It urged the Nigerian police to ensure peace and orderliness to ride the state of street urchins and all forms of criminal gangs who are hell bent in destroying the peace enjoyed by the people of Edo state. The Group argued that as we speak, many local and foreign investors have lined up to embrace the economic plan of the Governor Elect which will create thousands of jobs for the people of Edo state and therefore any attempt by anybody or group to sabotage such efforts under the guise of street protest should be discouraged by all means. All post election issues are handled by the election Tribunal under the constitution and it will amount to crime for anybody to take laws into his or her hands and subjecting the peace loving Edo people into unnecessary hardship is unacceptable and negates the freedom of movement as envisaged under the Nigerian constitution. The GOSG once again commend INEC for organizing a credible election and conclusively for the people of Edo state, we also thank the Nigerian Police for a job well done and the people of Edo state for voting massively for Godwin Obaseki and his Deputy Hon Philip Shaibu who we know are going to look into all the issues raised by the people of Edo state during the electioneering campaigns especially the issue of taxation, youth unemployment and high cost of food stuff. Finally, the group advised the All Progressive Congress (APC) to go to court to challenge the votes allocated to PDP in the five local governments they won as we have credible evidence of voter intimidation, shooting and snatching of ballot papers in those local governments especially Orhiomwon, Esan North East, Esan West and Esan Central Local Governments. We urged all GOSG members across the state to remain calm as our lawyers are working round the clock to ensure justice is done in the five local government where we were cheated by the PDP. http://politicsngr.com/edo-elections-stop-campaigning-elections-obaseki-camp-chides-ize-iyamu/ cc: lalasticlala , mynd44

Senate president Bukola Saraki has pushed for more powers for the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Parliament, if the aim of the subregion to achieve full integration is to be realized. Saraki made this statement while giving a speech at the opening of the First Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Parliament in Abuja. He said; "The ECOWAS sub-region has come a long way in pursuit of integration and development. However, what is clear today is that we need to do more. Other regional bodies including those who we inspired have moved faster towards integration than we have. "Sadly, this has been due to our inability to add to the institutional building blocks and muster the courage to reorder our structures for the vision of a virile and integrated ECOWAS. "The ECOWAS Parliament remains a critical place to start. We must as a necessity, give the parliament greater authorization and capacity to duly legislate on common areas and provide oversight on certain issues of common interest and interdependency. "For as long as we are unable to, or fail to remit to this parliament more powers, the dreams for greater integration will remain a myth. This singular reason may be responsible for the lack of adequate cohesion in the fight against terrorism, cross border crimes and the implementation of agreed trade agreements and protocols. "With greater oversight and authorization, it is possible that we would see greater inroads made in the areas of the enforcement of ECOWAS regional trade agreements and instruments especially the Common External tarriff order" http://dumebiifeanyi.com/saraki-seeks-powers-ecowas-photos/

Today's plenary session at the house of reps experienced a breakdown of order after PDP house members refused to allow Petroleum minister, Ibe Kachikwu entrance into the house. The House of Representatives onn Monday began a special session to deliberate on the Federal Government’s announcement of an increase in the price of Petrol. All hell broke loose when the minister for Petroleum resources, Ibe Kachikwu was invited to brief the lawmakers on the petroleum sector. The PDP lawmakers erupted in shouts, waving the National flag and singing protest songs and were hell bent on not allowing the Minister entry into the Representatives’ chamber. Kachikwu had earlier on May 11 announced a new price band of 145 Naira per litre of petrol, linking the hike to the difficulty in getting foreign exchange and the inability of the nation’s refineries to produce at optimum capacity to cushion scarcity that has lasted for over five months. |

Below is a press statement from the Director of Public relations and protocols for the Ministry of Information and Culture, Dama N. explaining the N13 million loan the ministry wanted to get from the NBC. My attention has been drawn to a letter I endorsed to the Ag. Director General, National Broadcasting Commission requesting for a loan of N13,120,470.00 to cover tickets and travel expenses of a five-member delegation being led by the Honourable Minister of Information and Culture to Beijing, China, which was mischievously leaked to the social media by staff of National Broadcasting Commission. 2.The loan being requested for is for the Ministry to meet up its obligations to enable the Minister and members of his delegation attend an all important Conference on Tourism for Development in China, thatis meant to benefit this country. 3.The loan is not meant for the HonourableMinister alone as personal expenses, but for the expenses of all members of the delegation. 4.The Conference, which is being organized by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation in conjunction with the Government of the People’s Republic of China, under the overall theme “Tourism for Peace and Development,” will feature amongst others discussions on major issues for sustainable development including the contribution of Tourism to poverty reduction and peace. 5.The Conference will also feature discussion on major issues that have direct bearing on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), poverty alleviation through Tourism and the linkage between Tourism peace at the National and International levels. 6.China on this occasion as chair of G20 will also host the 7th T20 Ministers meeting under the theme “Sustainable Tourism, An Effective Tool for Inclusive Development.” 7.The Conference is a veritable platform to develop synergy and partnership with players in the global Tourism Industry which will go a long way in boosting our drive to diversify the Nigerian economy. 8.It is also important to note that the Minister and his delegation were to have discussion in China with Set Top Box Manufacturers, who are meant to establish manufacturing factories in Nigeria for these boxes for our digital broadcasting processes, rather than the current situation in which the boxes are being imported. This is meant to conserve our foreign exchange and to also create avenue for job creation for our citizens. 9.From the foregoing, it is clear that the Conference is an all important gathering that will benefit Nigeria, contribute towards diversification of its revenue base and create employment opportunitiesfor Nigerians. 10.Again, it is not unusual for an agency under the Ministry to assist in order to carry out government functions. Moreover, the request was discussed with the Ag. Director General NBC, who agreed to assist with the loan before the letter was written. It is therefore shocking to find out that an internal memorandum from the Ministry could be leaked out to the social media by saboteurs in order to embarrass the government. 11.Please note, multiple letters were not written to government agencies as alleged, we only wrote to NBC after discussing with the Ag. DG. Payments were to be effected if the fund were loaned out based on extant financial regulations. There is nothing wrong with the request of the Ministry to meet up with an important assignment meant to benefit the country. 12. Finally, the loan that was requested for is NOTmeant for Lai Mohammed as being imputed but for the entire five members of the delegation to cover for tickets, travel allowances and other incidentals. Micheal Ahamba, a former Lawyer of President Muhammadu Buhari and Former senator, Christy Anyanwu have been interrogated by the Economic and financial crimes commission over their involvement in the N23.29 billion poll bribery scandal. Ahamba and Anyanwu were given N700 million by embattled former Fidelity bank MD, Nnamdi Okonkwo. The remaining N500 million was given to the chairman of Cross River State Chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Ntufam John Okon. He was arrested yesterday. Ahamba and Anyanwu were both interrogated in the Enugu office of the EFCC. They both received the N700 million at the Ikenegbu Layout branch of Fidelity Bank, Owerri. Last week, the EFCC arrested the Fidelity bank MD for not reporting that receipt of a huge sum of cash totaling $115 million(N23.29 billion) from four oil companies and embattled petroleum minister, Diezani Madueke, to the commission as required by law. This has been denied by the bank as they say the amount was duly reported to the Nigerian Financial and Intelligence Unit, NFIU. Investigations show that Diezani summoned the bank chief to her home in Abuja and told him to get ready to receive a hugge sum of money in foreign currency from four oil companies, convert the cash to Naira and pay them to certain beneficiaries on her behalf. A day after the instruction from the ex-petroleum minister, four companies stormed the bank with various amounts of cash in dollars and were promptly received by Okonkwo. A breakdown of the funds given by the EFCC shows that Laitan Adesanya paid $1.35million, Actus Integrated paid in $17,884,Midwestern Oil and Gas, $9.5m,Northern Belt Gas Company paid in $60m . Diezani paid in $26 million in cash herself. Shortly after paying in the cash, Diezani’s son, Ugonna, approached Okonkwo and delivered the list of beneficiaries of the cash as earlier instructed by his mother. He has since been declared wanted by the EFCC. http://dumebiifeanyi.com/n1-2-billion-election-fund-buharis-former-lawyer-mike-ahamba/

He stated that, after the money was deposited in his account, he was asked to change it into dollars and take it to Suswan's house in Maitama. According to Umar, a total of six lodgments were made into his account. Explaining how the lodgments were made, the witness stated that, the first lodgment of N413million was made on August 8, 2014.
