Land racketeer arraigned for issuing N2.5 million Dud Cheques The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday, January 9, 2017 arraigned one Olajide Dele Oyegbami, before Justice A. A. Aderemi of the Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan, on a 2-count charge bordering on issuance of dud cheque. Oyegbami, a serial land racketeer who was recently arraigned for a similar offence was again docked following a petition to the EFCC alleging that the suspect sold a plot of land to the petitioner sometimes in October 2015. Few weeks after the purchase of the plot of land, and construction work has commenced, Oyegbami allegedly instructed the petitioner to stop work on the land claiming that a woman (one Mojirade Adesokan) was in court over the said plot of land adding that, he didn’t know anything about the land dispute until November 2015. Investigation however revealed that Oyegbami was privy to the case instituted by Adesokan and actually collected money for the sale of the said plot of land notwithstanding the restraint order placed on it by court. The petitioner, having invested about N4million on the land in dispute, approached Oyegbami for a refund, but the defendant after much pressure issued two separate cheques of N1million and N1.5million which upon presentation at the bank were dishonoured by the bank due to insufficient funds in the account. One of the counts reads: “That you, Olajide Oyegbami Dele sometime in April 2016, at Ibadan within the jurisdiction of the High Court of Oyo state did issue a First Bank cheque No: 00107149 dated the 31st of May, 2016 for the sum of N1,500,000 to one Raphael Denedo which cheque on presentation within 3 months of issuance was dishonored for lack of sufficient funds in the account and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1 (1) (b) of the dishonored cheques (Offences) Act Cap D11 laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004 and punishable under Section 1 (1) (b) (i) of the same Act”. The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge pressed against him. In view of his plea, counsel to EFCC, Cosmas O. Ugwu, prayed the court for a trial date. But, the defence counsel, S. O. Sanni, informed the court that he had a pending application dated January 4, 2017 which was filed in court and served on the prosecuting counsel same date. Moving the application, Sanni prayed the court to admit his client to bail. Justice Aderemi granted bail to the accused in the sum of N200,000 (two hundred thousand naira) with two sureties in like sum. The sureties who must be civil servants working in the state must not be below salary grade level 10. One of the sureties must have landed properties within the Ibadan Jurisdiction and the defendant must report to the EFCC office every Monday morning pending the determination of the matter. The case has been adjourned to February 27- 28 and March 1, 2017 for trial. http://politicsngr.com/land-grabber-arraigned-issuing-dud-cheques-photo/

24-year old driver accused of stealing his boss' car, TVs and a pet dog, confesses that Christmas needs of his siblings pushed him into the stealing. The suspect, Abass Ope, from Ogun State was arrested at Ojuelegba area of Lagos by the Decoy Team of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the State Police Command, on last year Boxing Day. He was picked up by the Police while trying to sell off his ex-boss’s Toyota Avensis 2013 model with the registration number AGL 734 AR for N2 million. Arrested along with him were three of his friends: Balogun Oluwaseun (23); Sanni Azeez (23) and Stephen Ewiele (22). Abass had during Christmas period stormed his boss Magodo home while he and his family were holidaying in Delta State, with a conspirator to move a 100 inches LCD TV, another 42 inches LCD TV, a dog, a suitcase, 2 DSTV decoders and a Toyota Avensis, from the home. It was learnt that the suspect invaded the home of his ex-boss after learning that he had travelled to Delta State for the Christmas holiday, and that the gatekeeper had also gone to church. Our source said that the suspect was aware of where his boss usually kept keys to his rooms which made it easy for him to commit the crime. It was revealed that his ex-boss, on getting report of missing vehicle and property called the suspect on more than two occasions to intimate him of the development but he denied knowledge of the incidence. The source further added that the boss had to cut short his holiday in Delta with his family to report the incident at Magodo Police Station. The source added that he was shocked when an official of the RRS called him to notify him of his recovered vehicle because, he never reported the theft in RRS office. According to Abass, “I took the car because I had no money to take care of myself and younger ones. They had no clothes, no shoes and this is Yuletide season. They looked up to me to take care of these expenses…. It was about three months now that I left Mr. Ekinodo (his former boss). I had worked for him for four years before leaving him on August, 2016. I left because he had a little challenge and things were pretty tough for him. I left so that he could have himself sorted out." He continued; “he was a very nice boss to work with. He enrolled me into University but I couldn’t continue the education when I left him. While he had this challenge, he owed me 8 month salary; this prompted me to take his property and the vehicle." He added, “the auto dealer wanted to pay N2 million for the car but I insisted he pays N4 Million because I know it is worth more than that.… He offered me N1million instantly and that the balance would be ready in about few minutes time, but I decided to ignore the offer hoping that the dealer would call me back for a re-negotiation…. I went back to Ojuelegba few hours later in company of three of my friends, that was when RRS operatives arrested us.” According to Ekinodo Ifoghale, “I am in shock. This is a guy I treated like a son. Apart from my wife, he was the closest person to me. This is a guy that did my shopping for me. Even, before I buy anything for myself, I bought for him first”. “How can I owe him 8 months’ salary when he never worked for me in those periods? Did he inform me that I owed him? He was never in my house in the periods he claimed.… I called him more than twice when I got the report of the break in. He told me he knew nothing about it. If he had told me he needed money, I would have given him because we were still very close despite the fact that he was no longer working for me,” he added. Confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Superintendent of Police, SP Dolapo Badmos, advised members of the public to always do a background check of their domestic servants so as not to expose themselves to criminals. The suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID)Yaba, for further investigation. http://politicsngr.com/christmas-expenses-drove-rob-boss-thief-photos/ cc : lalasticlala

President's wife seen with high-end bag following Nigerian high commission UK scandal President Buhari's wife, Aisha Buhari was seen with a bag reportedly worth $2,800 (2,700 in Euros and 856,000 in Naira). The bag is a Dolce and Gabbanna small Sicily patchwork exotic bag. The picture above, showing the first lady and the bag was taken at the British airways lounge, which allegedly costs 3,200 pounds to use. This is coming in the wake of an embezzlement scandal with the Nigerian High Commission in London, were it was reported that the commission was funding the the president's wife trips to the UK and paying the bills of an aide to the president, Abba Kyari. In denial, the president's wife released a statement denying the allegations. It read; This is necessary as it concerns her trip to UK and the Nigerian High Commission in London. Mrs Buhari had never traveled with a large entourage to London as reported by the Sahara Reporters. The Nigerian High Commission in London had never offered any favour either in cash or material to Mrs Buhari,” the statement said adding that the records were clear for any reporter to see. Mrs Buhari would have ignored the publication like all such baseless accusations, but for the angle with which the report was presented has a corruption and abuse of privileges connotation. This, however, negates the fundamental principles upon which Buhari’s administration thrives. It is on record that the Nigerian High Commission in London did not receive Aisha Buhari at the airport with any official distinction or privilege as it was accorded other first ladies before her. She never complained or raised dust about any of these act by the high commission because of the understanding as clearly spelt out and practised by her husband that public office must be separated from the private lives of the occupants.Even her drivers are privately arranged without any recourse to embassy for staff. http://politicsngr.com/exclusive-aisha-buhari-seen-handbag-costs-2800-n856000/ cc : lalasticlala

Remains committed to the ban of vehicles through land borders The Nigeria Customs Service Seme Area Command collected the sum of One Billion, Five Hundred and Twenty One Million, Three Hundred and Fifty Nine Thousand, Five Hundred and Sixty Four Naira Seventy Three Kobo (N1,521,359,564.73) as revenue in the month of December, 2016. The amount exceeded the monthly revenue target of the Command and the amount collected in the corresponding year 2015 with N499, 558,434.40 and N101, 129,228.70 respectively. The Command also made a total of seventy four (74) seizures with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of fifty five million, six hundred and forty one thousand, one hundred and twenty four naira fifty six kobo (N55,641,124.56) in the same month of December, 2016. The Enforcement Unit of the Command has succeeded in suppressing smuggling activities to the barest minimum. Commenting on the success recorded, the Customs Area Controller of the Command, Compt. Dimka Victor David disclosed that apart from the commitment of his officers and men, the feat recorded is also attributed to the recent policy pronouncement of the Federal Government banning the importation of new and fairly used vehicles through the land borders. He said; The policy statement on the restriction of new and fairly used vehicles through the land borders brought about an upsurge in the number of vehicles escorted into Seme border, which translated to the increase in the Command’s revenue figure realized. The Customs Area Controller further disclosed that the quest of the command to remain passionate and resolute in enforcing the fiscal policies of the Federal Government cannot be over emphasized. Ten Billion Five hundred and three Million, Eight Hundred and Ninety Four Thousand, Eighty Nine Naira, Eighty One Kobo only (N10, 503,894,089.81) was collected from January to December, 2016 on general cargoes and vehicles. Duty and taxes accrued from escorted transit vehicles accounted for 56% of the total revenue generated in the same year. The Command recorded an unprecedented number of seizures (848) with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N608, 219,970.94 from January to December, 2016. There is a corresponding decline in smuggling activities occasioned by the aggressive anti-smuggling operation of the Command in order to ensure total compliance with the policy thrust of the Comptroller General of Customs and the Service extant laws. Responding to the media on the Federal Government ban of new and fairly used vehicles, the Customs Area Controller said, “the Command is battle ready to implement the Federal Government policy to the latter.” He re-stated that because the wisdom of the Federal Government is above every common sense, the Command have strategized and is still re-strategizing towards the implementation process bearing in mind that the dare devil smugglers can be brutal and deadly. However, he re-iterated that the command is battle ready and equal to the task. The Customs Area Controller further disclosed that presently, the vehicle seat in Seme border Command has been disbanded and its officers re-deployed to beef up border patrols for effective implementation of the Federal government policy. He said, the way smuggling of rice was drastically suppressed by the command, it is also fully committed to implementing same for vehicles that will be smuggled through the land border after 1st January, 2017. He enjoined the general public, stakeholders to be adequately sensitized and stay away from buying vehicles through the land borders to avoid loses. The Comptroller re-emphasized that facilitating legitimate trade is one of the service core mandate; however, he noted that legitimate trade in new and fairly used vehicles into Nigeria is now strictly facilitated in the seaports.

Musician says phones and jewelry were forcefully taken from him by the officers. An accusation of robbery has been leveled against officers of the special anti-robbery squad (SARS) by an Instagram user with the name, KJV Music. In a lengthy post, KJVmusic whose real name is Mordecai and signed to trailblazer music wrote: This is a warning to everyone and It's also a step in the path to justice. Tonight at about 11:30pm, i and my team were headed for an event i was invited to on the island. we were all leaving from my sisters place which is at new oko oba. We had not gotten past one street after my sisters' when our ride was blocked by a blue toyota big daddy with registeration number smk 517 bm. Out came 4 men carrying rifles branded with the Nigerian police flag. They were all in civilian clothes, although their black polo tops had SARS printed on it. They weren't wearing name tags too. Unidentifiable and maybe even untraceable, these men said we should get into their car without reason. When we resisted they started hitting us and that was when things became ugly. They used leg cuffs to hit us injuring my brother on the head, fired shots in the air as we struggled with them trying to scare people who were coming close to the scene to intervene. They also took a phone, jewelry (neck pieces and a wristwatch) from us then got into their car not returning any of the items they had taken initially. The problem with this incident is that these men, with the assurance that nothing will happen could have easily shot us dead or maimed us. I am employing people in authority to look into this division of the NPF. They can't continue to treat people like animals. Unfortunately we couldn't take pictures or videos because they grabbed the first phone we pulled out to record the whole thing. All we have is a picture of my brother's head injury and the plate number of the car they drove. He further added that the SARS vehicle's number plates were registered with SMK517BM. The police is yet to respond. http://politicsngr.com/man-accuses-sars-officers-robbery-photos/

Senior Nigerian lawyers turn down offers from federal government to prosecute Judges arrested by DSS The Federal Government has lost the bid to secure the services of senior lawyers to prosecute judges alleged of corruption, an impeccable source has told Politics Nigeria. The Federal Government is currently prosecuting three judges, the Chief Registrar and two other senior officials of the Supreme Court for alleged corruption. The judges are Justice Sylvester Ngwuta of the Supreme Court, Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court, Abuja and Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia of the Federal High, Lagos. Justices Ngwuta and Ademola were part of the eight judges arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) on October 8 and 9 for alleged corruption. Justice Ajumogobia was, however, drilled by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) before her prosecution commenced. The source, who preferred anonymity because he is not authorised to talk on the issue, said that not less than 15 SANs have rejected Federal Government’s briefs for the prosecution of the judges. The source further disclosed that part of the senior lawyers who rejected the proposed fiat to prosecute included prominent senior lawyers who are part of special prosecutors assembled by the Federal Government through its National Prosecution Coordinating Committee. Politcs Nigeria recalled that in preparation for high profile cases, the Federal Government, through the office of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), had set up a National Prosecution Coordinating Committee, which was made of several SANs. It is further recalls that the government had assembled about 80 special prosecutors, grouped into 20 teams, for the purpose of prosecuting high-profile cases that are instituted by the AGF and Minister of Justice’s office. Each team is having four SANs. The source also stated that at least a quarter of the group members were offered the briefs of prosecuting the judges, but they declined. Speaking on the decline, some senior lawyers who spoke on the condition of anonymity said they rejected the brief based on how the Federal Government went about the whole issue. They added that they are in support of the efforts by the Federal Government to cleanse the judiciary, but they are opposed to the approach. Also, some well-recognised prosecutors, who are familiar with handling corruption cases in the country, seem not to be willing to take up the brief. Some of them have attributed their rejection of the brief to the fact that the government’s approach is targeted at caging the judiciary. They, however, said that they are willing to defend the judges in court. However, in the absence of Nigerian-based senior lawyers, the Federal Government was left with an option of looking elsewhere and this resulted to government hiring two former international prosecutors, Segun Jegede and Charles Adeogun-Philips. The duo has accepted the offer, though the terms of contract are not known. However, they have started the work of prosecution. While Jegede is leading the prosecution of Justice Ademola, Adeogun-Philips heads the prosecuting team with respect to Justice Ngwuta’s and the Supreme Court officials’ trials. http://politicsngr.com/corruption-war-15-sans-reject-offers-prosecute-judges/ cc : lalasticlala

Rivers governor subject to police investigation following leak of audio tape where he threatened to kill INEC officials. The Nigerian police force is poised to investigate Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike over an audio tape that surfaced a few days ago where the Rivers frontman can be heard threatening to kill some electoral officers. The Inspector General of Police, Idris Ibrahim Kpotum, has setup a panel of detectives to launch an investigation into the matter. In the audio published HERE, Wike was heard telling an aide to warn some INEC officals deployed from Plateau state, firther adding that they should return what he 'gave' them or he will 'kill' them. He said; “They should return what they gave them or I will kill them,” The Rivers state government has since responded to the development, saying that the tape was doctored and was part of a calculated move to discredit the PDP's victory in the Re-run elections. Don Awunah, spokesperson for the Nigerian police force, in a press release, stated that the IG was on top of the matter. In his words; “The IG has set up a team of detectives and experts to conduct a thorough investigation into the incidents mentioned by the INEC chairman with a view to unravelling those who directly or indirectly are responsible for such incidences and bring them to justice. The investigative team is also mandated to conduct forensic analysis on the audio report released by Sahara Reporters purportedly to be the voice of the Executive Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency Chief (Barr.) Nigerian senate takes stance to weed out corruption in power sector, set to investigate how 213bn power intervention fund was disbursed. Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki has urged the Senate Committee on Power, Steel Development and Metallurgy to conduct a public hearing into declining electricity generation in the country that currently stands at 3000 megawatts capacity. Also, the public hearing is expected to verify the claims and counter claims of non-remittance of revenues between the Nigeria Bulk Electricity Trading Company (NBET), Electricity Distribution Companies (Discos) and Generation Companies (Gencos) as well as uncover how the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) disbursed the N213 billion intervention fund to the power sector. Saraki who spoke at the weekend during a special stakeholders meeting to proffer solutions to the worsening electricity generation in the country said the public hearing should look at the role of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) which serves as Board members in the Discos and Gencos, thereby making it difficult for the BPE to effectively supervise and audit the electricity generation and distribution companies. He had in his opening comments lamented the poor electricity supply in Nigeria and the consequences of the negative development in the efforts to move Nigeria out of the present economic recession. He told the stakeholders in the power sector led by the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Louis Edozien that the essence of the meeting was to proffer solutions to an imminent collapse of the electricity system in the country. Briefing the meeting, the Permanent Secretary, Edozien, lamented that power generation has gone down to 3000MW/H from a 7000MW/H generating capacity with a 12000MW/H connected load. Edozien also said there was poor and declining revenue collection capacity as the Discos are remitting about 45 per cent of collectable revenue instead of the performance agreement target of 65 per cent. He further cited low tariff and what he described as 'payment transparency and discipline' as some of the challenges facing electricity generation and distribution. In their contributions at the meeting, representatives of gas producers and suppliers traced their inability to supply adequate gas to the electricity generating companies to vandalization and the inability of the GENCOs to pay for the already supplied products, insisting that the terms of gas supply and payment is on the basis of 'willing sellers and buyers'. The gas producers and suppliers consisting mostly of SHELL Petroleum and TOTAL Petroleum complained of security challenges that usually result in the vandalization of their pipelines and hence their inability to meet demands in some cases. The meeting was shocked when s representative of NBET, Dr. Marilyn Amobi, who is the managing director and chief executive officer, revealed that the DISCOs can't account for most of the revenue remitted to it by consumers due to what she described as 'bad behaviour', an euphemism for corruption. She further said that revenue generated by NBET was better before the liberalization exercise when compared to post-liberalization period, blaming it on lack of proper accountability and supervision of the DISCOs by BPE and lack of proper auditing. Other stakeholders blamed the distribution companies for lack of compliance with the agreed terms on remitting generated revenues from consumers, manifesting in consumer discontent, payment default as well as unstructured and unserviced debts. The complaint of lack of transparency in the remittance of revenues collected prompted the Senate President to direct that a public hearing be conducted by the Senate Committee on Power, Steel Development and Metallurgy to identify the problems and make recommendations on the way forward. http://politicsngr.com/senate-investigate-n213bn-power-intervention-fund-shared/ cc : lalasticlala

President represented at conference by Secretary to the Government of the federation,David Lawal Says army has reclaimed all Boko Haram strongholds Imo governor praises the Nigerian army, says they have 'done the nation proud' President Mohammadu Buhari has said that the Nigeria Army has recovered all the nation’s territories in the hands of terrorists, and has also to a large extent stabilized militancy operations in the Niger Delta region, adding that the nation has witnessed so much sacrifice from the Nigeria army in curbing terrorism and guarding the territorial boundaries of the nation. The President who spoke at the opening ceremony of the Chief of Army Staff’s Conference in Owerri on Monday, December 5, 2016, said, the army has been able to chase out the insurgents from their strongholds, adding that the Nigeria army must intensify their efforts and work closely with other security agencies to address the current security challenges in the country. The President who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the federation, Engr. David Lawal commended the security agencies and the Nigeria army in Particular for their professionalism in the discharge of their duties and in sustaining the Country’s democracy, stating that the Conference would afford the Nigeria army the opportunity to re-strategize over the war against insurgency which the nation is already winning. Engr. Lawal who had earlier paid courtesy call on governor Okorocha said that Governor Rochas Okorocha is one of the successful governors of APC in the Country and that the APC government at the Centre is aware of his achievements in the State, adding that the choice of Owerri for the Chief of Army Staff’s Conference must have been because of the Calmness of the State. Governor Okorocha had in his speech gave kudos to the Nigerian Army for doing the nation proud, regretting that “often in our history, we intend to forget men and women who have signed off their lives to protect their nation. Former presidential aide, Doyin Okupe has labelled the ruling political party, APC, a party without political pedigree. In a lengthy piece, Okupe also shed light on the rumoured mega party that is being formed by disgruntled political topshots. Okupe wrote; The news is rife that a new mega party or what is generally referred to as a third force, is in the offing. This situation has become so because of the prevailing assumptions that the two main parties no longer give confidence and hope to the generality of the populace and may have actually become impossible to salvage. The veracity of this assumption is undoubtedly questionable but what is not questionable is the fact that this is the perception of a majority of our people. It is said however that in politics, perception is reality. It is interesting and sad that in Nigeria, political parties which are essential institutions to growth and democratic advancement in modern societies are like disposable syringes. They are used once to deliver a specific medication at an prescribed time and discarded wantonly thereafter. This sad narrative is probably due to, amongst other reasons, the nature of the evolution of our country, our post independent history, the effects of long period of military rule, the character of the political elites who took over power from the military, and perhaps the excessively lucrative nature of the vocation itself. The Pdp would have been a perfect model of a political institution for an emerging third world democracy, due to the fact that it was formed by an overwhelming national consensus, not patterned around the usual individual or regional ownership of political parties or association. No doubt, poor leadership, lack of clearly defined and structurally entrenched ideology, and being subsequently overburdened by greed and its own portion of the pervasive national corruption, finally conspired to bring the roof down. The Apc on its party has no known political pedigree or antecedent and was hurriedly put together to take power from the pdp government. There was no adequate time for the various tendencies within it to fuse and come into some understanding that would have allowed for a measure of internal cohesion to exist, so that in time if strife or stress, the party will have a bonded framework that will ensure stability. Now even members of pdp, apc and the general public are yearning for a new party. Typical of we politicians, we are once again about to form new parties the same way the failed ones were formed, with very little regard for deep and reflective thinking. Our definition of mega party does not include, a robust manifesto that clearly identifies the needs of our people, our objectives and goals as a nation, and a verifiable and realistic road map of how to get there. Neither does it include identifiable errors of the past, and a prescription of how to correct them. It also does not include the various socioeconomic and structural challenges we face as a nation and a value proposition on how to overcome them. We rely on Mega personalities and Mega Names to form New Mega Parties bedevilled by old Mega problems. In 2019 and beyond, the issue of political restructuring will be at the center point of discussion and will be a critical factor in determining the way forward. Therefore the evolution and development of geo political zonal consensus will be necessary precursors to the emergence of any enduring, stable and galvanising national political platform. Each geopolitical zone must first work internally to evolve its own consensus based on its shared core values and established political interests. It is these considerations that its leaders will put on the table before the leadership of other zones who share their common goals, principles and objectives. It is from these resource pool that a national elitist ideology and consensus will evolve and which shall form the basis of a true and enduring National Party. For the avoidance of doubt I am not advocating that the formation of national parties is a must, neither I am saying that there is anything wrong in the existence if regional, provincial or zonal political parties which can be the building blocks if a grand national alliances as we see in other democracies of the world including Israel and others. Parties that a formed by individuals, or a clique, or for some group interest, or by political or national icons, or around presidential aspirations of individuals or sections of the country, will never serve the overall interest of Nigeria or its people. They may prevail for a while, but they will not endure. All they will do is to serve the interests of the founders and slow the wheel of socioeconomic economic progress and advancement of the country. Okupe made headlines early this year when he was pictured prostrating and rolling on the floor, pleading with ex-president, Olusegun Obasanjo for 'disobeying' his 'orders'. http://politicsngr.com/apc-no-political-pedigree-doyin-okupe/ cc : lalasticlala

Presidential spokesman says emir has 'got the facts wrong' Says government has overdrawn its central consolidated account Spokesman to president Muhammadu Buhari, Garba Shehu has responded to remarks made by the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, that the CBN was illegally funding the Nigerian government. Sanusi revealed that the CBN's lending to the government since Buhari came to power spiked from N1.5 trillion to N4.5 trillion. In the Emir's words; The CBN-FGN relationship is no longer independent. In fact, one could argue their relationship has become unhealthy. CBN claims on the FGN now tops N4.7 trillion — equal to almost 50% of the FGN’s total domestic debt. This is a clear violation of the Central Bank Act of 2007 (Section 38.2) which caps advances to the FGN at 5% of last year’s revenues. Has CBN become the government’s lender of last or first resort? In response to this, Shehu wrote; With every respect to the Emir, you know he is my ruler, because I come from Kano. He doesn't have his facts as far as those issues are concerned. The issue in CBN, that government has overdrawn its Central Consolidated Account is true, but the overdrawing is within limits. The overdraw does not exceed 1.5 trillion. It is incorrect to say, as he did that the account was overdrawn by 4.5 trillion. But even assuming that he was correct. This is a government that has money in excess the amount he mentioned in the Treasury Single Account, TSA. It is just like you, a bank customer operating two accounts, one in the red and the other, well funded to the point that it can at any time wipe the indebtedness on the other. Would any bank manager lose their sleep over this? This, I am told is what the IMF found at the CBN and they said it is perfectly normal. As for his opposition to the USD 30 billion loan, I'am aware that the Minister of Finance is responding to that. As a private citizen, I want to read his statement again. I thought that the borrowing is for projects that include the railway development in Kano, his own city. http://politicsngr.com/emir-kano-not-facts-right-garba-shehu/
