People from other faculties are barred from nearing d election venue at environmental building.

A fight nearly broke out wen a car with Faniyi posters stopped at d election venue in front of environmental.

Guyz from environmental don't need competition in dia votes....therefore they are barring perceived opponents.

I just saw a piece of paper with some names written on it. These are d names of those they said we shld vote for. Hahahahaha.

I pray no fight breaks out. Bcoz students are gradually overpowering school security.

This pix here shows d names I saw on d piece of paper at environmental. Please note that all d faculties have different list like dis depending on who they want. Enjoy!

Politics / Live Updates Of Yabatech SUG Election!!! by AmorSincero(m): 11:18am On Oct 09, 2013
There is currently an election going on at Yabatech for different offices in d SUG.

The 3 contestants for the post of d president are : (in no order o)

1. Babajide Salvador
2. Faniyi James
3. Paul Abah.

Religious, ethnic and familiarity sentiments are taking its tolls in d election.
Everybody believes the best candidate wud av been Paul Abah, but he is from Benue State......he's got little chances.

The Yorubas are also divided btw Salvador who is a muslim and Faniyi James who is a christain.

I am currently standing in d queue at d School of Environmental.

There are other candidates from other ethnic groups who have got chances of winning in other offices. For example, some aspirants for the post of Welfare Director, Financial Sec, Assistant Gen. Sec are all Ibos! And they are d front runners..

Let's see how d election goes. I hope the best candidates win!

Yabatech....the first is still the best!

Update:

Some rooms in complex hostel have been "sealed". These rooms are believed to be occupied by d cultists.

Although there are some mistakes. Example room 99 in phase2 has been wrongly sealed thinking it's been occupied by "them"

Students have resumed their normal activities. As I type this thing now, am watching the rector's cup in d sports complex.

Riot broke out at d yaba college of technology last night when a sports member was beaten by some alleged members of "".

The victim, Mr Chinonso, is said to be leader of karate in d college.
This morning, all the sports members mobilized and declared war on d cultists.

They started by closing the two gates and closing all class rooms. These sports members also have the full support of all other students who had been angered by d comments of Dean Students Affairs.

The dean's comments;
....Forgive and forget
....that one person was injured doesn't you all will die for him.
.....we will compasate the students
.....I knw dem, I eat and dine with them.

This Dean of students affairs, Mr Raheem, has always been accused of being the main sponsor of "" in d college.

The picture attached here is a press release from d students union this morning.

Don't ask me for source o. I'm a student in d school. And am staying in d complex hostel. I would av taken pictures of d riot, but some people who tried don't have funny stories to tell.

Change church? Yes, but only in heaven when I will sing with the Cherubim and Seraphim.

But on earth here, born a Catholic, Baptized a Catholic and will die a Catholic.

Literature / Chimamanda Adichie’s ‘americanah’ Wins American Prize by AmorSincero(m): 4:54pm On Jul 17, 2013
This lady has been making lot of headlines lately!

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s third novel AMERICANAH has been awarded the 2013 Chicago Tribune Heartland Prize for fiction.
The Heartland Prize is a literary prize created in 1988 by the Chicago Tribune Newspaper.
According to Elizabeth Taylor, the literary editor of the Chicago Tribune, the prize is awarded yearly in two categories, fiction and non-fiction, to books that are concerned with American issues, causes and concerns.
“We loved AMERICANAH. It’s a powerful, resonant novel and we would be delighted to celebrate it and try to share it with a wider audience,” Taylor wrote.
Reacting, Adichie expressed delight at the honour.

“I’m very pleased. You never know what will happen when you write a novel. And for me, a Nigerian, to have written this book which is partly about America, and to receive this quintessentially American prize means that I have said something about America as seen through Nigerian eyes that Americans find interesting.

“I take that as a wonderful compliment. It reminds me of the ability of literature to make us become briefly alive in bodies not our own.”
Past fiction winners of the Heartland Prize include Jonathan France for his novel FREEDOM and Marilyn ne Robinson for her novel GILEAD
The prize will be awarded on November 3, 2013 at an audience-attended event hosted in partnership with the Chicago Humanities Festival in Chicago.

Politics / Appeal Court Frees Al Mustapha!!!! Jeeezzzzz!! by AmorSincero(m): 12:55pm On Jul 12, 2013
Our judges I salute oooooooo.

Court of Appeal frees Al-Mustapha

Hamza Al-Mustapha, who has been standing trial for the murder of Kudirat Abiola, has been discharged and acquitted by the Court of Appeal.

The verdict overturns the death sentence that was imposed on both men by the Lagos High Court.

In declaring his verdict, the presiding judge accused the lower court of being “stroked to secure a conviction by all means.”

The former chief security officer to former president Sani Abacha, was sentenced to death on January for conspiracy and murder of Mrs. Abiola, who was shot in Lagos on June 4, 1996.
