Ah.. I see. In such situation, I prefer to be “oh yes” member. Any unsolicited advice, answer “okay” politely and let it enter one ear and exit through the other. The ones u solicit for, still agree with them “okay” politely then ponder on their contribution, sieve it and take the useful ones. Exit yourself when they become pushy or try to impose. Use wisdom for peace to reign. Na so e be during omugwo sef. Mama with their own and us with our own.. Na to blend and enlighten

My DD of 2 months always keeps her hand in a fist. She rarely opens it wide and let it be open. Our neighbour is suggesting that my DD has might have 'nta' (in igbo). She said that 'nta' will not allow my DD to put on adequate weight. I kinda agree with the weight issue cos her birth weight was 4.3kg and her weight at 6 weeks was 5.3kg. Aside the weight issue + groaning when pooping or farting, my DD does not have any other significant issue I know.
Please sabi mamas, is there such a thing? If there is, what is the remedy? Please help me.
Say what now? Pls let her grow in peace biko. She’s very okay. They keep their hands fisted for a while that’s the default position from womb. She’ll learn to open up as grows. It definitely won’t be fisted from about 5months old.

Groaning when pooping is also normal, she’s just figuring out which muscle to contract to make the poop come out. As long as your feeding her right, the groaning will stop too before 6months old. Infact, since she’s a girl child, pour water from a distance directly on her clit when bathing her, she’ll instinctively begin to pee and poop. Don’t stop till she’s done. This trick should work for her now she’s little.

Kindly learn and study your baby, as long as a baby is born healthy without any medical complications, that baby is bound to grow normally. There’s a wide range of NORMAL that every child follows, study your baby and find your baby’s unique NORMAL.

Please help o
Dunno of anything u can use apart from the doctor’s prescribed antibiotics and cough syrup. In my experience, I think their cold takes a while to clear. Catarrh and running nose can also take what seems like forever to clear once it’s starts.

Follow the prescription and keep an eye on it. So ur certain it’s not getting worse. It’s supposed to gradually get better, from the chesty cough, to normal surface cough, to sneeze, to goodbye cough.

Good day, pls what kind of rashes is dis and what can be used to clear it
This looks like very very angry heat rash.

The weather is very hot. Pls dress baby accordingly. No long sleeve, or thick clothing. Singlet and socks is ok for afternoon weather with diaper or nappy on the bum. Only cover him up if Ac is on OR fan at night(still with maybe light overall).

For now, let the back breathe. Only light singlet that’s free and allow air touch his body. Do not scrub his body hard so u don’t open up the rash, just wash him/her mildly with warm/cool water. This way, it can heal without u reopening them in the name of bathing. Because of heat, apply only thin layer of baby tribotan, wait a bit then apply Agnesia or prickly heat powder to help soothe him.

Also visit the hospital to hear the doctor’s say cos it looks angry. All the best momma. Take solace in the fact that this too shall pass and baby will be okay...........eventually.

please what is nlacha
It’s a skin issue that starts out presenting like small round patches with a clear center. The patches begin to spread bigger and bigger. I experienced it with my 2nd child. I even posted on it (you’ll prolly see it if u flip the pages way backward). I visited hospitals, private and government. A grandma I saw at the government hospital told me it’s eela (eela is the Yoruba name and nlacha is the Igbo name) and to find the red flower. This happened at about 2month old. Cleared off before 5months. I still have the images on my phone. The thing almost made me go crazy, cos the harder I battled it, it just kept spreading.

First image is the manifestation on my 2nd born, then the red flower I hunted down, then the water of the red flower I used to bath baby for about a week.

It is not normal. NL mothers will tell you it is normal. Sometimes they know more than their physicians Believe them now and regret later. See your doctor for advice. Many mothers here are giving bad advice. Eg: let's waite and see, na so ee do my pikin now it is alright. The more you waite the longer it takes to correct

What do u mean by bad advice? That’s a rather baseless accusation don’t u think? This group i believe is about moms supporting each other with their own experiences. I personally told her it would resolve cos I’ve had such experience which resolved at about 4-5months.

Don’t discredit every moms input just like that. Yes, there’s always the rare case that it’s something serious but 2month old is too early to doom the situation. She ought to observe it till at least 4months old. I’ve read comments like go to the hospital here a lot too. So please, state your opinion without tainting another’s.

Google is a double edged sword. It covers all bases. Type u have a headache and they’ll present u with all options ranging from it being “just a headache” or “beginnings of a brain tumor”. Chances its a tumor is slim right?.

Please Mamas I want to ask, is it normal for babies eyes to lookin different directions
I believe it is. At this early age, she’s still getting a hang on things. Eye crossing is normal, and would sort itself out as she grows.

What is the effective remedy for nlacha (in igbo)? Thank you
I experienced it with my second child. Doc prescribed baby tribotan, used for 2weeks, no change. Prescribed hydrocortisone cream, still no change. I practically used these creams as body cream. Decided to go local with the red flower bath, and dropping some into the mouth, still nothing. I then removed my focus and it gradually disappeared. So I really don’t know if those things worked or it just ran it’s course and left on its own.

Hi mama,I feel so terrible today. My 5 month old fell down from the bed today,im still amazed at how it happened cos I just checked on him few minutes
Ouch! Sorry baby. This happens to most moms(myself included). It takes a split second. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Just like momma Babygirl2020 has said, if there’s no bleeding, swelling or unusual behavior, he’s most likely ok. I tell u, the angels of these kids are always on duty. These kids are the strongest. Let me tell u my story, if it would make u feel less terrible and put a smile on your face.

Mine had his first fall at 6months old, I had been scared of this happening cos he wakes up and just begin moving without making a sound. I can’t forget the sound of that awful plunk followed by a loud cry. The sound haunts me till this day. I swear I almost had a heart attack when I heard it. I held and apologized to him, I felt so horrible, so much so that after he had settled back down, I climbed on the same bed and let myself fall freely(head first. Hahahahaha). It hurt a lot and I decided to take him to the hospital. Doc said he was fine.

I got home and kept lashing at myself still, I should’ve added more pillows, etc. Do u know he slept again, I carried pillows and mounted all round him, only for me to come check on him (I was too alert this time) and find him climbing and almost scaling over the pillows! Ha!! Chim oo!! See me o!! I said oh No!! It’s not me u will kill! He started sleeping on the ground after that. Make oyibo no kill me jare.

Please do not allow anyone to cause you to panic because they want to sell their market. That is wickedness

1. Is he good with "academic" speech (counting, colours, alphabets etc) or he has zero words?
2. Does he play well with others or is he withdrawn?
3. Is he responding well to potty training?
Thank you.
1. Zero actual words for now. Tomorrow is day 7 of school. There’s little improvements already.
2. We stay alone, so that made him withdrawn from other adults. He used to like kids totally and would leave me to go play and have fun with them when we go out, but now, it seems like he just tolerates being in the midst of kids.
3. Moderately. Since he can’t say “wee-wee” I resort to timing him and take him to pee every 45min to 1hr.

Dear mama, it's a long read but I will encourage u to read.....

Wen my son was a year, he had more than 10words,..

Let me not bore u....
Did I regret my impatience? Sort of
Did he get better? Absolutely
I saw your post quoted just now, I thought to myself, “this story is related to mine.”!! I began to flip the pages backwards till I found the original post and realized you quoted me. I have somehow missed the entire page.

I started to read with a stupid smile glued to my face cos I could relate. My heart is already making all those steps, but my brain keeps cautioning me to observe his progress first since I’ve just enrolled him for the first time ever. Then suddenly, it became very emotional and frozen like ice water was dumped on me. Am sorry u had to go through that horror and extremely thankful u shared your story.

Am overjoyed with the happy ending. Good to know his ok and speaking again. A simple “mommy” or anything would mean the a lot to me too. But I know it will happen, just have to wait a little while longer.

You did what any mom would do. Strive to seek and provide help for the child. After all, they said early detection and intervention is key to solving the problem. I would do same were it not for the encouragement and input from momma’s here. The negative is just devil failing in its plot. You conquered, he’s okay. That’s the silver lining. You did great momma. Thank you. Thank you.

Infact eh, weather is very hot this period. Either I dress my baby in singlet and socks only at night and put the fan on lowest or wear her overall and set the AC at 24degrees. The weather hot die. The sweat won’t let them sleep well. By December sha, I believe the weather will be cool again.

Rashes that appear like tiny pimples on the face are perfectly normal and would clear on its own. I think it’s caused by the hormones they encountered during pregnancy. I believe by 1-2months old, she’ll have that clear chubby rosy face. Enjoy your bonding momma. She’s okay.

I understand your dear as I encountered such with my son (he's 4 now), at 2 and half he's speak was so limited and not understandable. Here are a few points that helped with him:
1. Make sure to talk to him even when he gives response you don't understand, make sure to continue communicating with him.
2. Since he's just starting school, follow up to make sure he's free there and have friends to talk to. I had to change my son's school when I noticed he wasn't free with others there and it helped.
3. Allow him watch children cartoons (you can restrict the hours he uses), I noticed when my son finally started talking he was using big grammars he got from he's cartoons and he already know what they means.
4. If it's possible to get a child of his age to come live with you please do so. Although my son's speech improves after he joined the new school, I noticed a very fast improvement after his cousin started staying with us.
5. If all these does not help, I'll advise taking him to a specialist.
Thank you for the pointers momma. I enrolled him already. I’ll look into your fourth point. Perhaps we should go for a holiday to visit his cousins as well.

I think you should let him start school immediately or be in an environment where he can play with other kids that can speak very well.

Also, make sure you communicate with him as if you want him to respond. Even if he didn't respond, just keep doing it. I believe you will start seeing good changes soon by God's grace.
Amen and amen. Thank you. I already finalized and his off to school from tomorrow. It’s a first step while I consider further interventions if need be. I definitely speak to him. When I ask tell him “can u say good morning, can u say mommy, etc. He just smiles, and averts his head. Same thing he does each time I prompt him.

We would have adviced a series of hyperbaric oxygen threament now that the problem is just starting. No child with an ASD should be denied HBOT as several autism kids have a blood flow and oxygen delivery deficit in the brain.

Hello moms, pls I need advice and possibly real life experiences of anyone that have been through this. My DS will be 2years in 2weeks time. I didn’t worry, until recently that I began looking at schools for his enrollment come January.
1. He used to have about 10words in his vocabulary as at 14month old, and would readily repeat whatever u ask him to say. He would also turn around at the mention of his name. But he suddenly stopped saying actual words and resorts to occasional blah blah blabbing, wouldn’t talk no matter how much I prompt him. Doesn’t respond to his name either (noticed this after I came home with DD from the hospital after delivery, he also began sucking his tongue at this point). His hearing is perfect, that am sure. I believed it is cos of our isolated environment and introverted nature and he’ll pick up once he starts school and mixes up with kids his age. However, school admins of almost all the school I’ve been to say it’s very unusual for a kid his age to not communicate at all. Have anyone experienced this? Should I be very worried? Should he resume school immediately? Plus he has delayed teething. Still at 5teeth currently, has anyone experienced this level of delayed teething? His sucking of tongue habit is getting worse the more caution and spank his lip, will he stop this u think?

Am up this late with worry and browsing. What am seeing is not so encouraging. I feel like I let this happen. I shouldn’t have kept him isolated for this long. Maybe he should have started school since he began walking. Am so confused. At the same time trying to make sure am not in denial.

Hello mothers, join me in giving thanks to almighty God. The struggle of 4 years is now over. I have been ttc but no results. I realized that I always ovulated on CD 12 and not on CD 14 as I made myself to believe. So I had been missing it all these years.
So this year I decided to get the OPK and leave nothing to chance. I started taking pregnacare conception, I also visited a gyne and he placed me on folic acid, DHEA and letrozole, I did TVS and I was sure I was ovulating, he gave me dates to BD but unfortunately my DH couldn't travel down. I continued taking the DHEA and on CD2 of my next cycle, I started another round of letrozole whilst still taking the folic acid daily, I was also taking vitamin C 1000mg and zinc 100mg daily. I was eating cucumber every other night before bedtime, I stopped taking cold water too, just drank room temperature water and wore slippers indoors.
I did BSF and BD on CD11, on CD 12 at about 1pm I got my peak on the OPK, I BD that day and the next day too. The I started my TWW, every sign i felt I prayed for it to be implantation lol.
By 10 DPO I did a HPT and I saw a very very faint line, I thought I was imagining it. I kept testing every two days and the line kept getting darker.
I got my BFP, the Lord that has started this will see me through it to the end. Baby dust to you all. God will definitely do it for you, just believe it.
Congratulations.. Have a stress free 9months mama. A lot get misled by these cycle apps and all. Missing ovulation over and over. Tracking is a sure way to detect and confirm ovulation. Some ovulate CD9/CD18/CD21. Until you've tracked from CD1-Cycle end, don't give up on ovulation.

Hi mothers, by 4weeks old is constipated, she strains and sounds for hours sometimes days before she poos, she takes nan baby milk, which i introduce to her last week becos my breast is really sour, the pain is too much for me bear, that i can't keep up with her demands, pls what can i give her to ease the constipation. She has being trying to poo since yesterday all to no avail. She drinks lots of water, and make sure the milk is very light
Wow Ubiero, haven't heard that trick before. Oh how I love this support group of mommas, there's something new to learn each time u visit.

Just to add, how do you know she's constipated? The groans and struggles and cries of discomfort associated with pooping at this age are very normal. It doesn't signify constipation. It's just them trying to figure out how to poop. Sometimes the dont succed in getting it out but they eventually do. If the poop is strong/hard/formed, then u can diagnose constipation. But if it's still soft and kinda watery then she's not constipated.

There's no definite number of poop per child. Your baby's poop rhythm is unique to her. There's only an average that's wide to encompass every child. So while some poop 7 or more times a day, others poop 0-1time a day. Most important thing is she getting enough food intake. How her system uses up the meal at different stages of her growth is entirely unique to her.

If the poop isn't hard (that is, still soft and watery-like) then she's fine. Kindly refer to my earlier post on a certain trick with Warm water that helps the girl-child poop easily. However, if she's truly constipated, I also heard pumping warm soapy water into the anus helps bring the hard poop out almost immediately (there's a special child pump for this purpose).

Lastly, sorry about your sore boob. Don't give it too much of a break. Constantly pump it to maintain your flow and reduce pain. If hubby doesn't mind, he can also help you with this(he doesnt have to swallow of course #smiles). Also Using formula, follow the directions of the product. Don't add or subtract. Nothing like LIGHT or HEAVY formula preparation. Your just messing with the child's tummy. Follow instructions and maintain it strictly. As long as its for the child's age, it'll be OK.

Good afternoon mamas.
I’m a FT mum to a one month old. Recently, I noticed my daughter groans while trying to poo, but her poo looks normal
What could be wrong and what can I use to stop this.
Thank you
It's very normal momma. She's just trying to figure out which muscle to contract that'll make the poop come out. Sometimes it frustrates her when she tries and she can't get the poop out, hence the grunts and cries. But she'll outgrow it when she's 3-4months tops.

In the meantime, there's a trick to help the girl-child with this. Steadily pouring warm water from a little distance on her labia during bath time helps them to contract the right muscles instinctively. When pouring the WARM water, she'll pee and poop. Keep pouring until she empties her bowel(you'll know it's empty when she's pushing and no poop is coming again). Sometimes she'll just pee and no poop.. Just means there's no poop in her bowel at that time. If you do this, she won't grunt as much again cos she doesn't feel the need to poop.

I don't think there's a trick in this aspect for the boy child... At least none I know of.

My experience.

So kindly pay attention to LO while cleaning so u know when s/he has held breath for too long, when this happens, remove your hand from mouth and let them coordinate and catch their breath.
