PoliticsRe: IBB’s Memoir Has Exposed Origin Of Banditry, Corruption, Igbo Marginalization by Anatolia: 8:19pm On Feb 25, 2025
Let's call a spade, a spade. The 1966 coup was an Ibo coup. That is the whole truth! The same Ibo's were used to oppose Awolowo in the past by the North and now the North is using the Yorubas against Obi. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. The people who are ruining Nigeria are the Yorubas for supporting an incompetent fellow such as Tinubu.

I have said it , this our people from the south west are very intelligent but so many of their elites such as pastors, obas, politicians lack the moral compass to lead Nigeria. They lack administrative acumen.

I support ibo people but 1966 coup was an ibo coup although there were a few addition from other tribes. IBB is a proven liar. If it was not why was no ibo person killed.

Lukman is a great player. I think the coach is in perfect order. A player is not bigger than the coach. If there are defined penalty takers, Ademola should follow the rules. We Nigerians keep supporting bad behavior especially when the person is talented.

The OP worries too much! You have been on the mountain of loneliness and being broke for too long. Why does your apartment have to be furnished before you marry your wife? You get those things as you pricey in life. You need to start making moves regardless of your circumstances.

Alakoriomo:
I think Hollywood has damaged people perception. Let me tell you , people who live on a minimum wage anywhere in the world in the world aren’t living! Doesn’t matter where you are. Also, food banks are not littered everywhere in the US, and the rarest of cases where you have one, u can only get veg oil, some eggs if lucky, soap, oat, milk sometimes . And who pray to live in section 8 housing? Do you pray such for ur family? You’re talking in the extreme base on thr kind poverty that have wrecked our mind as Nigerian. Anyone who depend on section 8 housing can as well kpai himself cuz he is in for some shit that can damage a sane mind .
Like I said earlier on, you are disconnected from reality. You imagine an ideal world where all things are good. Whether you like I or not staying in a government provided housing or having food banks make a lot of difference for people who would otherwise steal, kill or beg to eat.

@33, I'm more afraid of the future

So reality is dawning on me for the tasks ahead.

Presently 33 with N85k/month salary job

During my days in school, I had thought life will be far better after school but here I am earning 85k/month and that is money that cannot even meet my immediate needs and not to talk of wants and unto other responsibilities.

You worry too much!

By age, I'm supposed to have been married but still living in one room which is not advisable to even think of marriage in this condition.

To arrange myself for marriage, I need at least a one bedroom, furnished and comfortable. The yearly rent for that is about 400-450k

Then I am also worried about renewing the rent every year, year and year.

How about catering for the family? Aside rent, feeding, school fees (once married, you begin to reproduce), medical, clothing and so so and so forth.

To live a good life, you need a car for mobility sake as a family.

I can't continue to pay rent. Meaning I need to build a house.

Obviously, the 85k salary is not enough. I need to start a business.

And so many other issues giving me stress and sleepless night.

So my worry is, where would i get the money to do all these with these kind of job i am doing? For years i may not even raise a million naira.

I have seen situations where people no longer able to change clothes just because they now have a family and I'm trying to avoid that by all means.

I'm really really afraid of the future.

I feel there shouldn't be any future.

The comparison came from you people always saying if you earn in dollars you are not stressed, so I said let's compare it to those making millions of Naira per month but are now exposed to the costs associated with living abroad such as high utilties and rent, would that person earning millions in 9ja be able to afford anything if his or her costs were like those abroad?

Reason am, na you no get empathy for those making minimum wage abroad claiming they have only themselves to blame, well same can be said of Nigerians making 70k or less per month, only person to blame na YOURSELF!

Finally, I left 9ja 15 years ago but I come home regularly at least every year and have numerous investments in 9ja, I know fully well of the reality on ground!
From my comments, I agreed that you would be stressed no matter where you are but it is a different kind of stress in Naija. Naija case is an issue of survival, like you would not be able to feed. In America, there are food banks to help people who are hungry. Do you have such in Naija. There is section 8 housing in America, do you have such in Naija?

Same Nigeria you have people making millions per month and they live better than some people in the USA. I've been living and working in the USA for 15 years, e be like say the movies you dey watch dey deceive you, the three jobs you mentioned, hope you saved money for health issues, back when I just got to the USA, one week working at the factroy I know wetin my body see and that was in a good economy o, the economy nowadays you go get luck if you have a full time job not to talk of 2 or 3 at the same time grin grin

Yes cleaners drive cars but can you pay car note? Most car purchase are financed as long as you have a job and no bad thing on your credit profile. Furthermore, you can buy a car but you fit pay car insurance? Imagine buying car for 8k and you're spending like $2k per year to maintain insurance on it.......I swear most of una don't really know what's going on grin grin grin
Bro, your comments show you are disconnected from the reality of Nigeria. You left Naija 15 years ago when things were still good in Naija. How many people Dey earn the millions you are talking about. The vast majority of people are earning 100 x less than that. In 2021, cleaners were paid 8k in Naija and they were still owed 6 months arrears in a public organization.

You're still missing the point, in Nigeria you can still rent a room for peanuts, abroad it would cost you an arm and a leg. You're focusing on one thing (food) rather than the entire picture (rent, food, taxes, utilities etc.). Let me paint a better picture for you, how can someone be earning over 2 million Naira per month in 9ja and still not be able to afford rent on a 2 bedroom flat? No be juju be that?

This is the situation minimum wage workers face in the USA, they earn the money but the cost no make sense. Give that man in 9ja one million per month and then ask him to pay 5 times the rent, 3 times the electricity bills and so on, that man will not be able to afford SHIN SHIN! So abeg all stress na stress, na until you find yourself in such situation you go know say no be only people in 9ja dey suffer!
Bro, the USA is a land of opportunities. You can literally work three jobs. Cleaners drive cars that is how good things are. If you cannot afford basic things in the US na your fault. Nigeria even if you try your best, everything will stop frustrate you. Suffering pass suffering.

Comprehension is the problem here, what I wrote was clear and concise enough! Go back to my original comment, anybody making the minimum wage in any country is not LIVING, such a person is just SURVIVING! Whether you're in 9ja or USA, if you earn the minimum, even the smallest of costs would cause you to stress!
Okay, there is no doubt anyone who is not a millionaire will be stressed. But stress has grades. The person chose to buy fruits which are optional. That same 32 dollars can get you one month worth of regular chicken for a single individual. This can be earned in 5 h. How much chicken can the Nigerian minimum wage of 5h afford and how long will it last?

You're reasoning without reality, Nigeria jagajaga hence why nothing surprises most of us but imagine Nigeria was a great country and you still dey earn the lowest of the low income, you go happy? You go happy if someone came up to you and said $32 on groceries is nothing, you should be grateful?
Your argument is not coherent. On one hand you said I am reasoning without reality and on another hand you are saying imagine Nigeria. You definitely are living in delulu land and need to comeback to reality.
