Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) national leader and former governor of Lagos State, has accused the Jonathan presidency of betraying its social contract with the people by suddenly removing fuel subsidy.

He, however, provided a window out of the crisis:

if subsidy must be removed at all, it must never be at one fell swoop. Rather it must be on calibrated phrases, on which the promised gains are measured and confirmed before moving to the next phase of removal.

“Government must modify the sudden and complete removal of the subsidy. Either we restore the subsidy or use the funds for other social purposes.

,” Asiwaju Tinubu counselled in a special release he captioned, ‘Removal of oil subsidy – President Jonathan breaks social contract with the people’ and which he personally signed.

“If we are to use the funds for other programmes, these programmes shall be placed on parallel track with the subsidy. As more of these programmes are ready to go on line, then the subsidy can be lifted in phases” he continued. “In this way, the public is assured government will not lower its total expenditure on their behalf, thus maintaining the spirit central to the social contract.”*

But the former governor cautioned the federal government against economic policies that tend to balance the books at the detriment of the people’s welfare.

“As there is progressive politics, there is progressive economics. As there is elitist politics, there is elitist economics,” Asiwaju Tinubu explained. “It all depends on what and who in society government would rather favour.

The Jonathan tax,” he declared, “represents a new standard in elitism.”
But the ACN national leader cautioned the president against being captive to economic orthodoxy and its local purveyors, who always look at the Nigerian economy as nothing until when tied to the apron strings of the conservative orthodoxy.

“Because he is slave to wrong-headed economics,” Asiwaju Tinubu said of President Goodluck Jonathan, “the people will become enslaved to greater misery. This crisis will bear his name and will be his legacy. The people now pay a steep tax for voting him into office.

The removal of the subsidy is the ‘Jonathan tax’,” he insisted. “The situation shows that ideas count more than personalities.

Insisting that the subsidy removal was ill-timed he said there must be some conditions precedent before such a step could be taken

“First government needs to clean up and throw away the salad of corruption in the NNPC [Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation]. Then, proceed to lay the foundation for a mass transit system in the railways and road network with long term bonds and,” he added, “fully develop the energy sector towards revitalising Nigeria’s economy and easing the burden any subsidy removal may have on the people.”

This Tinubu had some sense before. However, blinded by ambition, he supported the Buhari. When he saw that Buhari could get away with his evil policies based on support from the North , he decided to follow the Buhari example of terrible leadership in an even worse manner forgetting his initial idea of how to deal with subsidy.

If I am pragmatic, peaceful protests doesn’t produce results. It is the same as complaining. Things will continue as usual from the government’s perspective. Protests need some elements of violence to receive government attention. I am not saying people should loot.

Obidigbo is a sycophant. Buhari did poorly as a president. However, the current hardship is not the fault of Buhari or Tinubu’s cabinet. Tinubu due to his ego and impulsiveness created an existential crisis before his cabinet was assembled. As we can see, his cabinet is building on his failed agenda.

If you go state by state in the South West, you would know that they are not all the same. Oyo people seem to be hardworking and detribalized. Ekiti poor people , tribalistic as a state but not into skull mining. Osun likes schooling, hardworking and a little of skull mining. This week Saturday is our baby's naming ceremony but my wife is insisting that her pastor must be the one officiate the naming the child, we've been disagreeing over this for some couple of days now,

she has called me all sorts of names, insulted me that I'm a very wicked man that I have no conscience, that after she pain and tearing she went through and still going through, I can't make this as a sacrifice for her, that I choose my family over her. She said so because my family also insist too that the naming must be done by our pastor.

But she's keying on the fact that she won't agree for the naming to be done in my church that it must be done by her pastor, she has cried and insulted me regarding this. Yesterday when we were arguing about this same particular issue she starting crying endlessly and calling me a wicked man.

I have finally agreed for her to use her pastor to do the naming, although I don't know her pastor and haven't seen him before, but I only agreed because of the CS operation she did while giving birth, her endless crying might affect her, if not there's absolutely no way possible I'd have agreed.

I must say that she doesn't know the repercussions of what sha has done by challenging my authority and always wanting to have her way with tears all the time. But time sha tell, I'm in so much rage right now, and I'm trying my possible best to control myself and not to loose my anger over this.

Try to obey your wife at first before you stamp your way otherwise you could be heading for divorce if you continue to struggle with her.
