For my Mum's application. About two to three weeks - after several reminders and live chat to follow up. It was updated immediately during one of the live chats as I was very persistent.

How did you access the live chat? I'm logged in on AVITS but I can find it. Thanks.

Has anyone here recently filled another DS-160 form and updated it on AVITS? How long did it take?

Hi Ancorner.
Ds -160 (visa application) is a vital form and it mostly determine how your overall personality and application is viewed. Despite the fact that your Travel Passport usually carries old and new passport number but ds-160 is an individual application form which requires only your valid passport number.

Fill another ds-160 with her updated information, update the ds-160 in her avits profile and print another visa appointment letter for her. There is plenty of time for you to do this so don't hesitate. 👍

My mom's interview is scheduled for next month (May). The Nigerian passport she used for her visa application will expire in February 2026, so she recently renewed it some days ago. The new one has both the new and old passport numbers in it.

Does she need to update her DS-160? She plans to take both current and renewed passports along for the interview.

My mum’s visa was approved yesterday in Lagos, and it still feels surreal. This was her second attempt we applied for B2 visa category for her and unlike the first time, everything happened so quickly. We got to the embassy, and in less than 20 minutes, she was done.

Here’s how the conversation went:

VO: Good morning.
Mum: Good morning! How are you doing?
VO:Why are you traveling to the U.S.?
Mum: To visit my daughter, she just had a baby.
VO: How long do you plan to stay?
Mum: Two months.
VO: How did your daughter move to the U.S.? Mum: She got married and relocated.
VO: Are you married? If so, why isn’t your husband traveling with you?
Mum: Yes, I’m legally married. My husband and I agreed that I should be the one to go, while he stays back with one of our children in Nigeria until I return.
VO: Are you planning to get any medical treatment while in the U.S.?
Mum: No, not at all.
VO:How many children do you have?
Mum: Six, but sadly, one recently passed on.
VO: How many of them are in the U.S.?

Mum: No, this is her second child. She had her first in 2022, but my visa was denied back then.

At this point, the officer started typing, then suddenly excused herself for a moment. When she returned, she asked again:

VO: Are you sure you’re not going to the U.S. for medical treatment?
Mum: I’m very sure.

Then, the officer smiled and said, “I’ll be approving your visa. I hope you have a wonderful time with your daughter.”

My mum smiled back and said, “Thank you so much.”

Actually, the passport was initially returned due to the passport photograph being deemed too old. My mum retrieved the passport and resubmitted a new set of photos. The status changed to approved three days after the new photos were submitted.

Hi, how did your mom's interview go? What questions did they ask her? My mum has her own interview next month, so I want to have an idea of what they might ask. Thanks.

2. I concluded because you stated that you worship Jesus, but Jesus asked you to worship God not him. Jesus asked you to pray to God. You are praying to Jesus.

3. You stated yourself that you pray to Jesus. Except you pray to Jesus and you also pray to God. Jesus asked you to pray to God alone. Jesus and God are not equal.

4. You don't have to do as Jesus did, but you mentioned earlier that you worship Jesus. Then it's funny if you say you don't have to do as Jesus did, when you worship him.

You’ll receive an email once your request is approved." This seems new to me. Is this normal, and how long do they normally take to respond?
