20. ELECTRIC.

This hidden logo exhibits one of the best and clever use of negative space. Notice how a plug and a cord is extended through the word "Electric".

21. HELPING HANDS FOR PETS.

This logo design is a very creative use of negative space that shows many animals within one another. Inside the horse you will locate a dog, a cat and a bird.

22. CARREFOUR.

Carrefour Logo: This French international hypermarket chain translates to “intersection” in English. If you look very closely you will notice that the big “C” in the white space. The two arrows are pointing in opposite directions.

23. Egg and Spoon.

16. VAIO.

At first you just see the word VAIO, but look a little closer and you'll see the first two letters represent an analog symbol and the last two letters are binary.

17. FORMULA 1.

Between the letter F and the speed marks is the number one.

18. UNILEVER.

Unilever produces so many different products that sometimes it's hard to keep track of everything they do. Lucky for us, there's symbols for literally everything they make right in their logo.

19. TOBLERONE.

Notice anything?

13. BMW

It isn't general knowledge that BMW has a history in aviation and that its logo actually stays true to its roots. The blue and white represent a propeller in motion with the sky peeking through. In fact, BMW had a role in World War II as a creator of aircraft engines for the German military.

14. TOYOTA.

The three ellipses that are found in the logo for Toyota represent three hearts: the heart of the customer, the heart of the product, and the heart of progress in the field of technology.

15. PEPSI.

In 2008, Pepsi spent $1 million to pay Arnell Associates to come up with the new logo (the old is the on the left and the new on the right). As a result, Pepsi had to pay millions more to re-brand everything. Then Arnell's document was leaked and it was entitled, "Breathtaking Design Strategy." It proposes that the new logo is some kind of Da Vinci Code. According to Arnell's document, the Pepsi logo draws on Feng shui, the Renaissance, the Earth's Geodynamo, the theory of relativity, the universe, and more. For more, read it over at Gawker . There you have it: the Pepsi logo is the key to the universe.

9. MERCEDES- BENZ.

The Mercedes-Benz logo is the most confident one out of the bunch. The tri-star is representative of the company's dominance in quality and style over all things land, sea and air.

10. NBC

Yeah, it's a peacock, but did you ever wonder why it has so many colors? That's because, during the '50s, NBC's owner was RCA and they had just begun to manufacture color televisions. Since RCA wanted people still watching on black-and- white TV to know what they were missing, NBC created a colorful logo to adapt to the new technology.

11. VOLKSWAGEN.

The Volkswagen keeps its logo very simple but heartwarming as well. The 'V' and the 'W' can easily be seen. 'Volks', in German, means people, while 'Wagen' means car. It's the car for the people!

12. MOBIL.

The importance of this logo lies in its colors. The red is said to represent strength and the blue represents faithfulness and security that the company provides.

5. ADIDAS.

Ever notice that Adidas' symbol looks like a mountain? Well, that's exactly what it's supposed to mean. The three stripes, which was part of the original logo in 1967, never really meant anything. It was just supposed to be unique. In the '90s, though, they slanted the stripes so that it would represent a mountain, which stands for the obstacles people need to overcome.

6. FEDEX

The FedEx logo is a creative one! At first glance all you can really notice are the two different colors, but if you look closely you can see an arrow is created between the spaces of the letter 'E' and 'X', representing the company's forward-thinking ways and outlook towards the future.

7. AUDI

Four hoops...plain and simple, right? Well, wrong. In fact, each of these hoops represent the 4 founding companies of the Auto-Union Consortium way back in 1932: like DKW, Horch, Wanderer and Audi

8. GOOGLE.

Ever notice how the Google logo has four primary colors in a row then it's broken by a secondary color? This was entirely intentional. Google wanted to show that they don't play by the rules and are also playful without making the symbol bulky. To do that, they just used simple letters and colors.

Have you ever looked at a logo and wondered how they came up with it? What inspired them to put a half-bitten apple for Apple's logo? Well, you'd be surprised what these 10 modern logos actually represent and mean. Remember: there's a hidden meaning behind every logo!

1. AMAZON.

Your initial thought when looking at the Amazon logo might be that the arrow looks
like a smiley face, meaning Amazon is there to make its customers happy. Well, notice
that the arrow is pointing from the a to the z; representing the fact that Amazon
provides a variety of items for sale, literally from A to Z.

2. McDONALD'S

Yes, it really means "M" for McDonald's and there really isn't any other meaning McDonald's had intended. Instead, it came to mean something unintentionally by customers, at least according to design consultant and psychologist Louis Cheskin. In the '60s, McDonald's wanted to change their logo but Cheskin insisted on leaving the golden arches. He said it's because customers unconsciously recognize the logo as "symbolism of a pair of nourishing breasts" (via BBC ). Whether we unconsciously believe this or not, Cheskin convinced them and now the logo is one of the most recognizable in the world.

3. APPLE.

If you guessed that the Apple logo has to do with the creation story of Adam and Eve, then you guessed correctly. It represents the forbidden fruit from the "Tree of Knowledge"

4. IBM

IBM’s logo has a hidden message for the whole world hidden in the Big Blue logo that represents it’s company. The white lines passing through give the appearance of the equal sign in the lower right corner, representing equality.

Health / Pictures Of Blacks With Blue Eyes: Natural Phenomenon Or Genetic Mutation? by And9: 9:46pm On Jul 21, 2014
It is generally believed that black people do not possess blue eyes. The blue eyes has always been associated with the Caucasians (whites). In many scientific studies and a more recent one conducted by the Copenhagen University the genetic mystery of "blue eyes" is said to have originated from the northeast coast of the Black Sea.

So why are some few black people have "blue eyes' nowadays? The answer according to scientists could only be attributed to genetic mutation or Waardenburg syndrome (WS),which is a rare (1/40,000) disease characterized by sensorineural deafness in association with pig mentary anomalies and defects of neural- crest-derived tissues.

However,it is also a historical truth the Africans colonized Europe over 10,000 years ago and they were infact the first homo sapiens to cross Europe to Asia and south pacific. Could it also be that some blacks with blue eyes may have gotten blue eyes from their ancient African ancestors and whites that inter-bred during Africa`s colonization of Europe? This question has become more relevant as some few children born of both African/100% black parents possesses "blue eyes."

DEAD WAS THE CASE OF BRASIL...
Sports / James Rodriguez Of Colombia Can Be World's Best At Real Madrid. by And9: 11:18pm On Jul 07, 2014
The Colombians believe that he is ready to play for Real Madrid, they do not only say yes, they go a step forward.
“He is ready to be a starter for any team in the world,” they say. “This has been proven in the most prestigious tournament on the planet.” But if you suggest to those fans that it would not be easy to keep up with Madrid’s three star forwards – Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema – they go even further.
“He is already better than Cristiano and Messi at this time and is maybe the best player in the world,” they insist. Given such statements, I wonder myself why so few international football analysts had warned us of the threat James could pose to those teams facing Colombia at the World Cup.
The fact is that Colombians believe that his quality is based on leadership, quick thinking and remarkable vision around the opposition area when playing a final pass. A player with the perfect combination of skills to combine with the forwards ahead of him.
Real Madrid might be advised to take a look at a player with those characteristics. You do not need to push the Colombian fans too much to hear their clear opinion: “In Madrid, James could even outshine Cristiano.” It may sound like an exaggeration, but they are convinced and confident the time is right for the Monaco star to make the jump to the very top level of club football.

Sports / Rooney & Co Beware Van Gaal. by And9: 2:58pm On Jul 07, 2014
There are now just three games and four teams left. The end of this magnificent World Cup is in sight and while I can’t quite bring myself to contemplate a post-tournament world, the completed semi-final line-up pits four true international heavyweights against each other, each with a very real chance of claiming the ultimate prize.

The last team to secure their semi-final place was Louis Van Gaal’s Netherlands, and once again the incoming Manchester United manager played an integral part in the victory.
Van Gaal had stolen the headlines in the second round when he received plaudits for a late, bold
substituition in the game with Mexico. With fifteen minutes to go, Robin van Persie was withdrawn and replaced by Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. At the time of the switch, the Netherlands were losing 1-0. They went on to win 2-1 with Huntelaar slotting home the winning penalty with seconds left on the clock.
Against Costa Rica, van Gaal was at it again. Seconds before the end of extra-time, the Netherlands boss brought on Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul to replace Jasper Cillessen ahead of the penalty shoot-out. Krul saved two Costa Rican penalties and made himself a hero, vindicating Van Gaal’s surprising decision in the process.
These two decisions seem to sum up Louis van Gaal perfectly. He’s evidently a man that knows his own mind and isn’t shy about backing himself or taking tough choices on the biggest stage. He’s a single-minded and confident manager who isn’t worried about ruffling a few feathers.
These characteristics will sound familiar to Manchester United fans, and with the Old Trafford club hoping that Van Gaal will be the man to steer them back to the summit of the domestic game, it shouldn’t come as a great shock that the Dutchman boasts many of the same characteristics of Sir Alex Ferguson. Like Ferguson, Van Gaal is a larger than life manager, so how will he be received when he takes over at one of England’s biggest cubs? Despite his reputation as being egotistical and confrontational, Van Gaal arrives with an excellent track record and experience of managing at the top level and it’s for this reason that most will be looking forward to his presence in England. Having managed Ajax, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and the Dutch national team, among others, Van Gaal has enjoyed a career at the top of the game, dealing with some of the biggest names in world of football and it is these achievements that will afford him something of a free pass when it comes to his idiosyncrasies. After David Moyes suffered from a seeming lack of respect from his United charges, it’s unlikely that the same fate will befall Van Gaal.
He’s had a number of public disagreements with some of his players, but the majority of evidence points to him being a hugely respected coach. He’s also known for his meticulous preparation and attention to detail, ensuring he and his team are ready for every conceivable situation. In short, he’s hard working, experienced, bold, fearless and 100% confident in his ability to deliver.
He’s good and he knows it, so how will the fiercely partisan football fans of England react to the enigmatic Dutchman? Well, I for one am looking forward to him being a part of the Premier League. Unlike other ego-driven managers that have graced these shores, Louis van Gaal has a wealth of experience to point to. His CV is impressive, and by the end of the World Cup it could be enhanced further still.
When you’ve done what Louis van Gaal has done in the game, you earn the right to let your personality shine through and I think the majority of supporters will have at the very least a grudging respect for him. Until of course yet another tactical masterstroke sees him get one over on your team…

Sports / Van Gaal's No Legend, He's Disrespectful - Cannavaro. by And9: 2:19pm On Jul 07, 2014
Fabio Cannavaro has criticised Netherlands coach Louis Van Gaal ’s decision to take off goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen before his side's World Cup quarter-final shoot-out against Costa Rica , insisting the plaudits he is getting are undeserved.
The Oranje boss brought Tim Krul on in place of his starting goalkeeper in the last minute of extra-time in the last-eight tie as he believed the Newcastle United man would be better suited for spot kicks than Ajax's No.1.
Krul then saved two out of five penalties to put his country through - with Van Gaal earning praise in many quarters for the bold decision late in the game - but World Cup 2006 winner Cannavaro had an opposing stance on the topic.
"I know everyone is now treating Van Gaal like a legend or a magician for that change, but to be honest, it’s not something I like very much," the Italian told Globo Esporte .
"It’s disrespectful to the goalkeeper. Who will be the goalkeeper in the next game? Imagine going in goal for the next match and realising you do not have the 100 per cent faith of the coach."
Van Gaal later revealed that he had he had always planned to make the move if the match looked like it would be decided by a penalty shoot-out - but added that he had not told Cillessen about the decision, only Krul.
Netherlands will face Argentina on Wednesday in a World Cup semi-final to decide who will play in the final at the Maracana against either Brazil or Germany.

Health / Dangers Of Body Sprays. by And9: 1:36pm On Jul 07, 2014
Few seem to realize these air-freshener like spray deodorants contain synthetic fragrances that are made up of hundreds of chemicals, such as hormone-disrupting phthalates and synthetic musks, all of which have been associated with cancer.
In fact, the Environmental Working Group’s (EWG’s) consistently rates Axe, Old Spice, and other commercial body sprays and deodorants as moderate-to-high health hazards. Far from transforming men into virile beasts as the ads for these products suggest, the sprays may impede men’s chances of reproducing, as a recent analysis of popular men’s body sprays confirmed that many contain chemicals that can disrupt male hormones and damage sperm.

Even worse, a 2009 study from the EWG found that teenage boys and girls are particularly susceptible to hormone-disrupting chemicals like phthalates because of the ways the chemicals influence their rapidly developing reproductive systems. Animal studies have found that male rats exposed to phthalates during puberty had more testicular problems, and a report from the Journal for Applied Toxicology has suggested that there may be a link between spraying the hormone-disrupting chemicals contained in deodorants and breast cancer, especially those tumours found in the outer quarter of the breast. But these chemicals also have immediate effects on many full grown adults, too, including triggering asthma, eye and throat irritation, dermatitis, and more.

TOXIC CONTENTS :
Here are a list of common ingredients in the most popular body sprays and deodorants: Butane, Isobutane and Propane: Propellants.
Health effects: Headache; breathing difficulties; mood swings; nausea, to name a few. Like cigarette smoke, these propellants harm not only body spray users, but those around them, too.
Aluminium zirconium tetrachlorohydrex GLY. Aluminium chlorohydrate: Clogs pores to prevent sweat leaking through.
HEALTH EFFECTS :
Skin irritation; mental decline. Aluminium is absorbed through the skin and there is evidence that a lifetime’s use of aluminium-containing deodorants may lead to the development of Alzheimer’s disease. Can cause cancer – In women, a combination of underarm shaving and aluminium containing deodorants has been linked to breast cancer. Spray formulations mean you inhale, as well as absorb these compounds, more rapidly and deeply. 14 butyl ether: Preservative, solvent, antibacterial.

HEALTH EFFECTS :
Skin irritant, neurotoxin. PPG-14 butyl ether is a relative of propylene glycol and potentially toxic to the kidneys and liver. In the US it is a pesticide component. It is poisonous in high concentrations and can enhance the penetration of other more toxic chemicals. BHT – butylated hydroxytoluene: Antioxidant.

HEALTH EFFECTS :
Contact allergies/contact dermatitis. Cancer suspect. May cause reproductive defects. Once absorbed, BHT can accelerate the breakdown of vital nutrients such as vitamin D. Parfum (Synthetic): Body odour mask.

HEALTH EFFECTS :
Skin irritation, allergic reaction; breathing difficulties (including asthma);
headache (including migraine; dizziness, nausea). Many of these chemicals are persistent (ie, they don’t break down in the environment and they accumulate in human tissue and breast milk). Distearate: Moisturiser, emulsifier, emollient and antioxidant. Adding PEG to a product will prevent moisture loss during storage.

HEALTH EFFECTS :
cancer – Polyethylene glycol (PEG) compounds can be contaminated with various carcinogens, including ethylene oxide, 1,4-dioxane and polycyclic aromatic compounds (including benzene, benz(a)pyrene, DMBA, and 1-nitropyrene) – potential breast cancer triggers. Neurotoxic – PEGs can be contaminated with heavy metals such as lead, iron, cobalt, nickel, cadmium, and arsenic, which are toxic to the central nervous system.

Fortunately, there are several alternatives to perilous spray deodorants that you can make at home or buy. If you want to get all boho and create your own body deodoriser, baking soda can be mixed with a small amount of water or oil to cornstarch, to absorb moisture. The equivalent effect of antiperspirant deodorants can be obtained using witch hazel , as it constricts the pores so sweat can’t seep through and mix with the bacteria on the skin. Alcohol and lemon may even help kill bacteria that cause odours, and beeswax, mineral salts and essential oils are also tried and tested deodorant alternatives. Several brands, such as Neal’s Yard and Lavera, have created natural commercial deodorants too. You can see a few options below.

Brazil star Neymar was airlifted from Brazil's training facility in a helicopter on Saturday. He was taken home to be treated for the back injury he suffered in Friday's quarterfinal win over Colombia. The injury will keep him out of the remainder of the World Cup. Neymar was diagnosed with a broken vertebra following Friday's 2-1 win.

The Brazilian football confederation released a video on Saturday in which Neymar thanked fans for the support he has received. In the video, Neymar said his "dream is not over yet. It was interrupted by one play, but it will continue and I know that my teammates will do whatever possible so I can fulfill my dream of being a champion."

Fashion / How To Care For Baby Locs/dreads. by And9: 12:26pm On Jul 06, 2014
New locs are exciting to have, but worrisome at times. The anticipation of waiting for the hair to loc up is a treacherous journey
sometimes. Preoccupied about how long it will take to loc may overshadow some of the other obvious necessities in caring for baby
locs. The first day or so, they usually look very neat. Every one is in its own place and, if comb coils were used, they are very shiny and
cylindrical. They appear to be off to a great start. But after a week or so, the comb coils begin to get fuzzy, and the definitive parts may
begin to crawl together, making it hard to see each loc. Some people will be quick to find a remedy, inadvertently twisting the locs back
into place, but for many, that idea hasn’t come across the mind. Baby locs are like real babies, they fuss, but we can’t figure out what
they need, so through trial and error, we try things and they may or may not like it and calm down. The locking journey is temperamental.
Depending on the weather and how you are already feeling, they can be a joy to have or a frustration to deal with.
Here are some basics about baby locs/dreads: Cleansing your hair. While it was often mistaken that those who have
locs don’t wash their hair, there are a great many who, somewhere along the way, have been told or misinformed that they should not
wash their hair until it locks up. The problem with that is that the locs can take any where from 6 months to one year to form and solidify
and waiting that long to wash the hair is a great disservice to the overall health of the hair and scalp as well as the growth and
formation of healthy locs. How to clean baby locs. If you have had your locs started by comb
coils or just by twisting the hair around your finger, these will require the most diligence and patience. Because they are made of a single
coil, they are the easiest to unravel. If the hair is less than 3 inches long, this will also be a factor in how the locs can be cleaned. If you have just twisted a very short length of hair, it may be difficult to wash them because of the certainty of unraveling or loosening back into an afro.
For short comb coils/twists you can opt to use witch hazel or sea breeze (or a mix) on a cotton pad, and rub it across the scalp, gently.
This will gently clean the scalp and surface while acting as an astringent, battling any abrasions and unclogging pores. The scalp
will immediately feel refreshed, but you still may not be used to not immersing the hair in water, and soon the desire to wash will return.
The second thing you can do is to cover baby locs with a stocking cap or snug wig cap. This will allow some of the shampoo to penetrate
the cap and reach the scalp and hair without disturbing the locking pattern too much. There still may be a few casualties, but it wouldn’t
be as terrible as just immersing all your coils into a stream of running water and watching all the work put into the locs disappear.
For locs created by braids or twists, if you have very tightly coiled hair, you may not need to do anything to the locs in order to clean
them. Afterward, you would want to do some type of maintenance to manicure your locs, however. Braids and twists are often used on
looser hair types, or for those who want more holding power than what comb coils can provide. But if you have loose hair and slipping
is still a problem, you can braid and band your locs in order to clean them. Braiding and banding is done by gathering small sections of
braids or twists, then braiding them altogether. To secure the ends, use a rubber band. Then proceed to clean the scalp and hair. The
main focus is on cleaning the scalp, the shampoo with run down the length of the hair and still clean the rest of the hair, but the hair
would not have to be manipulated, which can cause unraveling at times.
For locs created with a tool (Nappyloc tool, Latch Hook, Sisterlocks tool), slipping may be a problem even though the locs are formed
creating a stitch of sorts. To clean this type of locs, braiding and banding would be appropriate.
Frizziness/Fuzz While fuzz may not be a huge problem, it still may exist and for that,
new locs can be tied down with a satin scarf or du rag to tame the coils and deter frizz as much as possible.
Baby Locs and scalp conditions. Often times we want to wear a style but may be apprehensive due to a scalp condition. But you can still
wear locs, it would be a matter of choosing the right method of hair locking. To see what methods of hair locking is available, please read
our Locked Hair Guide. Before you decide to loc, however, consult with a Physician and/or Dermatologist who can help you determine
what type of style and products you will be able to use. Loc Maintenance is important. Maintaining baby locs is key to
encouraging the locking process. While neglect, which is also a true form of locking, can still rend locs, they may not be clean and healthy.
(This is where the term “dreadful” came into play). Baby locs that have been comb coiled or twisted should be maintained at least twice
a month for very short locs and once a month for longer lengths. The shorter the hair, the more likely the locs are to unravel as well. It
isn’t always about the hair texture itself. For braided, twisted and tool installed locs, they need to be
maintained at least once a month. This may be more or less true for someone whose hair doesn’t grow rapidly or grows very quickly. Loc
maintenance also depends on your desired overall look. If you prefer well manicured locs, with visible parts, etc, it is best to have them
maintained at least every 4 weeks. If you don’t mind new growth, you can go longer, but more than 6 weeks can be counterproductive,
causing locs to grow together, and would need to be popped or cut away from one another. This can lead to thin, weak roots.
Baby locs/dreads are definitely not a low maintenance or fuss free stage in locking, but the results are rewarding.
Sports / Diego Maradona Criticized Fifa Yet Again. by And9: 12:10pm On Jul 06, 2014
Former Argentina star Diego Maradona criticized FIFA yet again for its stance on referees following the
quarterfinal match between Brazil and Colombia, which saw the latter team eliminated 2-1.
The foul-ridden game inspired Maradona's rant on his TV show, “De Zurda." The Argentine legend linked
referee Velasco Carballo, who called a very poor game, with an alleged plan from FIFA to help the host
nation advance to the semifinals. According to this conspiracy theory, FIFA wants Brazil to win their sixth
championship at all costs.
[Video: Brazil impressive win over Colombia ]
”I think they made a great choice with the referee, especially in those crucial moments when Colombia had
the better chance in winning the game,” the former World Cup champion said.
Maradona also accused David Luiz of “systematically trying to injure James Rodriguez by fouling him six
times and the ref never once pulled out a card.”
“This is the worst ref I have seen in the last 10 years,” he declared before saying that both Hulk and
Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar should have received red cards during the match.
[Related: Bittersweet World Cup exit for James Rodriguez ]
Continuing with this sentiment, the Argentine believed that Brazil did not deserve its semifinal berth and
criticized FIFA exclusively and their “dictator,” Sepp Blatter for the supposed plan to “let pass” their
“buddies” to the semis.
”The agreement is going to be done on the pitch … as long as everything goes to plan on the pitch, then
everything becomes much clearer for ‘the dictator’ to say ‘see, we let Brazil move on,’” he declared.
Maradona admitted that he might be wrong but then said that FIFA’s admiration towards the referee was
“bull” and the organization should have given respect to the Colombian players and their fans.
[Related: Falcao tweets criticism towards referee ]
”When I saw FIFA congratulating the referee because he had such a great game I asked myself, ‘What the
f---? What game were they watching?’ They probably mistook this game for a baseball game or a bullfight
because they didn’t watch this [Brazil-Colombia] game,” the Argentine said, trying hard to contain himself.
Discussing Rodriguez's yellow card, Maradona was surprised by the referee’s decision.
Clearly an admirer of the young Colombian playmaker, Maradona said that Rodriguez displayed “a great
personality, showed he was strong and despite the fact that Brazil continuously fouled him without
ramifications, he never backed down and kept working hard.”
In spite of everything, Maradona would like to see Brazil beat Germany, which punched its ticket with a
1-0 victory against France, next Tuesday. It might be a tall order. Brazil will meet the Germans without the
services of suspended captain Thiago Silva and injured talisman Neymar.

Maradona was not easy on his own nation’s team either ( a reoccurring theme ). Ahead of the Argentina
and Belgium quarterfinal clash, Maradona called the match “make or break” for Argentina, which needs to
improve technically if they want to advance to the next round.

Sports / Ronaldo: Challenge On Neymar Was International. by And9: 11:48am On Jul 06, 2014
RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Brazil great Ronaldo believes there was intention and violence in the challenge on
Neymar that left the star forward with a fractured vertebra and ruled him out of the World Cup.
Neymar was carried off the field in severe pain late in Brazil's 2-1 quarterfinal win over Colombia on
Friday night after being kneed in the back in a collision with Juan Camilo Zuniga. Medical tests later
confirmed Neymar had fractured a bone at the base of his back and would be on the sidelines for four
weeks, news that sent the World Cup host nation into a somber mood.
Ronaldo, who shares the World Cup scoring record, told a news conference Saturday that "the injury was a
very violent one."
"We could see on television there was an intention by the Colombia player to actually cause some harm,"
Ronaldo said. "I don't think it was a normal football play. I do believe it was aggressive."
The referee took no action on the field against Zuniga, who leaped high behind Neymar and at speed. The
FIFA disciplinary committee planned to review video footage of the challenge.
"I thought it was a highly violent and unlawful move by the Colombia player, but that is not important
anymore," Ronaldo said. "We are fearful and sad for the loss of our player."
Sharing the news conference with Ronaldo, former Italy defender Fabio Cannavaro agreed that Zuniga
appeared to want to hurt Neymar.
"I didn't like that very high knee so that leads me to believe it was a foul with intention to actually cause
harm," said Cannavaro, who was captain of the 2006 World Cup winning team.
In a post-match broadcast interview, Zuniga said he had no intention of injuring Neymar.
"I didn't mean to hurt him, I was trying to defend my shirt, my country, as I've always done," the
Colombian defender said. "Sadly this happened. Hopefully, with God's help, he'll recover."
Ronaldo said Brazil, which is desperate to win a sixth World Cup title on home soil, "loses enormously" in
the absence of its undisputed star. The Brazilians play Germany in the semifinals on Tuesday, and Ronaldo
said the loss of Neymar will give other forwards like Fred and Hulk more motivation.
Ronaldo revealed he had sent Neymar a message on Friday night.
"I told him that the whole country is proud of him," said the 1994 and 2002 World Cup winner, "and that
the support will be that the World Cup remains in Brazil and we will be able to dedicate it to him."

Sports / Mario Balotelli Almost Moved To England Before World – Berlusconi by And9: 5:09pm On Jul 05, 2014
‘I was about to sell him for many millions,’ says Milan president.

The Milan president, Silvio Berlusconi , has revealed he came close to selling Mario
Balotelli to an unnamed Premier League club before the World Cup.
The Italy striker has been strongly linked with a return to England this summer, with
Arsenal reportedly keen to acquire his services for around €35m (£28m).
The former Manchester City striker scored the winner against England but that was his
only goal in three appearances in Brazil, as Italy suffered early elimination from the
tournament.
“Other than Italy, I lost during the World Cup,” Berlusconi was quoted as saying in
Gazzetta dello Sport. “I was about to sell Balotelli to an English team for several
millions. But after this World Cup who will buy him any more?”
His daughter Barbara Berlusconi, Milan’s vice-president, last month hinted at the
possibility of a Balotelli transfer this summer by saying he is “replaceable”.
Balotelli’s agent has also suggested his client will move away from the San Siro. Mino
Raiola claimed the 23-year-old was “sad and desperate” after being widely criticised
in the Italian media following his disappointing World Cup.
Balotelli, who still has four years left on his contract with the Rossoneri , has scored 30
goals in 54 matches for Milan since his move from Manchester City in January 2013.
Milan are keen to sell Balotelli for financial reasons. They will not compete in Europe
next season for the first time in 16 years after finishing a disappointing eighth in
Serie A.

Sports / Messi Awaits His Belgian Nemesis. by And9: 10:53am On Jul 05, 2014
Though it might seem not obvious at first sight, the worlds of football and comic books have quite a few
things in common, namely heroes and villains and the vital ingredients of suspense, excitement and
improbable deeds.
And just like cartoon heroes, the invincibles of world football also have their weak spots. Lionel Messi is a
case in point. The saviour of Argentina at the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™, La Pulga will come face to
face with his very own Achilles heel this Saturday at the Estadio Nacional in Brasilia, where Belgium
keeper Thibaut Courtois will be doing his level best to keep Messi goalless for the eighth time is
as many meetings.
“I know very well how to play against him,” said the towering 22-year-old custodian, who was a big
reason why Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid had a significant edge over Barcelona last season. Courtois
certainly seems to have Messi’s number. The scorer of six goals in their first few meetings, La Pulga has
lost his scoring touch whenever the big Belgian has stood in his path in the last 18 months.
Seven Spanish La Liga, UEFA Champions League and Spanish Super Cup games have gone by since the
Argentinian ace last put one past Courtois on 16 December 2012. The closest Messi came to ending the
hex was in the second leg of last season’s Super Cup, when he struck the bar with his nemesis beaten.
“The good thing about getting to know his game so well is that I don’t even have to watch videos of him
anymore,” the keeper told ESPN, before adding: “There’s not much point in watching them anyway,
because you just can’t predict what Messi is going to do. If he wants to find a gap when he’s firing off a
shot, he’ll find one. The only thing I can do is keep my focus the whole time.”
Despite the hoodoo, there is an air of optimism in the Argentinian camp. Speaking to FIFA , former coach
Carlos Bilardo, who guided La Albiceleste to victory over Belgium in their victorious campaign at Mexico
1986, said: “Messi is the best player in the world right now, I’m convinced about that. He’s going to have
a big part to play, just as he has been doing.”
The scene is set, then, for another showdown between Messi, who has four goals and one assist to this
name at Brazil 2014, and Courtois, whose record reads two goals conceded in Belgium’s four games.
Like any good comic book plot, the latest duel between the two promises to be gripping. All that remains
to be seen is who will emerge the hero and who will be cast as the villain.
Sports / Neymar Out Of World Cup With Fractured Vertebrae. by And9: 10:16am On Jul 05, 2014
Neymar was taken off on a stretcher in the 88th minute of Brazil's 2-1 win over Colombia after getting
kneed in the back by Juan Camilo Zuniga. He was immediately taken to a local hospital in a tremendous
amount of pain and a short time later, Brazil's team doctor confirmed that he will miss the remainder of
the World Cup with a fractured vertebra.
From Reuters :
Rodrigo Lasmar told Brazil's SportTV: "It's not serious in the sense that it doesn't need surgery, but he'll
need to immobilize it to recover. "Unfortunately, he's not going to be able to play," said Lasmar, adding
that he expected the recovery period to take at least a few weeks.
[Photos: Neymar suffers serious injury in win vs. Colombia]
Neymar's absence for the semifinal against Germany will be a devastating loss for Brazil. Along with David
Luiz, he has been the shining star of a team that thus far has been very unconvincing. He leads Brazil with
four goals in five matches.
However, Yahoo global football ambassador Jose Mourinho believes that the absence of captain Thiago
Silva, who will be suspended for Brazil's next match because of yellow card accumulation, will hurt the
team more than the loss of Neymar. But with both players out, the order of importance is irrelevant. This
is a combination of absolute nightmare circumstances that could be too much to overcome for the host
nation, which dreamed of finally avenging the still painful 1950 World Cup loss on home soil.

Sports / Fifa : Warns Nigeria After Football Leader Arrested. by And9: 9:57am On Jul 05, 2014
RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Nigeria could be suspended by FIFA after the country's football federation leaders
were removed from office and its president was arrested on returning from the World Cup.
FIFA warned Nigeria's government on Friday it must reinstate the federation's executive committee by
Tuesday or risk a ban.
"FIFA has also taken note of the detention of NFF President Aminu Maigari carried out by representatives
of the Department of the State Security Service," the governing body said in a statement.
The turmoil follows Nigeria's 2-0 loss against France in the second round on Monday.
Nigeria's government also reacted aggressively after the Super Eagles' 2010 World Cup exit. Then, state
President Goodluck Jonathan threatened to shut down the national team for two years before FIFA
intervened.
FIFA rules protect its 209 member federations from government interference, and a suspension bars teams
and officials from taking part in international matches and meetings.
A High Court session in the Nigerian capital Abuja on Thursday served a restraining order on the country's
football leaders.
The sports ministry also appointed one of its own officials to run the football body
FIFA wrote to the NFF "expressing its great concern over different actions taken by Nigerian public
authorities," it said.
An election meeting reportedly scheduled in Abuja on Saturday would not be recognized, FIFA said.
FIFA said an official football congress was called for Aug. 26 and "only decisions and persons elected then
will be considered legitimate."
Nigeria reached the World Cup knockout rounds for the first time since 1998 after beating Bosnia-
Herzegovina 1-0 and drawing 0-0 with Iran. It also impressed when losing 3-2 against Argentina.
Its next competitive matches are 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifiers in September.

Travel / U.s : Phones, Shoes To Face Scrutiny As Airport Security Tightened. by And9: 8:55am On Jul 05, 2014
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Airlines with direct flights to the United States have been told to tighten
screening of mobile phones and shoes in response to intelligence reports of increased threats from al
Qaeda-affiliated militant groups, U.S. officials said on Thursday.
The officials singled out smartphones including iPhones made by Apple Inc and Galaxy phones made by
Samsung Electronics Co Ltd for extra security checks on U.S.-bound direct flights from Europe, the Middle
East and Africa.
U.S. security officials said they fear bombmakers from the Yemen-based al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula
(AQAP) have figured out how to turn the phones into explosive devices that can avoid detection.
They also are concerned that hard-to-detect bombs could be built into shoes, said the officials, who
declined to be identified because of the sensitivity of the issue.
A U.S. official said that other electronic devices carried by passengers also are likely to receive more
intense scrutiny.
Airlines or airport operators that fail to strengthen security could face bans on flights entering the United
States, the officials said.
The U.S. Homeland Security Department announced on Wednesday plans to step up security checks, but
they offered few details on how airlines and airports will implement them.
An official familiar with the matter said the United States believes that while it is possible there may be
some additional delays at security checkpoints, at most major airports passengers will not be seriously
inconvenienced.
The official said most passengers taking long-distance flights arrive well in advance of scheduled
departures, leaving time for extra screening. But he said the United States could not rule out disruptions in
countries where airport infrastructure and security procedures are less sophisticated.
U.S.-based airlines had little to say about the enhanced security. American Airlines spokesman Matt Miller
said the Department of Homeland Security had been in contact with American on the issue, but declined to
comment further.
Luke Punzenberger, a spokesman for United Airlines Inc[UALCO.UL], said: "We work closely with federal
officials on security matters, but we are not able to discuss the details of those efforts."
U.S. security agencies fear bombmakers from AQAP and the Islamist Nusra Front, al Qaeda's affiliate in
Syria, are collaborating on plots to attack U.S.- or Europe-bound planes with bombs concealed on foreign
fighters carrying Western passports, the officials said.
AQAP has a track record of plotting such attacks. Its innovative bombmaker, Ibrahim al-Asiri, built an
underwear bomb used in a failed 2009 effort to bring down a Detroit-bound airliner, and his devices were
implicated in other plots.
There was no immediate indication U.S. intelligence had detected a specific plot or timeframe for any
attack.
U.S. officials say the United States has acquired evidence that Nusra and AQAP operatives have tested
new bomb designs in Syria, where Nusra is one of the main Islamist groups fighting to overthrow.
