There's a story in the Bible about a guy named Samson, a very strong man with very long hair that had never been cut— and when it finally did get chopped off, he lost all his strength. It's the same thing with fat rappers. A big belly is to a hip-hop star what long, flowing locks were to people in the Old Testament, apparently. Thus, when a good emcee who happens to be fat loses weight, he stops being good. By dropping pounds, they somehow stop dropping hits. Think about it. When was the last time you were excited about a Rick Ross album? He put out two last year. TWO! Neither were very memorable Meanwhile, the guy is disappearing before our very eyes. Shout-out to all the pear, but they're seriously endangering his legacy. The strength of once-obese rappers lies in the weight they shed. Perhaps their size gave them some sort of don't-give- a-Bleep attitude that fades away when they get healthy. There's another side to it, too: Think of all the fat rappers out there still doing their thing and doing it well. Have guys like Bun B or Big Boi or Twista gone downhill? Nope. Neither have their waistlines. Action Bronson is fat and happy; Fat Trel is living up to his name, too. love-vendor C, Big Pun, Big Hawk, Fat Pat, Biggie Smalls ... they all died fat, and they all died at or near the top of their games (RIP). Meanwhile, there are several current rappers who got swole and then got terrible. Let me explain. Mike Jones:

The latest Bond movie is out in November (CNN)—Don't start celebrating the first black James Bond just yet. According to The Guardian, British "Selma" star David Oyelowo says he's been picked to portray Bond and other characters in the audiobook version of the upcoming novel "Trigger Mortis." The book was written by Anthony Horowitz and approved by Bond creator Ian Fleming's estate. Oyelowo says he also got the stamp of approval. "I was asked specifically by the Fleming estate, which is really special," he told The Guardian. Many fans have expressed a desire to see British actor Idris Elba as the first black big-screen Bond. But Oyelowo won't even be the first black Bond on audiobook; Hugh Quarshie starred as the secret agent in 2012 for the audiobook version of "Dr. No." Daniel Craig stars as superspy 007 in the movie franchise and will next be seen in "Spectre," which hits theaters November 6 http://edition.cnn.com/2015/08/13/entertainment/david-oyelowo-james-bond-feat/

Jon Snow alive or dead on Game of Thrones? It’s been over a week since the GoT Season 5 finale, and fans are still convinced that Jon Snow didn’t die despite the stabbing by the Night’s Watch. Emilia Clarke may agree. Clarke explained that she didn’t know about Jon Snow’s death until she read the scripts because producers know she can’t lie well. “I read the scripts and I cried,” she said. “I took Kit out for in numerous drinks and I was like, ‘what the? What the? You’re leaving me? You’re abandoning us?’” But Clarke didn’t give any spoilers away for Season 6 of GoT. “I can, with all honesty, say I have no idea what’s happening,” Clarke said. Clarke thinks that there’s a 50-percent chance that predictions and theories that Jon Snow could return on Season 6 of GoT are correct. “I don’t know! I really don’t know. I mean if I had to bet, I would say it’s a 50/50 chance. There’s some helpful people there who could bring him back to life, but if it means that I’m that much closer to getting the throne then, hey okay,” Clarke said. Kit Harington and the Game of Thrones producers and directors have said in no uncertain terms that Jon Snow is definitely dead. “He’s now deader than dead,” David Nutter said. So if Clarke is right and there is a chance that Jon Snow could return to Game of Thrones, what do theories and predictions say will happen? Well, some theories have said that Jon Snow could warg into Ghost. But at this point, that seems less likely since we didn’t see Ghost in “Mother’s Mercy.” The most popular Season 6 predictions are that Melisandre, who coincidentally returned to Castle Black right before Jon Snow’s death, will resurrect him. Even Carice Van Houten has given hints about Jon Snow’s death. She said that Season 6 will have something “quite spectacular … which I really can’t say anything about.” “You feel that she is concentrating more and more towards Jon Snow,” she said of Melisandre’s return to Castle Black. “There are slight hints that something’s going to happen.” There are also predictions that the Night’s King will bring Jon Snow back and that Jon Snow will join the White Walkers and will eventually fight Daenerys. Finally, there are theories that the Night’s Watch will burn Jon Snow’s body so he won’t become a wight. Since predictions say Jon Snow is Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen’s son, he’s technically a Targaryen. In Season 1, Daenerys used some blood magic, went into a fire and came out reborn. Since Melisandre is right there, there are theories that the same thing will happen to Jon Snow and he will come out of the fire a Targaryen. http://www.hollywoodtake.com/jon-snow-alive-or-dead-season-6-predictions-and-theories-say-kit-haringtons-game-thrones-85952

'Game of Thrones' fans are incredibly angry about Jon Snow's death, Sansa Stark's rape and Cersei Lannister's Walk of Shame. Threatening to stop watching, 'GoT' fans have had incredibly emotional reactions to the Season 5 finale 'Mother's Mercy.' Do you agree? Between Jon Snow's shocking death, Sansa Stark's rape and Cersei Lannister's Walk of Shame GoT Season 5 kept us on the edge of our seats. But frustrated Game of Thrones fans say HBO simply went too far. Some GoT fans also claim that Season 5 was a weaker season. The New York Times even called Game of Thrones “the Lost of its television generation,” because it’s a “wildly popular show that seems to have lost its way, and to be losing faith with a growing number of its viewers.” Wait, what? We do not agree with that. So why are so many Game of Thrones fans angry? Besides for Jon Snow's death and Sansa Stark's rape, Game of Thrones fans contend Season 5 seemed rushed. For example, the Sand Snakes and the entire storyline in Dorne were not developed. Then, of course, there’s the fact that Game of Thrones has totally deviated from the books. Sansa, for example, isn’t the one who ends up with Ramsay. But let's be honest: Any time a movie or TV show deviates from books loyal readers get upset. There are huge advantages to TV and movies because of the great power of cinematography and special effects. But a passionate reader can get frustrated when he pictured a scene one way and it turns out another way. RELATED: Will 'GoT' Questions Be Answered During Season 6? One of the biggest sources of contention right now among Game of Thrones fans is Jon Snow's last scene. Jon Snow may or may not be dead in the books. But Kit Harington has said in no uncertain terms that he's not coming back. Of course, there have been many shocking GoT moments that made fans angry over the years. Fans were outraged by Sansa’s storyline this season. Then there was Cersei and Jaime’s rape scene by Joffrey’s body last season. Many fans have thought that GoT went too far in the past, but the Season 5 finale went overboard. http://www.hollywoodtake.com/game-thrones-fans-angry-jon-snows-death-sansas-rape-and-cerseis-walk-shame-upset-fans-85718

You may have noticed that when your dog hears a strange sound or when you ask him if he'd like to go for a walk, he cocks his head to the side. The adorable move seems to say, "I'm listening," but what's really going on when dogs' heads tilt in response to a sound? Here are a few possible explanations trying to hear better. Dogs have movable earflaps that help them locate the source of a sound, but they also have brains that can compute time differences between the sound reaching each ear. A slight change in a dog's head position supplies additional information that the canine can use to judge a sound's distance. Essentially, tilting the head can help the animal more accurately locate the location and distance of a sound. They're trying to understand us According to Steven R. Lindsay's "Handbook of Applied Dog Behavior and Training," when a dog listens to your voice, he's trying to identify familiar words or tones that he associates with a reward, such as going on a walk or receiving a treat. The muscles of a dog's middle ear are controlled by a part of the brain that's also responsible for facial expressions and head movements, so when a canine tilts his head, he's trying to perceive what you're saying, as well as communicate to you that he's listening. They can't see our faces easily In an effort to understand us, dogs not only use our words and inflection, but also facial expressions, body language and eye movements. Because of this, it's important for them to see our faces, so Dr. Stanley Corren reasons that when dogs cock their heads they're trying to see us better. He says that dogs with longer muzzles have difficulty viewing a person's entire face and compares it to how our vision is obstructed if we hold a fist to our nose and view the world as a dog does. Corren suggests that dogs may tilt their heads to view a speaker's mouth and aid in understanding what is being communicated. He hypothesized that dogs with flatter faces, such as pugs, Boston terriers and Pekingese, might tilt their heads less because they don't have to compensate for prominent muzzles. Corren conducted an Internet survey to test his theory. Out of 582 participants, 186 had dogs with flatter heads. Seventy-one percent of the people with large-muzzle dogs reported that their dogs often tilted their heads when spoken to, while 52 percent with flat-faced dogs reported frequent head cocking. We've taught them to do it When dogs tilt their heads when we speak, it's undeniably cute — just check out the video below — and we have a tendency to respond to the behavior with positive reinforcement. Perhaps we say "aww" in a pleasing tone of voice or offer the dog a treat. Reacting in such a way encourages the activity, and the more a dog is praised for cocking its head, the more likely he is to repeat the gesture in the future. http://www.mnn.com/family/pets/stories/why-do-dogs-tilt-their-heads-when-we-speak

Image: Roen Kelly/Discover It's a question we often ponder, especially as we age: How many years do I have left? Well, thanks to Brazilian physician Claudio Gil Araujo, there's now a simple test you can perform right at home, in just a few seconds, that could predict how many years you have left to live, according to Discover. Araujo came up with the test after noticing that many of his patients, especially older ones, often have difficulty with simple feats of balance and strength, such as picking up something off the floor or getting up out of a chair. Since balance and conditioning problems are known to increase the risk of dangerous falls and accidents (and can also harm cardiovascular health), he wondered if a patient's flexibility, balance and strength could be used as a measure of life expectancy. His idea was that patients might be more motivated to get in better shape if they had a more tangible way of conceptualizing how their overall health was being affected by their conditioning. If a patient is simply told to get in shape, they're not likely to change their behavior. But if they're told "if you don't get into better shape, you could be dead in five years," they're apt to take notice. Of course, the test also needed to be simple. If it required expensive equipment or measuring devices, the test probably wouldn't be accessible to many people. So Araujo and colleagues developed the sitting-rise test, or SRT. It requires no equipment whatsoever and can be performed in seconds. In fact, you can grab a friend try the test out yourself right now. It's recommended that you wear loose or comfortable clothing. Begin by standing upright in the middle of a room. Without using your arms or hands for leverage, carefully squat into a cross-legged sitting position. Once you're comfortable, attempt to stand back up from the sitting position — again, without using your arms for help. A simple illustration (above), provided by Discover, can help you to visualize the steps. The test is scored on a point scale between 1 and 10 (5 points for sitting, 5 more points for standing back up). Each time you use an arm or knee for help in balancing during the test, you subtract one point from 10 possible points. Half a point is subtracted each time you lose balance, or when the fluidity of the feat becomes clumsy. It seems like a pretty rudimentary test of conditioning, but Araujo found that it could predict life expectancy with alarming accuracy. He tested it on more than 2,000 of his patients aged 51 to 80, and found that people who scored less than 8 points on the test were twice as likely to die within the next six years. Those who scored three points or less were five times more likely to die within that same time period. Overall, each point achieved in the test accounted for a 21-percent decrease in mortality. Araujo's study was only performed on patients older than 50, so the results won't mean the same thing for younger individuals taking the test. But regardless of your age, the test should provide a useful benchmark for your overall health. If you're younger than 50 and have trouble with the test, it ought to be a wake-up call. The good news is that the younger you are, the more time you have to get into better shape. http://www.mnn.com/health/fitness-well-being/stories/this-simple-sitting-test-could-predict-how-long-you-will-live

Photo: Courtesy of Nickolay Lamm The future is always unknown, especially the distant future, but that shouldn’t stop us from making educated guesses. That’s exactly what artist and researcher Nickolay Lamm did with help from Dr. Alan Kwan, who has a doctorate in computational genomics from Washington University. Their starting point was the question: “What do you think the human face might look like in 100,000 years and why?” From there, they reasoned out how humanity with advanced genetic engineering technology might reshape itself over time, taking over the role played by natural selection so far. Lamm then created a series of images of what he thinks the human face might look like 20,000 years, 60,000 years and 100,000 years in the future (Note: He said that we shouldn’t read too much into the fact that the man and woman are Caucasian because those were just the best models he could find). The first image is an unmodified photo of a man and woman from the present. Nothing special. The second image shows some changes, but they are not too major yet. Heads are a bit bigger to accommodate larger brains, and those yellow rings that you see in the models’ eyes are special lenses that act kind of like Google Glass does today, but in a much more powerful way. In the 60,000 years image, we’re starting to see some major changes. Heads are even larger, but the eyes have grown too. Lamm speculates that this would be a result of human colonization of the solar system, with people living farther away from the sun where there is less light. Skin pigmentation would change and our eyelids would become thicker to offer more protection against UV rays for those living outside of the Earth’s protective ozone layer. 100,000 years! Here Lamm predicts big changes, the most notable of which is the big Japanese Manga- style eyes that may feature “eye- shine enhance low-light vision and even a sideways blink from re constituted plica semilunaris” to offer extra protection against cosmic rays. These futuristic faces follow the golden ratio proportions and are perfectly symmetrical from left to right, and have larger nostrils to make breathing in off-planet environments easier, as well as denser hair to contain heat loss from their even larger heads. Various implants might allow the man and woman of the future to always be connected, but these would be subtle and almost invisible. Now remember, Nickolay Lamm and Dr. Kwan stress that this is not a prediction, but rather speculation (“one possible timeline”), and that it is impossible to know for sure what the future holds. This is just their answer to the question “What do you think the human face might look like in 100,000 years and why?” There are, without a doubt, many other answers, some of which might seem more plausible. But it’s interesting food for thought. Personally, if I had to criticize this project, I would say that the timeline is probably too long. We’re already starting to have the ability to modify ourselves, so if we ever decide to do so (it’s probably a question of “when” rather than “if”), it probably won’t take thousands of years. Just in the past 100 years, we've gone from barely having mastered powered flight with the Wright Brothers to landing space probes on almost all planets and moons of the solar system, from Morse code telegraphs to a worldwide communication network made up of billions of electronic devices, each of which is more powerful than the supercomputers of a few decades ago. So technological and scientific progress is really fast and it’s accelerating. The human race’s capabilities in 50 years should be even more impressive to us today than today’s tech would be for someone from 50 years ago — and that’s saying something. My own speculation on how humans might modify themselves over time would probably go into a different direction than Lamm’s — and wouldn’t result in very striking images because I think most changes wouldn’t be visible. For example, if we successfully cure the diseases of aging (the SENS Research Foundation is working on this, for example), we would look the same, except that people would keep their young adult bodies, and you might not be able to superficially tell the difference between someone who is 30 and someone who is 60 years old. Maybe we’ll upgrade the human eye to give ourselves piercing hawk-like vision and awesome low-light capabilities, but that eye 2.0 might not look different from the outside. Same if we improve our red blood cells so they can carry 10 times more oxygen, our livers to better eliminate toxins or our metabolisms to maintain a healthy weight whatever we do. All these changes would be huge for humanity, yet they might not be visible in a photograph. But all that is just speculation, one of many possible futures. The bottom line is we can all have an impact on how the future turns out, so let’s make it a good one. Sky sources : understand John Obi Mikel wants to leave Chelsea after failing to hold down a regular starting place last season. It is understood the Nigeria international, who started 18 league games in the Londoners' championship- winning campaign, has been told he remains part of manager Jose Mourinho's future plans. Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates are reportedly interested in signing Mikel, but there has been no comment from Chelsea who refuse to be drawn on speculation over any of their players. The 28-year-old, who has been capped 64 times by his country, has made 224 appearances since moving to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2006. Mikel's first-team action has been limited recently due to the form of Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas who played leading roles in Chelsea securing their first Premier League title in five years last season. And the emergence of youngster Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who is highly-rated by Mourinho, has also seen Mikel drop down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge. http://www.mychelseafc.com/prev_news/14_news/jun15_news/jun23-2.htm

Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, has warned that anyone who demands $50,000 to enable him see her or her husband should be disregarded. Speaking at an appreciation dinner she hosted for women and youths at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa on Saturday, she said whoever demands money to facilitates his or her seeing her or her husband was neither working for the President nor the All Progressives Congress, APC. She said: “I will like to inform you that in the past regime, whether it is true or false, only God knows. Some people were going round, parading themselves as personal assistants. If you wanted to see the First Lady, you will pay $30,000 or $50,000; and if you are seeing the President, you will pay all that you have gathered in your lifetime. “This will not happen in our regime. Whoever asks you to give a single penny in the name of coming to see the President or his wife is not our staff. He is not an APC member; it is a lie. Don’t be deceived.” She stated that there was nothing people did not say about the past administration, stressing that it was not former President Goodluck Jonathan that was not good but the people around him. The President’s wife said the people that are going to be around her husband have to be very careful because the election ended peacefully. “We are praying and hoping that people around him should know that it took him 12 years to get to that position and they must know that they are coming to serve the masses, not President Muhammadu Buhari in person. “It is the people that are around him that will determine the political health of our state. “I am so delighted to stand before you today as the wife of a former Head of State and today being called the wife of the President. It was such a long journey and we thank God it ended this way; we really thank God. “I want to thank all Nigerian women and youths for the crucial roles they played towards the success of the last elections. I am very much aware of your steadfastness during the election campaigns up till the elections proper,” she said. She explained that in line with the philosophy of her husband, the administration would be open to all Nigerians. While noting the challenges faced by the country in the areas of security, unemployment and corruption, she said the responsibility to solve the problems should not be left for the government alone. Mrs. Buhari also used the occasion to explain that her husband never put her in purdah. She urged Nigerians to come up with practical solutions, collectively and individually, that would facilitate answers to the ills of the society, especially women issues. “Even, by the recent campaigns, it was Bola Ahmed Tinubu who insisted that I should come out and support my husband. Not that I never liked supporting my husband but it all depended on the people around him. And now, it is the people around him that said they wanted me to participate; we did and we have seen the difference. “My husband is a gender- sensitive being, having so many girls as his own biological children and then having me as his wife. Then, you can see the generation gap. He allowed me to go to school. To cut the story short, he is the pillar of my success. “The women of Nigeria are not asking for equal representation but a fair representation. “As you are all aware, they were the major voters; we constitute more than 50 per cent and in the end, we found out that the number of female legislators that we used to have declined. I do not think this is fair to women. We feel we are not adequately represented. “We should now make it as a mission in the next four years, to fight for fair representation of women in both leadership and decision-making bodies,” she said. She also spoke on the high rate of divorce in the North, widowhood in the South and female students’ harassment in higher institutions, demanding that something be done to solve the problems. http://igberetv.com/dont-pay-50000-to-see-me-or-my-husband-first-lady-warns/

Wild animals including lions, tigers, bears, jaguars, wolves and other animals escaped from their zoo this morning after serious flood and are currently roaming the streets of Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia (a country at the intersection of Europe and Asia). According to officials in the city capital, the flooding has killed at least 8 people and several animals in the zoo died. The ones that didn't die in the flood, which happened after a river burst its banks in central Tbilisi after hours of torrential rain, are now roaming the streets. Dozens of families are now without shelter after their homes were flooded and cars swept away. Thousands of people are currently left without water and electricity. Some of the animals that escaped from their enclosure have been captured by security forces while the more dangerous one have been shot dead. See some photos after the cut... http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-33125879
