PoliticsFulani Herdsmen At It Again Attack Enugu by aneldaking(op): 6:44pm On Feb 17, 2017
Fulani herdsmen at it again do not forget Northern Governors claims they are from Mali, Senegal, Chad and not herds men from northern Nigeria.

Tears and confusion has overtaken Abbi Community in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area, Enugu State, following the attack on the area by Fulani herdsmen who unleashed mayhem on the people, killing a brother and sister of the same family and also razing down about seven houses and several motorcycles.

Altogether, 19 persons have not been found or seen therefore were declared missing in the community even as several others were also wounded with machetes by the invaders.

We gathered from a reliable source (inhabitant) that the Fulani herdsmen numbering over 30 emerged from the nearby bush and began to machete the people in the community last Thursday, killing their victims and maiming others with different kind of weapons before fleeing into the bush without a scratch.

Two of the unfortunate victims who they identified as Fidelis Okeja age 45, and his elder sister Mercy age 50. The victims Fidelis and Mercy were relaxing outside their compound around 6.30pm discussing when all of a sudden, hefty men numbering about 30 of them masked believed to be Fulani herdsmen emerged from nowhere and then instantly butchered them.

After that they went ahead and attacked other members of the community with machetes, burnt down houses before retreating into the bush unharmed. Investigations revealed that sporadic shooting by the suspected Fulani herdsmen sent fear into the inhabitants of other parts of the community who scampered for safety amid confusion.

An eye witness in the community said the people were taken unawares by Fulani herdsmen, adding that the police and members of the local vigilante group were yet to respond to cries of the people before the invaders escaped into the bush.

‘’The most worrisome aspect of the Fulani invasion of the community was that about 19 people are still missing as nobody can give account of them. Those missing were last seen on the fateful day. The community formed search parties in groups, combing bushes within and outside the community for days now, yet no sign of success has been recorded,’’ he revealed.

‘’We have lodged formal complaint at both Ada’ani police station and Police Area Command Nsukka, but no arrests have been made over the matter. The Fulani herdsmen were armed to the teeth with dangerous weapons when they invaded us.

“Two people killed while 19 missing, several others brutalised with deep machete cuts now lying critically down at various hospitals. “The corpses of the deceased Fidelis and Mercy have been deposited at Bishop Sanahan Hospital, Nsukka while the search for the missing 19 people continues,” he said.

Why a senior officer at the Police Area Command, Nsukka who spoke on the condition of anonymity confirmed the story describing the attack on Abbi community as pathetic and sorrowful as two biological relations were killed and several others wounded,” among others He, however, said that full investigations has commenced to untangle the circumstances surrounding the barbaric attack on the community. The Officer, however, said that the police were yet to receive the report of missing persons in the community on the account of the incident, but appealed to the community not to take laws into their hands by engaging in reprisal attack. Meanwhile, a team of anti-riot policemen has been drafted to the community to beef up security in the area and beyond

Nairaland GeneralC Y Mmm Cant Merge Or Pay You Now by aneldaking(op): 12:25am On Jan 15, 2017
See Why MMM Cant Pay You Now

Yes it is true that MMM is back. Mavrodi Mondial Moneybox (MMM), a Ponzi scheme, yesterday been Friday 13th January opened for business after one month of festive holiday, but investors in the scheme have remained stranded as they still cannot access their funds.

Here are few reasons why MMM cannot Merge you

MMM Nigeria: as you all know other countries MMM scheme are still ongoing therefore, have it at the back of your mind that MMM Nigeria just opened on Friday and as such can’t start merging immediately because it fell on a weekend and not every participant have access to internet banking.

Banks don’t open on weekends for those who want to provide help.

They opened on Friday in other to get enough participants, who wants to provide help (notice that if you provide help now you will no longer have to wait for 14days before been merged).

TravelInternational Travel Tips by aneldaking(op): 12:09am On Jan 15, 2017
International Travel Tips

Luggage & packing

Package an extra set of clothes in your carry-on bag. Except you want to be angry throughout your flight trip just imagine being decked out in J’adore Paris apparel because the airline lost your luggage and you have nothing else to wear.

Airline checking my bag or not to check. All airlines have their own policy guiding them. as to how many bags can be checked or carried on for free. So I advice you consult your travel agent before carry your hand bag to avoid embarrassment of additional fees.

Come with snacks. Traveling abroad is fun, but eating in a foreign country can sometimes become a task especially when you dint use a traveling agent, because a travel agent can make a special order for you. Come with some snacks that will help keep you on until you find that perfect restaurant.

Local Research

It has been proven over time that when you buy tickets now for places you know you want to visit or see. Buying in advance will help you to skip more lines, and find additional deals targeted toward you.

Get guidebooks. Guidebooks usually include maps, key words or phrases, and give you enough detail on certain sites that you won’t need to purchase the pamphlet at the venue.

Security and Health

Visit you Doctor along with your insurance carrier. Always be cautious of making sure that you have all the necessary vaccinations and make sure you renew all the important prescriptions. Also, confirm from your Health Insurance provider if your policies conforms to overseas standard for emergencies. If it doesn’t, and you want to include extra coverage, consider supplemental insurance.

Nairaland GeneralNnamdi Kanu The Freedom Fighter by aneldaking(op): 11:17am On Jan 13, 2017
From the time of his arraignment and that of other accused persons, Nnamdi Kanu the freedom fighter have always appeared in the court wearing a variety of indigenous dresses, from ankara material to normal city father's attire

The recent one is the one worn on Thursday the 12th day of January 2017, new and more striking attire bejewelled by Nnamdi Kanu, others, wore the significant Igbo-Jewish dressing of white with Kipa and cloak for prayers, he also had the tallit, a prayer shawl worn by the Jews while reciting morning prayers while his co-accusers adorned a green Jewish skull cap each.

This is evidently of the strongest sacred expression handed out yesterday by Nnamdi Kanu and other accused along side with him.

Names of those accused along side Nnamdi Kanu are - Benjamin Nwabugwu, David Nwawuisi and Chidiebere Onwudiwe

IPOB is revisiting the religion they considered their root, which they accept as true why God allowed Biafrans to be under enemy control for turning their back on their God .

BusinessNaira Hits All Time Low To Dollar by aneldaking(op): 11:12am On Jan 13, 2017
As at on Thursday 12 January 2017 Information reaching us indicates that all is not well with the Nigerian currency as it has continue to depreciate more often at the parallel market popularly known as the black market, this is due forex insufficiency to The Naira, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

News Agency of Nigeria gossip that at the dawn of 2016, speculators forecasted that the Naira would trade at N500 to a dollar.

The Nigerian exchange lost N3 to trade at N495 to the dollar at the parallel market, from N492 posted on Wednesday, while the Pound Sterling and the Euro closed at N597 and N515 correspondingly.

But so far all seam steady at the official interbank window, the Naira closed at N305 to a dollar.

Trading at Bureau De Change window saw the Naira close at N399 to a dollar, while the Pound Sterling and the Euro exchanged at N600 and N510, correspondingly.

So far Traders believe that it is due to the acute forex scarcity that led to the spike in the exchange rate.

TravelNorthern Agenda And Why Abuja Airport Should Be Shut Down by aneldaking(op): 9:43am On Jan 06, 2017
Reasons why we are shutting down Abuja Airport: The reason we chose to close down Abuja airport for 2months to use Kaduna Airport as alternative

Federal Government of Nigeria On January 6, 2017 as at 12:50 The Federal Government of Nigeria just yesterday January 6/2017 came up with their own style of excuse why they are not using the three closest airport close to Abuja saying that the three airports very close as a matter of fact it’s just a stone throw from Abuja Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja, do not meet the criteria and standard set for alternative airports to Abuja. This however, didn’t ground well to the understanding of the stakeholders in aviation industry, who expressed fowl play on the alternative airport and the total closure of the Abuja Airport from March 8 to April 19, 2017 saying it’s on heard of.

Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika, during a stakeholders forum in Abuja, yesterday January 6/2017, said three other airports close to Abuja the Federal Capital of Nigeria which are Minna Airport in Niger State, Jos Airport and Ilorin Airport in Kwara state did not pass the criteria set by the Federal Government as alternative airports. The minister, while explaining the criteria used in making Kaduna Airport the choice airport just to convince the stakeholders, said:

“Niger and Kwara states are probably thinking they are better alternatives, they are very good alternatives for sure but unfortunately, there are quite a number of criteria we looked at which the other airports did not meet before we chose Kaduna. Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. “The three are good airports close to Abuja but they simply did not meet with the criteria we used. Minna, Ilorin and even Jos airport as well.”

The Minister while stating what necessitated the rehabilitation of Abuja airport runway, He recalled that the Abuja airport runway was constructed in 1982, adding that it has been over used and that the designed life span has been worn out by 14 years, leading to distressed and failed portions of the runaway. Giving stories of past experiences of airlines on the Abuja runway, saying:

“On December 4, 2013, a Saudi Arabian cargo plane damaged its landing gear in a major incident at the Abuja airport runway, which led to the closure of the airport for several hours, from the night of December 4 to the evening of the following day. “In August 2016, there was also another major incident involving South Africa Airways flight that got damaged when it landed on the same Abuja airport runway. “Just last year, Emirates aircraft was also damaged when it landed on the same runway and it was one of the reasons the airline gave for stopping operations to Abuja airport, while other international airlines were considering pulling out of Abuja airport like the Kenya Airways because of the dangerous runway and multiple incidences of landing gear damages that had been reported by operators of private jets caused by the poor condition of the Abuja runway. “This administration with safety and security as its priority, has decided to face the problem head on. The cooperation of all stakeholders is, therefore, required to enable us go through this transition period with minimal discomfort.”

On the path of Stakeholders the closure of the international airport to that of Kaduna is not ideal, the stake holders Expressing their grievances about the decision of the Federal Government, stakeholders like the (AON )Aviation Operators of Nigeria, (NANTA )Nigerian Association of Travel Agencies, International Airline Operators, IAO; embassies in Abuja, among others did not see any concrete reason behind the choice of Kaduna to other close airport to the Federal capital and the total closure of the Abuja airport Chairman of AON, Capt. Nogie Meggison, said operators were in total support of the rehabilitation of the Abuja airport runway but do not understand why an international airport will be closed down completely because of a runway that could be divided into two sections while one section will be on repairs. Meggison said

''the 3900 meter runway could be divided into sections while a section is undergoing repairs, the other is left open till the repairs of the closed section is completed''.

He is of the opinion that the runway should be divided that even with the division of the runway that half part of the runway can accommodate a Boeing 737 adding that all international flight can could go to Lagos or Kano for the period of repairs. wondering if Kaduna airport has the capacity to accommodate the traffic of passengers and if Kaduna has what it takes to house aircrafts. However Executive Secretary, Kaduna Investment Promotion Agency, Mallam Gambo Hamza Responding to Nogie Meggison said Kaduna was ready to take the huge traffic while the state had made provision for security with 20 policemen on standby at every kilometre.

TravelKnow How To Travel With A Wheelchair By Air by aneldaking(op):
This article is particularly written for those who need more information on traveling with a wheelchair, if you are disabled or having one challenge or the other then this article is for you. Before I go on please i will want to advice my readers, planing to go on vacation on best way to get ready.

Best Advice For A Smooth Journey

If you have arranged to meet assistance staff at a particular time, please try and be punctual to avoid any delays during the airport process. If you no longer need assistance, just them know.
Please I urge all travelers to arrive at the airport at least two hours before the scheduled departure time of your flight.

Allow sufficient time for each stage that means in the case transiting always take 3 to 4 hours transit break time.

Exercise Enough Patience:This Life is too short for you to be frustrated or for you to get angry about. if in case you have missed your buss conveying to the airport, just calm down there are other ways to get to the airport. Looks like you have not changed your currency to that of your country destination? Cool down there are enough business men who are waiting for you right in the airport to buy whatever currency you want to sell from you , have you gotten your yellow card don’t worry there are options for you in the airport. I always advice my readers and friends to always exercise patient I always remind them that they are still better than the rest.

Try to Wake Up Early:Always wake up early to get prepared for your trip over the years I have observed that waking up early always helps in setting up your target country especially when you know the distance from your residence to the airport. Waking up early will always help you get ready to travel stress free. Travellers who get ready before time always don’t have problem in their movements.

Traveling with wheelchairs is allowed as far as the boarding point to the aircraft, that’s where you will be transferred to a special aisle chair. But If you are able to walk a short distance you can as well request for a seat around entrance doors. Your wheelchair will then be stored conveniently for immediate availability on arrival. The airline will always want to pre-board you though its optional by you, all you need is to be at the airport early.

Wheelchair as we all know falls in different categories which I will be listing below though not all the classes of wheelchairs are available on all airlines.

Three Classes of wheelchair:

Normal hand-propelled chairs

Electric wheelchair

Electric wheelchairs

Those with Type 2 wheelchairs should check with the airline, as a leaking battery in flight can be dangerous. It will be necessary for baggage handlers to remove the battery and place it in a special container. This requires the passenger to be at the airport at early before departure.

Most modern confiscated power-operated wheelchairs have some form of safety battery so that they can be lifted without risk of damage to the aircraft. However, it will be necessary for baggage handlers to disconnect the leads from the terminal and to cap them to avoid shorting. This may take some time, so you will have to pre-board. It may be necessary to transfer you to a special aisle wheelchair in the air terminal, and there may equally be a delay on arrival before your chair is available.

The airlines are responsible for ensuring that your battery is reconnected and that your chair is working on arrival at your destination. Electric scooters can also be transported without problems; their battery requirements are the same as for wheelchairs.

As a precaution against loss or damage, always remove all detachable parts before your wheelchair is stored, and label the chair with your name and address and destination airport.

So long as your condition is stable, you are entitled to the protection of the Air Carriers Access Act of 1986, and the airline cannot make limiting regulations.

In the event of a problem with airport personnel, you should require them to contact the Complaints Resolution Officer, who must always be available and willing to deal with your issues. They cannot refuse. However, to avoid problems, make sure that you let the airline know your needs as early as possible. Also, make sure you have adequate insurance to cover damage to or loss of your wheelchair or scooter as well as personal injury.

HOW TO TRAVEL BY AIR WITH A WHEELCHAIR

Normally you can use your own wheelchair as far as the boarding point of the aircraft, where you will transfer to a special aisle chair. If you are able to walk a short distance, you should request a seat near the entrance doors. Your wheelchair will then be stored conveniently for immediate availability on arrival. The airline will probably want to preboard you, so be early at the airport. You, however, have the choice not to preboard.

Wheelchairs fall into three classes:

Normal hand-propelled chairs;
Electric wheelchairs, including scooters, with wet acid batteries;
Electric wheelchairs, including scooters, with dry cell or sealed gel batteries.
Those who have Type 2 wheelchairs should check with the airline, as a leaking battery inflight can be dangerous. It will be necessary for baggage handlers to remove the battery and place it in a special container. This requires the passenger to be at the airport at least 3 hours before departure.

TravelAirport Transit Tips by aneldaking(op):
What Is A Direct Flight?

A direct flight is known or can be identified by a single flight number. A direct flight can be a flight without a stopover (stopover means flight linking point A to B without landing in between).
A direct flight with a stopover this means linking point A to B with one or more stopover, usually for the purpose of refueling aircraft, well this all depends on the situation on ground. Though you may asked to remain on-board the aircraft while passengers disembark and new passengers board, you may also be asked to move over to transiting point.

Direct flight mostly are short distanced, say Abuja(Nigeria) to Dubai (United Arab Emirates) with an Emirates Airline as soon as it takes off from Abuja it will not land else were until it reaches its Hub which is at Dubai except because of the scarcity of aviation fuel in Nigeria it might decide to stopover at Accra (Ghana) to take some Fuel but even with that one will not say that's not a direct flight from Abuja.

What is A Connecting Flight?

A connecting flight is also a non direct flight this is when it involves changing aircraft i.e. you are flying to Houston airport with Ethiopia Airline (ET) connecting with United Airline (UA) once you get to the transit airport, you will be invited to go to the transit area to continue your trip on a new aircraft which is UA.

You can also define connecting flight with this example A passenger flying with Egypt air from Kano international airport to Kuala lumpur (MMalaysia) Egypt air will fly that passenger to its Hub which is Cairo Egypt Capital from there the passenger will take the next flight which is now the connecting flight from Cairo straight to Kuala Lumpur with Saudi Arabia air.
Helpful Tips on Booking A connecting flight with Luggage Check in

TravelTraveling With Infant Or A Child by aneldaking(op): 12:38pm On Dec 27, 2016
Customers traveling with infant should have this information to guide them: so far your infant is under 2years and over 7 days old and on board with someone who is at max 15 years old, then be informed that you are not expected to buy a seat for them and can lap them for free.

A child is considered a lap child From 7 days to 23 months, and need not to be paid a seat though, customers may decide to buy a seat for the infant due to their own personal reasons.

The moment a child hits his/her second birthday that child is no longer considered infant/lap child, therefore seat have to be bought before he/she will be allowed to travel, in the case were you have airlines doubting the age of a baby’s birth certificate will be tendered as a proof.

Guidelines for those with infants

Most aircraft, lap children are not allowed to seat in the first or second row.

For infant having health issues, requiring for incubator or life support system, will not be accepted for travel and will be denied boarding out rightly.

Only one lap child is allowed for each customer.

Traveling With Children

What other transportation company refers to as children is different from what airlines generally considers to be children for airlines, it’s generally consider a “child” to be from 2years to 11years. Airlines consider s anyone who range within this bracket a child and must therefore purchase their own ticket and occupy their own seat because they are not to be lapped.
For some domestic flights children fair are usually same as adult fair, depending on the destination and airline.
Boarding internationally child air fares are giving 25% discount to pay 75% of the full fare.
Do my kids need any form of identity to travel?
For those traveling domestically you will not be asked to tender any form of identity as far as they are accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Traveling International flight from Nigeria, you will need a child passport together with the parent or guidance details and he/her paper work must be complete, please not that when flying with a child always go along with he/her birth certificate as proof to avoid disappointment.
Children baggage allowance.

Children from 2years to 11years purchase their own ticket because they are given their own seat; children from the above age are not to be lapped on, therefore are subjected to the same services rendered to adult. General baggage allowance for both child and adult are 7kg for carry–on and 2pcs of 23kg each for checked baggage.
What entertainment options are there for kids?

TV shows.

Music.

Coloring pencils.

Travel games.

Take home Toys after landing.

Food options for children on-board
For Domestic airline

Snack.
Juice soft drink.
Cookies.
Chips.
Savory biscuits.
Fresh sandwiches.

International airline

For international airline you can request for child's meal when making booking to indicate whatever treat you want.
It’s of great impotence that all travelers brings a bottle of water to keep hydrated while flying even though it is usually offered on-board.
