Nairaland GeneralPriorities And Goals: How To Set And Meet Them. by AngelahFlo(op): 12:35pm On Oct 16, 2025
Hello Guys
Today I wanna educate us on how to set and meet our goals without stress even when you're not conscious of the goals you've set.

We've all been guilty of goals and tasks we set out to complete each day and the fact that at the end of the day; we hardly meet half of them completely if at all we even meet the goals and tasks we set out to do each day. I used to be a victim who set goals and never meet them. I tried every method possible even the S M A R T formulae for setting goals and meeting them to no avail. It wasn't that the formulae was faulty, I was the one who didn't know how to go about the formula itself. I had a hard time knowing how to place my goals in a time related format and even specify them as a result I came to hate and dread the word "goals."

Just recently I stumbled on a formula that works better than the S M A R T Goals formula. It was a simple 4 sectioned square with some words on it. Before I explain the formula to you guys, I first of all have to define two words to you. These words are "Important" and "Urgent". The words are synonymous with each other that if you're not careful you'd think they mean the same thing. What's important is a task or something that you can set a date or future time frame to accomplish while what's Urgent is something or task that demands your immediate attention. With that in mind let's go into the nitty gritty of this formula by following the steps below.

1. Draw a big Square and divide it into four equal sections.

2. On top of the big square write the words "Important" on one half of the square and on the other half write "Urgent."
This will form the heading title of this four sectioned square box of yours.

3. Under the important part of your box write the words "Important/Urgent and under this words write "Do it Now".

For better clarity I've made the attempt at drawing and snapping the diagram so you'll know what I'm trying to describe. You'll find the diagram attached to this post. Don't belittle this simple diagram. It's as powerful as it is simple. I stumbled on it in a law firm I worked on the island. The head man of the firm drew that diagram and had his team follow and memorize this diagram to aid them into determining which task and goal is important and which is urgent. And to further determine which to schedule and discard or put away for a future date.
With this diagram, you can set and determine which task at present needs your urgent attention and to also align your goals and task in order of their importance. Lemme not bore you with too much words. What you need do for now is memorize the diagram and use it to complete your task and you'll be amazed at how easy it'll be for you to complete your tasks and goals without stress.

This post needs to be moved to front page to educate more people going through the same challenges.

Christianity EtcWhy Worry!! by AngelahFlo(op): 6:00pm On Oct 12, 2025
Hello Guys
Happy Sunday to y'all. Wanna share something very important and educative and also inspirational to y'all this Sunday evening.
The world we live in today is full of so many situations and scenarios that spike our worry meter. The Bible say something about not giving in to the temptation of Worry. Matthew 6:24-34 outline five basic areas people express anxiety or worry in today's world. There is the Worry over the 5 Fs which are:
Finances
Food
Fitness
Fashion
Future

The Bible outlines in these verses that we are not to worry about what to wear, eat or cloth ourselves with as worrying about adding one cubit to our lives which is impossible to achieve by worrying.
The truth is Worrying never adds anything of value to our lives instead it takes away from us and leave us empty and stranded at a spot.

Before I concude with my short post. Lemme hit with thus startling statistic:
40% of things you worry about hasn't happened yet
30%:- refers to things that has already happened
12% are things that you were criticized about
10% of things you worry about that concerns your health issues.
8% refers to real and present problems that you're currently facing
.

The truth is by spending time worrying about the above statistic you can't effect any changes aside from more worries. For instance you can't change what has already happened so why worry.
You can prevent what hasn't happened yet instead of beating yourself over what hasn't happened yet. For the 3rd one, you can shut out your critics and refuse to be swayed by their words or assessment. You can make plans concerning your health issues rather than worrying yourself to graver health concerns. For your current problems, you need a sound mind to help you see clearly so you can reason out a solution rather than worrying yourself to death.

Thankfully there's a cure to break the vicious cycle of Worry and these are:

The Father Factor
Recognize that God is your father who cares about you so much that He even knows the number of hair strands on your head.

The Future Factor
Recognize that you need to be mindful of the Things of God and His Kingdom as outlined in Matthew 6:33. You need to seek first God's Kingdom and His righteousness. You do this by making the will of God for your life your first priority and every other thing will be added to you.

Finally there's the Future Factor.
Where you need to focus only on the issues you can handle today and leave tomorrow to take care of itself.

That's it guys. Follow the above steps and be free from the scourge of unending worry.
See you on my next topic.

FashionThrowback Thursday: Retro Footwear And Skirts by AngelahFlo(op): 1:11pm On Oct 09, 2025
Hello Fashionistas
For our Throwback today I'll be taking you to a time some vintage footwear and skirt were the vogue. Some of them are still trending though with a Gen Z torch to not now. What I'm bringing to this post is the vintage brand. The one the Gen X grew up to wear and the Millenials also wore.
First on my list is:
Kito Sandals
The Kito Sandals was a favorite trending footwear of the 90s. It was so popular that 8 out of 10 people you meet was spotted wearing on variation or the other. I'm not a trendy person but because of its popularity and the fact that I loved the way it made the feet and walking steps of some ladies kinda sexy, I decided to also own one. Now I don't know if it's still trending now but it was a vintage brand that alot of us can't forget.

The second on my list is another popular brand from the 80s and 70s. This one the Gen X among us will remember well. I think they brought it back in the time of the Millenials so some Millenials will also know this iconic footwear
Scholl Sandals
This footwear was the most popular footwear of the 70s 80s and 90s(when it had a comeback) the soles were either wooden or hard but comfortable foamy soles. My late mum, my Aunty and my late Grandma rocked this footwear with reckless abandon. It was comfortable on the feet and very durable that even if you wade in water with one, it won't be damaged by the water. All you need do is dry it and it's good to go. So popular was this footwear that it made a comeback in the 90s with not so quality torch as the retro one.

Nautical Sandals
Some of us from the 90s will remember this iconic footwear that was so trendy that even the local street urchins and bus conductors of that era was spotted wearing one. I didn't like it that much because it was worn by every Tom Dick and Harry of that time.

My last and final item isn't a footwear but one particular clothing style I came to fell in love with when I see it on ladies. It's the Maxi denim skirt.
There's a little history of mine surrounding my love for this skirt.
It was 2005. I was an instructor in a computer school owned by my Pastor when I had this student of mine who came to class one morning rocking this skirt with a chequered dress of aquamarine hue. The previous day, we were discussing fashion trends and the maxi skirt popped up in our gist. She told me she had one and that it always look good on her so I I told her to wear it to class the next day. Before now I hated the skirt compared to its mini and midi version. The ladies who wear them were either too skinny or it was done to suit their frame but when she sashayed into my class with one the next day, I was so carried away that I didn't know when I was gawking with my mouth agape. As I write this post I can still see her in my mind like she's standing before me. She was a lady with an hourglass figure so whoever made that denim for her did a good job of bringing out her figure while keeping the maxi flying without being too huggy. She now wore a flat sole leather slippers and I was blown away!!! For the rest of that day, it was a challenge taking her class because I couldn't stop staring, complimenting and commenting on her fashion sense. Since that day till now, the denim maxi skirt is something I love to see on ladies.

So guys there it is. Will love to read your fashion anecdotes concerning the above brand.

King James Bible
Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

What religion was James telling us to practice up there in James 1:26?
These are outward acts of love which the Lord commands us to do and to keep. They are included in Christianity but it goes beyond that. You see even the heathen practice these things too and give it a name which is philanthropy and outward humility. Keeping oneself pure and being kind to widows and orphans are external acts. True Christianity observes both the external and the internal.
James 1:27 not 26 was referring to an outward expression of religion which Christianity is more than.

I feel so very sorry for you. All the things Jesus taught at the sermon on the mount are life teachings not grounded in religion. Even your dictionary definition of religion isn't completely true where Christianity is concerned. You're just looking for someone to mock and derail in the name of truth seeking. I feel really sorry for you. Keep holding to your concept of Christianity as a religion and stay there aiight. You can't make me accept that Christianity is a religion when it's more than that. Just don't try. For example where Jesus taught on turning the other cheek, going two miles when you're asked to go one mile to name a few of the teachings of Jesus at the sermon on the mount are not rooted in religion.

Religion definition isn't wrong in what constitutes a religion in the broad sense of taking all religions in the world into account but limited specificaly in scope to Christianity when people take that meaning literally on the surface.

I know so many young or even older people I will show that definition of religion and it will limit their scope of what Christianity entails..

How we practice it is much more important than the name we give it..
If Religion works for him and he tries to do right as Christ did ..fine and good.
If way of life or Lifestyle works for us and we try to do as Christ did ..
fine and good.

What we call a way of life, he calls religion based on the English definition. That's OK by me. The koko is he understands the context.
Na linguistics, synonym, semantics, etc we dey argue which is a bit irrelevant.

We can agree to disagree with him on that.
You have a point there. I actually pointed him to the Sermon on the mount scriptures to let him get an idea of what I mean but he's hell bent on sticking with his view of Christianity.
Thanks
PoliticsOnce Upon A Shanty City by AngelahFlo(op): 2:33pm On Oct 07, 2025
Good afternoon guys,
This post of mine started as a trail of curiosity down memory lane. Growing up if always heard about this mega shanty city that occupied what used to be a bog(swampland) bordering Victoria Island. Sometime in the 70s the Colonial masters decided to sand fill it to reduce the mosquito population and perhaps to reduce the spread of malaria. The sandfilled bog became a land bridge connecting Victoria Island to the new land making it an extension which in time became populated by its first settlers who were mainly foreigners from neighboring African countries as well as some Nigerians too. At the time the land bridge area comprised of 30 distinct villages of which Iru was one of them. Each village had its own head and each existed side by side and conducted their affairs in peaceful coexistence. In time the villages grew and decided to merge together to form one Mega Shanty City called Maroko.

The oil boom of the 70s and 80s made this Shanty City a magnet for people coming to Lagos for the first time. It became a place for the displaced, refuge for the runaways a sort of asylum for anybody running from the law.
Covering a massive space that spanned between kilometer 8 to Kilometer 13, this Boisterous Shanty City boast of 10000 houses owned by their landlords. 300000 inhabitants and had about 150 streets crisscrossing it.

Sometime in 1979 Chief Obafemi Awolowo wanted to displace the people of thus town so he gave the job to Mr Lateef Jakande but Mr Jakande was unable to execute the job because of his emotional attachment to the people. After that During Buhari's tenure as a Military Head of State, high ranking naval officer Akhigbe tried to buy some of the land space of this city but was prevented by the Buhari led administration then it happened.

Major Gen Babangida took over power from Buhari and in 1989 paid Maroko a visit for the first time in the company of Colonel Raji Rasaki and the then EtiOsa local government chairman whose last name was Beecroft. He came with the promise of bettering the lives of the indegenous people of this Shanty City by improving their living conditions. He even went as far building a new Bank for the people. Unbeknownst to them, the Oniru of that time had plans to do a land grab and decided to use his connections with the then Chief Judge Justice Ligali Ayorinde. To legalize a massive demolition of the Shanty City with the promise of a reward in there for him. This plan came to fruition on July 14 1990. A day that began the gradual and total deletion of a once thriving Shanty City.
As I write this post, I've pored the net reading article after article on this and more. The stories around this act is too gut wrenching to write. Is it the mass murders, rapes and looting and destruction of properties without and displacement of people without a plan for their resettlement!!

The place where the Shanty City once occupied is now Lekki Phase 1, Oniru Royal Estate, Four points and Oriental Hotel land to mention but a few. Infact the whole area from that Oriental Hotel axis down to Elf area was the residence of people who once owned lands and businesses.
After the saga, some of the inhabitants were resettled in Ikota and Ilasan estate which at that time was a poorly developed bushy area. In time the people who moved there died due to hardship and disillusionment. Their children became the breed of touts we now see on the Island and their girls became the breed of "Red letter ladies" who parade the streets to ply their fun trade. It's really a sad sad tale.

Currently history is about to repeat itself as Jakande Estate is about to face the same fate of the mega slum. My question is why does the government and certain individuals do this thing called land grabbing?
I really wanna know and I believe this post Wil shed more light on why certain investments shouldn't be looked into.

When I say more than a religion, it means Christianity is a religion + much more.

In the context of the modern world and for simplicity, it's simply a religion. But for believers, I believe it is much more than following rules and rites.
People will always wanna agree with their own preconceived logic. Truth is when you place "Religion" beside what "True Christianity " really is, then you'll understand that Christianity is more than just a religion but someone like Mr Truthseeker and several others will never understand this so they keep hammering at it. If my definition is not sitting well with you or doesn't agree with your logic then it ain't my fault. I can't answer your question because it's already been treated. Christianity EtcMustard Seed Faith by AngelahFlo(op): 7:28pm On Oct 05, 2025
The Bible says that if you have faith like a mustard seed, you'll say to this mountain be moved and be cast into the sea and it will happen as you say if you don't doubt. To give you a broad understanding of what led to this discourse let's backtrack a bit. The previous day Jesus and His disciples had gone into a city and they passed by a Fig tree. Jesus walked towards the tree expecting to pluck some ripe figs from it but there was none as it wasn't the season for fig fruits yet. For this reason, Jesus declared to the tree that no one will ever eat fruit from it again and the disciples heard Him. The very next day when they were leaving the city, they passed by the Fig tree again only that this time, the tree was now a dead leafless piece of wood. The Mustard seed is a very small seed like a grain of sand. The Bible says if you have faith as small as that seed you'll move mountains with the word of your mouth.

Lemme give you guys a bit of history. The sea of Galilee which was the sea being referred to here isn't really a sea but a lake. It was formed when a Volcano erupted and spewEd molten lava in two directions towards the Jordan river thus blocking the flow of water from both ends and creating what we now call the "Sea of Galilee" today. So when Jesus spoke of mountain, He wasn't using a figure of speech. The Mustard seed Faith is a speaking faith. You address a situation that is contrary to the word of God and watch how miracles happen to you. So begin to engage your faith over every stubborn situation now. Lemme conclude with this moving story.

An old man who was a Farmer wanted to renovate the roof of his house so he climbed up and began working on the renovations. His young son was out in the fields tending to other farm duties with his mother. Suddenly an accident occured as the man lost his footing and fell from the roof to the ground and broke his spine. When theyoung son ran to the scene of the accident, he saw his dad lying faceup with his face a mask of pain. He managed to get a neighbor who carried his Dad in his truck to the nearest hospital which was miles from their farm home.
On getting there, the doctor who attended to his Dad said that he has a spinal injury and the only person who can cure him is a popular female doctor whosee name was Angela Bragga. They reached out to the lady after getting her info online. She responded that she'llaro charge them $100grand. This was a poor family so the money was a real challenge to raise but the son believe in miracles so he made it a point of duty to petition God for a miracle. He did every day at a particular hour no matter the state of things at the farm. His mom got worried and tried dissuading him without success. One stormy night as they were about to have their supper, they heard a loud knock and the mom went to answer it. Standing outside the door was a woman covered in mud asking if she could spend some few hours with them as her car had broken down not too far from there house till the rain abates. They welcomed her in and shared the supper with her. Somewhere during the supper, the time came for the young man to go and pray as he had always been doing aforetimes and the lady asked him what his prayer point is that he can't wait to finish his meal first. The young man then launched into his narrative of how he's been beseeching God to send Angela Bragga to come and treat her daddy. With tears in her eyes this lady introduced herself as Doctor Angela Bragga that she was on her way to Congress when her scheduled flight was cackled due to the storm and as she was on her way home she lost her way in the storm and her car got stuck at the very precinct of the young praying man's house. She ended up agreeing to treat the dad because she took her cancelled flight and broken down car as a sign to do a good deed to a praying family.

God still works wonders. He's waiting for your mustard seed Faith to be released so He can step in and move that mountain
Clear that debt
Change that situation!!

you know this desperate approach is fueling spiritual exploitation in churches today which is not good for Christianity?

A situation where pastors keep telling church members to seek holiness desperately by coming to church always and serve God is shifting their attention and curiosity to what is not necessary.
Hence the pastor will definitely take advantage like a survivor of the fittest and exploit the church members for his personal benefits. Because by psychology, the people does not have sense
So the pastor who does not have any hand work will continue to be richer while the vast majority of the church members who go to work their money and bring offering to church remains poor

To have a clear interpretation of this scripture without any evil intention, Jesus is saying that blessed are those who believe in him for they shall be made holy.

Holiness is simply believing in Christ, that is when your eternal life is sure
The very first step to getting to heaven is to first acknowledge the fact that you're a sinner in need of a savior and then you acknowledge the Lord Jesus as your Lord and savior. When you've done this, you can then seek a life of holiness and purity.

You don't just seek holiness when you've not made peace with God. How can you get His attention when your heart isn't right with Him? Get back to God
Confess your sins and ask Jesus to come into your heart thus experiencing the new birth. Otherwise you'll be praying and seeking holiness for a long time without result

The Egusi combo I like is Egusi and "Efo tete." I'm not a fan of Egusi and Ogbono no matter how you prepare it. Something about the slimy consistency puts me off. I also love Egusi and Stew. The way the Egusi will turn out reddish and have that stew taste ehn!!
It was a Yoruba neighbor that gave my mum one and after tasting it, loved it and decided to prepare hers with an Efik woman's twist and man! I was converted. She's late now but I'm glad she passed that cooking skill to me.
