Italy ’s populist government plans to reward parents who have a third child by awarding them a piece of land, in a bid to reverse the country ’s plummeting birth rate , media reported Wednesday.
The plan , cooked up by the far - right League and included in the draft budget for next year, would see the state concede parcels of agricultural land for 20 years to parents who have a third child between 2019 and 2021 .
“They say that Italians have few children and that something is needed to turn the trend around,” said Agriculture Minister Gian Marco Centinaio.
“That’s why the ministry wants to contribute , favouring rural areas in particular , where people still have children,” he told the media .

Italy has the lowest birthrate in Europe . Last year some 464 ,000 births were registered , a record low, leaving Italy with a significantly older population and a demographic time bomb .
The land - for - children idea is supported by Italy ’s ultra- Catholic families minister Lorenzo Fontana , who said however that it will be limited to married couples, rather than those in civil unions.
Political commentators said that would not be easy , as the law provides civil unions with most of the same rights as marriage.
Foreigners interested in the offer would need to have been resident in Italy for at least 10 years .
According to Coldiretti , the association of Italian agricultural companies, the state owns half a million hectares (1 .2 million acres) of farmland worth nearly 10 billion euros ( $ 11 .3 billion).

Simply put it, only 38% of our population registered with INEC as eligible voters. Meanwhile based on data from National Population Commission and National Bureau for Statistics, Nigeria has over 61% of its population eligible to register as voters.

Funny enough only 28,587,564 turnout to vote on the day of the general election, which is just 15.9% of our population.

15% determined the fate of 85% that refused to register or turn up for elections.

You are all over facebook, twitter and whatsApp arguing, debating, postulating and proposing good governance but you have no PVC.
You claimed you are exposed, schooled, learned, fear God and you daily pray for God to bring good governance to his people, yet you have no PVC. Faith without works is dead. If you like prophesy, cast all the demons and annoint Nigeria, if you have no PVC, you can't stand up to be counted.

Always know that bad politicians are not born but are product of people who don't vote.

During the June 12, 1993 Presidential election, Abiola won only Anambra State, the other South East States voted for Tofa (a northerner). Cross River, Delta, Edo voted for Abiola. An Igbo person (Arthur Nzeribe) got an overnight black-market judgment to annul Abiola's election; when it was becoming obvious that he would win.
Note that the Igbo man together with a northerner (the judge) and military dictator IBB(another northerner) saw to the annulment of the election. I need not remind you that the Electoral Chairman (Professor Humphrey Nwosu ) at that time was also an Igbo man. In 2008 he published a book in which he claimed that Babangida was not to blame for annulling the election.
During the fights to restore democracy, great Nigerians like Frank Kokori, Alfred Rewane, Ken Saro Wiwa, Kudirat Abiola, Gani Fawehinmi, Abraham Adesanya, Wole Soyinka and other democracy activists fought against Abacha. Some of them were killed, others hounded out of the country, Odumegwu Ojukwu and his colleagues were busy frolicking with Abacha, he even traveled to the US at a time to shore up the image of Abacha (a northerner who was trying to turn himself into a democratic life-president).
That reminds me, another "Kanu" back then organized the "Youth Earnestly Ask for Abacha" rally. Onyeka Onwenu sang the praises of Abacha at the rally.
These guys wined and dined with the conservative northern oligarchs back in the day; but now that the arrangement is no longer suitable, they think burning down the country should be the only way out. Me think, that is childish; only infants try to scatter the game when they lose.
Till date, no Yoruba group has come out to call Igbo people "betrayals", "cowards" or "animals" for the action of some Igbo elites. We understand that the elites do not represent an entire ethnic group.
Next time, they call Yoruba people betrayals show them this post; next time they call us cowards, tell them, the only successful offensive ever undertaken by Biafra against Nigerian territory was led by a Yoruba man, Victor Banjo. Remind them also that cowards don't build empires.

Yesterday I went home late from an official function and I decided to use an Okada (bike). On arriving home I alighted, paid the guy and left...

As I approached the gate, I saw the okada guy following, I quickly changed the direction and started moving away from the gate but the guy continued following me....

I moved faster the guy increased his speed then I realised I was in deep shit. I began to run, seeing him behind me I ran faster but he kept on following me even riding faster....

I got tired and decided to stop, turned around and faced him...

I made up my mind that one of us must go down but I will fight it to the end. So I asked him

"Why are you following me?"

The guy replied softly "give me my helmet......."
