You use/reuse heated vegetable/cooking oils (Palm oil/ Red oil/ Groud nut oil)

https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8064/8202680893_b1b467901e_s.jpg https://www.business-standard.com/newsimgfiles/image/palm%20oil.jpg

It is important to choose oils such as coconut oil and olive oil, which are be stable enough to resist chemical changes when heated to high temperatures, or you run the risk of damaging your health. One of the ways vegetable oils can inflict damage is by converting your good cholesterol into bad cholesterol—by oxidizing it.

When you cook with polyunsaturated vegetable oils, oxidized cholesterol is introduced into your system. As the oil is heated and mixed with oxygen, it goes rancid. Rancid oil is oxidized oil and should NOT be consumed. it leads directly to vascular disease.

Alternatives: Extra virgin Olive oil, Coconut oil.

You consume too much stimulants:

https://www.evitamins.com/images/blog/Boost-Energy-With-Kola-Nut-.jpg

The caffeine in kola nut increases systolic and diastolic blood pressure by increasing the resistance in the peripheral veins. Kola nut stimulates the central nervous system and may interfere with sleep by inhibiting the neurotransmitters that trigger reduced brain activity with doses of caffeine higher than 400mg per day. Sleep deprivation increases the chances of having high blood pressure.

Some experts say getting less than six hours of sleep a night may raise your risk of hypertension.

Alternatives: Consume in tiny portions early in the day, avoid consumption in the evening.

You drink too much alcohol..shepe, nkwu, schnapps, stout, beer, odeku grin grin grin
.

Drinking too much alcohol can raise blood pressure to unhealthy levels. Having more than three drinks in one sitting temporarily increases your blood pressure, but repeated binge drinking can lead to long-term increases.
Heavy drinkers who want to lower blood pressure should slowly reduce how much they drink over one to two weeks. Heavy drinkers who stop suddenly risk developing severe high blood pressure for several days.

Alternative: Moderate drinking: Two drinks a day for men younger than age 65
One drink a day for men age 65 and older
One drink a day for women of any age

Your portion size is prodigious:

https://www.usnews.com/pubdbimages/image/48302/FE_DA_20130509_ISC_obesity1250x163.jpg

serving yourself medium to small portion sizes help you recognize your body's "I'm full" cues, plus it's an easy way to cut calories, which can help you lose weight. Extra weight puts extra strain on your heart, which ups your blood pressure, cholesterol, and risk of heart disease. "Getting down to a healthy weight absolutely reduces your risk," says Shlofmitz-and even losing as little as five or 10 pounds makes a difference.

Always serve yourself medium - small portions and eat slowly. The food is not running away now grin

You cook with too much salt:

https://chriskresser.com/wp-content/uploads/Salt-Chips1.jpg https://i00.i.aliimg.com/photo/v0/50046648/Canned_Tomato_Paste.jpg

Excess sodium causes your body to retain more fluid, increasing blood volume. Your heart then has to work harder to move more blood through the vessels, which raises pressure in your arteries. "Too much salt intake is by far the number one cause of hypertension," says Shlofmitz.

Shake the salt out of your diet by eating fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh meat instead of processed and cured, and looking for low-sodium on packaged food labels.

Excess salt can be found in: Packaged foods like tomato sauce, soups, canned food and prepared mixes

Salt alternatives: Garlic powder, onion powder, lime juice, lemon juice

Note: E is the safest method for the outer ear.

The best way to clean wax from the inner ear is to use peroxide or olive oil. Peroxide works great & you can really hear/feel it working.
1. Tilt your head to one side and fill one ear canal with hydrogen peroxide using an eye dropper. Fill the ear canal completely.
2. Within a few minutes you will notice bubbling in the ear. Let the peroxide stay in the ear until it stops bubbling. If the bubbling has not stopped after five minutes, drain out the peroxide and refill the ear with fresh peroxide. When the bubbling has stopped, drain out the ear.
3. Repeat the procedure on the other ear.

Reference: Nice presentation but one of the problems of obesity and its relations is portion sizes. The quantity of food in those pics can be misleading. Anyone of those can still kill you in the long run. We eat way beyond our metabolism in this country. Its not always about what we eat but about the timing and the quantities as well. I know someone who ran down his blood pressure over indulging on bananas. Wisdom is finding the right balance.
I agree! Please feel free to open a thread about it. It is highly informative.

Afam4eva: High blood presure is dangerous. But while trying to arrest the situation especially with yam, make sure you don't eat the YAm that will send you to your early grave faster than HBP. Because the kind of yams that i see these re-enforces that part of the bible that says "Upon this rock...". If you must eat YAM, don't talk and make sure you have water close to you. Thanks.
lmao grin noted. Or you can always slice them into tiny chunks. Try sweet potatoes, they are softer.

Tilapia/ Olive oil:

Tilapia fish contains a number of nutrients, including some compounds that can help to lower high blood cholesterol. The most beneficial fat found in tilapia is monounsaturated fats. Consuming these fats has a positive effect on your blood cholesterol levels: the fat increases the levels of high-density "good" cholesterol, while reducing the levels of low-density "bad" cholesterol.

Olive oil contains polyphenols, which help to keep your levels of LDL cholesterol within healthy ranges. Regular consumption of olive oil can help decrease both systolic and diastolic blood pressure.

Garlic/ Onions :

Eating a clove of garlic a day was found to have beneficial effects on hypertension control. In a study found, people with high blood pressure when given one clove of garlic every day for 12 weeks, blood pressure and their cholesterol levels are significantly reduced.
Such as garlic, onions are also useful in managing hypertension. Sulfur compounds contained in garlic has been shown to reduce high blood pressure. This is not surprising because onion is a cousin of garlic.

Beans/ Cabbage:

https://www.foodsubs.com/Photos/swedishbrownbeans.jpg https://www.worldcommunitycookbook.org/season/guide/photos/brusselsprouts.jpg
Cabbage is high in a chemical called glutamic acid, which can help in reducing blood pressure. Glutamic acid is the most common amino acid and accounts for almost a quarter of vegetable protein and almost one-fifth of animal protein.

Beans are high in fibre, magnesium and potassium. These are excellent ingredients for lowering blood pressure and improving overall heart health.

Try making some 'oyibo medede' with these two grin :
HealthRe: Nigerian Foods That Help Lower Blood Pressure by aniiii(op):
Guavas/Bananas:
Guavas are beneficial in regulating blood pressure. It is said that one guava contains almost a similar amount of potassium that's present in bananas. Potassium reverses the effects of sodium, thereby regulating the balance of blood pressure. Also, it reduces cholesterol levels in the blood by preventing it from thickening.

African yam/ Sweet Potato:
African Yam and Sweet Potato plays an important role in lowering blood pressure.
They provide a good source of vitamin B-6. This vitamin is important in protecting blood vessels from damage. Vitamin B-6 breaks down a material known as homocysteine, which increases the risk of medical conditions such as heart attacks and strokes.
