Nairaland / General / UNIOSUN Students Plan Protest Tomorrow by Anjolaajayi(m): 8:52pm On Feb 15, 2017
Some section of students are not happy with the management of the school and have decided to protest tomorrow thus rallying support from other fellow students to join in the peaceful protest, the reason for the proposed protest is stated below:

"In defence of peace and unity among the student's and management of Osun State University, we have been gentle and calm in our plea to the management to make learning and school life more conducive for us"

"But today, 15th of Jan, 2017, we regret to inform you that the Osun State University management's policies have not been going in our favour.

As a matter of fact, it seems like the new administration (under the new VC) has been initially set up to pull us back and make schooling unbearable for us".

"We will not sit and be bullied.

We have tried all possible approaches to dialogue but it seems there is only one language which they understand clearly and we shall speak it to them".

"In this regard:

*There will total amputation of activities in school tomorrow to protest the difficulties and hardship the students are facing.*

Increment of School fees, 10k Late Registration, Poor health service, and several other benefits of the students will be our course for tomorrow's protest".

"We urge us all to join the movement and ask for what belongs to us".

Health / Article: Peer Influence, A Contagious Disease Like Ebola And Hiv/aids by Anjolaajayi(m): 2:37pm On Feb 02, 2017
An article from a guest writer on the blog today, grab your pop corn and enjoy.

Written By Omolade Adnan Seyi

The rate at which teenagers and youths fall victim to peer influence is of great concern. This is because the society is full of different behaviours caused by peers and most especially maladaptive behaviours which has put the society into one lacking morality and security. Peer influence is contagious like Ebola and HIV/Aids. As we all know, Ebola and HIV/Aids are contagious diseases that have led to uncountable cases of death.

Peer influence is also contagious like those diseases in our society. The rate of maladaptive behaviours in our society is very high, with teenagers and youths engaging in behaviours they are not meant to, as a result of bad peer influence. Peer influence is a contagious disease that is acquired by an individual through interaction with peer(s), So many teenagers and youths in our society are victims of peer influence which has been impacting their lives negatively. Thus, making it important for teenagers and youths to have a re-think on how they live their lives and control their future.

Peer influence could be negative or positive. The negative ones include illicit sexual relation, smoking, alcoholism, drug abuse, indecent dressing, prostitution gambling among others,. Good peer influence will never have anything to do with the aforementioned but rather involves advises on how to succeed in academic life, how to become one of the best in: education, general knowledge, sport, vocation, religion matters, and morality among others.

Our society is full of atrocities committed by teenagers and youths who lack good peer influence. Imbibing negative peer influence is a result of lack of confidence in oneself. A person engaging in illicit dressing, using expensive phone and wears based on money realized through illegal means, going to club, dating “big girls” and the likes due to jest and mockery from his/her peers is a manifestation of foolishness. It is a sign that such a person is very weak and immature.

People with illicit character may hail you, play with you, befriend you when they see you as a “successful person” or one who “belongs” but will desert you when problems come. You should not forget that whatever you achieve through illicit means will soon fade away.

I therefore advise parents to please guide their children on self confidence and ability to choose the right path. To the teenagers and youths out there, I urge you to please never allow bad peer influence into your lives. It does not worth it. Be yourself, be contented with what you have, be strong and confident in yourselves, always say no to advises and opinions that you know are destructive to your future, career and general life and most especially,be prayerful.
Wish you the best.

Check out this tweet from the twitter handle of Babcock University Nigeria.

The school has said that they will be checking student's laptops for pornography content. LoL.

Do students even have to keep such on their laptops these days? Does checking mean they will stop watching? Are they primary school students? How does students watching porn affect the school management?

Romance / INSIGHT: Abusive Relationships Among University Students Bleechreport. by Anjolaajayi(m): 1:01pm On Aug 26, 2016
Being in a relationship can be fun or otherwise. It depends on many things which temperament and the desire of both parties(the lady and the guy) is one to consider in line with this article.

It has been seen in many cases that one party experiences abuse in a particular relationship, cases of boyfriends beating up their babes, and cases of girls beating their boyfriends *coughs*, (that doesn't happen often) this happens mostly among students who live 'couples life' on campus.

Issues of boyfriends beating their girlfriends has not only been heard but seen several times in the neighbourhood, the stories(or scenes) are not quite interesting but rather disappointing and disgracing. I cant say it is inevitable because it does happen often than it should. Yes, everything happens for a reason we know, but why do this happen? Owing to individual view, the reason cant just be imagined, but rather guessed or known.

Vividly the main cause of this issue depends majorly on the temperament of the guy (boyfriend), hot tempered guys are most likely to beat their girlfriends more often than the cool tempered ones. They tend to hit their babes at the slightest mistake, especially in a situation where they are seen with another guy, this happens when their temperament is fueled by jealousy.

A friend of mine happened to be a victim of this, she attends night classes but her boyfriend was not comfortable with that. On a fateful night when she went for night reading, she had this reading partner, a guy who assists her in courses she had less knowledge of, this guy was unknown to her boyfriend. That night her boyfriend decided to also go for night class, the lady being someone who feels comfortable around people regardless of the gender decided to rest her head on the guy's shoulder when she felt sleepy...Somehow, her boyfriend saw her in that position, at that moment I guessed he would have hit her, but probably he didn't want to or create a scene, he waited for her to return back to the hostel before dealing with her, on getting to the hostel, still full of anger, he didn't allow her UnCloth herself before he started nagging, before she could complete a sentence she had received a hot slap on her face, the outburst of her cry called the attention of his neighbours.

After making several findings he later discovered they were just reading partners, no strings attached..What a pity, the deed has been done!

More cases have been heard about guys trying to have total control over their woman (dey neva pay dowry oh....some guys ehn) thereby giving them instructions and commands to obey which brings about punishments and beatings when they don't abide to the instructions given to them. This is due to the guys poor impulse control, they cant control their reactions when they are vexed.

However some guys beat up their girlfriends simply because they feel they are entitled to do that, they feel they can so far they are the 'man' in the relationship they make themselves 'gods' over their woman and think they can only be corrected by beating them, making the woman feel inferior, outrageous and ridiculous I say.

I once listened to a man telling Oprah Winfrey in one of her shows how he do beat up his wife, he said it all started six weeks after their wedding just because he saw her dancing with another man. Although he said he couldn't bear what he did and he had to apologize to his wife, but he just could not stop, he continued for about two and half years (as he said) even when his wife was pregnant. He went for several counselling and seminars for married men but could not stop the disgraceful act!

But what then could be the cure?

WHAT IS YOUR PLAN?

Nairaland / General / What Is Your Plan? by Anjolaajayi(m): 9:17am On Jun 27, 2016
Alot of us wake up daily and just follow what others do and not what we wanna do. Other times, we wake up without no particular plan for the day, we then go about things the way they come around.

I once asked a friend what he wants to do after school and guess what he said "Anything God wants me to be." God helps those who help themselves was my response.

You must have a plan for yourself that is only when God can help it become a reality.

Planning is stating what to do, how to do it and of course when to do it. It won't take you anything to sit down and draw a difficult but achievable plan.

Our everyday life should be planned, you should have a plan of things you would like to achieve everyday. It makes things better and easier and trust me, you'll feel very happy and fulfilled by the end of the day when you think back and realize you have accomplished all you planned on the day.

When you have a daily plan, this way you're planning your whole life and following a pattern of organisation.

It's true no one knows tomorrow but it doesn't buy you the excuse of not planning for it. What if that huge opportunity comes around and you're not prepared?

Someone who has the habit of planning everyday won't have a problem with planning his/her future. In fact, you should have a Plan A and B peradventure A doesn't work out.

Not planning means auto planning. Auto planning means failure. I can bet you don't wanna fail. As you go on today I put this question to you. "What is your plan?"
