Hello guys please help review the information below

Thanks

Dear United States consulate office,

I am writing on behalf of my six month old baby xxxxx with
passport number xxxxx

I am writing to apply for the priority F1 student visa surge that was announced recently. This is to enable me travel with my six month baby for my PhD studies at the University of xxxx, in spring 2022.

My official program start date is: 18th January, 2022. However as international student, I am expected to be on campus 2 weeks before resumption, in order to attend a compulsory international students orientation.
My tentative date of departure is: 27th December, 2021.

Attached with this email, are copies of my SEVIS fee payment confirmation, her MRV receipt, her I-20 form, my Admission letter, DS160 and her Passport.

I will be glad if my request is granted

Thank you.

Best regards

Thanks to everyone that assisted me on this journey.

I later deferred.

I have done my interview at the Abuja Embassy with the dreadful Korean guy.

VO : Do you have any travel history?
Me : None.
VO : what do you do currently?
Me : I am a lecture at XYZ
VO : Ok.
VO: What is your highest qualification?
Me: I have a masters Degree with Distinction
VO: Who is paying for your Trip?
Me: my husband.
VO to my husband: what do you do?
Him : I work as an Engineer at ABC
VO : How much do you make?
Him: I make 500k monthly.
VO : Do you have your bank statements?
Him: Yes. He showed him.
VO : This is ok.
VO: what would you be doing in the US?
Him: I am going with my family to settle them in, I would be back to my job.
Him: I have some projects I need to come back to.
VO: Where would the baby be?
Him: She would be staying at the creche.

VO: Madam, I would be approving only your visa.
Unfortunately I won't be granting your baby and your husband.

My baby is just 6 months.

I am thinking of reapplying for her, please advise.

I wonder why a 6 months baby would be denied. I am going for PHD.

I run a company that has a Bank account that handles some cash flow that could stand as my proof of fund for the Visa interview.

Are company accounts allowed for proof of funds?
The company is registered by me.

I do not know your specific concerns but based on what you shared, you have approximately 5 months between now and your program start date. (Mid-April to late-September)

First, giving birth in the US can be pretty expensive. I wouldn't know if that is covered in your funding, or you have the funds to pay that.

Secondly, your EDD is between 30-40days. Unless you are specifically flying to give birth, I wouldn't medically advise you to get on a plane now or start worrying too much about visa stuffs. Your baby needs you to be at rest.

All other things being equal, after delivery, you will still have roughly three months before your program start date. Even if you decide to wait 2 months postnatal, you can get all visa issues within one month and arrive in the US with your baby.

You should accept the offer. Focus on your baby for now, Then come back to Nairaland after delivery.

I wish you a safe and sound delivery.

Thank you so much for this. Deferring and giving birth in the US are not part of the options I am considering.

I just sent you a PM.

Anjyy, deferment may not be an option for you. A professor or a project you are attached to got the fund for you. Most fundings come in Fall. You may lose the spot. Na God a take beg you, go for your visa for fall and move. Baby can come later if he/she doesnt make it now (but do your best). It is better you get there, let your intention be known, and your baby gets a better chance with you there to move her asap. However, look at the options you have very well. But whichever option you choose, your baby will pray for you that you move because she has a good chance to be with you while you are there. Even your husband also. But if you lose this opportunity, it may never come around again.

But if your department and the source of the fund agrees you can defer it, then, good for you. Just be extra careful the way you ask them. If they see you will be too much burden in them, they can give your spot to the next qualified candidate. Just be careful. My own advice is that you go for what you have. Move. Your baby stands a very good chance to join you very soon later even with your hubby if they do not go for it now. Please, research it very well. You may not get an accurate answer here. But the strong advice I have for you: "Na God a take beg you...do not lose this opportunity as the principal applicant". Education worth of $100,000 plus is what you have. Make you no miss am ooo. Also, a gateway to a huge opportunity in life for you and even this baby. He/she must be with a shining star.

Thank you. I have gotten some responses but deferring is not an option.

I am still very confused and I am getting overwhelmed already.

congratulations on your full funding - that's a remarkable feat. In providing answers to your question, I wouldn't want you to get nervous and make the wrong choice.

Let's assume June is your expected time of delivery. you still have ample time since your school resumes by September. So don't fret! You definitely will be going with your baby, so you have to plan for that. If your husband is willing to go with you, then that's perfect. he will be coming with you using the F2 dependents visa, you all can apply together, even attend the interview together. For visa applications, get all your passports ready ( inclusive of your newborn - I hear there has been a shortage of this recently due to the breach of contract between FG and the Malaysian manufacturers, but then it shouldn't wary of you). Process your i-20 and get it shipped or mailed to you, pay your sevis fee, book a visa appointment date, but I will advise you birth first before picking a date for your visa interview.

Deferment of your admission to Spring 2022 is another option if you think you're not fully ready for September or fear being overwhelmed, but please relay this information to your graduate coordinator, the aim is to keep in touch and carry your school along - That funding is very key, even in deferment, your funding position can still be preserved for you.

Thank you for this insights.

Is it true that a baby must be 6 months before it can be granted Visa?

How true?

One to two months from now is May/June. I would advise you to put to bed first before booking an appointment because you would definitely want to go with your husband and especially your baby.

Another reason to wait is because of your baby’s int’l passport, you can’t go ahead make visa appointment/application without it.

Since your start date is in September, you have from July to September to process your visa application.

The only thing you can do now is to know the additional cost for your baby and spouse and have it readily available in order to process their I-20 fast when the time comes.

Thank you so much for your comment.

You're so kind.

Post your questions on that thread. Fully funded PhD is almost a sure visa for you. The most important is to pick an interview date asap. There are other payments you will make apart from Visa fees like SEVIS. Just post your questions on that thread. You will get answers and guidance.

As regards your baby, just go through the process of getting a Visa first. Then, deal with the issue of your baby afterward or along the visa application process (do not let the issue stress you too much). Put him/her into consideration while applying, but start getting pros and cons of the options you have (no one can decide better for you). I think you can even apply with your spouse also, and it's easy (as long as there is fund). You just need to dig deep to know the best option for you. Whatever you choose, do not lose the opportunity of going for your PhD. "Na God a take beg you".

Congrats in advance.

Thank you so much for this.

The one month to put to bed is it one month from now or one month from September
If from.now, I'll advise to go with your baby as F2 and sort daycare for her(if you're financially buoyant)

If from September, then I'll advise you to defer to spring, talk to your advisor or grad cord about the deferment

God's willing It would be 1 to 2 months from today. As one can't really say the exact time.

And I am considering going with my husband, so he can support me.

is this possible?

You will be fine since you have adequate support. You just need explain at your interview that he is going with you for support at the initial stage.
