In September 623, Muhammad himself led a force of 200 in an unsuccessful raid against a large caravan. Shortly thereafter, the Meccans launched their own raid against Medina led by Kurz bin Jabir.

Apparently the root cause of the battle of badr was your so called prophet's numerous caravan raids(armed robbery) against the meccans. The meccans went to the battle of badr to defend themselves from continually being raided by a gang of notorious criminals(muslims) led by mohamed.

This was in response to the Ansar Muslims (New converts at Madina) who refuse to join Muslims at the battle of Badr to protect them from Meccan invasion. Then, it was a means of service then to defend ones families, town and folks against an invading army.

About being what is best is that anyone who died as a martyr defending (mind you not attacking like Boko Haram, Taliban and ISIS) his people is granted forgiveness and raised high with Allah Subhana Wa Taala on the day of reckoning

Al taquiya nonsense, there was nothing defensive about the battle of badr, it was a purely offensive one on the part of the muslims with the aim of controlling territory.

It's not just about the violent teachings in the quoran which you moderate muslims try to twist or water down. It's about the life style of a man whom you claim to be the 'best of mankind' and should be an example to all muslims. Now we know from authentic islamic sources that he was an armed robber(caravan raiding), murderer, rapist(sex slaves), paedophile, genocidal maniac amongst several other attributes we find totally unacceptable today. How can such a terrible character be described as the best example for muslims to follow Is it not in trying to emulate this villain that several young muslims are becoming terrorists? Truth be told the real problem is islam and the sunnah of mohammed and not some so called people misinterpreting the quoran. Infact I put it to you that it is your likes that deliberately misinterprete the quoran to water down the evil contained therein and make it seem acceptable to unsuspecting people.

According to Muslims, Islam is a religion of Peace, and some of them are indeed peaceful. Whatever side of the divide you belong to, there are bad eggs, and you can't use these few as a yard stick to condemn their religion.

But I can use the teachings of their 'prophet' and despicable examples his life style portends to evaluate the religion. Everything bad about islam was started by their so called prophet.

I am not worrying for them but I am worried for the world and will like to see the world achieve world peace in my life time. Islam remains the by far the biggest obstacle to world peace and the biggest threat to humanity. What I find even more disturbing is that this problem is based on a fraud perpetuated by one man in the seventh century and forced on others by the sword.

If more muslims start to take a hard look at their religion and prophet, they will realise that they are being taken for a ride and renounce islam thus reducing the feedstock of islamic terrorism and making the world a better and safer place.

As human beings, we tend to take our faith very seriously especially as we believe it will determine where and how we spend eternity. As such it only makes sense with closely scrutinise our religion to ascertain if we are on the right path. That said given that religions have so many denominations preaching conflicting doctrines, the best way to evaluate a religion will be based on assessing the direct teachings of the founder of the religion and the life style and example the founder lived.

In the case of mohammed, there are just too many loopholes, lies, inconsistencies, outright contradictions that gives a lie to his claims of prophethood. This is apart from the fact that there was no divine confirmation of his claims to be a prophet other than his personal claims and his lifestyle can at best be described as despicable given the well documented cases of rape, murder, robbery and other evils that he routinely committed that are well documented in the quoran and sahih hadiths.

This brings me back the topic, muslims need to start asking themselves some hard questions about the credibility of their 'prophet' and real truth about their religion.

@OP you don't need to tell lies to promote christianity. It is only muslims that lie to promote their religion.

Islam and the quoran is full of hypocrisy and contradictions. Some rodents will now come here and tell us it was because the torah and injeel was 'corrupted' without being able to provide a shred of evidence. One wonders why their allah couldn't just give them the original uncorrupted version but instead had to send a 'prophet' with zero credibility with a book full of contradictions labelled as the quoran.
