sapele914: Pdp Hypocrite Reverend Papa? Are you not the hypocrite I was once attacked for saying Buhari is not a religious fanatic, says Bishop Kukah
AUGUST 23, 2015
In 2001, Buhari was quoted as saying Muslims should not vote for non-Muslims, and this was used against him politically for years despite denials.
Recalling the role he played, Kukah said: “In 2007, when I wrote an article to clarify what Gen. Buhari was alleged to have said about Muslims voting for Muslims, I had reactions. Some Muslims abused me and accused me of having deceived and misled Gen. Buhari; some Christians accused me of breaking ranks and making a case for a man who ought to have been tried and jailed.
“Those who have changed their jerseys and are not Buhari apparatchiks, were they not the same people who abused Gen. Buhari and harassed us at the Oputa Panel for not ordering [him] to be imprisoned? I laugh when I think of these things. I try to think carefully before I talk. It often takes many years but my critics often find a way of coming around to my arguments. I do not speak out of malice and, sometimes, we may not make our point clearly or even correctly.”

Obviously, Osinbajo and Obi have no tangible records to show, and that is the plain truth.
Obi, as governor of my state, couldn't conduct LGA elections in 8 years. How does he convince anyone about being a believer in democracy and governance, when he denied the people at the most vital and fundamental cadre of society leadership and freedom? Please, someone should help me tell Obi to go and rest.
As for Osinbajo, for he to be at the helm of conceptualizing and implementing one of Africa's biggest social programs, NSIP, comprising of Tradermoni, Marketmoni etc; and putting in place waterproof loan repayment frameworks, demonstrates how grossly incompetent he is. Let's not get carried away by the finnese, grammar and superfluous academic credentials.... those stuffs do not translate to capacity to deliver topnotch leadership. Since you said that Obi and Osinbajo have no tangible records to show, can you please let us know those who have tangible records to show. You can go ahead to also list the tangible records of these people. Thanks |

A local government chairman must account for every money he got from the federal or state, our lawmakers must give account of why they voted for a particular bill.

They are 2 of our brightest aspirants but the fact is that the masses does not determine who wins a party primary.
They dont have the machinery, structure and money to win a presidential primary. Why don’t the masses determine who wins party primaries? Is it because the masses have not organised themselves into a formidable political force, armed with their PVCs? |

festacman: Peter Obi and Prof. Yemi Osinbajo are good presidential materials but they have some key hurdles to jump over:
1 Prof. Osinbajo has no established political structure since he had always depended on Tinubu's structure before now. Yes, he has some governors, NASS members and some notable politicians with him but it is difficult to evaluate such support for now.
In addition, he has the burden of having served under Pres. Buhari though the office of VP in presidential democracy is a mere "spare tyre". Even Tinubu's own media houses are already projecting this 'burden' to demarket him.
Beyond his constitutional position of chairmaning the periodic meeting with State governors under National Economic Council, the brief period he acted as the President created enmity with Buhari's inner caucus.
2. Peter Obi lacks networking beyond Anambra politics. Like Willie Obiano, Peter Obi as governor minded his business in Awka and didn't build bridges. As goes around consulting, his entourage is scanty and he is not ready to his money around to hire entourage. Yes, many young people on Social media support him but what about the talakawas in the North who have been falsely told that Peter Obi as governor deported Northerners from the Anambra state..
Unfortunately, APGA which will be the first political casualty of Obi's presidency has started fighting back, asking who in his right sense would save money in bank while Anambra State was crying for vital infrastructure. They insisted some of his money market investments will mature in 2030, which in the face of inflation was a bad decision. It also insisted that Peter Obi's IGR numbers are questionably low compared to Obiano's.
The task ahead for them is tough but not insurmountable. What is the difference between the two on economic issues? |

press9jatv: Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State should please do the needful on the refuse dumps in Ogun State. Ogun people should do the needful with their local government chairmen who are responsible for waste disposal, and receive millions monthly allocation for that purpose and other responsibilities of LGAs.Why have the LGAs not employed enough people for refuse disposal leavegoodbehind: STATUTORY FUNCTIONS OF LOCAL GOVERNMENTS The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 provides in the Fourth Schedule the main functions of Local Governments in Nigeria as follows: – (a)the consideration and the making of recommendations to a State Commission on Economic Planning or any similar body on: (i) the economic development of the State, particularly in so far as the areas of authority of the Council and of the State are affected, and (ii) proposals made by the said Commission or body; (b) collection of rates, radio and television licences; (c) establishment and maintenance of cemeteries, burial grounds and homes for the destitute or infirm; (d) licensing of bicycles, trucks (other than mechanically-propelled trucks), canoes, wheel barrows and carts; (e) establishment, maintenance and regulation of slaughter houses, slaughter slabs, markets, motor parks and public conveniences; (f) construction and maintenance of roads, streets, street lightings, drains and other public highways, parks, gardens, open spaces, or such public facilities as maybe prescribed from time to time by the House of Assembly of a State; (g) naming of roads and streets, and numbering of houses; (h) provision and maintenance of public conveniences, sewage and refuse disposal; (i) registration of all births, deaths and marriages; (i) out-door advertising and hoarding; (ii) movement and keeping of pets of all descriptions; (iii) shops and kiosks; (iv) restaurants, bakeries and other places for sale of food to the public, (v) laundries, and (vi) licensing, regulation and control of the sale of liquor.
Apart from these exclusive functions, the function of Local Governments shall include participation of such Councils in the government of a state as respects the following matters: (a) the provision and maintenance of primary, adult and vocational education; (b) the development of agriculture and natural resources other than the exploitation of minerals; (c) the provision and maintenance of health services; and (d) such other functions as may be conferred on a local Government Council by the House of Assembly of the State.
As provided for in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Local Governments have functions and responsibilities assigned. Some of these functions are performed exclusively by the Local Government like the maintenance of cemeteries, markets and motor parks. On the other hand, some other functions and responsibilities are performed concurrently with the State Government. Among these concurrent functions are primary education, agriculture, health and any other functions that may be conferred on Local Government by the House of Assembly of the State. As can be seen, these various functions and responsibilities of Local Governments are quite enormous and demanding. The tragedy of the situation is that Local Governments have very limited and circumscribed sources of revenue to enable them execute meaningfully and effectively the functions and responsibilities assigned to them.
In my local government at Ajeromi Ifelodun in Ajegunle, we have not felt the presence of local government at all, take for instance, the road from otto – wharf to Achakpo have never been maintained for as provided in the constitution, the question begging for an answer, is what do the Ajeromi Local Government do with money that go to them? HOW IS YOUR LOCAL GOVERNMENT?, express your mind if indeed they are working now that you know their functions. |

Bola Tinubu said that he doesn't believe in one Nigeria. The newspaper dated April 13, 1997 contained in a bold print where the South western leader made the statement.
This was coming after Tinubu made the call to those calling for Nigeria's breakup to sheath their sword and embrace one Nigeria as the idea of Nigeria's breakup will not be acceptable to them.
According to him, Nigeria cannot afford another war because the effects of the 1967-1970 civil war are still felt in the country even to this moment.
He made this statement at a special Ramadan prayer held in Lagos on Sunday where he said that God will never allow the break of Nigeria because it might lead to another war which the country is not prepared to face at the moment.
He also said that his experience of war in the past has taught him a lesson and he don't pray for Nigeria to experience such again.
Nigeria will not separate, it's not acceptable to us. Our prayer is for property and more wealth for the country, he said.
This angered many Nigerians who went to his past and dug up his article on Thisday News paper programme known as Sunday politics dated April 13, 1997 where the same Tinubu expressed his concern for the one Nigeria saga and publicly said that he doesn't believe in it.

He should relate this insecurity battle to his experience of dealing with Chris Ubah's thugs after the kidnap of Ngige, which Obasanjo described as a family affair. Is it not sad that such a useless person like Obasanjo is regarded as elder statesman by Nigerians adem30: Abducted' Nigerian State Governor back in office
Lagos- Nigeria (PANA) -- Governor Chris Ngige of Nigeria's southeastern State of Anambra has returned to his office, from where he claimed to have been abducted Thursday by some people acting in collusion with the police, the local press reported Friday. But a committee set up by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which controls the state, continues a meeting of major stakeholders in an attempt to find a solution to the political crisis, the worst of its kind since the last general elections in the country. A meeting of all governors of southeastern states is also scheduled later Friday to discuss the event, which political analysts have described as a "failed civilian coup. " Anambra State parliament, claiming Ngige had resigned, promptly ordered the Chief Judge to swear in Deputy Governor Okechukwu Ude, who immediately assumed the functions of the State governor. Though the police claimed Ngige was only taken into "protective custody," the embattled governor reiterated Friday he was abducted, as hundreds of supporters from all the 21 local government areas of the state welcomed him to the State House. "The detention of a governor. . . for five hours portends great danger to our democracy," Ngige told a crowd of his supporters. "I have not resigned. I am strong and fit to govern Anambra. I appeal to all of you to remain calm. This particular ill-wind will blow past. I will not succumb to any blackmail," he stressed. Ngige's supporters barred the Deputy Governor from entering the State House. Though the real cause of the crisis is unclear, Ngige hinted it was the handwork of his political godfather, Chris Uba. He alleged that his abductors, whom he claimed were acting on behalf of Uba, demaded a ransom of three billion Naira from him. (126 Naira=1USD). Indications are that the crisis was sparked by disagreements between the governor and the people who helped him to power in the 19 April gubernatorial elections. The crisis erupted as President Olusegun Obasanjo was attending the African Union summit in Maputo, Mozambique. He is expected back in the country shortly to receive visiting US President George W. Bush, who is due in the capital city of Abuja Friday evening on the last leg of a five-nation Africa tour. 11 juillet 2003 17:02:00
