Amotolongbo: This is a very good advice for the young people just starting life. I would advise the young ladies to live with their parents so those puzzy poachers won’t devour them cos of the vulnerability living alone or sharing accommodation
Was that how it was during the four years of progressive UPN governor Jakande, who did not tax people anyhow to grow budget 100 times like Tinubu has done in 27 years of little or no change in basic services and common utilities
Is it not obvious that Tinubu, fashola, Ambode and Sanwo-Olu have stolen Lagosians blind?
Splashme: The first civilian governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, on Tuesday, said that the cancellation of the Lagos metroline project in 1985 was a major mistake and disservice to many Nigerians.
Jakande spoke in Lagos during the launch of a book which chronicled his life in politics and journalism.
The book, entitled, ‘Jakande: Leadership in Action’ is written by Dr. Bola Olaosebikan, who told the audience at the event that the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), was not responsible for the cancellation of the project.
Jakande said, “Reflecting on the metroline project, I think it is a major disservice to many Nigerians. Imagine how many people would have benefitted. It would have made life easier and changed the face of transport in Lagos. Whoever cancelled it or gave the advice towards its cancellation didn’t do right.”
The former governor asked Nigerians not to vote for unserious leaders in the coming polls, saying the elections presented Nigerians with a good opportunity that should not be squandered.
Expressing the hope that Nigeria would soon overcome its developmental challenges, Jakande said hope would be actualised faster if credible people emerged as leaders in the next dispensation.
He said, “This book comes at a very auspicious time in Nigeria’s history as we need leaders who can act. We need leaders who would not compromise the standards of good governance. God has blessed this nation the most in Africa, although we have not reached where we should be; with the right leaders, Nigeria would overcome its challenges.”

WHO SAYS 4 YEARS IN OFFICE IS NOT ENOUGH FOR MEANINGFUL ACHIEVEMENTS?
IT'S A FACT THAT 90% OF GOVERNORS IN NIGERIA SINCE 1999 WITH REVENUES AT THEIR DISPOSAL CANNOT BOAST OF A QUARTER OF THESE ACHIEVEMENTS EVEN WITHIN THEIR EIGHT YEARS IN OFFICE.
SAFIC Industries Limited in Nigeria is a registered corporate entity (RC 1506420) incorporated on June 28, 2018, with a registered office location in Oba, Anambra State (Off the Onitsha/Owerri Road). Records from regulatory bodies like NAFDAC also associate the company with health and consumer product registrations such as face masks.
lapintoz: Privatisation to his cronies and front men....including NPA assets and Intel generating Atiku billions of USD. Fantastic 👏👏👏👏
Intels was in business long before Atiku became VP. It was established in 1982 as Nicotes Services Limited. That was 17 years before Obasanjo invited Atiku to be his running mate, even though he won Adamawa governorship earlier in January 1999.
NPA gives Atiku, Tinubu’s Intels two weeks to pay $48m
January 31, 2018
Intels, a logistics and facilities services provider in the maritime and oil and gas sectors, was co-founded by Gabriele Volpi, an Italian national, and former vice-president, Atiku Abubakar.
Atiku has since sold down most of his interest in the company to the former Lagos State governor and APC national leader Bola Tinubu.
It must be money from the company that he used to rehabilitate bankrupt, ex-convict Obasanjo when he was released from Abacha prison and made president by northerners on the promise of doing one term like Mandela.
Why don't you share details of NPA privatisation, so we know you are not a balablu bulaba propagandist liar
anonimi: ‘How Atiku saved Obasanjo from near bankruptcy before he emerged president’‘
A new book has revealed how former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, saved ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo from near bankruptcy before he emerged president in 1999.
According to the new book, entitled ‘’Too Good to Die: Third Term and the Myth of the Indispensable Man in Africa,’ Atiku made all his resources available for Obasanjo’s presidential campaign.
The book, written by former chairman of National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, Chidi Odinkalu, and Ayisha Osori, author of ‘’Love Does Not Win Elections,” also revealed how Obasanjo beat late Alex Ekwueme to the presidential ticket of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the 1999 election.
Quoting an account from Atiku, the authors said the trio of Ibrahim Babangida, Theophilus Danjuma and Abdulsalami Abubakar wanted PDP to adopt Obasanjo as their presidential candidate “because they considered him the best person for the job.”
“Implicit in their position was their belief that they knew how to manipulate Obasanjo and the fact that Obasanjo did their bidding in 1979. They felt secure that he could be managed again,” the authors wrote.
Atiku was reportedly asked to join a team to Ogun to inform Obasanjo that he was going to run for the highest office in the land.
“When Atiku and Obasanjo discussed the call to serve as president, Obasanjo said he could not be president because he was a nearly bankrupt ex-convict. Atiku, through General (Aliyu) Gusau, paid money into Obasanjo’s account to begin his financial rehabilitation.
“Head of State Abdulsalami Abubakar helped out by granting him an unconditional pardon. Atiku put everything he had at his disposal to support Obasanjo’s emergence as the PDP presidential candidate and, when he joined the ticket as the vice-presidential nominee, continued to make his assets available to Obasanjo and the campaign.
Angelfrost: The borrowing is ridiculous and reprehensible, especially with excessive corruption and lack of transparency.
However, returning subsidy only worsens everything, and it's actually not sustainable in a nation where there is no fallback option or a diversified economy rich in exports that generates commensurate revenue.
Atiku knows this, and knows subsidy should have been long removed even during PDP time.
Didn't you wonder why Okonjo-Iweala counseled GEJ to do so back in 2011?!!
Atiku is just being dishonest here... I'm not saying this to support the clueless charlatans in Aso Rock.
If corruption is worse then why give government more money to steal?
Atiku’s deregulation and privatisation initiatives diversified the economy until it became the biggest in Africa. What do we have now, after 11 years of APC change and 3 years of Tinubu reforms?
Atiku did better in the past, and he will do better than Tinubu in all ramifications now.
anonimi: How Indorama sustains manufacturers, boosts Nigeria’s FX earnings
Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals Limited (IEPL) has emerged as a major value creator in the Nigerian economy. It is responsible for the survival, growth and sustenance of many manufacturing companies in Nigeria today. A large number of plastic and allied firms depend on the Eleme-based company for petrochemical resins (or polymer resins) which serve as their raw materials.
The petrochemical company is just one of the several subsidiaries of Indorama-Nigeria Group, which also comprises Indorama Eleme Fertilizer & Chemicals Limited (IEFCL), Indorama PET Nigeria Limited, and Indorama Port Operations.
Since Indorama Corporation of Indonesia became core investor in the old Eleme Petrochemicals Company Limited (EPCL) in 2006 through privatisation programme of the Federal Government, the group has become a game changer in the Nigerian economy.
The petrochemical company has solved the major challenge facing a number of manufacturers— poor access to raw materials. Rather than scramble for foreign exchange to import inputs, the company ensures that manufacturers have access to their critical raw materials, enabling them to save costs and improve margins.
The major resins used by plastic and allied companies are polyethylene and polypropylene. Indorama produces about 45 grades of these products for various industries. About 600 of such companies in Nigeria depend on IEPL for their survival. They are estimated to have over 90,000 workers.
Angelfrost: Deep down... Atiku knows he isn't making any sense.
This is just desperate and dishonest campaigning.
How does it make sense to you that APC's Buhari and Tinubu have removed subsidy not once but TWICE, yet they have borrowed more than PDP presidents who gave us cheap petrol, cheap dollars, prosperity, peace and security?
Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun made this known at the end of the inaugural Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja. Mr. Edun said that the benefit of the subsidy removal will be plough back into various sectors to improve business environment for local and foreign investment. He added that with the increased revenue from subsidy removal, various palliatives have been made available to cushion its effect on a short, medium and long-term basis.
Ofunaofu: Report: Current Govt Added More Debt in Two Years Than Nigeria Accumulated in 55 Years
• Decries Nigeria’s debt service-to-revenue ratio
•Urges FG to declare fiscal emergency
A new policy brief has warned that Nigeria’s worsening debt profile and weak revenue generation have pushed the country into a dangerous fiscal position, with the current administration accumulating more debt in two years than Nigeria recorded during its first 55 years after independence.
The report, released by the Alliance for Economic Research and Ethics LTD/GTE, a Nigerian policy think tank, argued that the country’s debt crisis has evolved into a governance and revenue emergency, as debt servicing obligations now exceed the federal government’s retained earnings. > > According to the think tank, Nigeria’s public debt rose sharply from N87.38 trillion in June 2023 to N159.28 trillion by the end of 2025, with President Bola Tinubu’s administration accounting for about N65.9 trillion of the increase within its first two years in office.
The organisation in the brief titled: “Nigeria Is Borrowing to Breathe—and the Clock Is Ticking”, noted that Nigeria accumulated only about N12.06 trillion in debt from independence in 1960 up to 2015, meaning the current administration added more than five times that amount in just 24 months.
The report stated that while previous governments also contributed significantly to the country’s rising debt burden, the speed of accumulation under the current administration had intensified concerns over fiscal sustainability.
“President Bola Tinubu’s administration has added a further N65.9 trillion in just two years. To put that in perspective: it took Nigeria’s first 55 years of independence to accumulate N12 trillion in debt. The current administration has added more than five times that amount in 24 months,” it argued.
It recalled that Nigeria briefly became almost debt-free externally after the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo secured an $18 billion Paris Club debt relief package in 2005 and paid $12 billion to extinguish about $30 billion in external obligations.
AMINDA: Press9jatv, let it go. Tinubu sold you all out in connivance with Wike to secure his own re-election. He should have shown more respect to Akpabio, Barau, Benjamin Kalu, and all the 15 governors that turned out for that election. That was a humiliation.

Racoon: Festus Keyamo Defends Tinubu From Drug Trafficking, Says Tinubu Mistakenly Shared Flats With Drug Lords
The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Mr Festus Keyamo, has distanced the All Progressive Congress presidential candidata, Bola Tinubu, from being a drug baron who was involved in the traffic of narcotics in the United States.
Keyamo, who also doubles as APC Presidential Campaign spokesperson, noted that the former governor of Lagos State only shared a block of flat with drug barons about 30 years ago in the US.
His reaction is coming following documents of a Chicago District Court indicting and convicting Tinubu of drug dealings and money laundering in 1993.
The document which emerged online two days ago, described APC standard-bearer as a drug baron, adding that Tinubu entered a plea bargain, leading to the forfeiture of his assets to US authorities in 1993
It was also pointed out that Tinubu forfeited the sum of $460, 000 dollars in his bank account at First Heritage Bank to the US government.
Speaking on Wednesday on Channels TV, Mr Keyamo dismissed such claims, insisting that Tinubu was linked to drug peddlers who were his neighbours.
He said: “What happened was that Tinubu went to open an account. The address which he used in opening the account was the address used by these people. I think some blocks of flats. Maybe, he was happy to be in that block of flats too.
“So, they now link it that the other people they were investigating for narcotics are in the same address used by Asiwaju to open that account.’’

Lagos — Pension teachers in Lagos State under the aegis of Teacher Pensioners of Nigeria (TEPAN) have urged Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to review his stance on paying the harmonised three year old outstanding pension allowance or risk losing their votes.
In a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of TEPAN, Mr. Ayodabo 'Lade, accused Tinubu of failing to pay the arrears to teachers on their correct pension grade since the year 2000, contrary to what was obtainable in other five States of the South-west controlled by the Alliance for Democracy (AD).

Tinubu spoke at the Chatham House lecture titled: ‘Nigeria’s 2023 elections: In conversation with Bola Ahmed Tinubu’, monitored by The Nation.
At the lecture, Tinubu after his opening remarks, assigned Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai to speak on how his (Tinubu-led) government would address insecurity and asked the Director of Strategic Communication of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Dele Aleke, to respond to the question on oil theft.

Wetin I even know sef? I am just an ordinary Nigerian Policewoman.
Apart from Beni currency being stronger, do they also drink water from shitty boreholes because their governors steal money that should employ well paid workers to make pipe borne water available for everyone?
The federal government is not responsible for water supply in cities and towns. This is the responsibility of states.
500 gallons of water go for N20k. Multiply by 4 in a month, that's N80k. By extrapolation, that's N960k in a year on water alone. Why? Because the governor believes that clean and accessible water is the least of his worries. Yet they prance around like Enugu is Abuja even though the red muddy soil will have residents looking like they went tomb-raiding at night.
But then, considering where it was before Peter Mba, one can understand the accolades being that he moved the town from 16th Century to 17th Century but not anywhere near 20th Century. 21st Century is a stretch. EEDC? The worst of all.
The Permanent Secretary, Office of Drainage Services and Water Resources in Lagos State, Mahmood Adegbite, has said that people drilling borehole in the Lekki axis of the state is probably drinking ‘’shit water.”
While speaking at a stakeholders meeting in the state recently, Adegbite noted that contaminated boreholes in Lekki pose health risk and added that treatment of waste water would eradicate any form of disease that may arise from it.
He said, “On waste water treatment, I will say that everyone digging borehole within the Lekki axis is probably drinking what I will call ‘shit water.’

Although the volume coming from the NNPC into the global market is still small, the development has the potential to impact the Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil (VLSFO) benchmarks in the future while changing the market realities for Atlantic Basin exporters into Nigeria and other regions.
The sulfur content of the export by NNPC stands at 0.26 per cent per wt and a 0.918 g/ml density at 15°C, according to Kpler, a data and analysis company.
The cargo was reportedly sold at an $8.50/t discount to the NWE 0.5 per cent benchmark on a Free on Board (FOB) basis.
Kpler reported that the development would help displace imports from traditional suppliers in Africa and Europe, as Nigeria’s falling clean product (CPP) imports are already decreasing, dragging imports into the wider West Africa region lower as well.

9jatriot: This thread is yet another reason why I once called Tinubu a blessing to Nigeria. Here, a member of the House confirms that despite his previous outburst, Tinubu did not see it as opposition. He did not see it as trying to bring down his government. Instead, he viewed it as feedback—a deficiency in the system that someone had brought to his attention. According to the house rep member, corrective steps have already been taken to address the issue. Sometimes it is the people you employed to do that very job who end up failing at it. If my memory serves me right, the woman who was Minister of State for Finance was redeployed. The substantive minister resigned later. No system is perfect. Every system undergoes continuous improvement to remove bottlenecks and enhance efficiency. Personally, as a human being, there’s a lot to learn from Tinubu. I wish I had his kind of temperament. Even his media aides like Bwala and co have a lot to learn from Mr President.
How can anyone honestly say that this one is a blessing to Nigeria? The same man who begged Buhari to make Jonathan a one term president, after APC invited terrorists to destroy our country?
Tinubu is the greatest curse to Nigeria, without a doubt!
CharlesCNG: This is a false equivalence twice over: telecoms are not petrol, and “genuine deregulation” is not government guaranteeing cheap prices.
Nigeria’s telecom revolution worked because government opened the market to competing operators, while technology, massive network expansion and economies of scale gradually drove costs down. Prices did not magically crash immediately after the 2001 auction. Calls started around ₦50 per minute; serious competitive pressure intensified after Globacom entered in 2003, and tariffs declined over subsequent years. SIM costs likewise fell dramatically over time.
Petrol is completely different. Its principal raw material—crude oil—is an internationally traded commodity. Refiners compete, but they cannot competitively “innovate” the global crude price away. Their naira costs also move with the exchange rate. If crude rises or the naira weakens, domestic petrol economics change.
And here is the contradiction that destroys the argument:
You cannot promise “genuine deregulation” and simultaneously promise Nigerians administratively cheap petrol and cheap dollars.
Deregulation means allowing prices to reflect supply, demand and competition.
What ICT material is not internationally traded?
Why has APC failed to have the same competition in refineries that PDP engineered in telecoms, 10 years after the progreThieves first removed subsidy? Instead of that they fed us with lies about NNPC refineries working and even exporting fuel since 2024, while borrowing more than PDP presidents without improving the economy.
gabydaniels: Aug 25, 2016 The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has disclosed that the federal government has so far saved the sum of N1.4 trillion for not paying oil subsidy.
He also assured Nigerians that very soon, the foreign exchange market would stabilise going by some radical policies already introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The vice president who spoke in Kano yesterday during the third day of the 15th Joint Planning Board and National Council on Development meeting, urged Nigerians to restore confidence in President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, insisting that soonest, the current economic problems would become a thing of the past.
“With the deregulation of the downstream petroleum sector, there has been a significant increase in the availability of petrol throughout the country for the savings of N1.4 trillion on subsidy payments alone,” he said.
“Also, a more flexible exchange rate regime, we will have to decrease the pressure on the external reserve. In the short run of course, there should be consequences for inflation. We expect that with greater priority we have seen in the implementation of the policy by the CBN, the foreign exchange market will stabilise and confidence will be restored.
onatisi: you will be shocked that it is what the masses want , and even like to be treated you cant change peoples opinon on how they want to live or to be governed
How can you say that when people have changed their ways of relating with God, based on proselytisers?
Why don't you find out how Europe reduced monarchical powers and increased the power of the people in who sovereignty ultimately resides? When you find out the enlightenment work done, then you replicate it in your own spheres of reference and beyond. I have assumed that you want us to be better, and I have renewed hope that I am right in that assumption
anonimi: Neo-black Problem: Must Blacks Be Ruled by Whites in Order to Prosper?
In short, the neo-black dilemma may be framed as follows: is it better to live under white rule without political dignity but with basic life-sustaining standards for many;
or to live under black rule with illusory political dignity and without basic life- sustaining standards for the majority? @ @ The path forward for Africa lies in cultivating higher and adequate levels of personal and communal agential integrity as well as full personal responsibility and productivity. Not to mention creativity (including epistemic creativity), productive justice (such as merit and freedom), harmony and reconciliation at local and international levels, and a proper domestication of capitalism and other related values and institutions.
Africa must stop wasting her time on dreams of socialism because it is a system of wealth distribution primarily. Whereas, capitalism is a system of wealth creation primarily, and wealth has to be produced before it can be distributed.
Mubiola360: read what you wrote again my brother, don't you feel embarrassed?
Do you know the answers to the 2 questions? Or do you want to delegate them to someone else?
Maxymilliano: The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has explained why he delegated some members of the party to respond to questions posed to him. According to the former Lagos Governor, he adopted the delegation method “to show team-ship”.
Prospect of a possible alliance between the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN and Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, was dashed yesterday in Kano as the leader of the party and former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu described CPC as parading “expired leadership.”
Tinubu told ACN supporters in Kano during the party’s Presidential rally that: “What Nigerians need now is a transformation in leadership” as obtained in the advanced economy.
The two-term Governor of Lagos State explained that the leadership of ACN was offering Nigeria the brilliance of Nuhu Ribadu who, he said, is in the class of Nicolas Sarkozi of France, David Cameron of Britain, Medvedev of Russia and Barack Obama of the United States of America.
“What has CPC got to offer? We certainly don’t need expired leadership as we are offering the best in terms of brilliance, courage and patriotism in the class of Sarkozi of France, David Cameron of Britain and Barack Obama of the USA.”
Tinubu’s position came on the heels of Ribadu’s declaration penultimate week in Kaduna when he hinted during a political rally of a joint ticket between the two opposition parties to confront the dominance of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The national leader of ACN criticised President Goodluck Jonathan for shying away from the national debate held last Friday, stressing that”that singular act exposed Jonathan as a coward who has nothing to offer.”
