Foreign AffairsKaty Perry And Justin Trudeau Seen Passionately Kissing On A Yacht by AnonPoet(op): 11:46pm On Oct 12, 2025
Katy Perry and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau were seen kissing on the singer’s yacht.
The photos seemingly confirm their rumored relationship.
They were first romantically linked in July this year.
On Saturday, Katy Perry and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau were seen kissing in photographs published by the Daily Mail. In the images, the rumored couple was aboard the singer’s yacht, the Caravelle, anchored near the coast of Santa Barbara, California.

In the photos, Perry appears to be in a black swimsuit, while Trudeau is shirtless and in long pants. Perry and Trudeau were first rumored to be seeing one another in July this year after being spotted at a restaurant in Montreal while Perry was on her Lifetimes world tour.

A source speaking to the U.K. outlet shared, “She pulled up her boat next to a small public whale-watching boat, then they started making out. I didn’t realize who she was with until I saw the tattoo on the guy’s arm, and I immediately realized it was Justin Trudeau.”

Trudeau’s tattoo is a Haida raven, created by Haida artist Robert Davidson.

Another source told the publication that Perry is “very interested” in the political figure.

“Katy is very, very interested in him. She says he’s a real catch, a high-quality guy. She keeps a lot of details to herself, but she clearly still likes him a lot,” said the insider. “They just are so busy and in different cities, so they aren’t physically together. But if there’s anyone worth having a long-distance relationship with, it’s him. She likes him a lot. He likes her a lot. I’d even say they’re enamored.”

PoliticsBauchi Senator, Samaila Dahuwa Kaila Quits PDP Over Internal Crisis by AnonPoet(op): 9:13pm On Oct 11, 2025
The Senator representing Bauchi North, Samaila Dahuwa Kaila, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, citing what he described as incessant internal squabbles and factionalisation within the party.

In a letter dated October 6, 2025, addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman in Tsokuwa/Kofar Gabar Ward, Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Kaila said the deepening crisis in the party had hindered his ability to effectively discharge his duties as a lawmaker in the 10th Senate.

“The incessant internal squabble that has led to unnecessary factionalisation within the PDP is seriously affecting my ability to deliver on my constitutional responsibilities as an elected representative,” the letter partly read.

He explained that his decision to quit the party followed due consultation with his political associates, adding that he would be moving to another political platform soon.

“Accordingly, I hereby write to inform you of my decision to resign my membership of the PDP with immediate effect,” he stated.

The senator, however, did not disclose the political party he intends to join.

Kaila thanked the PDP for the opportunity to serve under its platform, expressing hope for future collaboration “for the benefit of our great country.”

Efforts to reach the lawmaker for further comments proved unsuccessful as calls and messages to his mobile phone were not returned as of press time.

SportsJean-Philippe Mateta: Proof That It’s Never Too Late To Rise by AnonPoet(op): 1:29pm On Oct 08, 2025
In football, we love fairy tales, the 17-year-old prodigy breaking records, the teenage sensation scoring on his debut, or the young star earning a dream move to a top club before he’s old enough to rent a car. But every now and then, a story comes along that reminds us that greatness doesn’t always arrive early. Sometimes, it comes to those who wait, grind, and grow in the shadows.

That’s exactly what Jean-Philippe Mateta’s journey represents, the story of a player who refused to let time define his destiny.

Mateta’s rise is a reminder that success in life, and in football, is rarely linear. Some players peak early, others blossom late. What matters is consistency, focus, and the belief that your moment will come if you keep putting in the work.

Humble Beginnings: From the French Third Division
At 20, while some of his peers were already lighting up the big leagues, Mateta was playing in France’s third division with LB Châteauroux. It was far from glamorous, long bus rides, modest crowds, and a footballing world that didn’t always notice the quiet achievers.

But Mateta wasn’t discouraged. The powerful striker kept improving, showing flashes of promise that earned him a move to Le Havre in Ligue 2. There, he began to refine his game, his movement, composure, and power in front of goal. Each season was a step forward, not backward.

The Bundesliga Leap
By 21, Mateta’s patience paid off. German Bundesliga side Mainz 05 came calling in 2018, handing him a platform to prove himself among Europe’s elite. It was a huge leap for a player who, just a few years earlier, was toiling in the lower tiers of French football.

At Mainz, he grew tougher, learning to battle seasoned defenders, sharpen his finishing, and adjust to the tactical demands of German football. His breakout performances didn’t go unnoticed, and soon, the English Premier League beckoned.

The Premier League Dream
At 23, Mateta made the switch to Crystal Palace, first on loan and then permanently. It wasn’t a fairy tale debut, he had to fight for minutes, adapt to a new pace, and prove he belonged among some of the world’s best forwards.

But Mateta’s career was never about instant success. It was about consistency, work ethic, and resilience. Season after season, he quietly improved, earning the respect of teammates, coaches, and fans.
By 2024–25, his form spoke louder than ever. His goals became crucial for Palace, and his name, once overlooked, started making headlines.

The Reward at 28
Then came the crowning moment. In October 2025, at the age of 28, Jean-Philippe Mateta received his first-ever call-up to the French national team.

It was a moment of triumph not just for him, but for every player who has ever been told “it’s too late.” In a country overflowing with attacking talent Mateta’s inclusion sent a powerful message: persistence pays off.
His story reminds us that football isn’t always about who arrives first. Sometimes, it’s about who refuses to stop showing up.

Ilobet celebrates stories like this because in football, just like in life, it’s all about timing, belief, and smart choices.

Felak Group Dismisses $7 Million Transaction Allegation, Demands Retraction

Felak Group has dismissed reports linking its Group Chief Executive Officer, Dr. (Mrs.) Aisha Achimugu (OFR), and its subsidiary, Oceangate Engineering Oil & Gas, to a $7 million cash transaction involving Providus Bank.

In a statement on Thursday, the company described the allegations published by Mr. Chukwudi Iwuchukwu as “false, contradictory, and misleading,” stressing that neither Dr. Achimugu nor Oceangate had any involvement in the matter.

“We categorically state that neither Dr. Mrs. Achimugu nor Oceangate Engineering Oil & Gas has any connection whatsoever to the alleged transaction,” the statement read.

Felak Group also pointed to inconsistencies in the report, noting that while it claimed the funds were deposited in Lagos, the legal proceedings cited indicated Abuja.

“The attempt to link our principal and subsidiary to this matter is unfounded, misleading, and without any factual basis, and represents a gross abuse of free expression,” the management said.

The company demanded an immediate and unconditional retraction and apology from the
author and from those who circulated the story, adding that the correction must be given the same level of visibility as the original publication.

It further warned that failure to comply would leave the Group with no option but to pursue legal remedies.

“Felak Group remains steadfast in driving innovation and excellence across our industries whilst conducting business with the utmost integrity,” the statement concluded.

BusinessZenith Bank’s Gross Earnings Hit ₦2.5 Trillion In H1 2025 by AnonPoet(op): 2:39pm On Sep 19, 2025
ZENITH Bank Delivers Outstanding 2025 Half Year Financial Results Under Adaora Umeoji’s Leadership

Zenith Bank Plc has once again proven why it stands tall as one of Africa’s most resilient financial institutions.

The bank’s half-year 2025 results, released this week, are not just a story of numbers—they are a story of bold leadership, decisive strategy, and a clear vision under the stewardship of its Group Managing Director/CEO, Dame Dr. Adaora Umeoji, OON.

Despite writing off a staggering ₦760 billion in bad loans as part of the industry-wide CBN forbearance regime exit, Zenith still posted a solid ₦532 billion profit after tax.

For shareholders, this translated into smiles: the Board approved an interim dividend of ₦1.25 per share, a 25% increase from the ₦1.00 paid in H1 2024.

Headline Numbers at a Glance

Gross earnings surged 20% YoY to ₦2.52 trillion (H1 2025 vs. ₦2.1 trillion H1 2024).

Interest income jumped 60% YoY to ₦1.84 trillion, powered by higher yields and strong loan book performance.

Net interest income nearly doubled, up 89% YoY to ₦1.35 trillion.

Customer deposits climbed to ₦23.5 trillion (₦22 trillion Dec 2024), with savings deposits (₦8.8 trillion) now overtaking current accounts (₦8.7 trillion) for the first time.

Total assets stood firm at ₦31 trillion, up from ₦30 trillion in Dec 2024.

Capital adequacy ratio (CAR) at a robust 26%, far above regulatory thresholds.

NPL ratio improved to 3.1% (vs. 4.7% in Dec 2024), showing stronger asset quality.

Even after a heavy one-off loan provision, Zenith maintained a return on average equity (ROAE) of 24.8%—a testament to efficiency and resilience.

Adaora’s Decisive Leadership

What stands out in this result season is not just the numbers but the leadership behind them.

Adaora Umeoji has shown that banking leadership in Nigeria can be bold, disciplined, and visionary all at once. Instead of chasing flashy profit headlines, her team took the harder route—“biting the bullet” with ₦760bn provisions to clean up the loan book and build a stronger foundation for the future.

This decision signals clarity of purpose: protect the balance sheet today, unlock greater growth tomorrow. In her own words:

> “Our H1 2025 performance reaffirms the strength and resilience of the Zenith brand. In the face of elevated provisioning, our total asset quality has recorded a marked improvement while our balance sheet remains strong, liquid and well positioned to capture emerging opportunities.”

Adaora’s leadership has also emphasized sustainability, gender parity, and digital transformation.

Under her watch, Zenith is not just chasing profits—it is positioning itself as a future-ready institution, committed to SMEs, women entrepreneurs, and environmentally responsible banking.

Why It Matters

For investors, these results are both reassuring and exciting. Interim dividends are higher, capital buffers are stronger, and the path to sustained growth in 2H 2025 is clear. Zenith’s fortress balance sheet, coupled with a bold leadership style, ensures that the bank remains a bellwether for the Nigerian and African financial system.

As the recapitalization race continues in Nigeria’s banking industry, Zenith already sits comfortably above the ₦500bn capital requirement, with shareholders’ funds at ₦4.57 trillion. This further reinforces its reputation as a safe haven for investors.

Conclusion

Zenith Bank’s H1 2025 results are not just a financial scorecard—they are a leadership case study. Under Adaora Umeoji’s stewardship, Zenith has shown that true leadership means facing challenges head-on, taking the tough decisions, and still delivering value to shareholders.

The numbers are impressive. The dividends are attractive. But the story behind it all—the story of bold, visionary leadership—is what will sustain Zenith Bank’s dominance in the years to come.

EducationFG Reintroduces Nigerian History As A Compulsory Subject In Schools by AnonPoet(op): 5:27am On Sep 18, 2025
The federal government has reintroduced Nigerian History as a compulsory subject in the basic education curriculum, a move officials say is aimed at strengthening national identity, unity, patriotism, and citizenship among young Nigerians.

A statement to this effect on Wednesday night by the Director of Press and Public Relations of the Federal Ministry of Education said, “Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, and Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Sai’d Ahmad, announced the policy on Wednesday, thanking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for driving the reform under the Renewed Hope Agenda.”

“They explained that, for the first time in decades, pupils will study Nigerian History continuously from Primary 1 to Junior Secondary School 3, JSS3,” the statement added.

Students in Senior Secondary School (SSS1–3) will now take Civic and Heritage Studies, a newly developed subject that combines Nigerian History with Civic Education.

Under the revised curriculum, pupils in Primary 1–6 will be taught Nigeria’s origins, heroes and heroines, cultural heritage, political development, geography, economy, religions, colonial rule, and post-independence governance. Junior Secondary students will cover topics such as early Nigerian civilisations, pre-colonial states, West African empires, European contacts, amalgamation, independence struggles, and democratic governance, blended with civic values to promote national unity.

The Ministers described the reform as a “priceless gift to the nation,” saying it would reconnect children with their roots while instilling pride and responsibility.

They added that embedding civic education in the curriculum would equip learners with the values needed to respect diversity, uphold institutions, and contribute positively to society.

“The Education Ministry has released the revised curriculum for Primary and Junior Secondary levels and said it will partner with stakeholders to provide resources, retrain teachers, and monitor implementation.

“The federal government urged parents, educators, and communities to support the initiative, which it described as a shared responsibility in raising disciplined and patriotic citizens,”
the statement further read.

SportsWho Will Win This Year's Champions League? by AnonPoet(op): 2:43pm On Sep 16, 2025
The Champions League is back, bringing midweek chaos, dramatic collapses, and managers calling group-stage games “must-win finals.”

PSG finally broke their bottling curse last season with a 5–0 demolition of Inter Milan, but let’s be honest: nobody saw that coming.

And to make it even funnier, they did it without Kylian Mbappé, the man who bolted for Madrid the summer before. Narrative gods, we salute you.

Premier League Hype: Contenders or Group-Stage Merchants?

Every year the Premier League sends its “best” to Europe, and every year at least one of them embarrasses themselves. Arsenal return with swagger but San Mamés on a Tuesday isn’t exactly the Emirates against Luton.

Chelsea are trying to fast-track their teenage Avengers project into something resembling a Champions League side. Manchester City already look like they’re stuck in February form, all the ball, none of the conviction.

Newcastle? Great story, but they’re about to find out there’s a big difference between Europe on Football Manager and the real thing.

Spain’s Two Faces: Heritage or Hype?

Real Madrid live for this competition. Mbappé is finally in white, Bellingham’s running midfield like a seasoned general, and the Bernabéu expects nothing less than another run deep into May.

But here’s the twist: Barcelona actually look scary again. Hansi Flick’s taken a talented but erratic squad and turned them into goal-scoring monsters, winning both La Liga and the Copa del Rey last season.

They were one defensive error away from reaching the final, and now they’ve got a young, fearless side that bangs in fours and fives for fun.

The question is whether this Barça team is ready to crash Europe’s biggest party… or if Madrid will just pull rank and remind everyone that they are THE Champions League team.

Dark Horses or Dead Horses?

Napoli aren’t lurking anymore, they’re leading the pack.

Fresh off a Scudetto under Antonio Conte, with De Bruyne and Højlund adding more power, they look like the one “outsider” nobody wants to face.

Similarly, Juventus, under Igor Tudor, can still grind out results. That 4-3 chaos against Inter proves it, but their attack is patchy and their defence cracks under pressure.

Tottenham, now with Thomas Frank, have firepower and fresh ideas, but history says Spurs in Europe usually means drama, not trophies.

European nights? Doing well in the Premier League doesn’t always translate in the Champions League knockout chaos.

Full Season Predictions

Favourite – PSG: Defending champions. Proved they can win without Mbappé, now the target on their back is massive.

Challenger – Liverpool: Slot-ball has started with energy and freshness, but Europe is a different beast than the Eredivisie.

Wildcard – Chelsea: Cole Palmer might just carry them to a semi-final before the defence inevitably crumbles.

Dark Horse – Napoli: One of those sides nobody wants to face. If they stay fit, they could drag someone into a tactical graveyard.

Our Pick – Barcelona: Flick has them scoring goals for fun, the kids are fearless, and they’re hungry to plant the blaugrana flag back on Europe’s peak.

SportsCOSGON President Raises Alarm Over Dwindling Gymnastics Fortune In Nigeria by AnonPoet(op): 6:41pm On Sep 12, 2025
The President of the Coalition of Supporter Groups of Nigeria (COSGON), Professor Kunle Awosika, has issued a scathing statement calling for immediate government’s intervention into what he described as the “systematic decay” within the The Nigerian Federation of Gymnastics (NFG) also called Gymnastics Federation of Nigeria.

“Athletes lack standard training facilities. Grassroots development has been abandoned, and Nigeria’s presence on the international gymnastics stage is almost nonexistent,” he stated.

Despite gymnastics being one of the most prestigious Olympic disciplines globally, Nigeria’s performance in the sport has stagnated, trailing behind even smaller African nations in competition and development.

Awosika urged the National Sports Commission (NSC), and the Nigeria Olympics Committee (NOC) to immediately investigate the Federation’s activities.

The Professor also called on the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG) to send an independent fact-finding delegation to assess the situation in Nigeria.

“The credibility and future of Nigerian gymnastics are at stake. The current trajectory can no longer be ignored. It is time for decisive, corrective action,” he said.

The Coalition warned that should the government fail to act, COSGON would mobilise civil society, athletes, and the wider sporting community for nationwide advocacy campaigns and potential legal actions.

BusinessCrude Oil Losses Drop To 16-year-low As NUPRC Releases Latest Report by AnonPoet(op): 10:08pm On Sep 11, 2025
Crude Oil Losses Drop To 16-Year-Low As NUPRC Releases Latest Report

.Daily Losses Contained At 9,600 Barrels

Nigeria’s upstream oil sector is witnessing a dramatic turnaround, with crude oil losses from theft and metering issues dropping to their lowest levels in nearly 16 years.

In July 2025, daily losses stood at 9,600 barrels per day (bpd), the lowest figure since 2009 when losses dropped to all-time low of 8,500 bpd.

This is based on trends of crude oil losses year-to-date July 2025, released by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).

This progress marks a major leap forward in the Commission's relentless drive to eliminate all forms of crude losses across Nigeria's oilfields and pipelines.

Between January and July 2025, crude oil losses were contained at 2.04 million barrels, averaging 9,600 barrels per day over the seven-month period. This marks a clear departure from the high-loss years that have long plagued the industry.

By comparison, the entire 2024 calendar year recorded 4.1 million barrels lost at a daily average of 11,300 barrels. Remarkably, in just the first seven months of 2025, losses were cut by 50.2%, with only 2.04 million barrels lost over the period.

The figures for the period ending July 2025 also represent a dramatic 94.57% drop in crude oil losses compared to the full year of 2021, when Nigeria lost a staggering 37.6 million barrels at a daily average of 102,900 barrels.

So far in 2025, only 2.04 million barrels have been lost, which is a reduction of 35.56 million barrels compared to the 37.6 million barrels lost in 2021, underscoring the scale of progress made in just four years.

Crude oil losses in 2021 were the highest recorded in nearly 23 years, making it the peak year between 2002 and July 2025.

Since the implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act in 2021, Nigeria has recorded steady progress in reducing crude oil losses. In 2021, losses stood at 37.6 million barrels, averaging 102,900 barrels per day. By 2022, this dropped to 20.9 million barrels at a daily average of 57,200 barrels.

The downward trend continued in 2023, with losses reduced to 4.3 million barrels at 11,900 barrels per day. Even more progress was made in 2024, as losses were further contained to 4.1 million barrels, averaging 11,300 barrels per day.

The Commission has adopted a balanced mix of kinetic and non-kinetic strategies in tackling oil losses. On the kinetic front, the Commission has continued to collaborate closely with security agencies, operators and communities.

On the non-kinetic front, NUPRC has implemented strategic regulatory measures to close systemic loopholes. One key initiative is the metering audit across upstream facilities to ensure accurate measurement of production and exports.

To further strengthen control, the NUPRC under the leadership of Engineer Gbenga Komolafe approved 37 new crude oil evacuation routes to combat oil theft.

SportsStakeholders Push For Reform As Leadership Dispute Rocks Gymnastics Federation by AnonPoet(op): 2:34pm On Sep 11, 2025
The Nigerian Federation of Gymnastics (NFG), also known as the Gymnastics Federation of Nigeria, is facing leadership challenges that have drawn growing attention from stakeholders in the sport.

For the past eight years, the federation has been under the leadership of President Prince Kelvin Erhunmunse, who was recently re-elected for a third term during elections held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, in Gwarinpa, Abuja.

Prince Kelvin described the election as peaceful and transparent, noting that delegates from 32 states, including the Federal Capital Territory, participated under the watch of representatives from the Nigeria Olympic Committee and other observers.

However, some stakeholders expressed concern over the absence of representatives from the National Sports Commission (NSC), who had earlier recommended a postponement of the polls.

The National Association for Physical, Health Education, Recreation, Sports, and Dance (NAPHER-SD) also raised concerns about the exclusion of key sports bodies such as NAPHER-SD, NAWIS, and paramilitary sports organizations from the process.

Hon. Gbenga Samson, speaking on behalf of NAPHER-SD, called for a review to ensure inclusivity in future exercises.

Several petitions have since been submitted to the NSC regarding the election process, while some stakeholders urged authorities to take steps to strengthen transparency, fairness, and inclusiveness in the federation’s leadership.

Amid these developments, many in the gymnastics community are calling for reforms that would prioritise athlete development, greater participation in international events, and improved structures for nurturing young talent.

With petitions under review, stakeholders emphasised that the future of gymnastics in Nigeria depends on collaborative efforts, professionalism, and a renewed focus on athletes’ welfare.

For now, the NFG remains at a critical point, with attention on the National Sports Commission and other relevant authorities to guide the next steps.

The Federal Government of Nigeria expresses deep concern over reports of an Israeli airstrike on 9 September 2025 in Doha, Qatar, reportedly targeting senior members of the Hamas leadership.

Nigeria underscores the primacy of respecting the sovereignty of all nations and adhering to international law, particularly in matters involving the use of force across borders. This development raises serious questions about regional stability and the prospects for ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

We extend our heartfelt sympathies to all those affected by the incident and reiterate our unwavering support for initiatives that promote de-escalation, dialogue, and durable peace.

Kuti Memorial Grammar School and St. Peter’s Primary School in Abeokuta. This marked the fourth edition of the Afolabi Moruf Afuape Education Support Initiative, a program designed to provide free summer coaching to students from less-privileged backgrounds.

Afuape, an economist and former Commissioner in Ogun State, stressed the significance of discipline and hard work in achieving success. "There's no escape route in life except hard work," he told the students, urging them to focus on their studies and avoid distractions that could derail their future. He emphasized that education remains the passport to success, drawing from his own experience as a former lecturer at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) Abeokuta.

The lawmaker explained that the initiative was not a political gimmick but a deliberate effort to support children who might not afford private summer classes. "Most parents may not have the opportunity to send their children to paid summer lessons. That is why we created this platform, and for four years now, we have continued to sustain it," he added.

*Impact and Reception*
The program has had a significant impact on the students, with many expressing gratitude for Afuape's commitment to education upliftment. "He created the time to personally teach at the summer class, describing it as deeply motivating," said Mr. Dotun Ajayi, who spoke with The Metrics.

The Executive Secretary of Abeokuta South Education Board, Mr. Olanrewaju Alli, commended Afuape for sustaining the summer class, which has benefited about 5,000 students since its inception. "We urge other well-meaning individuals to draw example from Hon. Afuape's investment in educational development of Abeokuta South Local Government," Alli added.

One of the Coordinators, Comrade Olaniyi Obanoye, expressed appreciation for the program, describing it as impactful and life-changing. As Afuape continues to invest in the educational development of Abeokuta South, his commitment serves as a shining example of the power of education to transform lives.

BusinessZenith Bank Eyes Ivory Coast, Cameroon Expansion After ₦350Billion Capital Raise by AnonPoet(op): 6:07am On Sep 05, 2025
Zenith Bank has revealed plans to expand into the Francophone African country, the Ivory Coast. This comes weeks after the lender raised its capital by N350.4 billion through a rights issue and public offer.

As part of its expansion plans, Zenith Bank is weighing the option of either acquiring an existing bank in the country or setting up a new operation. The move won’t end there as the lender is also eyeing a presence in Cameroon and fastening its plan in Kenya.

Dame (Dr.) Adaora Umeoji the GMD/CEO of Zenith Bank said, at a presentation at the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) last year, that Zenith Bank had recently obtained a license to open a Paris, France branch which would be leveraged for operations in Francophone Africa beginning with Cameroon and Côte d’Ivoire.

Zenith Bank’s head of strategy, Olukayode Akinbinu, explained that the bank will open in the Ivory Coast this year and then start planning for entry into Cameroon.

“Ivory Coast is likely to open this year, then Cameroon as soon as possible,” he said.

In its financial plan, Zenith Bank will use 40% of the N350.4 billion it raised in July to fund the project.
The lender raised the fund through a rights issue and public offer, pushing its share capital to N614.65 billion.
This was N114.65 billion above the N500 billion new required minimum capital requirement for a tier-1 lender by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The capital raise stems from a N290 billion rights issue and public offer raised last year. The stock offered 5,232,748,964 ordinary shares of 50 Kobo each at N36.00 per share, while the offer for subscription presented 2,767,251,036 ordinary shares of 50 Kobo each at N36.50 per share.

Expansion into these West African Countries represents Zenith Bank’s move to tap into their economy and diversify its resources for more financial gains.

The plans will see its presence in West Africa to six markets, having been established in Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone and the Gambia.

Aside from West Africa, Zenith Bank is present in South Africa.

Outside Africa, the bank has subsidiaries in the United Kingdom (UK), France and a representative office in China. The UK unit operates a branch in Dubai.

The lender will be aiming to tap into Ivory Coast economy, attributed as one of the fastest growing in the world with an average of 6.7% growth in the past five years. The economy has seen the presence of other Nigerian lenders such as EcoBank, Guaranty Trust Bank, Stanbic Bank and United Bank for Africa.

Inside Zenith Bank’s Kenya expansion plans

Two months ago, Zenith Bank said it was working to acquire a tier-two lender in the Kenyan market. This will mark the lender’s first entry into the East African region. The plan is also expected to come alive before the end of 2025.

While Kenya’s banking sector restructures its capital requirement for a stronghold, Zenith Bank is leveraging its firm financial records to secure a foothold in one of Africa’s fast-growing markets.

The deal comes amid Kenya’s overhaul of its capital requirements, with pressures on smaller banks to either raise new funds or consider mergers and acquisitions. The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) increased minimum core capital from $7.7 million (Ksh1 billion) to $24 million (Ksh3 billion) by the end of 2025, and plans to increase this to $77 million (Ksh10 billion) by 2029.

Zenith Bank looks to tap into this opportunity and secure a presence in Kenya.

Expanding global footprint

Zenith Bank is today present in Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, The Gambia, United Kingdom, China, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

All of Zenith’s subsidiaries are profitable and contributing to the growth of the Group, according to Umeoji.
For these plans, the lender’s financial records speak positively.

Zenith Bank recorded a double-digit growth of 86% in gross earnings, increasing from N2.13 trillion in 2023 to N3.97 trillion in 2024.

The banking giant also reported N29 trillion in assets and a market cap of N2.3 trillion at the end of 2024.
Its profit before tax rose by 67%, reaching N1.3tn in 2024, driven by a 138% increase in interest income.

PoliticsRoyal Castle Ceramics: CCN Condemns Release Of Undocumented Chinese Workers by AnonPoet(op): 6:47pm On Aug 29, 2025
A civil society group, the Coalition of Concerned Nigerians, CCN, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to investigate alleged irregularities and compromise within the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, following revelations surrounding the operations of a Chinese-owned firm, Nigeria Royal Castle Ceramics Company Limited, in Ogun State.

The group accused top-ranking NIS officials of collusion and negligence, alleging that the company employed foreign nationals without proper documentation for nearly four years, relying only on a Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, registration certificate rather than valid expatriate permits.

In a statement issued on Thursday, CCN spokesperson, Abiodun Akinremi, condemned the release of five Chinese nationals recently arrested at the ceramics company despite clear evidence of immigration violations. Those freed were identified as Zhang Damou (46), Qian Jin (48), Tang Pan (41), Lin Jianfeng (52), and Guo Zhengheng (40).

According to reports, the expatriates were working in Nigeria on visas and permits that did not authorize full-time employment.

Authorities confirmed that their activities breached multiple provisions of the Immigration Act 2015, including illegal residency, unauthorized employment, and violation of visa conditions.

Over 40 other workers at the firm are still said to be operating illegally.

The CCN alleged that their sudden release from custody was politically influenced, describing it as “a troubling pattern of high-level collusion and complicity within the NIS.”

“It is deeply disturbing and completely unacceptable for foreign nationals to live and work openly in Nigeria without proper documentation,” Akinremi said.

“This undermines our labor laws, weakens national security, and threatens opportunities for Nigerian workers.
“You can have the right policies, but if you implement them the wrong way, there will be problems,” she said.

The group also criticized what it called systemic weaknesses within immigration enforcement, warning that unchecked compromises could erode public trust and set dangerous precedents.

Akinremi further noted that while President Tinubu has taken bold steps against corruption in public institutions, “bad elements within the NIS” continue to sabotage reforms through deliberate inaction and compromise.

The CCN called on the Federal Government to launch an independent investigation into the alleged interference, punish culpable officials, and institute reforms to strengthen immigration oversight.

“We urge President Tinubu to ensure that those responsible are held accountable. Protecting Nigeria’s immigration system is not only about law and order, but about safeguarding jobs, securing national sovereignty, and restoring public confidence,” the statement read.

The coalition stressed that it will continue monitoring developments in the case and will intensify advocacy for transparency, accountability, and strict adherence to the rule of law.

EducationRe: Newglobe-Supported Public Primary Schools Achieve 53% Higher Learning Gains by AnonPoet(op): 6:49am On Aug 27, 2025
NewGlobe and NGF lead National dialogue on foundational learning with Nigerian States

NewGlobe, Africa’s foremost education technology partner, known for its success in large-scale transformational programs across the country, has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting states on their transformation journey at the basic education level.

This was disclosed by NewGlobe’s Vice President for Policy and Partnerships, Mrs Ifeyinwa Ugochukwu, at the recent 2025 State-Level Workshop for Foundation Learning and Out-of-School Children held in Abuja.

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum organised the event in partnership with the NewGlobe.

The workshop was convened against the backdrop of a deepening crisis in Nigeria’s basic education sector, where over 10 million children remain out of school, the highest figure globally, according to UNICEF, and three out of four cannot read and understand a simple passage by age 10, as reported by the World Bank.

Despite increasing enrolments, many pupils leave school without mastering foundational skills. Discussions at the event identified the root causes as systemic: an undervalued teaching workforce, fragmented policy execution, chronic underfunding, and a misplaced emphasis on infrastructure rather than learning outcomes.

NewGlobe’s Vice President for Policy and Partnerships, Ifeyinwa Ugochukwu, reinforced the urgency of the moment.

“If we do not act quickly and deliberately, we will be too late for millions of children,” she warned. Describing the situation as “a system-wide emergency,” she added, “The evidence is clear: with the right tools, training, and data, foundational learning outcomes can be transformed at scale. We’re supporting states to build resilient, future-ready education systems that deliver measurable results because Nigeria’s children deserve nothing less than a system that works for every learner.”

Presenting a model for transforming foundational education, NewGlobe highlighted its evidence-backed, data-driven, and technology-enabled solution as a trusted implementation partner to state governments. The model focuses on strengthening public education from within, equipping teachers and school leaders with real-time digital tools, structured lesson guides, continuous coaching, and performance dashboards that ensure instructional quality and accountability. NewGlobe’s holistic approach aligns with national curricula, promotes teacher confidence, and empowers states to drive measurable learning gains across thousands of classrooms.

State-led programmes in partnership with NewGlobe, including EKOEXCEL in Lagos, KwaraLEARN in Kwara, BayelsaPRIME in Bayelsa, Edo, and JigawaUNITE in Jigawa, have already delivered compelling outcomes. In Bayelsa, literacy improved by 20 percentage points in just nineteen weeks, and enrolment surged from 25,000 to over 40,000 pupils.

In Kwara, foundational literacy and numeracy deficiencies were halved in under two years, with over 60,000 additional pupils enrolled. Lagos, once lagging in education outcomes, now leads with one of the country’s lowest learning deprivation rates. Independent evaluations confirm that students in NewGlobe-supported schools achieve learning gains up to 53% higher than peers in conventional schools.

The Governor of Kwara State, His Excellency, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, in a speech delivered by NGF Education Advisor Leo The Great, stressed that improving access alone is not enough. “Access does not equal learning. Many children sit in classrooms but leave unable to read, write, or do basic arithmetic. The priority is not more schools, but ensuring every child is truly learning. In 2025, we should have daily visibility into every public school.”

Citing success in states like Kwara, Edo, Bayelsa, Lagos, and Jigawa, he added, “Structured pedagogy is working. In such schools, teacher feedback has increased by over 200 percent. That’s real behaviour change.”

Also, speaking at the event, UBEC Executive Secretary Aisha Garba called for unified action, stating, “We are here to work for one client, the Nigerian child.” She urged stakeholders to “align with our agenda, not run parallel systems,” adding that “access remains our biggest challenge,” and the intervention fund must “respond to real needs, not just check boxes for classrooms.”
“You can have the right policies, but if you implement them the wrong way, there will be problems,” she said.

“At NewGlobe, our mission is clear: to bridge foundational learning gaps and help build future-ready education systems that truly serve Nigeria’s children. We are proud of the progress achieved with our current state partners, but the need is national. We are ready to support more states committed to transforming learning outcomes, because the future of our young people depends on the quality of education they receive today,” added Ifeyinwa Ugochukwu.

NewGlobe is a trusted, evidence-backed partner for state-led foundational learning reforms in Nigeria, focused on strengthening public education systems from within. Its science- and data-driven approach combines advanced pedagogy, detailed lesson planning, and real-time data to track progress and guide strategy. By working closely with state governments and stakeholders, such as FGN and UBEC, NewGlobe ensures alignment with national priorities and supports scalable, sustainable reforms across the country.

As Nigeria grapples with the urgent challenge of learning poverty and an ever-growing number of out-of-school children, the workshop reaffirmed that systemic transformation is not only possible, it is already underway. With political will, NewGlobe’s data-driven solutions, and collaborative implementation, a new era of public education is within reach. The momentum built at this workshop signals a national commitment to ensure that every Nigerian child is not only in school but truly learning.

EducationNewglobe-Supported Public Primary Schools Achieve 53% Higher Learning Gains by AnonPoet(op): 6:46am On Aug 27, 2025
Primary schools run in partnership with NewGlobe and State governments achieve learning
gains up to 53% higher than traditional schools according to independent large-scale studies
led by Nobel Laureate Prof. Michael Kremer. The study which included over 10,000 students
from underserved African communities, found that in just two years, children using
NewGlobe’s learning system gained nearly an extra year of learning compared to their peers.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-w6PuHYGU0?si=zHofqIfDvr1ZKalw

The organisation’s model views education as a science grounded in thorough research and
real-world experience. It also combines technology, structured teacher training, and
real-time coaching to deliver measurable improvements across Nigeria’s basic education
system.

Evidence shows that NewGlobe has doubled the rate of learning in numeracy within eight
weeks. These improvements come from teaching methods based on solid research, flexible
instructional content, and instruction that fits children's current learning levels instead of
just their age or grade.

Working closely with state governments, NewGlobe makes sure that children in urban and
remote areas get the same quality of education. This prevents those born in socially or
economically disadvantaged regions from suffering because of their location.

“At the heart of what we do are two goals: to transform the quality of education and to
standardise it across every school,” Laide Abel, a Program Managing Director at NewGlobe
said during a recent interview on Arise News.

For children in higher primary grades who are unable to read or perform numeracy tasks at
their grade level, NewGlobe's method for how teachers teach rapidly introduces
foundational literacy and numeracy skills, starting from lower-grade levels, to help them
catch up before completing primary school.

The Organisation also presented its model for transforming foundational education at the
recently concluded State-Level Workshop for Foundation Learning convened by the Nigerian
Governors Forum in Abuja. At the event, NewGlobe’s Vice President for Policy and
Partnerships, Ifeyinwa Ugochukwu, called for urgent action to address the high rate of
out-of-school children in the country and “If we do not act quickly and deliberately, we will be too late for millions of children,” she warned.

Describing the situation as “a system-wide emergency,” she added, “The evidence is
clear: with the right tools, training, and data, foundational learning outcomes can be
transformed at scale. We’re supporting states to build resilient, future-ready education
systems that deliver measurable results because Nigeria’s children deserve nothing less than
a system that works for every learner.

PoliticsRoyal Castle Ceramics: NIS Orders Fresh Arrest Of Five Chinese Nationals by AnonPoet(op): 2:54pm On Aug 25, 2025
The Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, has ordered the re-arrest of five alleged illegal immigrants employed at Royal Castle Ceramics in Ogun State.

The directive followed public outrage over the sudden release of the Chinese nationals, who were initially arrested and slated for deportation under Section 44 of the Immigration Act. Reports indicated that their discharge was allegedly secured through unofficial lobbying by a retired senior NIS officer.

According to an internal memo, the service mandated the immediate re-apprehension of the five expatriates effective from the close of work on Friday, August 22, 2025.

The decision, the memo added, is aimed at calming public discontent while ensuring a thorough investigation and full documentation of their immigration status and employment activities in Nigeria.

The individuals affected are: Zhang Damou (46), Sales Manager; Qian Jin (48), Sales Manager on a Temporary Work Permit (TWP); Tang Pan (41), Interpreter on TWP; Lin Jianfeng (52), Business Manager on TWP; and Guo Zhengheng (40), Sales Manager on a Business Visa.

Authorities said the arrests were based on infractions of Sections 36, 38, 56, and 105 of the Immigration Act, 2015. While the initial operation was carried out in line with legal procedures, their abrupt release stirred criticism and raised questions about the integrity of immigration enforcement in the country.

The Comptroller General of Immigration, Kemi Nanna Nandap, is now under mounting pressure to address both the case and broader concerns over internal misconduct. Civil society groups and stakeholders are demanding stronger enforcement measures and transparency to restore public confidence in the Service.

In a related move, the Ministry of Interior announced an immediate review of all expatriate quotas and permits linked to Royal Castle Ceramics and other manufacturing firms, citing “widespread abuse of immigration privileges” in Nigeria’s industrial sector.

EducationMLSCN Conducts Resource Verification Visit To Maduka University by AnonPoet(op): 6:34am On Aug 23, 2025
The Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) on Monday conducted a resource verification visit to Maduka University, Ekwegbe-Nsukka, as part of its commitment to strengthening professional standards in Medical Laboratory Science.

The delegation, led by Professor Charles Onyenekwe, included Dr (Mrs) Helen Waribo, Mr Stanley Nkemakolam (Acting Head of the Department, Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria), and Mrs Regina Nnadozie (Assistant Chief, Department of Education) and were received by the Chancellor, Dr Samuel Maduka Onyishi; the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Ogbulogo; the Registrar, Mr John Omeje; key university officers; and lecturers from the Department of Medical Laboratory Science.

Welcoming the visitors, the Registrar, Mr Omeje, emphasised the growing relevance of Medical Laboratory Science in society, noting that the Council’s visit was a strong statement on the profession’s value and potential. He expressed optimism that the exercise would propel the department to greater heights.

In his address titled “The Force of Tradition in the Trajectory of Human Development”, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ogbulogo, highlighted the importance of culture and tradition in shaping societies, stating that societies that go far run on established traditions.

Ogbulogo explained that the word 'culture' comes from the Latin 'cultura', which originally referred to farming and cultivation. Over time, he noted, the meaning has expanded to describe the refinement of individuals through education and socialisation.

The Vice-Chancellor noted that culture has evolved to reflect the growth of human societies and their shared aspirations, stressing that as societies advance, they create new systems and concepts – such as religion, myth, money, government, and regulatory bodies – all seeking legitimacy and relevance.

Professor Ogbulogo expressed delight at receiving a team dedicated to advancing Medical Laboratory Science in Nigeria, assuring the visitors that Maduka University is committed to upholding the profession’s values and traditions.

In his remark, the Chancellor, Dr Samuel Maduka Onyishi, traced his engagement in education and medical sciences as part of a commitment he made to God. He expressed delight in the partnership developing between Maduka University and the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria, stressing that the university would always commit to quality service delivery at all levels.

Dr Onyishi hinted that the Maduka University Teaching Hospital in Nsukka would soon become operational and wished the Medical Laboratory Science team success in their assignment.

Responding, the team lead, Professor Onyenekwe, thanked the university for the warm reception and explained that the visit was aimed at examining the department and offering constructive guidance. He underscored the crucial role of laboratory scientists in supporting physicians’ diagnoses, warning that poorly trained scientists could mislead medical decisions. He emphasised the Council’s responsibility to ensure institutions uphold benchmarks that minimise errors in training and practice.

After inspecting the facilities of the Department of Medical Laboratory Science, Professor Onyenekwe commended the university for putting in place structures that meet the provisional minimum academic standards for training. He assured that the MLSCN would continue to partner with Maduka University to guarantee quality training for future medical laboratory scientists.

SportsMy Experience With Helabet by AnonPoet(op): 10:47am On Aug 19, 2025
My name is Ajimuda Timilehin. I live in Lagos and I work in sports betting. Because of my work, I always test different betting sites in Nigeria. I have used many platforms before. Some of them are okay, but many of them gave me problems.

The main problem I saw on many sites is withdrawal delay. You can win, but you will wait long before your money comes. Sometimes it takes hours or even days. Another problem is poor customer service. Some sites do not answer when you have a question or problem.
Because of this, I decided to try Helabet. My first test was simple. I placed a small bet on football. I won. Then I tried to withdraw. To my surprise, the money came very fast. No delay. That made me trust the site more.

I also looked at the football odds. I compared with other platforms I know. Helabet odds are higher in many games. It may look small, but if you bet often, that extra money can add up and make a difference.

I also tested live betting. The site worked well. No lag, no freeze. I could place my bet while the game was going on without any problem.

The website itself is easy to use. It is not confusing. Anyone can understand it. For me, that is very important.

So far, my experience with Helabet has been good. I know no site is perfect, but this one has been smooth for me. That is why I am sharing this here. If you are in Nigeria and you are looking for a betting site that pays fast and gives good odds, you can try Helabet.

SportsHelabet: Best Betting Site In Nigeria For Fast Payment by AnonPoet(op): 10:30am On Aug 19, 2025
My name is Yusuf Idowu. I live in Oyo state and I am writing about Helabet, because it has given me one of the best experiences so far, and I know many people are looking for a site that pays without delay.

The first thing I noticed with Helabet was the fast withdrawal. Anytime I won and requested for payment, the money came quickly. I did not have to wait long hours or days like on some other platforms. For me, this is the most important part of any betting site. If you cannot get your winnings on time, then the site is not useful. Helabet solved this problem for me.
Another thing I like about Helabet is the football odds. The odds are very competitive and in many games, they are higher than usual. It may look like a small increase, but when you bet often, that small difference can give you more money over time. This is something I really value.

I also tested live betting on Helabet during a weekend football match. It worked very well. There was no delay, no freezing, and the bets went through instantly. This made the whole experience smooth and stress-free.

The website itself is very easy to use. The design is simple, and it is not confusing. Even if you are a new bettor, you can understand it quickly. For me, this is another strong point because not everybody has experience with online betting.

From my own use, I believe Helabet is a reliable site in Nigeria. It pays fast, it has good odds, and it is easy to use. If you want stress-free betting, I recommend you try Helabet.

TravelManaging Passengers’ Disturbance: The Air Peace Crew Example - Fred Chukwuelobe by AnonPoet(op): 6:58pm On Aug 14, 2025
The nation’s and West Africa’s largest airlines, Air Peace Airlines, can thump its chest and claim the bragging rights for rising to great heights when managing passengers’ unruly behaviours and avoiding physical confrontation between its crew and angry passengers. The airline has faced multiple unruly passengers’ incidents but at no time did its crew take laws into their hands to deal with the situation. Instead, the crew responded to such incidents with utmost caution and professionalism, and in line with international aviation standards to which Nigeria is a signatory. I state this as a fact and unequivocally.

Let’s take a perfunctory look at these incidents to place in proper perspective Air Peace Airlines crew’s professionalism in dealing with the situations.

Before the incident involving Value Jet Airlines and popular musician known as Kwam 1, there had been multiple incidents involving passengers on Air Peace Airline flights both on ground and in the air, which neither escalated nor come to public attention because of the professional way the crew handled the matter.

The case of three passengers who were alleged to have drank three bottles of liquid suspected to be alcohol mid air on a London Gatwick - Lagos Air Peace flight on April 12, 2025 is the most serious. The passengers became intoxicated and threatened to storm the cockpit and force the plane down. They left their economy seats and forcefully took over three Business Class seats. Despite repeated appeals from the captain, the three continued to cause chaos, putting the lives of passengers, the crew, and the equipment in clear danger. The pilot was forced to radio security in Lagos informing them of the incident. The Air Peace crew handled the situation with utmost calmness and professionalism it deserves, preferring to report the incident to security agencies and the regulatory agency, leaving them to handle the irate passengers. There was no physical confrontation between the drunken passengers and Air Peace Airlines crew.

Although upon landing, the unruly and drunken passengers were left off the hook by the agencies with no consequences, the manner the captain of that particular flight and his crew handled the disturbance prevented the situation from escalating and snowballing into a wider problem reminiscent of the Value Jet and the Ibom Air cases.

Another incident worthy of note is that of the senator representing Edo North and former governor of Edo State, Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole. He physically stopped Air Peace Airlines staff at the MMA2 Ikeja from carrying out their legitimate duties because he was not allowed to board an aircraft that had departed. The senator came late after the check-in counter had closed, claimed he checked in online, but couldn’t produce a genuine boarding pass to that effect. He jumped on the conveyor belt, physically blocking the entrance to the airport, and prevented passengers from entering the terminal. While all these were happening, Air Peace staff on duty maintained their composure. They neither confronted the unruly passenger nor did they exchange words with him.

There have also been so many other cases of passengers blocking air peace flights in the manner of Kwam 1. In each instance, the pilots didn’t start the engines to prevent the jet engines sucking up the unruly passengers who stood in front of the aircraft.

There was also another case of a lady who blocked an aircraft’s door, insisting that it would not depart, and vowing that her lawyer husband would take air peace to court if anything happened to her. She was aggrieved her flight was delayed and took matters into her hands.

Yet, another incident involved a Malaysia returnee who stood up from his seat in the Economy Class and dashed to the Business Class the moment a flight took off from Lagos on the way to Chinua Achebe Airport, Umueri, Anambra. He refused all entreaties from the crew to return to his seat in the economy. This fellow could have been swept off his feet and possibly hit his head on the ground by the force of the departing jet. He fought the crew, calling the pursar “a prostitute” and later fought the civil defence officers called by the captain in the absence of police presence at Anambra airport. It took the intervention of the Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, before the culprit was arrested by a police team which raced down from Awka, the state capital on the instructions of the State Commissioner of Police. In all these, Air Peace Airlines crew maintained their composure and prevented any escalation of the situation.

Similar passengers’ disturbances had happened in some other Air Peace Airlines flights and the professional way the crew handled them prevented the escalation of the incidents. That was why the public didn’t know about them. The only thing that happened was that Air Peace subsequent operations on those dates were delayed and the company lost revenue.

It is incontrovertible that, going by the training Air Peace Airlines crew routinely receive, they would have handled the Ibom Air situation better. There’s no way the crew would have resorted to dragging the irate passenger down the stairs of the aircraft and having her dress torn in the process and exposing her nudity.

In all the cases involving Air Peace Airlines crew, the matter was promptly reported to the security agencies and to the regulatory authorities - the NCAA. Unfortunately, the culprits were known to have received little or no reprimand from the aviation authorities. Many people did not know such incidents occurred much more learn about the punishments meted out to those concerned because the Air Peace crew handled them professionally. Even in a more serious situation like the three passengers who consumed alcohol at 36,000 feet above sea level and threatened to bring down an aircraft inflight, and despite the potential danger posed by the incident, the crew maintained their composure.

Air Peace crew did not receive any commendations for professionally conducting themselves and handling the situations in a manner that avoided escalation and possibly causing an affray, but they deserve to.

The flying public may not have noticed the Air Peace professionalism in those regards, and it is necessary to point them out because if the two incidents of Value Jet and Ibom Air had involved Air Peace flights, social media would have been on fire, literally speaking, with calls renting the air for the cancellation of the airlines AOC license.

On the score of their handling of the incidents, preventing an escalation, which invariably would have resulted in negative publicity for the nations struggling aviation industry, Air Peace Airlines crew deserves commendations.

SportsBodo-bonny Road Nears 80% Completion – Julius Berger by AnonPoet(op): 5:30am On Aug 01, 2025
The Bodo-Bonny Road project is nearing 80 per cent completion, marking major progress on the 35.7km corridor being handled by Julius Berger Nigeria Plc.

In a statement on Wednesday, the company revealed that it had continued work on the road despite persistent torrential rainfall that has posed significant challenges to construction activities.

“Despite the challenge, the contractors remained undaunted as their workforce pranced on with determination and grit, hitting milestone progress along the 35.7km road.

“Against the backdrop of the rains, aspects of the work are affected; but work steadily goes on in the stretch of Bodo-Bonny Road,”
the statement read.

The Project Manager, Tim Nippert, while speaking at the project site between the Nanabie Bridge and Bonny Island, disclosed that 80 per cent of the work had been completed, including all the bridges, which he said were “substantially completed with only pavement joints pending.”

He added, “In terms of final asphalting, binder installation is up to 70 per cent completed.”
Nippert emphasised the team’s commitment to delivering the project on schedule despite environmental hurdles.

It is all about our ability to persevere and our passion to deliver on our set goals. With that, we can manage challenges as they come up.

“The ceaseless rain in the area remains a big challenge to the work. An extraordinary rainfall in July is not allowing the installation of the base course,”
he noted.

He noted that 5.2km of concrete pavement within Bonny Town had been completed, while stone pitching was ongoing.

An additional 5km of asphalt road was “80 per cent completed with asphalt binder,” he added, pending only the wearing course and slope protection.

Nippert clarified that the road remains restricted for construction use only.

The Bodo-Bonny Road is for Julius Berger Nigeria construction use only, for now, except in very important cases; and its release for public traffic will only be possible after completion,” he said.

The project’s Security Coordinator, Abraham Ikhenoba, confirmed that the rainy season had not deterred the workers.

“Even with the challenging terrains, every hand is on deck. It is in the character of the construction for which we have been known,” he said.

Also commenting, the Secretary of the King Perekule Palace, Amaopusenibo Festus Pepple, said the road was temporarily opened during the Diamond Jubilee celebration of the Amanyanabo of Bonny Kingdom in early June 2025.

According to him, the road was closed again on June 15 to allow work to resume.

The idea of opening the road was to facilitate easy access for friends and well-wishers of the monarch and the Bonny Kingdom to share in the joy of the celebration.

“But we are done with that now. So, effective Sunday, June 15, 2025, the road will be closed back for construction work to resume so that the company, Julius Berger, can meet up with agreed timelines for the road project,” he said.

PoliticsRibadu: Best Thing To Happen To National Security In 10 Years - Reno Omokri by AnonPoet(op): 12:11pm On Jul 31, 2025
Nuhu Ribadu Is The Best Things To Have Happened To Nigeria's National Security In Over a Decade

When was the last time you heard of a school abduction? Or a bombing of the Abuja-Kaduna railway or any other railroad in Nigeria? Have you seen the people of Southern Kaduna complaining? What about jailbreaks by terrorists freeing their colleagues?

All of these are things of the past.

Even in the Southeast, Monday sit-at-homes are gradually becoming a thing of the past, as over one hundred police stations shut down during the Buhari era have now been reopened.

The Niger Delta is no longer restive. Oil theft has been reduced to 2% or less. For the first time in almost thirty years, peace, progress, and prosperity are returning to Ogoniland as the Tinubu administration is building a new polytechnic in Ogoni while the cleanup is in progress.

The result is that our daily crude oil production is up from 1 million barrels per day to 1.7 million barrels per day, and for the first time in over a decade, Nigeria has met and then exceeded its OPEC quota.

No longer is the Presidential Guards Brigade being attacked by terrorists, and the Nigerian Defence Academy has not been violated as occurred under the last administration.

Additionally, under the Tinubu administration, more than fourteen notoriously murderous bandit leaders have been killed, including the following:

1. Kachalla Ali Kawaje
2. Kachalla Halilu Sububu
3. Kachalla Damina
4. Kachalla Dangote
5. Kachalla Jafaru
6. Kachalla Barume
7. Kachalla Shehu
8. Tsoho
9. Kachalla Yellow Mai Buhu
10. Yellow Sirajo
11. Kachalla Dan Muhammadu
12. Kachalla Makasko
13. Yellow Hassan
14. Boderi
15. Kachalla Dan Ba birki
16. Auta Dan Mai Jan Kai

Yes, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso complained about the state of the Abuja-Kano road, and that is being looked into. What Alhaji Kwankwaso did not say is that the road is unsafe, because it is not. It is secure.

This was not the case before. The Abuja-Kano road was once the national headquarters for roadside kidnapping. But the road is now tamed under the watchful eye of Malam Nuhu Ribadu as NSA. Any kidnapper who attempts anything on that route will meet their Maker the same day.

Because Nigeria is more secure, our economy is more assured. Our economy has been rebased, and our GDP has grown by $67 billion in just two years of President Tinubu, moving from ₦269.29 trillion to ₦372.8 trillion.

This is largely because loopholes in our economy, like that occasioned by Binance, which, according to the CBN, was responsible for $20 billion leaving our economy annually, have been professionally plugged.

The result is that the International Monetary Fund has upgraded Nigeria's economic growth forecast from 3.0% to 3.4% today, Tuesday, July 29, 2025. This administration has reduced Nigeria's debt from the $113.7 billion President Tinubu inherited from General Buhari to $97.1 billion today.

Fellow Nigerian citizens, if we can focus on just the facts and leave out emotions, we will see that the last two years have been a period of tremendous economic and social progress with Nigeria going from the largest importer of petroleum products in Africa in 2023 to being the biggest exporter of all petroleum products in West Africa, including PMS, AGO, aviation fuel and kerosine.

And by the time the tax reform bill kicks in next year, the Tinubu administration's economic and social reforms will unleash an unprecedented wave of progress from Kaura Namoda to Aguda.

And for this, we have President Tinubu to thank.
