congratulations to them |
vinderbilt: I think this doesn't fit the upcoming statusNot necessarily, many people don't know most of these women to a extent until recently especially Jocelyn, Damilola, & Chelsea that have only appeared in one + major film; also all these women have just started out or are starting to become noticed after a few years in the business as upcoming actresses and most of them are not already stars, they are African actresses that are starting to become stars but they are not completely yet, maybe the exception to a extent is Yvonne Okoro but not many know her outside Ghollywood, they just sort of remember her face but not so much her name(but that is slowly changing, since she is starting to get into Nollywood movies). People that would fit in the stars list are John Dumelo, Desmond Elliot, Genevieve, Omotola, Majid Michel, and etc. So the ladies in the list are still upcoming, it is just last year that 2 of the females in the list are starting to be known. All the ladies in the list except for Yvonne Okoro for the most part many didn't know their names. So I consider them upcoming actresses of the future that will be the next set of stars soon, most in the list haven't fully gained that stardom title as you put it yet. There are many actresses in Nollywood that have been acting for years and never fully gained the stardom or the "star" title, Anne Macaulay(2 face wife) was a upcoming actresses at one period of time playing supporting roles but not any more, her face is memerable to a extent but she is not a star, she is more popular(not equivalent to being a star though) for being with 2Face then her movies. I remember when I was young and watch Nollywood movies, Omotola was in movies, she just started out in Nollywood movies as a upcoming actress, nobody really knew her(maybe her face to a extent) and she wasn't fully a star yet but now that many years have passed she has gained that title. That is where these females are now, it is not long they have been in the business, they are starting to get noticed but are not household names to be considered full stars yet, but within 2-5 years at least four of these women I suspect will be that. |
Omotola |
speedyboi: I really love the sound of it! Omotola Jalade Ekeinde nd her pilot hubby debuts the nigerian edition of the united states' OK magazine.......its really a great achievement for Omotola and Nollywood as a whole....Omotola and genny are really doing great in the international realm......beautiful cover |

Fulaman198: Oh ok thanks for confirmation, I don't know then lol but we Fulani eat Fufu (eba) too :-DOh I didn't know interesting, lol ![]() |
Fulaman198: Are you sure Egusi is Yoruba? I thought it was Igbo because Igbo people have distinct way of making it, with bitter leaf. Do Yoruba use bitter leaf?Yes, they do |
For me it is: joloff rice with plantain with chicken or meat egusi stew with pounded yam fish stew with rice moi moi Yams with egg or stew; sometimes both |
So what are your top 5 favorite cuisines and your reasoning's behind it(optional though); you can include combo's but only with a rice or pounded yam dish and only two sides but one of the sides has to be either moi moi or plantain https://archives.citypaper.net/images/articles/2009/09/17/food-1.jpg https://blogs.houstonpress.com/eating/fufuplate.jpg https://farm5.static.flickr.com/4108/4831729545_6bed2b23c7.jpg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFC25YmNutU http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuisine_of_Nigeria |
SuyaEater: why is lagos celebrating black history ....these are things done by black americans and afro descendants....what will happen if one european country start celebrating white history....they will call them nazis!!!!You have a point the title of the festival doesn't connect to the celebration but I am suspecting they mean african history or Nigerian history not the Legite "Black history" that african american and black Caribbeans celebrate. They need to change the title to Nigerian history festival |
beautiful pictures |
"Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, is making his rounds in the press this spring. Forbes Africa recently unveiled it’s May cover featuring the Nigerian self made billionaire. In case you missed his feature in the LA Times, check it out here. The article talks about his rise to wealth as Africa’s top cement manufacturer and how he brought “respect to a nation known more for email scams than manufacturing." http://cultureshocknigerians.com/news/africas-richest-man-aliko-dangote-covers-forbes-africa/ Aliko Dangote https://cdn.bellanaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Aliko-Dangote-Forbes-Africa-May-Issue-on-BellaNaija.com_-458x600.jpg http://www.bellanaija.com/2012/05/07/africas-richest-man-aliko-dangote-covers-the-may-issue-of-forbes-africa/ |

leadz: If you think the move D'banj is making will create more opportunities for up and coming artist in Nigeria. It depends on how D'banjs career goes after this Record label(he is a representative of this label no matter what), and the biggest test is if his career stays strong among Black africans after his new label & If he is able to bridge the black african, specifically Nigerian demographic and the western world demographic world together to like his music, since his label is connected & Under Universal Music group, and his recent collabo with Kanye West. So far Americans don't know him, The UK knows him slightly now, and Black africans knows him 100%. The dilemma D'banj is in is that if he wants to appeal to the western world then his music will eventually become western, in such his way all his afrobeat musical roots will be gone which will cause him to lose his most important & number 1 demographic, Blacks africans of West Africa, Nigerian particularly. Which will in directly effect him in his record label and career. Femi Kuti is a singer and signed up with similar opportunities like D'banj and it didn't change his career or helped other Nigerian artist. We shall see though with what happens to D'banj. To me it depends on where D'banj's career leads, for that question to be answered. If his career flops after his now connection with Knaye then his record label may not be successful but if his career progresses farther then now regardless if he has a strong Western following or not then I feel it will create more opportunities for other upcoming Nigerian artist. It doesn't hurt to try though, I congratulate his efforts though, only God knows |

dasparrow: I really loved how she interpreted her role as Jennifer Adams in the movie Adams apples. People need to realize that these celebrities are just human beings too and have a life to live just like every other person. Fans should not expect these actors and actresses to be at their beck and call all the time, smiling, signing autographs and taking pictures. In fact, I don't envy celebrities at all because they are constantly criticized.True but I need to check out the Adams apples movies because I haven't seen the movie's |
yoji: Many subject matters in history like world war 1 and 2 have multiple movies made with respect to them so anybody unhappy wit d castin should simply get out his money and shoot his own version! Its not as if its d nigerian govt or UN that is fundin it. Let's stop this hypocrisy, I know many ibo girls that are fairer than thandie abi una neva enta zenith bank? Come to think of it isn't it y they are called actors/actresses?cosign, lol |
may her soul rest in peace |
Bukky Wright; Ireti is still pretty but she is big now when she first started in the yoruba film industry she was thin and beautiful but as her weight gained her beauty slowly dwindled a little. Funke was never a beauty from the beginning but she is a good actress and comedian |
"It is not really clear if Yvonne Okoro and Yvonne Indiscipline Nelson are still on good terms, since most of us don’t see them together like we use to some years back. In the quest to find out from Yvonne Okoro if indeed Yvonne Nelson has used any kind of bleaching remedy which has make her change in color, Yvonne Okoro confirmed to a fan on phone that Yvonne Nelson Bleaches. Since the chat was in a friendly note, we at NigeriaFilms.com are still deliberating on whether we should post the tape online or not … you can check out the pictures below to give your remark on it." http://nigeriafilms.com/news/16446/50/yvonne-okoro-confirms-that-yvonne-nelson-bleaches.html Yvonne Nelson & Yvonne Okoro https://www.myghanaradio.com/wp-content/gallery/artists/yvonne-nelson-and-yvonne-okoro.jpg |
