ChimaAdeoye:
Sometimes i wonder if contractors intentionally build unnecessarily huge structures just to increase the size of the contract.

Going by the size of that stream, such a mega structure with huge pillars are clearly unnecessary and will drastically increase the cost of the project. A solid box culvert is all that is required to bridge that stream if Nigeria were a normal society where people did the right things instead of what will make them milk the society unnecessarily.

I think its because of the terrain. The place is a low lying land, they needed several pillars across the low plane area.

NYSC › Re: NYSC: Anambra Corps Members Moved To Ebonyi, Imo Over Lack Of Facilities by ANSMEDIA: 5:38pm On Nov 13, 2018

We wish to state as follows:

1. That the information is false and targeted at misleading the general public.
2.That Anambra was not originally approved by the Commission to host the 2018 Batch C, stream II Corps members for reasons best known to it.

2. That Anambra in the time past hosted Corps members from Enugu state

Furthermore, the information available to us has it that the National Youth Service Corps Commandant approved only 25 states and FCT for the 2018 Batch C, stream II Orientation Courses of which Anambra is not among.

We implore ndi Anambra to ignore these enemies of the state as the government of Chief Willie Obiano is undeterred in delivering the Anambra of our dreams.

See the official memo from the office of the Corps Commandant.

Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to Gov. Willie Obiano.

I’m Still Speaker Of Anambra State House Of Assembly...Maduagwu

By Emeka Modilim (ABS Legislative Reporter)

The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Barrister Rita Maduagwu has debunked the news that she has been impeached by the House.

Speaking to journalists at a press briefing in her office on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, Barrister Maduagwu revealed that the purported impeachment did not follow due process as no notice of impeachment was served her. According to her, those who perpetrated the purported impeachment did not meet two third majority of the House as required by the constitution. She mainted that Anambra State House of Assembly has thirty lawmakers and fifteen members of the House did not endorse the purported impeachment.

She maintained that she is still the Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly.

Anambra Govt Directs Road Project Contractors To Go Back To Site

State Government has directed all contractors, handling road projects in the state, to go back to their different sites as the rains have subsided.

The Commissioner for Works, Engineer Marcel Ifejiofor, gave this directive at the end of a meeting with Contractors, Consultants, Engineers, Representatives and the management staff of the Ministry of Works in his office in Awka.
Engineer Ifejiofor noted that work slowed down on road construction because of the rainy season.

According to him, now that the rains are over, massive construction of roads would re-commence effectively.
The Commissioner emphasised that because of heavy rains and flooding that occurred this year, the contractors would have so much work to do.
He, however, urged them to put in the best to guarantee business dealings with the state, stressing that shoddy works would not be tolerated.

The Commissioner told the consultants and the engineers representing state government interests to be alive to their responsibilities to avoid lapses.
He added that henceforth, every design must follow an assessment template from the state road design committee.

How come there is no rebars or metal work before pouring of the concrete. This job, though well intentioned won’t last.

I think it will last because this is just the base they are laying. They first used sharp sand before concrete overlay. The iron bars will come when they start casting the sides. .
