EARNING IN NAIRA IS GOOD, BUT EARNING IN DOLLARS IS BETTER.

If you are in Nigeria and have seen the reality of things, you'll agree with me that unemployment rate is fast growing.

Venturing into entrepreneurship is what many have done and I see them thriving in their various businesses and earning good money, though amidst many challenges.

Sitting down to be expectant for employment is a waste of time and potentials.

If you have not realized this, then you have to consider it now. Give it a thought.� Even as a civil servant, give a thought to investment.

...but this is not what I want to talk about.

I want to talk about THE CURRENCY.

The question we should be asking ourselves now, is not really about whether we've started a business but WHICH CURRENCY we are earning in.

If you've not asked yourself this question, then this is the time. Again, give it a thought.�

In the history of our country, we've seen where our Naira was equal to 0.6USD (#1 = $0.6). Today, you need over #545 to get $1

So, if you are saving one naira every day, it'll take a year and some months for you to save a dollar equivalent.

You'll also agree with me that #10,000 cannot buy today, what it bought for you yesterday. If you bought anything recently, you'll attest to this.

Inasmuch as earning in naira is good, earning in a more STRONGER CURRENCY is BETTER.

Again, give a thought to this. You need to start earning in a stronger currency. It's very important.

My State Akwa Ibom is a civil service state.There was lockdown nobody go work so how come sit at home become unemployment.But truth is most of the youth are into politics if you know what I mean.

In a recent survey conducted by the National Bureau of Statistics, it was revealed that Imo State has an unemployment rate of 48.7% as at the second quarter of the year 2020, which is by far the highest when compared to any other state in the country. 75.1% of the total employable people in Imo State are either underemployed or unemployed.

Next on the list is Akwa Ibom State from the South-South region with an unemployment rate of 1.14 million people. The state’s underemployed population is about 551k people while the unemployment and underemployment rates combined is 66.9%.

More-so, Anambra State, a sister state to Imo state located in the South-Eastern part of Nigeria is the Best on the Chart. With the least unemployment in the country with 13.1% unemployment rate. About 1.9 million people in Anambra State are either fully employed (1.57 million) or under-employed (384k) in the state.

However, the National average for the unemployment rate pecks at 27.1%, 21.7 million Nigerians are unemployed.

The data revealed that about 6.8 million people make up the labour force population in Lagos State out of which 3.99 million people are fully employed and another 1.5 million people are underemployed.

In terms concentration of unemployed people, Rivers State is WORSE with a whopping 1.7 million JOBLESS people in the state. River State has a working population of 3.9 million.

Rivers State unemployment rate is 43.7 and ranks third as the worst.

The Federal Executive Council on Wednesday July 22, 2020 approved the establishment of the Nigerian Youth Investment Fund, (NYIF), dedicated to investing in the innovative Ideas, skills, talents and enterprise of the Nigerian Youth and aimed at turning them into Entrepreneurs, wealth creators and employers of labour contributing to national development.

The ministry of youths and sports, via her twitter handle revealed via series of tweets the steps and procedures that must be duly observed in other to access this Funds,

1- The National Youth Investment Fund is dedicated to investing in the innovative ideas, skills, talents and enterprise of the Nigerian Youth and aimed at turning them into Entrepreneurs, wealth creators and employers of labour contributing to national development.

2.A minimum of N25 billion each year in the next 3 years, totaling N75Billion will be required to ring fence the National Youth Investment fund. For the remaining part of 2020 an initial sum of N12.5 billion will be needed to kick start the NYIF. Successive governments will keep the National Youth Investment fund alive.

3.The Nigerian Youth Investment Fund (#NYIF) a ringfenced funding that will strictly cater to the investment needs of persons between the ages of 18 and 35 years old.

4.#NYIF joins the slew of youth focused programs already in place by the Muhammadu Buhari led Federal Government as part of a National Plan to combat youth unemployment and drive innovation, fuel entrepreneurship as well as support youth SMEs.

5.#NYIF provides a single window of Investment Fund for the youth thereby creating a common bucket for all Nigerian youth to access Government support. Providing a less cumbersome access to credit and finance for the average Nigerian youth with an approved work plan or business idea will help lift thousands of the youth out of poverty and birth a whole generation of entrepreneurs.

6.The fund (#NYIF) aims to reach 500,000 youth annually between 2020 and 2023. Each fund approval will range from N250, 000 to N50, 000,000, with a spread across group applications, individual applications, working capital loans set at 1 year and term loans set at 3 years with single digit interest rate of 5%.

7. #NYIF Disbursement will be through various channels, which will include Micro Credit Organizations across the country under the Central Bank of Nigeria supported by BOI, Fintech Organizations and Venture Capital Organizations, registered with the CBN.

8.The Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning (MFBNP) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) will provide the financing to kick-start the Nigeria Youth Investment Fund (#NYIF).

9.The Ministry of Youth and Sports Development handle the processes for setting up the fund by inaugurating a Board of Trustees Committee under the leadership of the Minister for Youth and Sports Development and possibly work on legislation of the (#NYIF).

10.Youth seeking to benefit from #NYIF must have a fundable business idea, registered business, be a citizen of Nigeria, present recognized means of identification and guarantors.

Edet Okon Asim, Special Adviser on Biodiversity to Governor Benedict Ayade of Cross River State, is dead.

Asim died on Tuesday, July 22, 2019, after he slumped and died in his car at Eta Agbor in Calabar.

Two years ago, he was arrested for raping a 15-year-old girl in the state many times.

It was gathered that Asim allegedly forced the girl to abort three pregnancies. Her uterus reportedly got damaged while carrying out a third abortion.

A report by CrossRiverWatch also revealed that the girl's mother was aware and consented to the illegal relationship between Asim and her daughter because of monetary benefits she was getting from Asim.

Although the then-Attorney General of the State, Mr Joe Abang, okayed the trial of Asim and two other suspects, they were never arraigned in any court in the state.

"I have since approved the trial of Edet Okon Asim and two of the other suspects.

"Our resolve to ascribe probative value to the allegations of the victim that the 1st and 4th suspects sexually molested her and got her pregnant on different occasions is primarily premised on the fact that this is the statement of a witness who is narrating first hand what happened to her.

"We are convinced that the victim could not have singled out the suspects for these serious allegations, especially considering the special relationship she had with the first suspect. She is, in our opinion, a witness of truth," Abang said in 2019.

It was gathered that Asim, with the backing of Governor Ayade, successfully buried the case.

Ayade reappointed Asim in January 2020 as a Special Adviser on Forestry & Biodiversity.
