Good day Gurus in the house. Please I need clarification on a little issue.

I am trying to apply for a tourist visa for my wife. It will be her first time. Is it okay if I do the 2 years visa or I should stick to the 6months visa. Someone had told me for first timers they wont issue more than 6 months hence my decision to confirm this here.

Appreciate your responses.

Story.

Marry a virgin and see your children doing well at school because their mother is a pure woman.

Marry a none virgin and see how poor your children will be because their mother is contaminated with different evil spirits which will result in their failure not only in academics but in their entire lives.

Very true.

There are a lot of opportunities here in Nigeria. This land is blessed.

Politics / Re: Falana: It Is A Shame Dangote Could Build Refinery But FG Couldn't by AnthonyAnderson: 6:04am On Mar 16, 2021
Is it really the Federal Government's fault that the refineries are not working or the fault of we Nigerians?

Sometimes people just say rubbish to trend.

Despite the huge billions pumped into TAM for these refineries yet nothing comes out because we Nigerians as a people are never serious once it is government property. Government property is always an avenue to loot with nothing to worry about.

All Dangote's businesses are managed by non Nigerians....That's the only way to ensure big businesses get going. This current administration has decided to do something different to put an end to all the refineries issues for decades and instead of getting the support Falana decides to propagate lies.

Let us be frank with ourselves, if people like Martin Luther King and Malcom X had not made sacrifices and do what had to be done. Would blacks be happily going to the abroad?

All Nigerians do is complain, complain and complain. Like we are not inherently part of the problem.

There are government duties, I agree... but there are also duties for the citizens. The citizens have failed like the government they complain about.

Very brilliant.

Ordinary street protests against govt policy you wil see them chicken out. They always love to run down the country at the slightest opportunity. It is a thing of pride.

During elections they wont even vote but tell you who will win and lose hence they do not need to come out to vote....

Sir, I did factor it in. Like I mentioned to one of my friend who raised same objection. 30M will still be a lot of money even in 30 years time. It may not just have the same value as we have not.

Don't also forget the amount we are talking about here just 10k leading to 30m and as to it being invested, we already mentioned 10% per annum.
Don't forget as time go on, even the 10k will look too small and the person may decide to increase it if their condition of living improves.
Even business people can decide to also do somethng like this on the side as a retirement plan.

The right question will be how much value did 10,000 naira hold 30 years ago(1990) and how much value does it hold now. When you figure this out then you would know if you are right or wrong.

Exactly.

When the money must have lost value in 20 years. N110,000 of the year 2000 doesn't have the same value with N110,000 of 2020

Worth maybe half of that value now. In 2000 a self-contained at school was 150k, today it is 300k.

With your good recommendations on real estate/rental property one can only imagine what access to part of these funds invested in real estate today will worth in 10-20 years from now..... Instead of the peanuts that gets added yearly.

Government won't allow that, we don't have a social insurance scheme in Nigeria.

The amendment should be for financially sophisticated employees.
- Very true. I just fear the amount being held back will loose so much value when due knowing what we now know.

There is a whole lot of difference between what you earned and your Networth.

After working for 20 years it is possible for someone who earned an average of N10 millon per annum for 20 years to have a higher Networth than another person who earned an average of N20 millon per annum - Very True

Besides I doubt if the number of the workforce in the petroleum sector is up to 20,000. It is about 1% of the worker force that is 200 that can get to the top management level.

From the current annual report of MTN Nigeria, it is just 4 top management executives that earned over N100 million per annum

Of course I am talking of networth - 100m/pa is referenced as at today.

A lot of these people have worked over 20years investing as the years go by. Also remember these companies have cooperatve clubs that make investing easy and risk free. When you profile those that have worked for more than 20 years and retired and those still in the system you get a very high number. Majority of these lots own assets in prime estates that have over time increased their networth.

For example, most of the properties around Chevron is owned by Chevron cooperative with retired and current staff owning massive assets in these properties. You can estimate the worth of this..Same with cooperatives of other companies.

There a lot of independent oil companies paying higher than IOCs in Nigeria and in operation more than 10yrs now. Eland, Seplat, even Afren before crisis.

i think is even less...

Much more than 10,000. The oil industry for example...How many NIgerians work there currently/retired.. A lot of management staff are on more than N100m annual pay excluding bonuses.

The Telecoms indutry...Current/Retired...Same jumbo bonuses....

Not even mentioned the political class.

Far more than 10,000 in my opinion.

Very recent, about 2019.

I want to give you an assignment, can you list 2000 Nigerians which you think will have a minimum of N10 billion Networth, don't include there over priced real estate in your calculations.

I meant the 2% statistics....Is this as recent as 2019?

Less than 100,000 Nigerians have N10 billion. That is less than 0.05% of the population. A report from CBN has it that less than 2% of Nigerian bank customers have 500k in their accounts

Please how recent is this?

[quote author=rationalhuman post=89527032]Yes, A Phone you will get here in 120000 Naira you will get in India in less then 70000 naira (Equivalent)
The same medicine you will get here in 8000 Naira you will get in less then 1500 Naira,
Same Motorcycle (Bajaj Pulser fro example) you will get here in 800k you will get in India in less then 350k

Thus A person in India getting 1000 USD can enjoy the lifestyle what we in this continent can not even dream in 4000 USD.

Thats why they are taking over jobs globally especially in the Middle East. The indians will always work for peanuts.....Same way they pay employees
very low in inidan run companies.

The wife equally has her own assets. Why should he will his two houses to her and she remarries, then the new husband will manipulate her to dispose of the house which is always the case.

Since the man willed the property to his two sons, it still belongs to their mother indirectly.

I will never inherit my wife's properties, it goes to her children.

Her properties and Investments will be held in a trust and managed by a reputable Trustees firm eg United Capital Trustees on behalf of the children

Like I said.... a good wife that has been supportive and I also said part of the will not all.

Not all men will manipulate her to dispose her inherited properties. We can start by teaching our wives how not to fall victim to this if it happens. I know some women that have remarried with properties inherited from their late husbands but still own same properties till date and didnt fall into any manipulation. FACT. If the men tried to manipulate I wont know but what I know is that 15years /20 years since second marriage they are doing stronger than before riding on the good fortunes left for them by their late spouse.

One of such women....Has two filling stations the husband willed to her....Then it was Unipetrol. She sponsored all her children abroad. Remarried 7 years after her husband passed on. Her new husband is also rich and humble. Her late husband was building their home when he died. The new one helped her to complete it and they moved in together.

They both run their separate businesses. This is just one of 11 similar cases I know. I honestly understand your concerns but truth is a lot of good exists out there.

Very good insight

A man died at the age of 52, with two houses in Lagos.

He willed the two houses to the two sons, in the Will he said the house must not be sold in the life time of their mother and their mother is entitled to 30% of the rental income from the two houses. The rental income will continue for life to his wife unless the woman remarries.

Men are learning fast.

A woman that has been good and supportive deserves a part of the will even if she chooses to remarry. She definetly would have made sacrificies for the man to acquire such properties by way of delayed gratification... etc. I would never put such clauses. Let us not encourage such acts.

I love my wife and even if she chooses to remarry after I am gone I will only wish for her a happy life with the new man and not take away from her what she had also contributed by way of delayed gratifcation etc. A good wife will honour you even in death.

A lot of men remarry when they lose their wives (inheriting their wives possessions without a will) so why should it be different for women.....
