Regardless of any remorse he now has (or doesn't have) Nnamdi Kanu will have to go into court, change his plea to guilty, and just before sentencing he will be afforded the opportunity to speak his mind. If he remains defiant, sentence will be harsh, if on the other hand he expresses remorse, then the court might take that into consideration.

Some days ago reputable newsmedia like the punch newspaper came out with kanu's apology stories, it was what anti-Biafrans wanted to hear, but the story was later deflated by other reputable media like Thisday and Vanguard with kanu's lawyer brother and father denying that no such apology was made, much to the chagrin of the anti-Biafrans who were already throwing victory parties over kanu's apology.

Biafrans claim that DSS desperately want to create an apology (where there is none) and by a extention a moral victory to delegitimize and compromise the Biafra movement and also make kanu look like an unprincipled wimp.

Recent development from sahara reporters shows some handwritten letters allegedly written by kanu as an apology to Buhari and Nigeria but skeptics who have followed DSS desperation believe that;

1.) Anybody in the DSS can write a letter with a letterhead paper, sign and send to media houses as a 'proof' of kanu's compromise. Even frivolous confessions and submission can be extracted under duress by DSS.

2.) If they really want skeptics to believe that kanu apologized, they should call a press conference and get Kanu to apologize PUBLICLY as they did in Jonathan's aide (Gordon obua) case to debunk his purported death in dss custody. This will deliver the much needed blow to the morale of IPOB and other pro-Biafrans, it will also make any future agitation for Biafra baseless.
