Programming / Re: How Do You Market Your Self As A Developer by aonikoyi: 11:02pm On Jun 30, 2010
Mr. Poly_math,

Got a few questions for you.

1. When you say you are a web developer, what exactly
do you mean. For instance. A web developer is not
what it meant about 7 years ago. Pretty much anyone
can throw up a site in a dime.

Let me clarify. Is your expertise in PHP-BB, Joomla, Wordpress
Drupal, Mambo, Flash

2. Do you have a Portfolio?

3. Do you have a website?

By knowing and doing these 3 things would be good start.
Its sort of required if you ask me.

If you need for correspondance, please feel free to keep this thread
alive or PM me.
Business / Computer Training - How Do I Increase Business by aonikoyi: 2:02am On Jun 21, 2010
@aonikoyi ,
I offer diploma courses in Computer operations ie Computer appreciation and Windows,
Microsoft office programs
Corel draw & advanced graphic designs,
Not sure why my reply didnt show so I decided to create another Thread

i also offer Computer Maintenance/ Engineering
AutoCAD (2D & 3D)
Peach tree accounting and sage pastel training.

i want to know how i can increase my student's drive, i use Flat screen monitors with p4 system brand new.

, Corel Draw is not an advanced graphic Tool. Photoshop is.
Photoshop is the standard. So Ive READ a little in this post
about advice. Well I dont agree people would do business
with you because of price. Sell yourself and when people begin
to trust you, the crowd will come.

Let me be more elaborate,

Why would I want to do business with you?
What makes you special. In other words if
there was another computer
school 10 miles down the road that offered
the same price, same software courses and had the same
hardware. what would be your own USP ie unique
selling proposition? This is the first thing you need to
consider, what makes doing business with you so different.
What are they getting from you that they
are not getting from some one else.

i also offer Computer Maintenance/ Engineering
AutoCAD (2D & 3D)
Peach tree accounting and sage pastel training.

, It takes a while to learn autocad.
I don't think you should be offering certificates. unless you
are pretty good at autocad and thats all you do, but Im
giving you a US perspective.

I will offer another suggestion here ,

Offer discount or free seminars.
Here is a way you can do it.
Think of a project that you could work on.
For example, let say you were doing this Advanced Graphic
Class. I good example would be to work on a Poster
for and Advert, Maybe a DVD or Movie VCD
cover. Work on this project yourself and make it
look real good. Then Offer a 1hr Seminar for not free but
for a nominal fee. If I were to do this in the US it
would be for $10 to 20 bucks. Just cover you costs
and time.
Like Gen fee your time. Or if you can offer it for free
(more on that later)

So at your seminar you would need an overhead projector
and you would have these people not on the computers
but sitting down watching you work. You will show them
the final product first. this is the shock factor, maybe you
have created a dvd cover art. Pass the DVD around, let them
touch and feel it. Then Show them about 20% of
how to do it. Well since you don't have enough time,
when they enroll for you course, you can teach them
to create such projects on their own.

As the prospects arrive and during the seminar, get
their names, address phone number and email. then work
your list.
What I mean by work your list is that you could text message
these prospects later on an thank them for attending you seminar.
And since they attended you would give them a date when the
real class starts and offer a promotion. Like maybe 20% discount.
maybe is they sign up for 2 courses, get the 3rd course for free.
you can freak it however you want. But you have to offer valuable
content.

This is just 1 idea, I have 100 more ,

Here is another question. Are you leveraging your hidden assets?
I will give you one of your assets. your past clients. How many of
you past clients enroll in a course with you again? what percentage?
are you tracking your past customers, can you contact them again and again?
Do you have a referral system in place? Do you have up-sell products and
services? Everything in Business has to be measurable. if you cant
measure it, you don't know how effective it is,

Thanks

Im curious, Got some Questions for you ,

1. What sort of computer classes do you offer
2. Are these classes in demand? What I mean is that if I took one of your computer classes
could I get a gig, job, assignment etc,
3. How long does each class take

Lets see if I can help you thru this
