The reason NLNG and British council committee gave 4 months, I guess is to allow one take IELTS and secure admission with their select universities. Anything short of this amounts to disqualification and not being shortlisted. Thank you
Well said!!
I couldn't help but ask you one question tho!
When exactly did u become a permanent staff of NLNG and a contract worker for the british council?

About the IELTS stuff. Sounds true!

If they don't want us to have it already, why would they make inputing your score COMPULSORY as part of the application process?

Twasn't by mere deduction homie. the 6.5 IELTS stuff has been an existing standard like the 2:1 stuff. Also, in the past, they invited one for both the IELTS test and interview. Perhaps, this time, they want applicants to settle the IELTS on their own before applying. That too reduces the number of applications they'd get.
Perhapshuh

Dnt get me wrong, I am not disputing the minimum score of 6.5.. na!!

I jus doubt they want us to settle the IELTS on our own!!! You only tot that way simply because of the lenghty time frame ryt??
Well, that is how the time frame has always been!!... So huh

You sounded authoritative!!!
Like u a 100% sure or somethang!!

nevergiveup1:
Just a quick note here. The advert for NLNG postgrad scholarship came out since February, 2016 and it closes today June, 2016. That huge length of 4 months is simply to allow applicants to take English tests (IELTS Academic, TOEFL, etc.) which takes only 1 - 2 months to figure out. If you don's score average of 6.5 in IELTS Academic, forget the scholarship. If you scored 8.0 in IELTS Academic, it's not a guarantee also.
And u got this information how? By mere deduction?

In the past batches, they shortlist candidates, invite them for interview and IELTS!!! I stand corrected tho!

PART 5 continuation

As today was our swearing-in, the governor of Adamawa state was going to be present. We left to the parade ground by 10:15am. We formed a line in our various platoons and someone(cant remember who he was) came and apologized on behalf of the governor's office that the the governor would be running late. And We should wait on the parade ground a while.(Ahn ahn! Why we no fit go wait for our rooms ni? undecided Mstchww). 10:15 turned to 11:15 which also turned to 12:15. Two hours of hanging around. Some sitting while some standing. I sat on a brick stone, slept briefly twice and woke again, yet no governor. angry My ass was burning like hell. cry Which kain naija governor be this wey no dey keep to time. I was hungry and sleepy. Two dangerous combinations. Some tried leaving the parade ground with excuses like peeing, being thirsty, etc. Story for the ancestors!!! Only a few very lucky ones were allowed to pass. But at some point those selling pure water, drinks, snacks and the rest were allowed to come sell to us.By 1pm now, i already looked at my watch and tried coming up with a lie. wink Yes! Perharps if i told a soldier that i had to take my drugs by 1pm and it was in my room he would let me pass. As i was trying to perfect the lie, i looked up in the sky and there, a private jet passed over our heads heading for the airport close to the camp(first time i ever saw one so up close). Well no need lying seeing as the governor has arrived. Minutes passed and the governor never reach the parade ground. Kai menini!!! 2pm and we were asked to form our usual line. You wouldnt believe that the governor no even com sef. angry angry angry A representative was sent. So we basically spent hours waiting for a representive. If na d governor com dey show nko, na days we for wait. undecided
Well, we did the routine we had pracitced for the past two days, was addressed by the representative and then we swore in. By 3pm, the whole stuff had ended. We were allowed to leave but had to return by 5pm(Not again!!! cry ). Lunch was beans and garri so i just went to mammy market and ate jollof and fried rice, coleslaw and meat for #350. Chai! Went to my room to rest but it didnt last long. It was 5pm. I just jejely walked there myself cos i didnt have the strength to be pursued. The weather was cold. Seemed like it was about to rain(well....maybe it was a blessing). And it was. Thirty five minutes later we were dismissed cos it started to drizzle. cheesy For my mind i was like TGIR(Thank God it's raining grin ). We retired to our rooms, i took off my shoes and i just went straight into a deep sleep. The weather was so lovely. Cool and a lil bit dark.
I woke up to a very mouth watering aroma. Looked around and saw one of my roomies eating rice and stew. Abeg na camp food be that? She said 'yes, i woke you up but you didnt answer'. Hmmmm i must have been sleeping like a log of wood. It was still raining so i took my umbrella(yes! I brought an umbrella. I always come prepared smiley ) and went to the dining just to meet the longest queue ever. Shuu!!! shocked Because of rice and stew? One of my roomies and platoon member was in the middle so i just begged her instead, collected my food and it was really delicious. Really! Then i had my bath, cleaned my shoes and laid on my bed gisting you guys. Then this elderly woman just came and wants us to come outside so she came address us. Story!!! Im still typing on my phone cos i love you guys. kiss wink cheesy Goodnight.
Sibre orientation camp? its been a year already shocked?? how time flies!! cheesy

I think the mistake you made which ive been making is goin for interviews without being adequately prepared forgetting that most of dis company wont let you apply again until after 2years.
So take your time to adequately prepare for you test especially online test.

You sound too cocky and overconfident.

That may be your undoing especially @oral interviews and maybe it reflects on ur CV, cover letter & mails.

And it may also be the reason you don't proofread your compositions.

I believe you good, but being ready / suitable is a different thing all together...
I appreciate your concern ; please can u further elaborate on the overconfident thingy, i dont seem to understand!!

Simple, you're not getting the invites because you're not desperate, carrying placards is an act of desperation, and a desperate man, is a dangerous man. That's why our FG always respond to people who are desperate, just to prevent any cause of harm and danger.
Thanks but no thanks;
I'l rather consider other opinions on this thread!!

Improve upon my knowledge and skills, that way i'l be more valuable not more desperate

I should totally finish my article on "My experience applying for jobs in Nigeria". I'm convinced a lot of peeps will learn from it.

Dear OP, I'm right about the same age as you and funny enough I also read engineering. Our stories may be similar, but one of the difference is that unlike you, I picked up my first "full-time" job some 2 years ago.

I was so ahead of myself that I started applying for jobs right from school.

I finished my final B.Tech exams May 2014 and I have right from then started my Hustle towards professional bliss. As I fact, my first professional engagement didn't let me finish my final year project.

What am I trying to say? As a graduate you need to have what is "working for you". In your case, its not your age. Or grade. I'm sorry sad sad. The average graduating age of our private universities is what? Thousands of first class gradates are out there, still looking.

You need an edge! In your case I'll advice you go for your CCNA, not with some mushroom training centre. If you want to pursue a certification, do it the professional way!

Add some job experience too. Send out request to volunteer to the country's top firm. Pay them a visit with you hard cover CV if you have to.

Take up some of these writing jobs online, they look good on your CV. Google top Technology blogs (who says they save to be Nigerian) and request to write for them for free.

Looking for a Job is like smiling for the camera. You want to do everything that makes your CV come out good. Better than the other candidate.
Thank you, I have started doing some work on the online writing thingy! !

God help us all...if you are still below 24yrs and your folks hold small bar, i suggest you go do MSC or MBA...na wetin dey get work now be that. Coys can be so biased these days...truth is everyone who gets appropriate training upon employment can get the work done...they know this so they rather employ pple with plenty qualification for reasons best known to them.

Dont waste your time writing stories that touch...add more trophies to your CV as soon as possible (who BSC epp??) or go for fasting and prayer.

Was sitting in a bar with this dull guy then my friend told be he works in Nestle and am like "really?? this dull guy??" Then my friend replied "he has MBA in the UK and an ACCA CERT" i was like "oh!" Mind you I applied at Nestle a zillion times, not one single call but this dull guy......
Thanks for the heads-up bro, i am working towards that!! But I sure need some little experience to compliment the whole trophy!!
