PoliticsRe: PETROAN: Dangote Substandard Allegation, Attempt To Suppress Competitors by Aprocco: 12:22pm On Nov 05, 2024
HgAkpobomeEr:
The Dangote refinery is a blessing to Nigeria and should be supported by all stakeholders.
How much more support can Dangote refinery get?

It's FX allocation to build the asset was at concessionary rate. FG contributed about 20% of its equity. Against the interest of all IOCs who pay for everything in USD, the industry was directed to sell Crude to Dangote in Naira.

If Dangote wants more support, let him ask. What is offensive is to seek to be the only seller in a deregulated market. If he still requires more concessions to be able to sell lower than competitors that accrued freight and Foreign currency cost, let him ask.

But it calls for concern that your product cannot compete locally or even internationally, except in a market where you are the only seller.

CaptainGo:
Why not go and build your own refinery so you can charge whatever amount you want? undecided

1. Dangote is not the only person with license to refine oil in Nigeria.

2. You guys have no idea how much he is buying crude oil, plus the cost of refining etc.

3. Government has promised but failed to fix Nigeria's refineries after sinking trillions of naira into it?

4. If an individual like Dangote can build a refinery, what is stopping FG, State governments, and other individuals from building theirs?

But na Dangote be your problem.
Answer-
Why can't Dangote leave other sellers to import in peace while he exports as he has severally threatened and even earn FX proceeds.

Why can't he export? Are his products too expensive for international markets?

1. Can he allow holders of import licence sell in peace so that hapless Nigerians can buy whichever product they can afford?

2. If the importers who buy with FX, accrue freight are able to sell lower than him who buys in Naira and has incomparable freight cost, let him sell his refinery to those who understand the business.

3. It's not a permit to restrict Nigerians to a single seller they cannot afford.

4. Dangote's refinery is a private business, petrol is a public good Government must ensure affordability to the most vulnerable Nigerian either by building refineries, licensing private construction or trading.

To aid the local refinery, Government has allocated FX at concessionary rate, contributed equity, sold crude in Naira, etc to give Dangote the competitive edge,
Government also has an obligation to ensure there's no monopoly so as not to allow profit motive of a man who wouldn't mind recouping $20B investment in 6 months override the survival need of the populace

Stop defending nonsense.
There's one benefit. Coastal road awarded to Hitech rumoured to be owned by Tinubu. That project about the combined size of 36 states budget was not competitively bided for.

The general pain of subsidy removal looks to have yielded private benefit.

Nigerians in their induced entitlement state now demand accountability from private individuals instead of public office holders and top civil workers like Kyari of NNPCL.
What happened to state owned refineries? Lets start from there.
Secondly, how much is crude sold to Dangote, below international price?
Thirdly, why is Dangote's direct price to trucks N11 lower than NNPCL's price to trucks from same refinery? Where does the N11 go to?
Mr. Senseless,
Nigerians demand accountability for its resources sold to Dangote on the most liberal concession since the discovery at Oloibiri

Nigerians demand accountability for the FG's succumb to Dangote's desperation to determine price in a deregulated market.

Nigerians demand accountability for Dangote's attempt to usurp ALL regulatory functions of the industry. A single seller wants to discredit the quality and price of other sellers but would not state its own price.

Examine Dangote's positions
1. If you don't cooperate with me, I would refine and export to other market.
2. NNPC lied that it lifted our products at ₦898.78.
3. The products lifted at our refinery at ₦898.78 is an old stock, prices would drop by the time we commence Naira for Crude

Ask yourself
1. If his products are fairly priced, why can't he export as he threatened and even earn FX instead of forcing it on Nigeria.
2. What's difficult about stating one's price in a free market
3. Unprecedented Naira for Crude concession that is already causing divestment of IOCs has commenced, and Dangote price is no longer ₦897.78, it's much higher.

Like Petroleum Like Cement, BUA a much smaller manufacturer declared he could sell cement at ₦3,500 at a profit, but Baba's price remained on the roof and eventually frustrated BUA's good intention to make cement affordable for everyone, same way he is frustrating IPMAN.

You are responsible for your state, bro.
It's the height of irresponsibility from Tinubu to mention Fubara's name.

We understand Fubara's role in conducting local government election, Tinubu also acknowledged violence and vandalism over Fubara's conduct of the election; to which he charged aggrieved party to go to court rather than resort to violence.

By mentioning Fubara, was he suggesting that Fubara is the one at war with himself over the election he conducted to the extent that he started burning houses and killing people.

If Fubara is the cause of the violence, where did the APC & PDP protesters who threatened violence on the eve of election retire to?

Tinubu is complicit through his appointed minister aided by his IGP that downed tool to aide the threatened violence on the eve of election and he had temerity to call Fubara to give peace a chance.

Typical of a criminal capitalist!

Why should cement be that cheap in Nigeria
Oil cabal is stronger than oil cartel, they want to sell at a lower price than my company
Ban oil Importation
Remove subsidy and let Nigerians buy at Saudi rather than Lybia price
NNPC could subsidise my company products.

My interest over the masses.

INTEGRITYA1:
Dangote should be bold enough to put the price on the Company website, why so much secrecy in all these.

He claimed his petrol is 15% cheaper than the imported one but that didn't reflect in what we are seeing out there rather we are buying at the higher price more than the imported ones.
God bless you sir.
What's so difficult about stating the price of your product?
Why are you more concerned about the cost of another traders importation, or the quality of other independent marketers.

Tell the quality and price of your own product and let consumers decide.

Yesterday some people came to ask Government to pay subsidy to a private company even when it has removed same subsidy from NNPC goods.

It's just been ridiculous.
PoliticsRe: Govt Interventions Can Crash Dangote Petrol Below N600/litre – Refiners by Aprocco: 7:24pm On Sep 22, 2024
Refiners association are not making sense again o.
President announced deregulation day 1. Country stopped subsidising even it's own NNPC products and Refiners is calling for Government intervention in the products of their private companies for their own private profits.

If Government has deregulated to allow importation for competition, if refiners are unable to match the price of importers let them export and go and sell to the various markets without subsidy across the world.

It's dubious to produce products where you expect to be the only seller, the only dictator of price and expect a Government that has withdrawn subsidy from a public (NNPC) good to pay same into Private pockets.

It's an extremely unfair suggestion to a greedy end.

It is not Dangote raising the price, it is the government removing subsidy. Govt can buy from Dangote and sell at subsidized rate. You are mixing things up. All along the price has been high, but for subsidy.
Nooo sir,
Don't return us back to Egypt. Subsidy is gone for good. NNPC sold for N586, some other marketers sold at N850. Dangote came in at N1,000.

We're in a deregulated regime. Let Government not subsidise for any seller. Let buyer be free to patronize whichever seller meets their need (price or quality). Dangote also has a right to demand tax and duty waivers to be able to force his price below Importer's product.

That's the only way consumers can win.

I am sure Dangote can't export his fuel anywhere. Business wey dey take others 10 years to recoup investment, Mr. Aliko dey run am with us for 6 months. I go bend if e fit carry him fuel go force foreigners the way hin dey carry Nigerians do thru Political influence all this year's.

Please let a local industry die so that 300 million citizens can survive.

It's Dangote's right to ask for tax holidays, duty waivers, etc to be able to compete favourably but to suggest a ban of cheaper option that bothers on livelihood of 300 million people in the interest of one capitalist's profit is evil.

How many people do you imagine die daily because they can't afford drugs, food. How do indigent pupils continue school. Add the multiplier effect of Dangote's N1,000 fuel to their trouble.

Nigeria supported with equity, supported the same project with unprecedented concessionary dollar allocation, and must now support it with the blood of its citizens.

Let the project die already if it has to please.

Same ol same old. The Monopoly that the gentleman frowned about .

Since we've been buying imported fuel, we didn't pay more than N568, Who Dangote refinery come epp now, Dangote or Nigerians?

Same arranged entry into cement industry that took the price beyond the masses' reach. Capitalism over social justice!

Let Dangote compete with Independent Marketers, Importers and other refineries so that Nigerians can choose between the Dangote- transparent quality fuel or the cheaper fuel our cars have been used to. If Dangote sees the need to gain price advantage, let Government give him tax/ duty waivers that would even bring his own price to N400 instead of killing cheaper importer- competitors

We can't all live on Dangote slab without option?

Do you think Dangote refinery would put Ogun state into future liability or help fortune of the state? Just like he admitted not to have read the Chinese contract he signed as a Governor, he revoked the naming of Adebutu Poly only to realise the Billionaire was the one who donated the structures of the institution and even pays the salaries of all staff when Adebutu withdrew the gesture. He revoked the naming of Mike Adenuga stadium only to realise that the African sport icon had magnanimously entered a contract to maintain and develop the stadium, he revoked Airport city project with the excuse that the state had no funds only to be countered that the next phase was the counterparty's investment.

That man undid everything to get at his predecessor and to score unhealthy ethnic points over the Ijebus

Amosun has said nothing sensible. And it's usually the same rambling after every cancellation; be it Dangote refinery, Airport city, University of Education, Naming of Mike Adenuga stadium, demolition of Apagun's golf course, revocation of naming of Adebutu Polytechnic, Revocation of Gateway Hotels concessionaires, an so so on.

How can a Government go to court with Amosun's explanation of his revocation of an executed contract by same Ogun State.

Ogun awarded contract, Utomi executed, Ogun says it's revoking executed contract it awarded because same Ogun at some later point blacklisted the contractor and he also hurriedly executed his contract. Are these tenable in law. Are we not in danger of losing Airports in addition to the lost Presidential planes?

Can you approbate and reprobate? Dishonour your obligations of your own contract for hurried execution by the awardee.

You see there is this competitiveness since the days of the the first Governor of Ogun State between Ijebu where Daniel hails from and Egba where Amosun hails from. It's gone on without hassles where the next district just waits it's turn to also favour development of its own distirict.

Then came OGD who appeared like a maverick by initiation of some major projects that would forever alter the Ijebu- Egba superiority equation; projects as Deep sea port (leveraging proximity to Atlantic), Airport city (leveraging Samagu's centrality), Refinery (leveraging Oil deposit).

Rather than come with projects for his Egba Division, In what Yoruba would describe as- "Kaka ki eku ma je sese a ma fi sawa danu ni". Amosun moved all projects he could move from Daniel's Ijebu and cancelled the one he couldn't move; an the list is endless- Dangote refinery, Agro Cargo Airport, University of Education, etc.

Lagos benefitted a lot from the cancellations of the OGD vision of Deep sea port, Refinery. Even the Airport city would have favourably competed with MMA

It was just a case of unhealthy rivalry to maintain ethnic superiority on the path of Amosun. And believe if a panel is set up, you would not see less than 50 that would join Utomi on Amosun's policy of Revocations.

Such an Agberoistic way of doing things as a leader.

I still feel bad for Ogun people for what Amosun did to them by pushing Dangote refinery away from the state.

He should be barred from holding political office for life.
There had always been this competitiveness between Ijebu District where Daniel hails from and Egba where Amosun hails from. And it has been so since the days of the first Governor Bisi Onabanjo. Successive regimes have been rightfully or wrongly accused of developing their Districts of origin without much hassles. Every District just waited for its own turn.

Then it came Ijebu's Daniel turn who appeared like a maverick. Originated project that would forever tilt the superiority of the Ijebu Division; projects as Deep sea port (leveraging proximity to the sea), Dangote refinery (leveraging oil deposits), Agro Cargo Airport (to leverage Sagamu centrality).

Rather than come in to also initiate projects to equate the tilt. Amosun chose to cancel all projects in Ijebu to maintain Egba superiority.

It was a case of "Kaka ki eku ma je sese, a ma fi sawa danu ni" meaning- rather than give your division the upperhand, the state would rather lose the projects.

He went on to become the most sectional Governor the state ever knew. Unfondly called the Governor of Abeokuta.

[quote author=dibunotion post=131564032]Ogun state is just a menace. Despite surrounding Lagos yet massively undeveloped and not blessed with good leaders. I hope they get it right someday [/quote

Nothing wrong with Ogun leaders. It's just a problem of Amosun's policy of cancellation that ran riot for 8 years.

That riot cancelled Dangote refinery that was even better suited for Ogun State which had a better terrain than sinking Lekki l, Lagos that eventually benefitted the Amosun- madness. Same riot of cancellation stopped the deep sea port project that Lagos would copy, get licence and execute few years after. Same riot consumed an Airport city project (first in Africa) that would have changed the dynamics of flying in Southwest and indeed Nigeria.

It was a case of cancellation of everything he seemed his predecessor had done in the Ijebu District which he believed was more befitting of his Own Egba District.

So almost everything he cancelled at the Ijebu Division, he tried to replicate at Egba. He tried to replace the cancelled airport at Egba and Amaechi at the point of inspection (on camera) said "I cannot approve an airport in a location that is only viable for the Governor to land). Same with University, etc.

Amosun set Ogun backwards on the altar of ethnicity. Daniel and Dapo have been decent and had visionary ideas that were brilliant enough to put Ogun state on Lagos pedestal if not for ethnicity debacle.

Read the news very well, it wasn't Amosun's secretary but Gbenga's secretary. They were the ones that caused that assault on the Chinese man.
The contract was entered into during Gbenga Daniel's regime. Adekunle Amosun put final pen on the paper to seal the contract while Dapo Abiodun myopically revoked the contract illegally without following due diligence.
Meaning these three unintelligent and enemies of Ogun State:
Gbenga Daniel
Adekunle Amosun and
Dapo Abiodun caused the problem that has caused international embarrassment on the nation as a whole.
Why FG is involved is because of bilateral trade relation between Nigeria and China. All contractual agreement and obligations are binding on the nation as a whole rather than the micro state involved.
The best they can do now is to go on their knees and beg the firm authority and seek for out of the court settle with Nigerian government taken all responsibility to upset any damage and debt incurred in the contract scheme.
Which planet are you from. You definitely don't read or write English there. The SSG's name was mentioned and he is a public figure if you ever lived in Ogun State. Taiwo was Amosun's secretary, An Abeokuta socialite.

Gbenga Daniel signed the Ogun Asia FTZ at Igbesa. Amosun by his admission yesterday said the company that sued Nigeria fed him false information about the parties Daniel awarded it to, so Amosun revoked the Daniel-awarded company and appointed the party now in dispute with Nigeria the interim administrators of the FTZ. He said when he realised that the information they fed him was false, he sacked them again.

Dapo had no hand in the issue.
