A goldfish was taken on a 200-mile round trip to the vets to have a huge tumour removed. Nemo the five-year-old pet underwent an intricate 45-minute operation on his head and shoulders. As part of activities for the continuation of the 15 days funeral rites of late Benin Monarch, Oba Erediauwa, residents in Benin kingdom have been told not to cook with fire on Sunday 5th June.
It is the day of Igberimwin in the royal funeral rites programme.
A press statement signed by Secretary to the Benin Traditional Council, Mr. Frank Irabor said the cooking without fire was in accordance with Benin customs and tradition.
The statement said all Benins as well as non-indigenes in the kingdom were expected to observe the Igberimwin rites.

Dear Mr President,
‎

I once again, deem it pertinent to write Your Excellency since your assumption of office in May 2015. Mr President will recall that at my meeting with you sometimes last year, I gave my commitment and pledge to ensure sustainable peace and development in the oil rich Niger Delta region and Nigeria in general.
At the meeting which I interpreted to be an ample opportunity and a template for peaceful co existence in the country‎, I made it known to Your Excellency that my support for your government as well as my commitment to a peaceful and secure Niger Delta region is paramount. But I remember also that I gave a humble advice on the need for Mr President to be weary of political cum crisis merchants, particularly those who are members of your own party, the APC. That advice arose out of the fear that most people who are members of your party, especially from the Niger Delta region, who are very known to me, take solace in evolving and concocting crisis to leverage upon.
I left the meeting fulfilled for three reasons. It was not because I had met with a new man in charge but because I ‎had an opportunity to air my views on the way forward. I had also successfully dispelled an unfounded perception that I do not want to see President you succeed having defeated my fellow Ijaw kinsman and close confidant. Thirdly, I did not use the opportunity of that auspicious meeting to arrogate to myself, as having the solutions to all the challenges facing the Niger Delta region.
This is worth emphasizing in the sense that aside me , there are several other dissatisfied, disenchanted, oppressed and agitated younger elements who still habour misdirected sentiments that I led a handful of ex agitators to surrender arms and embrace the Presidential Amnesty Programme in 2009, under late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, without immediately solving the myriad of problems facing our people. Little did such younger elements appreciate the fact that there can only be a process leading to the eventual succor ‎ for our people.
‎Nonetheless, I displayed an uncommon courage to ensure the sustenance of peace and relative security within the limits of my capacity and ability. Most Nigerians, if not all, are aware of the role I played in safeguarding and protecting crude oil and gas facilities during the last administration. I am sure even Mr President is aware of this development. As a patriotic Nigerian, I have never hidden my desire to do what is just in this regard even to the extent, that I have incurred the wrath of illegal bunkers and vandals.
Attempts To Demonize Me‎ And Ethnicise Niger Delta Issues
Mr President Sir, even at the risk of being repetitive, kindly permit me to recall the various efforts I have made to exonerate myself from the perfidious moves by some elements within and outside the Niger Delta region to always implicate me on any flimsy opportunity.
To such persons, calling me, the man behind every bad thing has remained the only avenue and pedestal to get political patronages. Although so many instances abound, the recent spirited move to link me with the nascent Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), a group that has claimed responsibility for the various breaches on oil pipeline installations in the Niger Delta region.
To some around you, the only means of getting Your Excellency’s attention is to wickedly attribute the activities of the said group to me simply because ‎I have a running battle with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC). This is the height of desperation and hypocrisy on the part of such people.
For one, I have chosen to pursue my case with the EFCC to a logical conclusion because I am yet to be convinced that the purported case instituted against me does not have ethnic colouration masterminded by my traducers. Since the case is before a competent court of jurisdiction, I will refrain from making further comments on this.
However, ‎it will be in the interest of this great nation if Mr President takes a painstaking study of certain political actors around him, most especially those from the Niger Delta region. I bear no grudge against any of such, but I am convinced beyond any doubt that they have taken solace in perpetual misdirection and mischief as far as my person is concerned.
I make bold to say that there are several APC elements within and around your government who see anything Ijaw as criminal and anti-Buhari. Unpretentiously too, certain non-Ijaw ethnic merchants cum bigots have expressedly displayed open hatred for Ijaws in the Niger Delta region. Such persons have almost succeeded in warping a governmental mindset against Ijaws, whether in or outside your government. Please

Mr President, this is a very dangerous dimension that is avoidable by your government.
Just as your people supported you as of right, throughout the presidential campaigns, ‎I do not think it was criminal for me to openly support one of my own, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for the presidency in 2015. I did so out of conviction not because I hate you or because you are a northerner. Afterall, most of my personal friends and acquaintances are from the north. To cap it all, the memories of my robust relationship with your Katsina brother, the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua are still painfully fresh and reminiscent of brotherliness.
In this regard, it is only appropriate to judge people not by what is reeled out to the corridor of powers by their traducers but by their deeds and activities. I do not think I have done anything to warrant this needless mental onslaught that has been visited on me since Your Excellency’s assumption of power.

Finally, I am compelled to say that these ethno-political merchants are merely laying the foundation for an unavoidable crisis. They will be happy to see a ravaged Gbaramatu Kingdom and by extension, Ijawland under the pretext of looking for me. This is a very dangerous template such persons are laying and it is only good for Mr President to deploy the inner mind to stratify this unwholesome gimmick.
Once again, I thank Mr President for having the time to peruse this letter.

The Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, while addressing Journalists yesterday thanked Nigerians for their incredible patience over the lingering fuel scarcity and promised the long queues will disappear next week. He said;

“The queues are as a result of sabotage. Some people rather than sell products send them into interlands where they can sell at ridiculous prices and so you are having this price distortions where people are making a lot of money, some are internal and some are external but a lot of it is marketers trying to make quick returns on their investments wrongly.

“We have asked DPR to deploy officials to ensure products are sold at the right because is only through price stabilization that these system queues will disappear.

“As at today we are delivering about 1,200 trucks, by weekend we should be delivering same number of trucks, it will take a bit of days to even out but you can see improvement already. I hope by the end of next week with the refineries helping us to stay on course, every part of the country will get fuels.

“We thank President, NNPC staff and ministries who work night and day to enforce discipline.

“We thank Nigerians for their unbelievable level of patience, we are solving problem we met on ground and trying to find long term solution to it and urge Nigerians to report sabotage, where people are selling product on higher price because we all need to work collectively to make this thing go for good.”

A magistrate’s court in Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State on Thursday sentenced a 38-year-old Pastor Ruben Okotie to six months imprisonment for seducing his house maid with red candle.
Presiding magistrate of the Court, Chief magistrate Carl Moeteke, who sentenced the accused, said he was found guilty with overwhelmed evidence in a three counts of conspiracy, attempted rape and illicit sexual act. Moeteke therefore sentenced the accused to six months without option of fine to serve as deterrent to others. It was gathered that Pastor Okotie on the 22nd day of February 2016 in Kwale town seduced his housemaid with a red candle after his wife had gone to visit her sick parents in a neighbouring community.
The housemaid, Helen, 13 years old and an indigene of Akwa Ibom State, was said to have resisted the attempt by the pastor to make love to her on her return from market where she had gone to buy food stuff and other cooking materials.
The pastor was said to have threatened to eject her from his house if she failed to comply. It was stated that a week after, the pastor pounced on the maid and pushed a red candle into her private part after forcing her into his bedroom.

He was reportedly arrested in Kwale when his wife reported the maid’s complaints to the police.

The world is deteriorating fast. Tears rolled down my face after reading this story and i thought of sharing it on my blog. A 15-year-old Indian girl who was raped and set on fire this week died Wednesday in the New Delhi hospital where she was being treated for severe burns.

Police have arrested a 20-year-old man and charged him with raping and burning the girl Monday in a village outside New Delhi, one of several recently reported cases of rapes of women or children in India.
Following the attack, the girl was taken to the hospital with burns over 95 percent of her body. She succumbed early Wednesday, said Uttar Pradesh state police constable Yadram Singh.
The girl's family said the man had been stalking her for several months. Her father had filed a police complaint and police issued a warning to him last year.
The man was charged Tuesday with several offenses, including rape and attempted murder. Since the girl has died, the attempted murder charge will be changed to murder, Singh said.
The man's family denied the accusation of rape and said the two were having a consensual relationship. They did not comment on the girl's burns.
Police said an investigation is continuing into the incident.

The woman (pictured above) has been arrested after allegedly biting off her boyfriend's tongue during a passionate kiss.

Shakeia Long, 37, was sharing a snog with Dwayne Williams, 41, when she chomped down and removed a chunk of his tongue, it was reported.

Horrified Williams managed to grab the piece of flesh and fled Long's apartment, in Hartford,
Connecticut, the Hartford Courant reported.

He is believed to have flagged down a passing police officer and was taken to hospital, according to an arrest warrant seen by the local paper.

Williams struggled to speak but was able to tell the officer "She bit off my tongue", the warrant says.

Williams was taken to nearby St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center where the detached piece of tongue was placed on ice.

Williams told investigators he had lost a lot of blood and began losing consciousness, the warrant alleges.

Medics tried in vain to reattach the large chunk of tongue, the Courant reports.

Hartford police spoke to Williams after his release from the hospital and tried to track down his alleged attacker.

Long, who has a child with Williams, was quizzed by officers and admitted she had smoked PCP with Williams at the time, authorities said.

In her statement, she claims she "was not aware of his injuries or how they occurred".

Long was charged with first-degree assault and appeared in court this week .

She also faces a charge of violating the terms of her probation from a 2013 second-degree assault conviction.

Long is due back in court March 31.

On Tuesday, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae, escaped death after one of the policemen escorting a bullion van opened fire on his vehicle while traveling to Ile-Ife, Osun State.
The incident happened at Ile-Oluji Junction. Falae was traveling to Ile-Ife for Afenifere leaders’ visit to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
Sources at Ife palace told our correspondent that the former Minister of Finance, who is the National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party, briefed some persons at Ile-Ife about the incident before the meeting with the Ooni.
Falae was quoted to have said,

“I was coming from Akure, approaching Ilesa. I saw some vehicles ahead of me. There was a bullion van in front, the vehicles ahead of us were overtaking the bullion van and we followed too.
“We just barely passed them when I heard a shot and I heard a bang on the car. We stopped and we discovered that they had shot at our car.
“They didn’t stop. We stopped at Erin-Ijesa and complained to the police at the checkpoint that one of the policemen escorting a bullion van fired at us at Ile-Oluji Juction.”

If you recall, last year, Chief Olu Falae was kidnapped by Funali herdsmen and released after paying a heavey ransom.

The Nigerian Army on February 29, inducted a combat motorbike battalion at the Headquarters of 25 Task Force Brigade, Damboa, Borno State in order to meet up with the renewed strategy of combing the remnants of Boko Haram terrorist. The Nigerian Army also launched the second set of 100 wanted suspected Boko Haram terrorists at the occasion.The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai while inducting the unit stated that the essence of the battalion is to open and secure motorways from various towns to and fro Maiduguri and other parts of Yobe State.Prior to the induction and launching ceremony, the Chief of Army Staff took time off to see and address troops located at Delwa and Bulabulin before arriving Damboa. On arrival, he inspected a Quarter guard at the Brigade’s headquarters.

Thereafter, he was briefed by the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Lawrence Adeleke Araba and then showed him some weapons, vehicles and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) making machines and equipment the formation recovered when they cleared Boko Haram terrorists camps at Talala and Ajingin recently.

Earlier, the Commander, 7 Division Garrison, Colonel Solomon Babatunde Kumapayi also showed the COAS vehicles, weapons and Improvised Explosives Making Devices (IEDs) his formation recovered from the terrorists at Kotokuma on Friday.

Inducting the combat motorbike unit, the Chief of Army Staff stated that the battalion will serve as a force multiplier in the clearance operations of remnants of Boko Haram terrorists. He stated further that with the induction of the unit, troops presence will be available along the roads thus keeping the roads open and safe.
A visibly elated Secretary of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Borno State, Alhaji Ahmadu Musa showered encomiums on the COAS and the Nigerian Army for their sacrifices and the initiative that would enhance safety and security on the roads. He promised the continuous support of his organization to the Army towards the mopping up of the remnants of the Boko Haram terrorists. He further assured the COAS that they will display and distribute the banner containing the photographs of the wanted suspected Boko Haram terrorists to all their branches and other chapters.
The COAS also visited 254 Task Force Battalion, Sabon Gari located along Damboa-Biu road where addressed the troops.

Adigun Oriyomi, who happens to be a Notorious Lagos gang leader and suspected serial killer has been sentenced to death by hanging by the Lagos State High Court sitting in Igbosere.
Oriyomi was sentenced to death by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo, after he was arraigned on multiple counts of murder.
The court convicted him of killing his best friend, Femi Adekeye, in front of his four-year-old daughter.
Oriyomi’s case has been ongoing since 2013 when he was arrested and released in controversial circumstances.
The convict had been arrested for murder on September 9, 2013, and arraigned before the Ebute-Meta Magistrate’s Court where he confessed to being a member of the Confraternity and owned up to four other murders between 2010 and 2013.
He was remanded in prison pending the advice of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, but was released under controversial circumstances, after which he jumped bail.'
On January 29, 2014, it was reported that the suspect led gunmen to Amodu Street, Mushin, where they killed a pregnant woman, Musili Bello, her 12-year-old daughter, Suliat, and a motorcycle rider, Baba Monday.
On February 10, 2014, the police said the suspect also led a gang to Ewenla Street, Mushin, and killed another woman, 38-year-old Agbabiaka, her 4-month-old baby, Aishat, and another woman, Adeboye.
It was reported in March 2014, that the suspect killed his best friend, Adekeye, in front of his four-year-old daughter on February 12, 2014, at the deceased’s residence on Isa Street in Aboru, in the Ipaja area of Lagos State.
In April 2014, the police said the suspect again led a suspected team of cultists to Akala Street, Mushin, and killed one 26-year-old Azeez.
A team of Investigating Police Officers from the State Department of Criminal Investigation, Yaba, had told a Yaba Magistrate’s Court that Oriyomi, and others confessed to the crimes, while witnesses would testify in court.
Oriyomi escaped all the murder charges, except for that of his best friend whom he killed in front of the daughter.
A police source said,

“The testimony of the little girl was what saved the case.
After we could not establish the other murder charges due to absence of strong evidences, the small girl gave an eloquent testimony of how her father was killed in her presence. The judge tried to sway her by asking if the police prosecutor taught her what to say.
She said yes. The judge asked what she was taught to say. She said, ‘She said (the prosecutor) I should speak the truth.’

She narrated how Adigun (Oriyomi) entered their room with a ‘big gun’ and her father begged him to kill only him and spare the lives of his children. She told the court that immediately he shot her dad dead, she quickly carried her baby sister and ran away from the room.”

The judge, after listening to the five prosecution witnesses, who also included the deceased’s wife, brought the case to a close on Monday.

It has been revealed that Kanye West, known for his creativity and talent, began at an early age to exhibit a behavior that almost helped in wrecking his mother's relationship with the man who welcomed them into his home and tried to to be a father figure to the teenager. Willie Scott, in his first ever media interview, said Kanye's continued refusal to do any chores or obey his simple rules led him to ask his girlfriend to leave his home after living together for four years.Scott said he and Kanye's mother Donda, an English professor, split over her refusal to control her son in his home and that the couple even sought professional help to try and save their six-year relationship.

Scott, who is 81 and still lives in the same detached house in a Chicago suburb, said:

'Kanye didn't want me with his mother or any man for that matter. He was wrapped up into his mother'We went to a counselor to see if we could get him on the right path'But Donda wasn't interested. She anted ME on the right path. And that is what the dilemma was.'He [Kayne] was about 14. He was a beautiful kid, but he was aggressive and he was self assured.

'He told me in front of his mother that he didn't want to have to do anything he didn't have to.So that left the discipline on me basically. And he wasn't cooperative. He had to take the responsibility for living here and he wasn't really willing to do that.'She would make excuses for him. She would describe her son as a "genius"
But he was not into doing anything but his (rap) work. He did his thing which was doing his music.

'He was not interested in anything else, not maintaining anything.'

Scott said Kanye would refuse to cut the grass on the lawn and would desist from menial tasks like dealing with the trash or walking the dog.


'His mother would take the garbage out and he would stuff the old garbage in the can and put a new bag over it because he didn't want her to say anything to him.

'He was a very creative kid, but he didn't want anything to interfere with what he was doing, and that was his music.'

Scott said Kanye was rarely rude to him, but was determined to keep his mother onside and against the man who had fallen in love with her.Kayne had gotten used to being the only person in his mother's life and he wanted to preserve the status quo.

But Scott said although Kanye was rarely rude to him, he always relied on his mother's support.

'He was the only child and she loved him to death. She was locked into him period.'She had him lock, stock and barrel. So it would not have mattered for me to talk to him when she was the one who made the difference.He never talked back at me or anything. But he says what's on his mind. It comes from his mom basically.

'She was restrained but he wasn't, he would just fly out.

Scott said he was 'insulted', however, by some of Kanye's antics like refusing to clean the bathroom or do other household chores and instead spend hours in his bedroom with his musical chums.He twice told the teenager his friends were banned from his house until he could accept his responsibilities but Kanye refused.

He said the tension between he and the rapper could have been avoided had his lover been less supportive of her son and more of him.

'We talked about the fact that she didn't discipline him. We went to a counselor to try and get things smoothed out. But her mind was on him being a millionaire.'

He said Dr West would often describe her son as a 'genius,' instilling a no-nonsense confidence in him and appreciating his love for music and writing.

He added:

'He was the only child and she loved him to death. She was locked into him period.'

With Kanye in the middle between them, Scott said he realized after four years living under the same roof that the relationship could go no further.

'Eventually I asked that he and Donda to move out.'He had to take the responsibility for living here and he wasn't really willing to do that.'

Dr West died in November 2007 at the age of 58 after being admitted to a hospital in Marina del Rey, California. Her health began to deteriorate following a cosmetic plastic surgery procedure.

President Muhammadu Buhari has said he won’t pay N5,000 to the unemployed Nigerians as had earlier been promised. Speaking in Saudi Arabia as he over the weekend, President Buhari said:

“This largess N5,000 for the unemployed, I have got a slightly different priority. I would rather do the infrastructure, the school and correct them and empower agriculture, mining so that every able bodied person can go and get work instead of giving 5,000, N5,000 to those who don’t work.”

The promised to pay N5,000 monthly stipend to the most vulnerable in the society was a major prank of the presidential campaign of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) last year.

This Isn't good! Oprah Winfrey  has lost $24 million blame it on Weight Watchers. Last year,she bought a 10 percent stake in the weight loss company for $43.2 million, joined the company's board of directors, became a spokesmodel for the brand and began its diet plan. 
According to Reuters, on Thursday, the company reported a 21 percent drop in fourth-quarter net revenue, which sent its shares down more than 27 percent in extended trading. As a result, Winfrey's stake plunged by about $24 million. However, she has still gained almost $75 million since she made her investment, the news wire added.

On the day Winfrey first invested in Weight Watchers, its shares doubled in value, while she made $70 million in just a day and also single-handedly generated $700 million in stock market value in two days, Forbes had reported. In January, after she tweeted a video saying she lost 26 pounds on the diet program while still eating bread every day, company stocks rallied more than 16 percent and she made $12 million.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have apparently sold the mansion that's caused them so many problems for a cool $18million.
According to Variety, the couple have accepted the offer for their lavish property located in Bel Air. It's sure to be a weight off their shoulders after they spent years - as well as millions - trying to renovate it into their dream house.
The couple forked out $9million for the estate before their daughter North was born in 2013.

Shortly afterwards they decided to follow through with several extensive renovations and moved in with Kim's mum Kris Jenner in Calabasas.
In the end the couple, who welcomed son Saint in December, never lived in the property and instead found a new three-acre estate in the Hidden Hills.
Even though it may seem like Kim and Kanye have made a profit on the sale, it's far from what they wanted.
According to reports last year, the pair were looking for around $20million on account of the amount of money they'd poured into making it their dream home.
Kim recently confirmed why they were giving up on the digs during the season finale of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. She told BFF Jonathan Cheban : "It's too much to move here to get it perfect."
I guess the cash from the sale could certainly go quite a long way to help Kanye West after he claimed to be in $53million worth of debt.

A new mum is warning other parents after a popular baby bath product left her baby "almost bald." Siobhan Canavan, 24, claims that after using Johnson & Johnson's "Top to Toe" baby bath wash on her four-week-old daughter Evelyn, clumps of her hair fell out.
The mum-of-one from Coalisland said she couldn't believe what had happened after using a product that is designed for newborns.

She said: "I tried phoning them after it happened but couldn't get through to anyone so I went on to the website and left a review. I got the response via email saying they were sorry about the incident and wanted to me to send back the bottle.

"They said in the email that they aware the product has been associated with hair loss. I couldn't believe it."


She continued: "I went back and checked the bottle to make sure and nowhere on it does it say anything about the fact it can cause hair loss.

"It's called Top to Toe, it says it can be used on their head that's why I used it. Everyone knows Johnson's, it's a well-known brand so that's why I trusted it.

"They don't just do baby products, as I've used some of their products on myself before so I thought as it was designed for babies.

"I know there are women who bathe their babies before they leave the hospital so it should be gentle enough for her first wash.

"This was maybe her fourth bath and the first time I used this product her hair fell out."


Siobhan said despite the company offering to send her a replacement she won't be accepting the offer.

A spokesperson for Johnson and Johnson said: "We are aware of the nature of the complaint, and have asked the customer in question to provide us with more information so we can investigate further.

"In our standard response email to the customer, dated 22 February 2016, the phrase 'it has been identified that the product has been associated with hair loss' referred only to a record being made in respect of her specific complaint (associating hair loss and the product or regarding the product)."
