SportsRe: Should Siasia Be Sacked Or Not by Arctic(m): 3:55pm On Oct 09, 2011
Siasia should be sacked ASAP. The guy is a waste of space.  Amodu did much better. He obviously has failed to recognise he is very incapable as well. Big ego but no coaching skill. He has no leadership skills or communication skills either. It also looks as if the team as a whole were demoralised by his approach.

Our players are demoralised by this guy and will never play well under him. Please sack Siasia!!!!!!!!

Please sack him immediately to allow Nigeria to focus on the next World Cup. Otherwise there will be more failure. Nigeria needs to start building a new team with a NEW COACH. Personally I would go for Stephen Keshi (see what he did with the Togo team) or Sunday Olisheh.

Siasia is a waste of space. The only thing he is good at is sacking players who he feels are questioning his authority. He has shown he clearly does not have what it takes  to be a successful international manager.

He should resign ASAP to avoid further embarassment.

Explosion rocks bar in central Nigeria
Sun Sep 11, 2011 8:51pm GMT
Print | Single Page[-] Text [+] JOS, Nigeria, Sept 11 (Reuters) - An explosion shook an outdoor bar in the central Nigerian town of Jos on Sunday, a military spokesman said, the latest unrest in a region where religious clashes have killed over 70 people in recent weeks.
A popular open air venue, known as West of Mines, was cordoned off following the blast.

A spokesman for the military Special Task Force meant to keep order in Plateau State, of which Jos is the capital, said the explosion was a continuation of a cycle of violence between Christian and Muslim gangs that flared up last month.

He did not say what caused the explosion or if there were casualties. (Reporting by Buhari Bello; Writing by Joe Brock; Editing by Elizabeth Fullerton)

BusinessRe: I Need Advice On Items I Can Import To Nigeria by Arctic(op): 10:25am On Sep 04, 2011
I have a friend in Nigeria who is trying to find wholesale buyers for the items so we can get an idea of how much we would be able to sell them for in Nigeria.
Like I said the amount of items will probably fill a 20 foot container or more so I need a wholesale buyer ideally who will buy everything at once.

The draw back is that most are returns so there is a chance that some may not be in perfect working order. However some may have been returned because the purchaser changed his mind or didn't like the product. Goods can only be returned within 30 days or 1year if faulty. Most will also be in there packaging.

I have received information that people are bringing in these goods from the UK and they are selling in Nigeria.

Thanks

@naijacutee

Thanks for your response. Yes it is the Argos pallets I was referring to you. There are different categories and you can target the kind of goods you want.

It appears most people have looked at it and thought it wasn't worth importing them due to the fact some of the items like you mentioned will not sell in Nigeria. I have discussed with several people and that seems to be the feedback I have got.

However I did go to the marthill warehouse a few years ago and they said they had sent some goods to Nigeria on several occasions

Thanks

BusinessI Need Advice On Items I Can Import To Nigeria by Arctic(op): 10:17pm On Aug 29, 2011
Iwould value advice from nairalanders.

I have found a company in the UK which sells ex-catalogue items wholesale (in pallets). This items are mostly returns with minor evidence of being used but some are grade -A (unused and brand new). Most are in working order.

They would have to be shipped in 40 foot containers as they are sold in large quantities. I would want to sell them to a wholesaler in Nigeria to avoid having to sell them individually.

Examples of some of items on sale include: microwaves, electric blenders, electric scales, food processes, deep fat fryers, shower heads, electric door chimes (currently over 500 pieces of these brand new for sale), electric mowers, steam iron, toaster, electric kettle, ceiling lights

There are also audio/TV pallets with Ipod docks, ear phones, clock radio, nintendo DS, DVD players, incar DVD players etc.

The list of items is long. Does anyone have advice on whether these would sell quickly or should I go for certain specific items only.

Thanks

Arctic.
BusinessWhich Of These Household Items Should I Import by Arctic(op): 7:13pm On Aug 29, 2011
I have found a source of ex-catalogue goods (wholesale) which can be imported to Nigeria from the UK. Most are in working condition but some may not be working. Those that are not grade A may have evidence of being used. Some are also grade 'A' - unused.

The items are sold in bulk and would have to be shipped to Nigeria in 40'' container. ideally I would like to sell all items to a wholesaler in Nigeria rather than having to sell things individually.

However people who I have asked for advice in Nigeria don't seem to know what will sell quickly and what will not.

Please I would appreciate advice from nairalanders regarding what sells quickly and possible wholesale prices as well.

A list of some them below:

Microwaves

Flat packed furniture (I heard this is contraband) - see nigeria customs website http://www.customs.gov.ng/ProhibitionList/import.php

Electric door bell chimes - currently over 500 pieces of these for sale at wholesale prices - BRAND NEW and in original packaging.

Steam iron

Electric hoover

food liquidiser and food processor

Electric kettle

toaster

Electric lawnmower - I heard the motor parts from these lawnmowers are used to make machines used to grind foodstuff in Nigeria.

Electric blender

bathroon accesories including mirrors, toilet seat, electronic scale, shower head.

deep fat fryer

cutlery set

Electronic items:

DVD players

in-car DVD players

32'' LCDs

IPOD dock

earphones

clock radio

Aerial booster

wireless mouse

laminator

The list is long but these are a few of the items. Most of the pallets have a mixture of items although kitchen items are sold in one pallet, electronics in one pallet etc.

Any comments welcome

Thanks

If this is for the property what are the different prices for the different property types.

SportsPeter Odemwingie Signs New Three-year West Brom Deal by Arctic(op): 8:51pm On Aug 18, 2011
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14560968.stm

Striker Peter Odemwingie has ended speculation over his future by signing a new three-year deal with West Brom.

The 30-year-old was the Baggies' top scorer with 15 league goals in his first season in the English top-flight, sparking interest from rival clubs.

Albion boss Roy Hodgson confirmed on Thursday that the club had rejected a £4m bid from Wigan last weekend.

"I'm glad everything is sorted out. It was only a few details that delayed everything," Odemwingie told BBC Sport.

"There is a huge challenge for us to be better than last season's performance. Personally, and as a team, we must prove that last season was not a fluke.

"I have always said I like it here, and now I need to concentrate on regaining my full fitness and give my all to the club like I always do."

The Nigerian international joined West Brom last summer on a two-year contract from Lokomotiv Moscow for £2.5m and was an instant success, finishing the Premier League's fifth highest scorer as the club avoided relegation.

Delays in contract negotiations, which began in May, led to interest from rival clubs, but Hodgson said he was always confident Odemwingie would stay.

"I'm obviously very pleased that Peter has pledged his future to West Bromwich Albion," said Hodgson.

A bid did come in from Wigan but it was way, way below our valuation of the player. I know it was a very easy one for us to turn down
Roy Hodgson

West Brom boss
"I always believed this would be the case and I am grateful to both him and the club for reaching an agreement.

"I do not think we have concerned ourselves with any bids that have come in for him so far.

"A bid did come in from Wigan but it was way, way below our valuation of the player. I know it was a very easy one for us to turn down."

Odemwingie missed last Sunday's season opener against Manchester United because of an ankle injury and is a doubt for Saturday's trip to Chelsea.

He added: "Started running. Optimistic me [sic] says I'll be ok for Saturday with magic from the doctor though."

West Brom coach Michael Appleton was more cautious about Odemwingie's chances of being involved at Stamford Bridge.

He told the club website: "Peter has a 50/50 chance of training at the end of the week.

"Whether we involve him straight away in the game is a decision the gaffer and staff will make nearer the time.

"We still have three days before the game so if he plays any part on Saturday it will be a bonus."
Business To BusinessHow Much Do Microwaves Cost In Nigeria? by Arctic(op): 5:24pm On Aug 17, 2011
I have found a company in the UK that sells ex-catalogue microwaves wholesale for a fraction of the original price.

Does anyone know how much these are sold for in Nigeria? A friend of mine wants me to send him a bus but he wants to fill it with some goods, not sure which goods would be most profitable.

For me the fact that Odemwingie is saying he took permission and Siasia is saying he didn't suggests that maybe someone is not telling the truth here. I leave that for you to decide but personally I feel Siasia maybe overdoing things.

For those of you who do not appreciate the statement that ''Odemwingie is the only world class player Nigeria has''  I would like to quote a few facts for everyone to ponder over.

1. Nigeria striker Peter Odemwingie beat Black Stars striker Asamoah Gyan to win the English Premier League African Player of the season 2010/2011.

http://dailytimes.com.ng/article/odemwingie-wins-epl%E2%80%99s-african-player-year

2. Odemwingie received the Premier League Player of the Month award twice in the 2010/11 season. Odemwingie is only the sixth man to have received the accolade twice in a season in the award's history.

http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/premier-league/2011/05/06/2474410/west-brom-striker-peter-odemwingie-named-player-of-the-month-for-

3. Odemwingie scored 15 goals for West Bromwich Albion in his first season with them in the EPL and without him they would have surely been relegated.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Odemwingie

To compare this goal tally with other great Nigerian players who played in the Premier League:

Kanu Nwankwo scored 16 goals for Arsenal in the 1999/2000 season (that was his highest goal tally throughout his career in Premier league). You can see Odemwingie's tally comapares favourably

Okocha is a midfielder so it would be unfair to compare the two.

I totall agree with Sunday Oliseh on this one.

Siaisa clearly made the wrong decision by leaving him out. He could have dealt with the situation in a different manner and not allow his ego to interfer with his judgement.

From wikipedia:

On 30 April, Odemwingie became the first player in West Brom's Premier League history to score in four consecutive games. This goal came against Aston Villa and meant he had scored 15 goals thus far in his debut season. It would also contribute to Odemwingie's second Barclays Player of the Month award of the season.[23] Odemwingie is only the sixth man to have received the accolade twice in a season in the award's history

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Odemwingie

From BBC. The guy is good.

West Bromwich Albion striker Peter Odemwingie has been looking back on a hugely successful debut season in the Premier League.

The Nigerian, who joined the Baggies from Lokomotiv Moscow for £1.5 million in August, stands fifth in the top scorers list and his 14 goals (so far) is the most scored by an Albion player in the top flight since Garry Thompson hit 19 in 1984-85.

He credits the fans for his instant impact in English football.

"It's strange, I got this feeling right from the first game," Odemwingie told BBC WM.

"When they are calling out your name you feel they are there and it's very encouraging. I can only be happy."

I just came across this article today.

The Nigerian High Commission (UK) have been providing a mobile e-passport service for the past few months round the UK but I think it just ended last week in Manchester.

They were also in Birmingham 2-3 weeks ago and they provided the service for a 2 week period. No need for interview date, just turn up with your recepipt and payment confirmation from the internet.

Well you may be lucky and they may start the process again.

Keep checking the Nigerian High Commission website for any updates.

A friend has recently told me it will cost N15,000 to do a check.

Please can anyone verify this amount. I am surprised considering that Lawyer was offering this service for free initially.
