Hello Nairalanders. If perhaps you were given the power to become the President of Nigeria for just 1 day, what is it that you will change or do within the 24 hours. Let's comment. |
masperano:I need soln pls. |
Try this pls. A Software engineer has the capability of thinking 100 lines of code in 5 mins and can type 100 lines of codes in 10 mins. He takes a break of 5 mins after every 10 mins. How many lines of codes will he complete typing after an hour? |
Nice.
Then it is rechargeable. |
Alternatively @ayokunlei, rather than using the reduction formula. You can use your day to day trigonometry. See how: SOLUTION $Sin²xdx Recall from trig. that Cos2x = 1- 2Sin²x, then, Sin²x = 1/2(1-Cos2x); => $Sin²xdx = 1/2$(1-Cos2x)dx. Which is what you requested for. Ans.: 1/2[x-1/2(Sin2x)] + c. |
umehmj:One of my favorite stories then. |
Let's discuss all our challenges regarding the application and let people profer solutions. Let's go!. |

Misanthrope:A. (1+x)n = 1 + nx + n(n-1)/2.x2 + n(n-1)(n-2)/6.x3 + ... B. put n= 1/2, x=2.96... C. n=7. |
Cymbal:(i) Ellipse. (ii) Hyperbola. (iii) does not exist. x²/25 + y²/16 = 1; comparing with: x²/a²+y²/b²=1, a=5, b=4. To find the eccentricity, we use: b²=a²(1-e²), e=3/5. Focus, S(±ae, 0); S(3,0) and S¹(-3,0). To obtain directrices (±a/e,0), which are: (25/3) and (-25/3) |
Cymbal:(i) Ellipse. (ii) |
Cymbal:Rearranging, we have; x² - 2x + y² + 4y = 11, Adding (1+4) to both sides, we have; x² - 2x + 1 + y² + 4y + 4 = 11+1+4; => (x-1)² + (y+2)² = 16. => (x-1)² + (y+2)² = 4². Comparing with the equation of a circle, we obtain its center C(1,-2). The line then passes through the points (0,0) and (1,-2). The slope m= -2, we thereby use y-y1 = m(x-x1); x1= 1, y1=-2 m=-2; => y+2=-2(x-1), simplifying; y + 2x = 0 |
Cymbal:Since P is equidistant from A(a,0) and B(-a,0); => PA² = (x-a)² + y² => PB² = (x+a)² +y² PA²-PB² = 2k². => (x-a)² + y² - (x+a)² - y²= 2k²; Simplifying; => x² -2ax + a² + y² - x²-2ax-a²- y² =2k² => -4ax = 2k². =>2ax + k² = 0. |
