With the way SNOW WHITE turned out, I'm now sure how the antics of a star or the director can affect a movie's box office hopes.

Also remembering how EMILIA PEREZ suffered at the Oscars. It missed a chance for a clean sweep.

In hindsight, this is what essentially destroyed DC's THE FLASH movie's box office hopes. It was a bit flawed but I feel the film wasn't as bad as it was portrayed. Ezra Miller's brouhaha ultimately kneecapped that film. Imagine a Flash film with TWO Batman and Supergirl unable to even gross $500mn. 🤦🏽‍♂️

It's now very important vetting the stars you include in your movies. If not, na you go suffer the blowback when the time comes when your film needs a major milestone.

I usually don't care about the real-life antics of actors I can still enjoy a movie even if the actor is a douchebag.

I watched pay it forward recently and still enjoyed it with Kevin spacey jnowing what has been outed.

The flash was mediocre at best. I hated ezra in fantastic beasts. He was just an overpowered fool. Voldemort was a better villain.

That being said I agree that actors can affect t the movie outcome

You see in the entertainment industry, audience is key. If you can closely monitor audience patterns and other unique factors at play, you can accurately predict an outcome. Of course, there's a few misses from time to time.

For example, almost everyone was damn sure a film like Mickey17 was ultimately flopping at the box office. It wasn't rocket science because it's known that audience don't turn up for such niche movies, especially one as expensive as that. Niche director as well.

But MINECRAFT, I mean, this is the most popular video game franchise ever with the highest sales by far with over 300mn copies sold worldwide. So why was people expecting it to flop.

MINECRAFT was always gonna be massive. January to March 2025 had been disappointing and no major hit movie. So the first movie which got families intrigued, has the entertainment they want, no politics, no cast wahala. I mean people have been stuck at home since mid January without a movie to bring them back to movie season. So that first likeable movie was always gonna benefit.

Especially in this era where video games IP is now very popular and profitable at the box office. Everyone saw what THE SUPER MARIO BROS MOVIE did despite critics hating on it.

With this W from MINECRAFT, be rest assured that more and more video games adaptations are coming on stream with many already in development. I remember saying it few years ago that since CBMs are not as dependable and dominant as they where, video game IPs are the next big bet for Hollywood studios.

In fact Legendary, the owner of the MINECRAFT movie rights is prepping a VOLTRON live action in development. Probably will be co-produced with WB.

In TV everyone is in on it. Netflix got ARCANE, HBO got THE LAST OF US, Amazon Prime got FALLOUT, Paramount got HALO. With more in the pipeline.

Live action legend of zelda is also in the pipeline too. That I am waiting for.

The residence is a solid 3/10 for me.

I don't know about you but this show was boredom personified.
The only reason i was able to complete it was because i had downloaded all episodes already so i just had to find a way and forced myself to finish it.
It got to a stage, i started fast forwarding because i just want the series to end and let me delete.
The only good thing i find about this show was the little comedy and funny gestures by some of the casts..
Other than that, the show was a bore.

Character development 0/10, no twist, no thrill, no nothing at all, execution of the story was a borefest and the script was too average.

I felt they could had done better giving the many numbers of casts and crew.

Anyways we move.

I've abandoned this show. I even forgot about it. I really hate the shonda rhimes personification of the smart back woman surrounded by stupid men, particularly white men.

I started scandal but got bored and irritated by the lead after a while. Da Bleep. She's nothing special as far as I'm concerned and why the Bleep was the American president so simple.

This was in many people's predictions to hit $1bn this year. Many people knew it would make crazy money regardless of critical reception. Jack Black and Jason Momoa is enough reason to guarantee a Win.

MINECRAFT, SUPERMAN, ZOOTOPIA 2, HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON, AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH, LILO AND STITCH are the potential billion dollar grossers for this year. And the most likely highest grossing films of the year alongside JURASSIC WORLD (which I weirdly don't see a billion for).

So not surprised.

Those dinos have a way of touching the billion mark. I don't know how they do it. I for one always watch them
