Most cinema movie producers operate at a loss. Nigeria doesn't have a good cinema tradition. Action movies are good for cinema but we don't produce action movies, we produce mostly family drama and then pay heavily to feature it on a busy day in the cinema, then claim it grossed heaven on earth. Grossing is not profit. A movie can gross 100 million naira but the producer goes home with 10 million naira profit.

well, happiness is free. Buying land, settling in another area of a country and becoming part of that community is the biggest tool of integration. It's the opposite of apartheid. That's why societies that discourage integration prevent such. Jews buy up lands in the West Bank and the so called Palestinian authority are seriously worried and has even enacted death sentence to mitigate it.

The southwest wants integration and they're getting it. The southwest fought for three years to prevent Igbos from leaving Nigeria and even crafted policies that sabotaged infrastructural development such as port in the East which severely affected industrialization along the eastern corridor. This forced massive Igbo migration to Lagos.

This is the integration which you wanted by all means and now, you have it. Don't cry. You cannot approbate and reprobate!

Blame Imo state for giving them an inch.
Igbo will go elsewhere in Nigeria and develop it, others will come to Igboland and constitute nuisance.

Nobody owns land, we call it lease, just like we say nobody owns a child, we call it custody. This terms are determined by the nature of the subjects. However, they carry the same implications as ownership by law. There is no original owner of a land whose ownership has been validly transferred. Infact, the land land use act of 1978 came to eliminate mindset of "original" ownership and transfers that tribute to the government. Land use act eliminates what you think it strengthens.
When we speak of the state owning a land, we mean that ownership of a land cannot be transferred by the state in a situation of individual transfer of ownership across states. If I buy a land in Delta state, being an indigene of Anambra, it doesn't mean that land now belongs to Anambra state. It has become my land but with Delta state jurisdiction.

Practical and Theory are 2 completely different matters.
The State Government doesn't own the land it only holds it in Trust for the people of the State.

if you sell your land through deed of assignment, you have permanently transferred your legal interest in the land to the buyer. The issue of lease is between the new owner and the government, who infact, holds the land in trust for all owners.
Barring situations of misuse or of public interest, the state does not right over private land. Even in case of expiry of the so-called lease, it's just some revalidation that is required.

The case you are quoting has totally different content. Real estate ownership is governed by different legal status such as sub-lease.

Old buildings are disgracefully more solid than what they build today. I don't see how they pose more threat than the lack of enforcement of subsisting building regulations for new developments.

And yes, supreme court will entertain it if he proceeds there because the situation of his conviction is still evolving and new facts that could alter his conviction cannot be ignored by the court. Separatist agitations in the east have come to stay. Having a country where people are willing to go to jail for self determination when the country's president can't even sacrifice to cut cost should tell you the country's days are numbered. Court cannot ok someone's conviction and reduced his sentence for no reason. A reason was given which I stated. That simply mean that the conviction as handed by the lower court wasn't accepted. He can still approach the country's supreme court with fresh evidence.

Now, here is the catch: indigenous Lagosians have, of their own free will, consistently expressed a desire to chart a course different from that of the Yoruba mainstream, and Yoruba elites have historically been apprehensive about this possibility. In fact, the Macaulays, Braithwaites, Georges and Vivours have rarely identified themselves as Yoruba.

Herbert Macaulay’s NNDP in Lagos helped usher in nationalist activities from which Zik’s political movement emerged and later developed into the NCNC. Macaulay’s political path differed from that of Awolowo’s Yoruba-dominated Action Group. Yet, for Awolowo to alter the political landscape in Lagos, the strategy was not to convince the indigenous population but to mobilise migrants from the Southwest along ethnic lines to defect to his political camp.

We can also recall the Braithwaites’ refusal to align with Awolowo and Oba Akiolu’s consistent warnings to southwesterners to stop claiming Lagos as Yorubaland.

Again, at various restructuring conferences where Lagos was represented by its indigenous population, the representatives made it clear that they did not want Lagos to be politically subsumed under the Yoruba.

Many southwesterners do not necessarily regard indigenous Lagosians as Yoruba. Some believe, and have openly suggested, that many indigenous Lagosians have Igbo ancestry. However, they believe that large-scale migration into the city and the occupation of political offices through numerical strength could help disempower the natives and stem what they consider to be the growing Igbo influence.

This is why the joke about Lagos being a no-man’s-land is taken so seriously by some southwesterners. They sometimes perceive the idea even when nobody has explicitly expressed it. This is simply because some genuinely regard Lagos as a no-man’s-land. With the rising economic profile of the Igbo population in the state, they fear that economic dominance could eventually translate into political influence—a development they would consider a fatal blow.
