The plight of the millions of poor people in the East is hidden in the perception and the belief that poverty is a northern problem.

they will continue being a political settlement in the hand of their leaders, many of Northerners have abandoned their region because of insecurity but Buhari lackadaisical attitude felt he's doing anyone by not sacking the most incompetent corrupted certified Service chiefs in the history of Nigeria shut up!! I know you must be very happy now... Kastina will over come this sooner... And they will bounce back... So enjoy... This news is for people like you |

But be rest assure that ISWAP Take over will work in the north but fail in the south because they will fight day and night for every inches of the land unlike the North who support and are sympathetic to Jihadist major obstacle to Nigeria military war against this ISWAP.. Boko haram is not the threat but ISWAP religious bigots like you have been hating the north from day one... You are so desperate for our downfall... Despite our shortcomings... We are still waxing stronger than ever before! |

ChoCho54: OP you speak the scary truth! Southern leaders know this, they all discuss it in the privacy of their assocations, but they won't take any action that looks like it threatens the unity of Nigeria! Not because they love one Nigeria as presently constituted, but because if they rock the boat, their meal ticket would be cut!
Arrewa we know the north is developing itself now more than any other time in history, it's also common knowledge that terrorism has found a fertile ground in the north due to religious considerations. Your leaders are not sincere in the fight against terror cos they are making merchandize of it. Southerners must stop deceiving each other... Terrorism in which north?? Is north a state?? We only have Bokoharam in Borno state and they no longer take over local government as they used to back then... They only strike villages that are close to the forest and with time they will be totally eradicated... Bandits in kastina, zamfara and southern kaduna villages... That ones are the real threat and the security operatives are doing their best and we are still pressuring them to do more... Some northern states are more peaceful than your state down south... If Bokoharam attack Borno village you'll be shouting north... Go to that same Borno... You'll never know there's anything happening there...unless you visit affected villages The north is not as the media is portraying it to be... Some of you must stop deceiving each other that the whole north has been ravaged by insurgency and that isis will one day rule the region. |

abduljabbar4: Sea ports, FCT status, and diversity is what made Lagos what it is today. Take all all the Igbos, Hausas and the sea port there and watch it become another brown roof republic. Abuja is also benefiting from the FCT status. Maybe if you take some time and travel to see it, you will understand what I mean. Even if Abuja ceases to be the FCT today, the infrastructure will remain and the investments would still be there.
What industries are you talking about? I would love to see you expatiate and also tell me how they compare to other states in the northern region especially in my state (Kaduna). You keep ignoring another aspect that attracts investors to a state: availability of raw materials and resources. BTW, contrary to what you believe, the crime rate in Lagos is FAR WORSE than it is in so many northern states.
Sites matter a lot. For someone who wants to invest in agriculture, why would he go to the south? He will pick northern Nigeria despite all the issues that you are trying so hard to emphasize. Likewise, an investor that is interested in natural gas or oil would head to the Niger delta without blinking.
Also, you have to look at the culture. It would be foolish to choose to sell pork, bible and alcohol in the north. So there is your answer. Mineral resources, culture, and location matter a lot, Mr Rilwayne!
I know exactly what the situation is in the south. I bet you think there isn't a single road in the north. The reason you guys have that mentality is because there are far more people in the north than there are in the south. So let's say only 40% of Kano is rich and educated. 40% seems low, but 40% of Kano's population is probably three times the total population of some southern states. It's the same thing in Kaduna so it may interest you to make a little more research.
By the way, you are contradicting yourself. In one paragraph, you said your people are rich and then in another paragraph, you said poverty is pushing your youths towards yahoo
If we are to go by your logic, then the Niger Delta shouldn't have a single foreigner in their region after all the kidnappings. Also, a little research might clear your fallacy about the north having zero FDI.
To answer your claims about the north seeing education as haram, let me educate you a little. Years before the white men came to stop you people from killing twins, burying Ogbanjes and throwing people to "evil forests", the north saw Islamic education as the only form of education. In case you don't know, Danfodio did not bring Islam to northern Nigeria. We have bern reading and writing for centuries before the white men came. They brought something entirely new, and that is why till date, we are still trying to adapt.
To understand this, imagine yourself being sent to learn Chinese for the next 5 years . You will have issues but take a two year old kid to China and bring him back after 5 years. He will be far more fluent than you are. The almajiris that you people see as lesser beings often know how to read and write in Arabic. Despite all these, We never saw education as haram. We only saw it as optional. Boko haram started around 2007 by a stubborn disciple of a renowned northern scholar who was eventually killed by Boko haram.
Also, you have no idea how hard it is to learn two different things at the same time. The average southern boy would come home after school at 3pm and read his books while the average northerner will come home by 3pm, then eat and head to Islamiyya. Your people have a better chance to focus, and that is why you foolishly think you are superior. I, abduljabbar, am not fluent in Arabic, but I can write an essay in the language. I can travel to Saudi Arabia and not look mute. With blunders anf jargons , i can speak with Sudais. What about the average Tunde? He only knows Yoruba and English.
Lastly, do you know how many millions the 81 scammers in US stole? Do you know how many scammers are caught in foreign countries (where there is no Buhari)? Do you know how much Hushpuppy stole? Do you know how many poor countries that dont do yahoo exist in Africa and Asia? Continue blaming the government.
Let me tell you what the problem is: you people have superiority complex. You think you are the smartest people in the world, and you people worship money. Those that refuse to engage in crime are fools in your eyes, and that is why Yahoo is prevalent among you people. Everyone wants to make it no matter what so that he can go to IG and show off and then go to his village to collect chieftaincy title. Unless the government starts killing Yahoo boys and teaching your elders a lesson, things will not stop even if our economy becomes better than that of Singapore nagode Dan uwa....you much!! Allah yakara capacity!! |

Rich4god: Lol... That's for those who can ride horses abi, let's just watch and see.
Getting rid of the old folks won't be an easy task. The odds is against the youth. The old folks have the money, they control the country's resources and security and to cap it all, they control the youths who are touts and thugs.
So getting the task done won't be easy. you just nailed it... But we must continue educating and enlightening our fellow youths on the need to rise and revolt... Am a member of Arewa consultive forum here in kano we have gone far in educating and enlightening our people. This life as a whole is a struggle... We must not give up on this country and allow the old folks that mess up their generation to also mess up our own generation... |

Rich4god: There is something you said which is the reality... The current setting of Nigeria isn't leading us to anywhere. For me, am all out for restructuring. That's the best thing for us, if properly handled.
On the get together, we might strt advertising for it, hopefully to use it as new year celebration. sure... I'm with you!! New year celebrations is going to make sense for it as you gestured or during our Durban sallah festive period. with our Nairaland customized T-shirt on top of horses I think we are going to hit the front page! As for Nigeria... We must continue creating awareness among our fellow youths. We must face our real enemies... The old folks who keep using the advantage of our disunity to loot the future of this country with full impunity!! We must focuse more on development and industrialization not just religion. We must diplomatically revolt this system that is paving way for corruption! |

kiddkash: the old folks refuse to be removed. I am Igbo, but if they see the youths are uniting, they will put notion is peoples heads like Biafra, lazy youth, yahoo boy like magu when his sins were catching up to him, he always brought out some boys with laptops and parade them saying they are yahoo boys and the people and cameras will be fixated on them and the youths will never take a stand if you want better things, they will send DSS I don't really believe Buhari has all the powers, there are cabals that always hijack countries they never show there faces, they prefer working in the shadows hausa, fulani, yoruba, Igbo, niger delta. they are all complicit
those old men that have more than enough for up to 100 lifetimes are holding this country hostage and are still wanting more The power this old people posses is the disunity of the masses! We support and praise thieves instead of going after them... We Celebrate mediocrity... We give more attention to religion instead of development and industrialization. We must change that mentality... |

Rich4god: Arrewa my man... Are you back. I dey always like your comment when it's not about tribalism. One day we go organize Nairaland get together Kano chapter. naso...I hope to meet my fellow nairalanders in kano on a very good day... For me to show you people the positive sides of the the north... The media isn't showing you... I'm always open to welcome fellow nairalanders to my state. And for tribalism... I don't pompous bigotry and hatred for about the online banter. I want a better Nigeria or a peaceful disintegration of this country.... We can go our different ways and still trade among ourselves, we all have the potentials to survive on our own... But I still believe in a restructured Nigerian. We are not heading to the right direction with this current system of Nigeria. The current leaders are using the opportunity of the disunity among the masses to loot and embezzle the future of this country and still go scot free... We the young people must think and do the needful |

kiddkash: I just hope, everything Nigerian needs, would be made in Nigeria and owned by Nigerians instead of exporting all the time. it will create many job opportunities and even have many to be exported. we would be making money from other countries boost GDP and increase our MPS make Nigerians to start using their brains for the good of the country. go to Canada or US a lot of doctors there are Nigerians. they will take all the brains we have in our country and use for their betterment. well if there was adequate security in Nigeria and people don't breed like rabbits there would be oil dey your head... This is the Reason we must unite and kick those old folks out of power... We are not moving in the right direction |
