Air Peace to begin London, Atlanta flights Air Peace has announced its plan to launch itself on the international route, following the training of four of its pilots in the handling of Boeing 777 aircraft.The airline made the announcement in a statement issued by its Communications Manager, Mr Chris Iwarah on Thursday in Lagos. Iwarah said the training, which took place at the Boeing Training Centre in the United Kingdom, was the first by any Nigerian airline. He said the carrier’s Chief Pilots, Capt. Victor Egonu, Capt. Victor Iwo Brown, Senior First Officer Ahmad Abdullahi and First Officer Emmanuel Iwhiwhu participated in the training which ended on April 16. According to him, the airline launched its regional operations with its maiden flight to Accra-Ghana on February 16. Iwarah said Air Peace had been designated by the Federal Government to fly into Johannesburg, London, Atlanta, Mumbai, Dubai and Mumbai and Guangzhou-China. He said the airline would be acquiring more aircraft, including some B777s to beef up its rapidly growing fleet. Iwarah noted that Air Peace was going to deploy its B777 aircraft to service its long-haul routes, stressing that no Nigerian airline had ever used a B777 aircraft. 15 hours ago Air Peace (P4, Lagos) is planning to induct Boeing (BOE, Chicago O'Hare) widebody aircraft into its fleet as it prepares to begin intercontinental operations. Airline Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Allen Onyema, told ThisDay newspaper that Air Peace would use B777 equipment to operate longhaul routes to Guangzhou (China), Dubai Int'l (United Arab Emirates), Mumbai Int'l (India), Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson (United States), and London (United Kingdom) among other destinations. The flights will reportedly originate out of the southeastern Nigerian city of Enugu. It is recalled that in April last year, the Nigerian Ministry of Transport granted Air Peace route authorities to serve Niger, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Ghana, Senegal, Cameroon, and Congo regionally. Internationally, it was allocated Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson, Dubai Int'l, Guangzhou, Mumbai, and Johannesburg O.R. Tambo traffic rights. At present, Air Peace operates four B737-300s, five B737-500s, and one Do328-300 on regular flights connecting Abuja (temporarily switched to Kaduna), Benin City, Calabar, Enugu, Lagos, Owerri, and Port Harcourt Omagwa locally and Accra regionally. |

FAAN Expands Cargo Operations in Enugu Airline operators, service providers and the business community have been called upon to take advantage of the new business opportunity provided by the commencement of international cargo operations at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu. The Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Engr. Saleh Dunoma stated this in a statement following the commencement of weekly cargo flights by Ethiopian airlines on Thursday, 25th August 2016. According to Engr Dunoma, this export window provides opportunities for start-ups and cargo related businesses especially in perishable and non perishable produce. "This will enable our people participate in the export market, earn foreign exchange and contribute to the GDP of the country. " He further assured that FAAN has put in place, processes and procedures to sustain its commitment to safety, security and passenger comfort. |
Chinese investors have commended the quality of Air Peace’s flight operations, proposing a partnership with the airline to ease business trips on the Enugu-Guangzhou-Enugu routes. The Federal Government recently designated the airline to operate direct flights into Guangzhou, China. It also secured government’s approval to operate flights to Atlanta, Dubai, Johannesburg, Mumbai, among other international routes. Meanwhile, the Chairman of Air Peace, Chief Allen Onyema has urged Chinese investors to take advantage of the huge business opportunities in Nigeria by deepening their investments in the country. Speaking when she led a 20-member delegation to the corporate headquarters of Air Peace in Lagos at the weekend, President of the Overseas Investment Union of China (OIUC), Ms. Pansy Liu said the airline’s partnership is vital in achieving seamless business trips between Nigeria and China. Chairman of Air Peace, Chief Allen Onyema in handshake with the President of Overseas Investment Union of China (OIUC), Ms. Pansy Liu during the visit. She endorsed the quality of Air Peace’s flight operations, affirming that it is the fastest growing airline in Nigeria. Liu pledged to mobilise Chinese investors and aviation regulators to ensure the quick launch of Air Peace’s Enugu-Guangzhou-Enugu routes. Responding to the partnership proposal, Onyema said Air Peace, which recently launched its Lagos-Benin-Lagos and Abuja-Benin-Abuja routes, planned to deploy a Boeing 777 aircraft on the Enugu-Guangzhou-Enugu routes. He assured the Chinese investors, who were on a week-long business tour of Nigeria, that the airline chose a B777 aircraft to make trade trips from Nigeria seamless, safe and comfortable. Air Peace, Onyema said, had retained the services of some of the best facilities in the world for the maintenance of its aircraft because of the premium it placed on the safety and satisfaction of its passengers. The Head of delegation of the airline to Enugu, Mrs Firiehiwot Mekonnen, disclosed the plan in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Thursday. Mekonnen said that the airline had concluded arrangement to station freight airplanes for the take-off of the service as soon as the Ministry of Aviation gives its approval procedures, which is expected within two months. “So, we are still waiting for the approval from the Ministry of Aviation. As soon as we get the approval, we will start transporting the cargoes. “We have already submitted the request, hopefully, we start the cargo freighting to Enugu. We are expecting it to be in the near future, may be in two months’ time,’’ she said. She said Enugu had been a profitable market for the airline, which necessitates expansion of its services.
