Air Peace to begin London, Atlanta flights

Air Peace has announced its plan to launch itself on the international route, following the training of four of its pilots in the handling of Boeing 777 aircraft.The airline made the announcement in a statement issued by its Communications Manager, Mr Chris Iwarah on Thursday in Lagos.

Iwarah said the training, which took place at the Boeing Training Centre in the United Kingdom, was the first by any Nigerian airline.
He said the carrier’s Chief Pilots, Capt. Victor Egonu, Capt. Victor Iwo Brown, Senior First Officer Ahmad Abdullahi and First Officer Emmanuel Iwhiwhu participated in the training which ended on April 16.

According to him, the airline launched its regional operations with its maiden flight to Accra-Ghana on February 16.

Iwarah said Air Peace had been designated by the Federal Government to fly into Johannesburg, London, Atlanta, Mumbai, Dubai and Mumbai and Guangzhou-China.

He said the airline would be acquiring more aircraft, including some B777s to beef up its rapidly growing fleet.

Iwarah noted that Air Peace was going to deploy its B777 aircraft to service its long-haul routes, stressing that no Nigerian airline had ever used a B777 aircraft.

He added that more pilots would soon go for their training in the operation of B777 aircraft.

Air Peace (P4, Lagos) is planning to induct Boeing (BOE, Chicago O'Hare) widebody aircraft into its fleet as it prepares to begin intercontinental operations.

Airline Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Allen Onyema, told ThisDay newspaper that Air Peace would use B777 equipment to operate longhaul routes to Guangzhou (China), Dubai Int'l (United Arab Emirates), Mumbai Int'l (India), Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson (United States), and London (United Kingdom) among other destinations. The flights will reportedly originate out of the southeastern Nigerian city of Enugu.

It is recalled that in April last year, the Nigerian Ministry of Transport granted Air Peace route authorities to serve Niger, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Ghana, Senegal, Cameroon, and Congo regionally. Internationally, it was allocated Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson, Dubai Int'l, Guangzhou, Mumbai, and Johannesburg O.R. Tambo traffic rights.

At present, Air Peace operates four B737-300s, five B737-500s, and one Do328-300 on regular flights connecting Abuja (temporarily switched to Kaduna), Benin City, Calabar, Enugu, Lagos, Owerri, and Port Harcourt Omagwa locally and Accra regionally.

Looking forward to air peace flight take off from Enugwu to China in a few months.

FAAN Expands Cargo Operations in Enugu

Airline operators, service providers and the business community have been called upon to take advantage of the new business opportunity provided by the commencement of international cargo operations at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu. The Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Engr. Saleh Dunoma stated this in a statement following the commencement of weekly cargo flights by Ethiopian airlines on Thursday, 25th August 2016. According to Engr Dunoma, this export window provides opportunities for start-ups and cargo related businesses especially in perishable and non perishable produce. "This will enable our people participate in the export market, earn foreign exchange and contribute to the GDP of the country. " He further assured that FAAN has put in place, processes and procedures to sustain its commitment to safety, security and passenger comfort.

Chinese investors have commended the quality of Air Peace’s flight operations, proposing a partnership with the airline to ease business trips on the Enugu-Guangzhou-Enugu routes. The Federal Government recently designated the airline to operate direct flights into Guangzhou, China.

It also secured government’s approval to operate flights to Atlanta, Dubai, Johannesburg, Mumbai, among other international routes. Meanwhile, the Chairman of Air Peace, Chief Allen Onyema has urged Chinese investors to take advantage of the huge business opportunities in Nigeria by deepening their investments in the country. Speaking when she led a 20-member delegation to the corporate headquarters of Air Peace in Lagos at the weekend, President of the Overseas Investment Union of China (OIUC), Ms. Pansy Liu said the airline’s partnership is vital in achieving seamless business trips between Nigeria and China.

Responding to the partnership proposal, Onyema said Air Peace, which recently launched its Lagos-Benin-Lagos and Abuja-Benin-Abuja routes, planned to deploy a Boeing 777 aircraft on the Enugu-Guangzhou-Enugu routes. He assured the Chinese investors, who were on a week-long business tour of Nigeria, that the airline chose a B777 aircraft to make trade trips from Nigeria seamless, safe and comfortable. Air Peace, Onyema said, had retained the services of some of the best facilities in the world for the maintenance of its aircraft because of the premium it placed on the safety and satisfaction of its passengers. The airline, he added, had some of the most qualified and experienced pilots in its employ. “We take issues of safety seriously. It will interest you to know that we have BCT Aviation of UK here in Nigeria to maintain our aircraft 24 hours of the week because of the premium we place on safety. We have the best pilots in this country. Most of our pilots have flown for the big airlines of the world,” Onyema said. He urged Chinese investors to deepen their interests in Nigeria, saying the country has a boundless space for profitable business.

Ethiopian Airline to commence cargo flight to Enugu in August


Enugu – Ethiopian airlines says it will begin its international cargo flights into Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu within the next two months.
The Head of delegation of the airline to Enugu, Mrs Firiehiwot Mekonnen, disclosed the plan in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Thursday.
Mekonnen said that the airline had concluded arrangement to station freight airplanes for the take-off of the service as soon as the Ministry of Aviation gives its approval procedures, which is expected within two months.
“So, we are still waiting for the approval from the Ministry of Aviation. As soon as we get the approval, we will start transporting the cargoes.
“We have already submitted the request, hopefully, we start the cargo freighting to Enugu. We are expecting it to be in the near future, may be in two months’ time,’’ she said.
She said Enugu had been a profitable market for the airline, which necessitates expansion of its services.

Ethiopian Airline will commence three days a week flights from Enugu to New York on Thursday to enhance business in the South East in particular and the country in general.
The Group Chief Executive Officer of the airline, Mr GebreMariam Tewolde, announced this at the 70th Anniversary of the airline in Enugu on Wednesday.
Tewolde said the airline would commence scheduled thrice weekly flights to New York-Newark from Addis Ababa on July 3 via Lomé, Togo thereby connecting Enugu to New York.
He said the company would deploy a modern Boeing 787 Dreamliner on the route.
“For travelers flying out of Lagos through Lome to New York, the journey is about 12-hour flight as passengers will connect between New York-Newark and many cities throughout Africa.
“At Lomé, passengers will enjoy seamless connections to/from points in West Africa with ASKY, Ethiopian partner airline based in Lomé.
“Connections will be available to/from Abidjan, Bamako, Bissau, Brazzaville, Conakry, Dakar, Douala, Kinshasa, Lagos, Libreville, N’djamena, Niamey, Ouagadougou, Yaoundé etc.
“We are very pleased that Ethiopian Airline has taken the leadership role in Africa and is among the few leading airlines in the world to invest in this latest technology and efficient flying machine.
“Operating the youngest fleet in the industry with modern and comfortable customer features in cabin is one of the four pillars of our vision 2025, 15 years strategic road map and the introduction of the A-350 is one component of this strategy.

Hopefully, as from the first quarter of next year, the likes of Air Peace, Emirates, Lufthansa and Ethiopian airlines would be using the new facility.
The new terminal would adequately house those airlines because its passenger capacity is 2 million per year. I would support any plan to expand it to 40 or 50,000 sq km, with a new 30,000sq km domestic terminal. Both terminals should be connected via a tunnel/corridor.
With the promise to stop the importation of Aviation fuel within the next 2 years after the PH refinery and Orient refinery come on stream, the intl tickets to and for Enugu wouldn't be costly.

Air Peace said in April that they will start their Enugu to China flight in some months time...may be they are waiting for the new terminal to be completed or that they haven't procured the planes for the international flights.

Can't wait to land at the new terminal in December.

The poster was implying that Air Peace international operations may not commence due to the alleged pot holes on the runway which I think is all politics.

Chairman, Heir Holdings, Mr. Tony Elumelu, fired the first salvo, when, on the opening day, he called on governments of the South-East geopolitical zone to forge a partnership that will drive the regional economy of the zone.

The summit Christened, ”Beyond Oil: Fostering Inclusive Economic Growth and Sustainable Development” Elumelu who is equally on the board of United Bank of Africa, UBA and Transcorp Hotel, in his keynote speech said, “Enugu State is on the path of economic repositioning with the hosting of this summit. There should be a collaboration from other sister states in the South-East to establish a framework for regional partnership which will position the region to undertake capital intensive projects that will affect the economy.



“This summit is a means to an end. The end is the economic revolution of the state and beyond. With this summit, the state has placed itself on the path of economic revolution. Issues that scare away prospective investors like multiple taxation should be avoided like Kaduna State government did”.

AKANU IBIAM CLEARED TO OPERATE FLIGHTS TO US, CHINA, INDIA

The announcement on the closing day of the summit that the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Emene, Enugu State has been approved for international flight operations to and from Atlanta, United States of America, USA, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Johannesburg, South Africa, Mumbai,India and Gwuanzuo, China received thunderous applause.

This revelation was made by the Chairman, Air Peace, Allen Onyema, who equally announced that Air Peace has been approved as National Carrier into the five countries by the Federal Government.

Onyema said, “Two weeks ago, President Muhammadu Buhari approved Air Peace as the National Carrier. This means that Air Peace will be flying directly into Atlanta, United States of America, USA, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Johannesburg.,South Africa, Mumbai, India and Gwuanzuo, China.

“I have chosen to operate from Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu as the capital of the South-East geopolitical zone. I am determined to make Enugu an industrial nerve centre to restore its pride of place as was the case in the early eighties. This means that businesses in Enugu and the entire South-East states will experience a boom.

“No airline flies directly into these countries from the East, West and Central Africa at the moment. This is a major breakthrough for the Igboman. Operations will commence in May and Enugu should be ready for it”.

The cargo warehouse has already been completed and commissioned by Nahco aviance since last year.
