@Spyder880,
An architect in Owerri gave me a quote of 265,000 naira for a two story, 6×3 bedroom flats building plan. According to the architect, it includes the following:

Structural plan
Electrical plan
Mechanical plan (I have never heard of mechanical plan)
4D diagram (not sure if 4d exist. I am aware of 3d's only)
Estimate of construction cost list stage by stage.

Dont you think that the quote is expensive?
Dont you think that the only thing that I need is the structural and electrical plan?

10 thousand blocks, average.
Thanks @Spyder880.

It should be 9 inch block as you mentioned in the other post.

Do the flats share the same facade\verandah on the back of the building as per the design of the flats you are building?

How much will your architect charge to design similar flats(6 by 3 bedroom flats)?

Nnewi1stSon: The Turkish airline proposal was more of politics than reality. I watched the rally live on TV and almost fell for the hoax until I heard the Vice President including KLM,BA, "German Airline" "French Airline" undecided. And there was no MoU signed,at least not that I saw.
They said that they will be signing the MOU on Monday 29th of september I believe.

For me, seeing is believing. We just have to wait and see.

Turkish Airlines to fly Enugu International airport

Nigeria and Turkey will on Monday sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Turkish Airline to commence operation at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, Vice President Namadi Sambo said on Thursday. Sambo said this on Thursday in Enugu during the rally organised by a group known as the Enugu Movement for the Re-election of Jonathan, .

He said that five Turkish airlines would be joining their Ethiopian counterpart, the only airline currently operating at the airport. “This is going to be a big feat because five airlines from Turkey will be departing from the airport per week. “We are going to have all the world’s airlines here because we want to make Enugu the hub of business in the aviation sector,” he said.

The Vice President said that locating the International Helicopter Flying School in the state had given it the leverage to grow in the sector. “More workers will be deployed at the helipad built by the state government and this will boost the state’s economy.” Sambo said that the Federal Government had approved the sum of N220 million for Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (MSMEs) in the state.

He said that the Federal Government had also put modalities in place for the establishment of a gas pipeline to generate 1,000 mega watts of electricity in Enugu state.

“We are doing everything to ensure that the state is improved in terms of power supply to support economic activities of the people here.

“The Federal Government has also concluded plans to employ 12 million Nigerians in the next eight months,” Sambo said.

Earlier, Gov Sullivan Chime pledged the support and loyalty of the government and people of the state for President Goodluck Jonathan.

According to Chime, “all we do in Enugu, we owe to the President and PDP”.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that dignitaries at the event included the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim, former Senate President, Chief Ken Nnamani and Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra.

Others are former governors of the old Anambra and Enugu states, Chief Jim Nwobodo and Dr Okwesilieze Nwodo respectively, and the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Prof. Rufai Ahmed, among others

Enugu government to build cargo shed at state international airport

The Governor of Enugu State, Sullivan Chime has disclosed his government’s intention to establish cargo shed at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport.

The governor disclosed this when some officers of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) visited him in his office on Monday.

He said the cargo shed must be built in order to fully harness the benefits of the new status of the airport.

He promised that his government would partner with NAGAFF towards actualizing the ideas put forward by the association.

The governor commended the association for its giant strides in logistics and supply chain management.

Earlier in his speech, the NAGAFF President Chief Eugene Nweke informed the governor that his association was in the state to exploit the possibility of partnering with the state government to key into the lucrative business of air cargo industry.

Nweke advised the Enugu state government to encourage and sponsor youths in the state to go into the freight forwarding business while keying into the e-commerce portal.

He urged the state government to collaborate with the State Chamber of Commerce and the Shippers Association to take advantage of the opportunities in the international alliance like the Singapore Alliance so as to share products and services as well as capabilities.

He appealed to the governor to take steps towards enhancing manpower development in the industry through proper training of youths and other freight forwarders for the upliftment of the profession

On 30th December, ethiopian airline used bigger aircraft boeing 757-200 for the enugu route. From the 1st of january 2014, et will start using 767-300 for enugu route.

I guess this shows that passenger traffic is on the increase on the enugu route.

kostadinis: ''For a new International route, we are doing well". This was the response to my question from one of the Ethiopian airline's Air Hostesses. I flew through Akanu Ibiam Airport Enugu enroute to Paris on the 27th November. On that very day, the flight had landed in the Coal City with about 149 passengers on board. There after, we were about 100 in number that departed for Addis Ababa. My own assesment is that the route is doing very well. That said, this airline is not doing much in terms of creating awareness of their presence in the city. Some Importers that i met at Kenyatta do not even know about them in the very city they're living. They still go to Lagos to board Turkish airlines, Emirates etc. for their business trips. You can then guess the awareness in Aba, Onitsha and the industrial power house that is Nnewi.

I must point out that one of the two ladies at the airline's desk in the Shoprite Complex was/is so unfriendly. Entering into the office, her desk is on the left. The airline would have to do something about this lady before she scares away all their customers. She does not know that her job deserves politeness to a customer who is paying hundreds of thousands of Naira.

On the other hand, Nigeria's FAAN must hurry up and provide passengers with temporary eateries within the airport complex. No single one yet. Passengers had to go to the "bukas" under the trees outside the building to refresh themselves. And once you've been screened for departure it becomes all the more difficult to buy a bottle of Fanta for yourself while waiting to board. That said, this temporary International terminal looks good. The airport management should start allocating the new shop spaces within the complex as quick as possible. Pictures of the on-going construction of the Interminal terminal may be difficult to get as the site is a bit removed from the current facility. The information I got from the airport staffers was that work is in progress. The immigation, customs, NDLEA staff are all looking forward to more active days. For those who may want to depart Enugu with food stuffs, the rules are now stricter. After a protracted argument and a tough back-room deal, i was allowed to part with my Dry fish. Their new Agric department now insists every food item must be "properly" packaged and with special transparent bags from Rouban Stores. Enugu is a great city and one for the future. I'll definitely retire there for good.
Thanks for the update. I am really happy that passenger traffic at the airport is increasing. Ethiopian airline should be advised to continue to create awareness on their presence in Enugu and also in the entire south east...how I wish I had their contact details in Ethiopia so that I can write to them.

henrychubayo: Well in order to fly to Enugu airport, i had to get an Ethiopian Visa. One thing is that i never applied direct. i used an agent and because these guys are not Nigerians and are trustworthy. Since i would spend a day before connecting to Enugu, i will be needing the visa i guessed though am not sure how others have done theirs. Seems like i will be among the first to taste the bigger plane to Enugu on the 1st January 2014. Flying to Abuja is betterfor me because of something important but to promote Enugu, i will land in Enugu and then find my way to Abuja the next day. Its all good. If others can do these as well, Enugu will be great and commanding large number of passengers to Nigeria.
Dont forget to take pictures of passengers inside the aircraft. We will like to see how not empty it is.

Boeing 767 300er have more seating capacity than the one they are currently using(737 800) for Enugu route. It looks like passenger traffic has increased on the ETH - ENU route.
