giselle237: Ukvi will not deny you and state the reason is because you are paying insufficient ties to Inland Revenue of Nigeria, that’s not their business. Try and work on your ties to Nigeria and close ALL possible loopholes for a denial. thank you I’d do that, I don’t know if you’d remember but I’ve actually applied before, gotten a date, travelled for submission and canceled a day before submission. I posted it all here on January 2024, lol. I’m not in a haste. I decided to work on myself after that visited 6 countries so far, visiting china next month for business too. Just want this uk visa as it’ll enable me to even be eligible for some countries e-visa that require at least a valid Uk visa |

davodyguy: That's local government tax, more like trade permit.
This is different from PIT.
It's the LIRS that will tell you your PIT for the past 3 years, so you can obtain TCC Tax Clearance Certificate. I got mine for 2021, 2022 &2023 which was submitted to UKVI
With what you said you earn, your annual tax should not be less than ₦1million if you're to be properly assessed.
Your annual tax should be between 10-21% of the ₦24m you said you earn annually This is so detailed, thank you so much I appreciate |

My travel purpose is tourism at the same time I would like to dedicate a day to fly to another Schengen country to source for suppliers for my business (not buying any product, just sourcing suppliers for future business transactions) Can I mention this in the itinerary and cover letter? Born2conquer: I saw this late Sha, UK is pretty straightforward and so far you can defend your transactions with evidence, and you have a balance of like 15M that hasn't been touched in the last 28days, you will get the visa. You already have a business and they know you will come back Saii, you know another issue was that I had issues with my cac and I never paid taxes It was a 50-50 situation and I don’t want to taint my record with a denial that was avoidable, and the trip is not even urgent it’s genuinely leisure Im just looking at the bright side, visited Alaba for the first time, got cheap goods and contacts. I will try again in 6 months

hunee: Good. I like when people bring themselves to this level of understanding. Saves you from a potential refusal. Now you have canceled, Let us look at correcting the loopholes. 1. Ensure your cac is active, make sure anyone who processes it for you, gives you the acknwledgement letters from the corporate affairs commission as it will form part of the documents you will submit on your next application. 2. Open a special account. The reason i tagged it as a special is because, it is mainly for visa applications. dont load too many monies in it, some can refer to it as salary account. 3. Create a very simple and less payment process for the account, let say annually you earn 5m, pay between 3/400k there monthly(I just sighted an example) Your annual income must or must not exceed what is in your bank statement, ONLY IF, you can explain quintessentially reasons for the discrepancies as seen in many refusal notes. 4.Your supporting documents should be solid enough to prove you are ingenuine. Evidences of contract or deals, your brother who resides in the US can help you with some personal documents too as support, Family pictures, Properties, Shares and Investments receipt, Others. 5. Please take note, what we aim by all this is to give a straight information about yourself, you do not want to be presenting lump sums again. so take it easy on the accounts which you will be opening as regards transactions, so you dont have to start explaining and explaining with cover letters(Which i am not even going to support as you are a first time applicant)
Lastly, you can do 1 country if you can before you apply again, sometime around March. Maybe Kenya or Sa (If you have the resources) Please, we sure will be glad to guide you through and be free to come again here for more inputs if the need arises. Goodevening and Enjoy Lagos! Thank you so much, I’ve screenshotted all these and will use them as future guidelines Please do you know if tls would automatically refund me as I’ve cancelled, or do have to take an action? |

Newbiein2016: Cancelling was the best decision as this was getting complicated.
Instead of March, may I suggest you take the next 6 months to just cleanup your account. Get an account where you pay yourself a monthly salary (could be one of the personal accounts you mentioned). Do ensure only your salary is being paid in and only your estimated monthly expenditures are being deducted/withdrawn from here.
Whilst your earning potential demonstrates financial ties, there's just a lot going on with your accounts & given that you don't have a strong travel history to indicate frequent leisure trips of this nature, you need to ensure your application is well put together & can convince the VO that you are a genuine traveller. Thanks a lot |

hunee: In cases like this, it would interest readers to understand the processes involved for applications do not mostly evolve around the highlighted. A straight application void off many commas is usually the best. if i saw your post earlier , i would advise you not to apply yet. Many would say, who am i to say such? Well, they are right, i am not a visa officer , neither do i work for the UK embassy. But for someone who has valid visas for some of these countries and have gone through the process a number of times, i think i can have some say on issues like this. This application is hurriedly done, and it is just 24hrs , what can we even begin to correct? My recommendations I would advise you to write an explanation or a cover for your finances in details. I would advise you fix your cac concerns I would advise you to draft a convincing letter of introduction I would also suggest senior men and women in the house , the experienced ones to come and assist this person.
Thank you. You’re very right, it was hurriedly done I’ve already cancelled, I’d just enjoy Lagos tomorrow and travel back as planned on Friday, I really appreciate your inputs Abroad no be something wey dey hungry me like that, wetin dey pain me na the 250k I waste for to&fro flight and hotel Please I have questions as I’d be applying in March what to I need to avoid. 1. I want to be paying myself salary from this January - how much do you think my opening balance should be? 2. How much should the opening balance for my business account be too? 3. How many months before intended travel date should I apply Thanks Hunee AmeliaT

AmeliaT: 3. Oh wow. So you used personal accounts and not a business account? Hmmm. I’m honestly not sure about this. @hunee please shed some more light.
I’m not sure it shows you to be a legitimate business owner who pays himself a salary. I would honestly prefer you clean up the accounts and come back in three months to avoid the taint in your record.
Or are you going for something urgent?
5. Awesome!
8. Well done!
You’re most welcome! I’m not going for anything urgent I think I’ll just cancel my application Will tls refund me pls? |
Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Arry110(m): 3:46pm On Dec 27, 2023 |
AmeliaT: 1. Well done. Fix the CAC issue urgently.
2. You can worry about tax later. CAC is the most pressing concern.
3. I noted that you did include an explanation for large deposits. I hope you included your own personal account and not just business. If it was just business, I seriously advise that you get your personal account statement, Explain any discrepancies and upload. You can’t float with just a business account. Many times, they have rejected people for this and say “while we note that your business account has a balance of 10m, we do not believe that these funds are accessible to you for personal use. If you can’t submit your personal account because it’s not fit, I advise you immediately withdraw, postpone your ticket and get your personal account in order and reapply in March. Or what do you think @hunee and @giselle?
4. Okay. Evidence of your relationship with your siblings, any property, the impact your business makes, charities, Church etc.
8. Nice itinerary. Well done. I however think it needs to be more realistic. There’s no time accounted for shopping, meeting up or visiting markets, meeting people? No lie-ins ? I also trust that you verified the prices of these tours you included and these aren’t old? Did you also check that they’re all open the time of the year you want to visit ? Some activities are closed over winter and many of them not frequented during winter due to the harsh weather conditions. Be mindful of that. 3. The issue is that I have 2 personal accounts and the mistake I made is that I just use the 2 for business, do you know how I can explain this in my cover letter, and if I want to explain the lump sums in the other it would be a collective explanation cause it’s over 200 pages of bank transactions (6months too) And I never paid myself salary , I put back whatever I made into my business most times 5, yes I included them, even visits to the family of my aunt and uncle but didn’t want to post the lower part of the itinerary here cause it contains their address. The issues with my bank account is my biggest worry 8, yes I did my research well, I even discovered the London Eye would be closed at the time of my arrival, that’s why I included only the London eye river cruise You’ve been of great help to me , thanks again |

AmeliaT: Hiya,
Looks like you’re doing well for yourself but to have a Straightforward application, I’d like to advise the following:
1. Register your business if you haven’t already.
2. Open a business account and use this for all your business transactions. Make sure they’re clearly documented, you pay tax etc.
3. Maintain a clean and separate personal account where you will pay yourself a standard monthly salary from the business. Make sure there are no other deposits into this personal account. From this personal account, make your personal expenditure and make sure you’re saving an amount monthly, let’s assume 30%. You can leave the 50% in the account monthly or transfer to a savings account.
So, imagine you pay yourself 1m a month and you spend 500 monthly and the other 500k is left there, then after 6 months, you’ll have 3m.
4. Provide a strong cover letter explaining the nature of your business and the transactions, how much you pay yourself, your family ties etc.
5. Add all your supporting evidence for the business.
6. Add evidence of ties to Nigeria.
7. To increase your chances, you may want to travel somewhere else first. E.g. Kenya, Morocco, South Africa etc
8. For this First time trip, don’t plan to stay more than 2 weeks. Because this impacts the budget you need to take. I’m not sure why people plan/declare long stays. I’ve lived in Nigeria for 10 years and have never been out of the country for more than 4 weeks at a time. No productive person plans to vacation for such long periods unless retired or faced with extenuating circumstances.
Do all this and I believe you can apply in another 6 months just to be on the safe side.
I hope this is helpful! Goodluck ! Thank you so much Omo I’ve already applied and I’m even on my way to Lagos for biometrics tomorrow, my flight leaves by 12 1. My business was registered in 2019, I was 18 by then but i discovered yesterday that my cac account is inactive as I’ve never made annual returns, with this short time frame my plan is to work on it immediately after my biometrics (I don’t mind paying extra to fast track it at cac) 2. Number 2 issue is that I’ve never paid tax before, please can you tell me how to do it let me see if I can pay it today 3. Wish I had done this earlier 4. I’m working on this, I don’t know if I have strong family ties here, my parents are late and were buried in the US, I have 4 siblings, 1 is in the US and 3 of us are here 8, I only put 9 days in my application and also made a detailed itinerary

Newbiein2016: Firstly, if you want instant answers, get an immigration lawyer.
No one owes you a response on this crowd-sourced forum. Either you wait till folks with knowledge are online or you pay experts for this.
Let's always be mindful and respectful.
Is there a question that requires this on the form? I don't recall seeing any such thing.
You will be asked about refusals from other countries, but there's no provision to respond to a pending immigrant application.
Now, if you were thinking of including this to demonstrate ties, you might need to provide all documents including a stamped version from the USG stating your approval. But, I understand that you should have an immigrant visa as the evidence of a final approval (if you haven't gotten a greencard yet), so if you are still at the stage pending your interview, I'm unsure how helpful that will be. what part of my post was disrespectful, try Dey calm abeg |
