The two numbers you saw there is what makes it a multi-grade oil and both represents the temperatures expected in your engine at the two extremes.

Have you been a Lubricants testing laboratory before? There is a reason why viscosity, foaming tendency are tested at two temperatures.

What do you know about pour point? What is the reason for using pour point depressants in lubricants?

I have an issue with my car.

I normally use Castrol engine oil to service the engine since I have been using it some a few years ago.

Recently, castrol 20w50 engine oil is no longer available in the market which has become a big issue.

I used a foreign engine oil recommended for servicing and a week after, I realised that my car starts smoking (white), I thought it would soon be over but it's getting worse and the oil is shorting.

15W40 available in Nigeria is for CI Engines. Is yours a CI engine? If it's not, you can use 5W30 on it or 10W40 if you can get. Castrol stop start will work perfectly ... Get it at any Eterna PLC retail outlets
