PhonesRe: Nigeria Fines Telecom Giant MTN $5bn by asEdeyHOT: 1:01pm On Oct 26, 2015
This is a good development

A clear message to businesses. You are welcome to do business in Nigeria but it should not be about profit making alone. You must provide the services that your subscribers and customers pay for.

What MTN cannot try in SA or Kenya, they do in Nigeria because successive administrations have never held them to account.

This Buhari's administration has been damn too slow but the actions are well thought out and targeted.
PoliticsRe: Rivers Rerun: APC, Buhari Scheming To Make Rivers and Nigeria Ungovernable? by asEdeyHOT: 6:10pm On Oct 25, 2015
Another thread full of assumptions, conspiracy theories and unsubstantiated innuendos

Do you have any evidence for all these accusations you have made against the PMB and APC?

If you have any evidence, can you pass them to the relevant authorities or provide it on this forum or any social media outlet.

I know what the problem is, you are scared almost to the case of defecating on yourself, you can see the handwriting on the wall. All your political predictions have failed to occur.

You know that Rivers people will now honor the Gentleman arrangement that ensures that there is power-sharing between the vested interests in the state.

You know Wike will lose the elections and it scares you that the PDP you now belong to is imploding before your eyes

You are from Okrika, stop making noise online. Go and campaign for Wike in your village instead of writing nonsense on NL.

Ileke, you don't get the gist, iyalode's fear I have it too, I'd like my kids to watch yoruba movies so as tto be grounded in the language like their parents...... Unfortunately, its the Oshodi area boys that have their praises sang in virtually 3 of 5 movies these days with some even giving them cameo roles....

Some youths on the other hand are budding olamide, lik kesh or reminisce with zero talents to back it up!! angry

We have a perfect mixture of the good, the bad ,the ugly & the downright horrible!!!
Absolutely!

But can you tell me any ethnic/tribal group or race on this planet that does not have that composition that you have aptly described?

At the end of the day we are social animals and our behavior, outlook in life and how we decide to interact with fellow human beings is 'largely' determined by environmental factors. You could make an argument that some behavioral patterns are innate, which of course is correct in some cases.

My take on this is that there are factors that differentiate societies. While I agree that some of the characters that you have identified should not be role models for Yoruba children and youths, I will rather look at it from an holistic perspective. Unless I am mistaken, the average Yoruba family still has that Awolowo inspired thirst for knowledge and desire to dominate Nigeria intellectually, we are socially inclined and as a collective, decent human beings.

I think the main issue is the percentage of people that fall into the categories that you have highlighted. I am 100% sure that the majority of Yorubas are good people, accommodating and unbelievably determined.

Personally, I am not worried about the future Yoruba generations. We have that foundation and no matter how much we stray, we always come back to the fundamentals of Yoruba tradition of respect, humanity and industry.

@ Thread

I will like to thank the OP for starting this thread. Well overdue. And as we can all notice, the quality of debates and discussion is unparalleled. Unsurprisingly!

The UK's most influential YouTube creators have been named in a top 10 list produced for the BBC. How do self-made stars like these become famous around the world? And are they taking over from traditional celebrities?

Tubular Labs has created a list of the top 10 most influential UK creators for the BBC.

At the very top is Olajide "JJ" Olatunji, who dropped out of college, but has made $4.5m (£2.9m) in the past year, according to a Forbes list of the world's highest-paid YouTube stars.

The 22-year-old, from Watford, has more than 10 million subscribers on his KSI YouTube channel and a "social reach" of 17.4 million when other social media platforms are taken into account.

He is best known for filming himself playing computer games while commentating on them, but he also makes comedy videos and more typical vlogs.

His vlogs include one where he decided to dye his hair blond and another in which he filmed himself for a week to give his viewers a chance to see what he does when he's not posting YouTube videos.

KSI's brother Deji Olatunji, known as ComedyShortsGamer, is in second place on the list.

His videos appear to concentrate more on comedy than gaming, with one of his most popular being a prank where he told his mother he had made a girl pregnant.

Another first hand account that confirms Igbo cannibalism and wickedness

The writer witnessed the butchering of his uncle and he was then dismembered and his body parts sold in a Biafra market.

Interesting......

The murders and atrocities committed by biafran soldiers confirms the lies by Igbos that they were only defending themselves against aggression from Northern Nigeria. The real cause of the war was Igbo greed and an attempt to gain access to oil in the Niger Delta. As soon as Gowon created Rivers State and removed it from the former eastern region, Ojukwu went mad

This is the same strategy that Igbos are using today with their fake love for the SS.

The original report on attainment in UK schools is fine @omonnakoda. It is the willful distortion of facts by @OP that is blatantly dishonest.
Look at the usual band of NL urchins jerk..ing off to claims of racial superiority. Not fully satisfied with standing the logic on its head, they've now taken to distorting history with claims that reside in the realms of phantasm.
How is it fine?

How were they able to determine which student comes from Yoruba, Ibo background? Did the students or their parents fill out a questionnaire? Were they interviewed? Or did they make conclusions based on their names?

Can the OP give us a link to the actual journal this research was published in??

Now, how do you expect me to be arguing this issue like I was in kindergarten? If the target of the robbery is a close person to the president who is in possession of security documents on the fight against insurgency, tell me why in the world the DSS shouldnt take over the robbery investigation? And what moral rights do you have as a citizen to question their involvement in matters which border on state security based on the sensitivity or magnitude?

jlinkd78:
It is becoming very clear dat Olisa Metuh is far more intelligent and articulate as a spokesman than Lai Mohammed.

He presents his arguement with sound logic, verifiable facts, on d point questions and above all good balance of grammar vis-a-vis rule of concord/proximity devoid of insults, character bashing and pettiness.

On d oda hand, Mr Mohammed tells a lot of lies or better put half truths, very confrontational , arrogant and logic filled with innuendos. I just wonder how come d 'lai' in his name has exposed him to much 'lies'. Watch out for his response to this constructive criticism on him by Metuh and see how he will 'cleverly' avoid d burning issues. U can be sure Mr Mohammed like most of us including me never knew d DSS wasnt d equivalent of CIA but rather d FBI. Metuh has in one piece told d APC spokesman dat d tutorial shd b d oda way with him Metuh d tutor and Mohammed d tutee. If we all accept we learn everyday, apologise when we err and learn to thank n appreciate others then this country will be a lot better for us all. Mr Mohammed over to ur answer which am sure will be filled with hate rhetorics. Metuh has created a verb out of 'lai' with d past tense being 'lai-ed' without even seeming insulting but has no doubt passed a message.
In a statement released on Saturday, Olisa Metuh, the PDP
spokesman, described APC as “a party of shameless and
desperate liars”,
saying that the spate of lies churned out by
the APC and its spokesperson in the desperation to
suppress the truth is not only reprehensible but also
symptomatic of lack of character.
Really??
