Case closed, PDP should find another excuse. She even recused herself voluntarily, the other judges on the panel dismissed the petition. If she had any hidden agenda, she would have stayed on the trial since the petition was dismissed. PDP are just holding on to straws.

PDP keep on showing their ignorance and desperation day in day out. The Appeal Court panel comprises of 5 justices, including the President of the Court of Appeal. She might not even get to deliver her own judgement in the case. once a majority verdict has been made, her influence is no longer there. only when there is a tie, that is when her judgement will be heard, a possibility that is Highly unusual.

Politics / Re: NJC Advises Buhari To Retire Onnoghen Over $1.7m Cash by asfrank(m): 4:54am On Apr 04, 2019
kahal29:
It has happened.......

Meanwhile From Cable News

EXCLUSIVE: NJC Recommends Onnoghen For Retirement

The National Judicial Commission (NJC) has recommended Walter Onnoghen, chief justice of Nigeria (CJN), for compulsory retirement, TheCable understands.

After deliberating on the petition filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday, members of the NJC unanimously agreed that Onnoghen has lost the moral authority to continue as CJN with the litany of allegations bordering on misconduct.

The NJC — which handles disciplinary issues of judicial officers — sat under the interim leadership of Umaru Abdullahi, former president of the court of appeal, who had to act because Onnoghen was already under suspension.

The council also concluded that Tanko Muhammad did not commit any offence by making himself available to be sworn in as acting CJN without the recommendation of the NJC.

These recommendations have been passed to President Muhammadu Buhari for approval, Soji Oye, the council’s director of information, informed the media on Wednesday, although he did not make the details public.

WHAT NEXT NOW?

TheCable can report, however, that the president still has to seek the approval of the senate for Onnoghen to be retired if he wants to follow the CJN route.

This will require two-thirds majority of the upper legislative chamber.

Section 292 (1) of the 1999 constitution says a “judicial officer shall not be removed from his office or appointment before his age of retirement except in the following circumstances – (a) in the case of – (i) Chief Justice of Nigeria… by the President acting on an address supported by two-thirds majority of the Senate.”

Onnoghen is also undergoing trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) over allegations of false asset declaration — and if found guilty, he could be removed.

ROAD TO RETIREMENT

Buhari suspended Onnoghen on January 25, 2019 following an order made by the CCT.

TheCable had reported how the Anti-Corruption and Research Based Data Initiative (ARDI), a civil society group, launched the legal move to remove Onnoghen.

The group had filed a petition against him at the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) over alleged false declaration of assets.

The CCB is empowered by the constitution to investigate public officers, after which it would forward its findings to the appropriate body for trial if the allegations are confirmed.

It had listed a number of allegations against Onnoghen — notably false declaration of assets.

https://www.thecable.ng/exclusive-njc-recommends-onnoghen-for-retirement

The President does not need the Approval of the Senate to remove Him if the recommendation is from the NJC. He only needs it when he is doing so without any Approval from the NJC. read section 292(1)(b)

Politics / Re: Ghana Government Sends Delegates To Understudy The Lagos-Ibadan Rail Project by asfrank(m): 8:03pm On Mar 30, 2019
Buhari has really tried. if the rail system is rejuvenated, a lot of pressure will be lifted from the roads, and this creates employment also. Ameachi has also given this project the much needed attention, with this type of commitment, assessing loans and grants for infrastructure development might not prove a challenge.

Another dump political analysis. So other contenders CANNOT promise juicy appointments. Every time Saraki this Saraki that... why did Gbajabiamila lost to Dogara in 2015. .. Fact is allow these adults to choose their leader. You can do coded lobby for your preferred candidate against giving order... or choosing for them... there is no party supremacy in Nigeria politics na. Na so una/Adams make mouth say they’ll remove Saraki... how market...shiorr
Mr, It's not about other contenders. it's about Who has the Strongest Hand. like I said if at all you paid close attention to what I wrote, instead of rushing to criticize. once Lawan has majority of the APC senators with Him then forget it. The difference in terms of numbers between APC nd PDP in the Senate this time around is wideder. Mr Goje who PDP were creaming his name has already declared his support for Lawan, Same as APC cocus in the current 8th senate.

Those ecpecting a repeat of 2015 will be in for a shocker. APC started this early, which means they have enough Time to pacify aggrieved persons. People think PDP senators will not support Lawan, that they would rather play the waiting game, until a mutineer shows up from APC. well this is how it's going to pan out. Once the Candidature of Lawan has been accepted by majority of the APC senators, getting a handful from PDP is a small thing, all he needs to do is promise juicy committee chairmanships for support and that's all. 2015 Saraki played a fast one because the leadership of the party was too weak. Osho BaBa ain't Oyegun.

Hmmn but it's mostly the poor who pay VAT, big men try to find a way not to.
No offense, but I think you don't really know what VAT is. Once anyone whether poor or rich buys a product that is not exempted, the person has already paid the tax. And the thing there is that the same amount the poor man is paying as VAT is the same the rich man is paying, regardless of the price they bought the product for. You buy from the market, a rich man shops in a mull, prices for items may be higher in the mull but VAT remains the same.

The gubernatorial elections results in Kano should tell you that Buhari rigged the presidential elections to his favour.

Atiku was not expected to win Kano but it is the margin we are challenging. Atiku was expected to get at least 40%.

And by the way, why are you attacking Igbos fir rightfully rejecting APC buy at the same time praising Ab0kis for same action?
I don't blame you, if you have visited the North and spent some time there, you would have realized that Buhari has no single challenger there. It's only ignorance that makes the Rat challenge the Cat to a battle. see for your information, if elections are conducted in the North 1million times, Buhari will still win against any northern politician. You think they value thieves up there the way thieves are valued down south? look at what is happening to Ganduje, if not for that video of him collecting bribe he would have swept the state. Why do think a lot of people hate Atiku even his own kinsman? Buhari has a simple life, you don't see him with lavish wealth even though he has it, and that is how majority of the northerns like him, same with Umar Musa YarAdua. Guys like IBB, even Dangote will lose if he contest in the North I have to be sincere with you.

Hatred will continue to blind some people for life. The Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria came into to office in 2014, his tenure is about to end and he has been asked to embark on terminal leave just like every other civil servant. but as usual fools whose minds have been eaten up by hate can't see things that way. If Buhari wanted to sack him, he would have done that as soon as he took office in 2015 but he let the guy continue, that one idiots will not see it.

i stand to be corrected
you are correct. the Electoral Act provides for Death of the contestant Before and after election have been conducted and a winner declared. After election, the running mates assumes office but before election the party can choose someone else to take the place of the deseased.
