I thank the Almighty God who made everything possible for me. I thank every member of this thread who have been there for me right from the early stage of the application process.

I slept in a friend's room (@doctoroma) at henry carr hostel, unilag postgraduate school, woke up at 3:15 and join a cab at unilag gate at exactly 4:25. I got to the embassy too early (4:45) and had to wait at the gate b4 it was finally opened at 5:15. At 6:00am, we were checked in, documents were checked and we finally landed in the consulate building where I got the number A003. My number flashed at counter 14, did the biometrics, primary documents were collected and I was asked to wait for my number to flash again. We waited for like 15 minutes b4 the VOs came around and the main interview started. Several applicants were interviewd b4 me, some accepted and some denied, I was so nervous but I kept my cool. Finally my number (A003) flashed at window 6 and I moved straight to the VO, a male in his early or late 40s I think. The interview lasted for like 1mins, this is how it went down

Me: Good morning sir, hw was your night
VO: fine thank you, how are you today
VO: you are Ashimi ...
me: yes sir
vo: I can see you are going for a master's degree in mathematics
me: yes sir
vo: do you write SAT (i quickly corrected him that its gre)
me: yes sir
vo: can i see your score card
me: i quickly gave him, he checked and returned
vo: what is your last degree and from which sch
me: mathematics from lagos state university (LASU)
vo: can i see your certificate
me: I gave it to him, he checked for some seconds and confirmd
the authenticity
vo: I can see you have an assitanship, in what form
me: its a teaching assistanship sir
vo: what will you do with your MS degree
me: I will come back to Nigeria to become a researcher and a college professor in computational mathematics.
vo: so who will pay for the rest
me: my dad
vo: what does he so
me: he is an aviation consultant for airlines and nigeria airforce
vo: your visa has been approved, pick it up at dhl V.I

it was simply God's favour, only gre and my BSc certificate were checked. No questions like why are u goin 2 US, hw many schs did u apply to, he didnt even ask me the name of the sch. I only made sure i maintaind eye contact with the VO all through th process I spoke confidently. All the same, it was God.

Thank you so much once again and to those that are yet to go for their interview, I wish u all success.

Sorry about the errors, I'm stucked in trafic along badagry express road, so I used my phone to type.
Cheers!

Prof Eze: Hello House,

I am very sorry for just posting how my interview went. I give all glory to God for its success. I also thank these people who are already studying in the States: Wale in Florida and Moni in Kansas.

My Profile: GRE; 170 Quant, 150 Verbal; TOEFL iBT; 109; Assistantship; RA (with ~$2,000 more than the required fund for a year).

Pre-Interview: My interview was on Thursday June 5 in Lagos. On Wednesday June 4th, I was at MFM headquarters to pray for divine presence. I had read this thread from part 1 up to the eve of my interview. Some of my friends who are in the states had already told me that I should just go and pick up my visa since the department is providing full funding, even in excess of $2,000. Still, I prayed and read this thread very well (even though it's time consuming).

Interview Day: I woke up 4:00 a.m. at my friend's house in Somolu and eventually got to the embassy at 5:18am in the heavy raining. My appointment was for 6:30am. My 1-20, GTB visa payment receipt, DS-160 confimation page as well as appointment confirmation print out alongside my int. passport were collected. After the biometric data capture, my number prompted up for the proper interview. My interview spanned about 30sec. Here is it;

VO: (No greetings o) You are Mr XYZ going to the University of xxxx for MSc in xxxxx
Me: Yes
VO: Who will sponsor you
Me: I am on scholarship(checked my 1-20
VO: Anyone going with you
Me: No
VO: (handed a paper to me marking DHL Isolo) Pick your visa at the address circled.
Me: Thank you (No single document was requested...Not even GRE and TOEFL)

I never knew God will honour me this way. Brethren, join me in praising Him. I pray that "for as many as those who have been destined to study in the US, nothing shall stop you in Jesus' name" (Amen). All contributors in this forum, I am grateful to you. Shalom
wow!..This is the shortest interview I'v ever read on here. Congratulations bro and I pray for God's favour as I go get mine this morning.

I think it'll be best if you visit your bank and request for 'wire transfer' or better still, let the person send u a nigerian account details where u can pay in the naira equivalent of the sevis fee. The gurus to say more about sending money 2 US.

xron: How is SEVIS fee paid through money order or westrrn union..I need to pay mine to someone in the USA and how is the money sent to the person?
For those that want to pay sevis fee either in

instructions below.

coupon will be generated upon completion of
the form.

juntod: Wow.. I honestly didn't know about this service. How long does their delivery take?
3 to 4 working days
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part5 by Ashigolo(m): 4:26pm On Jun 28, 2014
juntod: FedEx will cost you at least 30k naira from the US to Nigeria (From my own experience though). I scheduled with FedEx here to pick it up from the school.
u can use TNT pickup service, its still the cheapest for now (12,260). They'll pick it up from the sch and send it to your adress in nigeria. PM me if u are interested, so I can give u their contact.

RexNdubest: Alright! Quite appreciate. So, how about sevis number. It has asterisk which implies it is compulsory to fill. However, I can't pay for sevis without my i-20. That's what's holding me from continuing. What should I do?
your sevis no will be in this format 'N0012345678', d letter N followd by a 10 digit number. Type a number in that format as ur sevis no. Dnt worry u can update it as soon u get ur real sevis no. Pls its important ur I20 arrives on time as u can only update ur info till 5days to ur interview. Moreso, u dnt have to pay for sevis b4 u have a sevis id, it will be on ur I20. Hope that helps

slimmy05: How do I check if there are closer available dates without cancelling the appointment
I'm not really sure its possible coz I experienced same. I think one can view d earliest appointment date only if one has not scheduled.

RexNdubest: Ok, tnx very much.
However, I can't complete my DS-160 without Sevis ID.
Is DS-160 confirmation number same with the application ID (ten characters made up of letters & nos) I got when I registered?
yea its d same. U'r always welcome

RexNdubest: Good day guru's in the room. Kindly help me out by answering this my question.
I'm expecting my I-20 form from Upenn latest first week of July. Meanwhile, the first available appointment is July 23rd (I just checked it).
My question is if it's possible for me to schedule my appointment prior to getting my I-20 form? And how? thanks for ur quick responses!
Yea its possible. If u'v started filling your ds-160, use the confirmation number to schedule your appointment. And don't worry this can still be updated if it happens that the confirmation number changes. You can then submit your ds-160 and pay your sevis fee as soon as your I20 arrives. The gurus in the house will say more about it.

ebjay: Dear Nairalanders

God is good. My student visa was approved on Tuesday 24th June 2014 I Lagos after 2 vista refusals in April and September 2013.
These were my odds
1. No standardised test written as GRE was not required for my course and TOFEL was not required for Nigeria.
2. My I20 stated $41k approximately 6.7million and I went for d interveiw with SOA of 1million.
3. I filled my cousin's details in Maryland as where I would stay during the period of my course because Indy previous application I had indicated of existence.
4. I am single and without a child.
congratulations brother.
