What about the aged crisis between communities in kwara state

The decades long land crisis between Erin-ile and Offa community.

The tussle between Share and Tsaragi nko?

The most annoying part of it is that several courts verdict has been given regards to Erin-lle/Offa community land dispute, from high Court to Appeal court to Supreme Court .
And judgments were given in favor of Erin-ile, but till now no implementation of judgment and this has allowed the continuing violating of the law.

The government is to be blamed for not implementing the supreme court judgment and allow this insane killing to continue in the two communities.
The truth is that offa will never concede defeat and despite that it widely known the fact that Erin-ile is the true owner of the land, simply because they know that we are in a lawless country.

Politics / Unknown Gunmen Attacked Lola Ashiru, APC Candidate 4 Kwara South Senatorial Dis by ASHIWAJU001: 7:47am On Feb 20, 2019
PRESS STATEMENT

Kwaran Decides: Unknown gunmen attacked Arch. Lola Ashiru, APC candidate for Kwara South Senatorial District.

Barely 24hours that the campaign ban was lifted by INEC, the APC candidate, Arch. Lola Ashiru was attacked at dusk in Ojoku by gunmen that are alleged to be PDP supporters.

Arch. Lola Ashiru and his entourage who were on campaign tour in Ojoku at Oyun Local Government had earlier departed Erin-Ile.

The perpetrators laid siege at the entrance of the palace of Olojoku of Ojoku when Arch. Lola Ashiru and his train were conversing with the Oba.

However, the attack started when Arch. Lola Ashiru was stepping out of the Oba’s Palace, the hoodlums threw stones like rain followed by sporadic gunshots from all areas and corners adjacent to the palace.

Many were injured by the gunshots, two died while three persons are missing and yet to be found.

The back-screen of a sienna car was shot, the front screen conveying Arch. Lola Ashiru was shoot while he escaped unhurt, also several other cars were damaged by the hoodlums.

It is imperative for the general public to know that, as at the time of the barbaric event, Sen. Rafiu Ibrahim was at Awrab Suites in Offa, which is 15kilometers away to Ojoku, and he flee away from the hotel passing through General hospital, Offa, when some victims were receiving treatment.

However, an anonymous confirmed that two Hilux with strangers came into Ojoku around 4pm and were lodged in a storey building adjacent to the palace by the PDP women leader in Ojoku ward. This was the same house the hoodlums shoots from.

The Olojoku of Ojoku expressed great shock and felt so bad that this could happen in his territory and that his subjects could laid siege on prominent personality disregarding his stool and his authority.

The incident has been reported to the Area Command, Ilemona. The securities had since swung into action.

*Gov Ahmed sues for calm over S-Court judgement on land dispute*

News / Comments

Ilorin—Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State has urged the people of Erin-Ile and Offa to remain calm, following the Supreme Court judgement over the protracted boundary dispute involving the two communities.

Ahmed made the appeal in Ilorin, Wednesday, through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Dr. Muyideen Akorede.

News Agency of Nigeria recalls that the nation’s apex court on December 14, 2018, affirmed its decision of December 10, 1973 that the disputed parcel of land at the boundary between the two communities belonged to Erin-Ile.

The judgement would lead to the forfeiture of the land on which the ultra-modern Offa Descendants Union Secretariat, Avalon Hotels and some Federal Government’s institutions, including the Federal Polytechnic, Offa and PHCN substation, among other structures, were sited.

The governor further urged the communities to refrain from publishing or circulating unauthorised interpretations of the latest judgement.

He gave assurance that the state government would employ dialogue as a means of finding an amicable and sustainable solution to the dispute.

He also promised that the government would continue to take measures that would guarantee the welfare and security of lives and property of the entire citizenry.

He said that consultations were ongoing between the government and some prominent leaders of the two communities on how best to resolve the issue beyond the court judgment.

The governor therefore urged the people not to panic but go about their lawful activities without any fear of molestation.

He described Erin-Ile and Offa as peace loving, age-long neighbours, who shared a commitment toward developing their areas in an atmosphere of mutual trust and peaceful co-existence.

He promised that his administration would leave no stone unturned in its efforts to ensure that peace and harmony prevailed in the area.

Federal Polytechnic Offa, a PHCN sub-station and other important property hitherto belonging in Offa communities may be ceded to Erin-Ile community as the Supreme Court ratified a 45-year-old judgment in favour of the latter.

The age-long boundary dispute, which had led to communal clashes and loss of lives between Offa and Erin-Ile communities in Kwara State, may be renewed as Erin-Ile community vows to implement the newly confirmed judgement of the Supreme Court.

The latest action of the Erin-Ile community followed the recent judgement of the Supreme Court on December 14, 2018, which affirmed the same court’s decision of December 10, 1973 that the parcel of land that formed the boundary between the two communities belongs to Erin-Ile.

The judgement, if executed, will lead to the takeover of lands on which the multimillion naira Offa Descendants Union Secretariat, Avalon Hotels, buildings and some Federal Government institutions such as the Federal Polytechnic, Offa and PHCN substation are sited.

But Offa Descendants Union has appealed to the Kwara State Government to “call the people of Erin-Ile to order,” alleging that the latter only wants to execute what ODU described as “fake judgement.”

In the suit number SC. 516/2012 between Mr. Abdulganiyu Adeniran, Mr. Abdulateef Aroyehun Lawal (for Adeniyi Apata Family of Offa) vs HRH Oba Abdulganiyu Ajibola Olusookun II Elerin of Erin-Ile, five justices of the court affirmed the report of the 1973 administrative judicial panel headed by Justice Daramola.

The lead judgement was read by Justice Mary Ukaego Peter-Odili.

Other justices included Olabode Rhodes-Vivour, Ejembi Eko, Paul Adamu Galumje and Sidi Dauda Bage.

Addressing a Press Conference, the National President of Erin-Ile Progressive Union, Samuel Olu Alabi, said, “We got a Supreme Court judgement December 10th that same

year confirming the boundary of Erin-Ile as far as NEPA office — the present Offa Descendants Union and several other places — as belonging to Erin-Ile.

“But, unlike in 1973 that we did not take steps, this time around, we will take necessary steps in accordance with the judgement. When and how we are going to do it is not yet determined.”

The Supreme Court in a unanimous decision has on Friday the 14th day of December, 2018 reaffirmed its 1973 judgment on the boundary dispute between the Erin-Ile and Offa communities of Kwara State.

In a lead judgment delivered by Justice Mary Peter-Odili with which the 4 other justices concurred, the court dismissed the appeal by the Offa community, holding that there must be an end to litigation, and that the boundary dispute cannot be reopened.

The court awarded #500,000 cost to the Erin-Ile community while reaffirming the Daramola Commission's Boundary of 1972 which was upheld by the same Supreme Court in its earlier judgment of the 10th day of December, 1973.

Politics / Kwara Governor Drops Senate Ticket Under Pressure. by ASHIWAJU001: 8:05am On Nov 25, 2018
The Governor of Kwara State, Abdulfatah Ahmed yesterday admitted that he might forego his senatorial ticket for Kwara South Senatorial District for the incumbent Sen. Abdulrafiu Ibrahim. He said the talks within the Dr. Bukola Saraki political family for him to step aside had been on for a while. He clarified that forsaking the ticket had nothing to do with the November 17 by-election into Ekiti/ Oke Ero/ Isin/ Irepodun Federal Constituency.

But findings confirmed that Saraki, who is the governor’s godfather, directed Ahmed to forget his ambition after the defeat. Although Saraki had initially favoured Abdulrafiu but Ahmed sent many PDP governors to his godfather to concede the ticket to him. The governor’s first political test after securing the ticket was election into the Federal constituency which was fatal for PDP.

A PDP source said: “Our leader has taken the senatorial ticket away from the governor because he cannot afford to take any risk. The slot is now for the present occupant of the seat, Sen. Abdulrafiu Ibrahim. What we are trying to do is to give the governor a soft landing. We do not want it to appear as if the governor is being humiliated. To get the ticket, the governor sent emissaries to our leader. It has now turned out that the shoe is bigger than him because 2019 poll is really testy for us.

“Our leader has been in the state in the past 48 hours to put things in order since he will serve as the Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council of PDP. If you leave your pot unwatched, your food will get burnt.”

But Governor Ahmed has denied speculations that the Kwara South Senatorial ticket has been “retrieved from him on account of the last House of Representatives bye-election results in the state.” Ahmed, in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Dr. Muyideen Akorede, described as “politically motivated mischief the rumours that he has been asked to step down due to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s loss of the Ekiti/ Oke Ero/ Irepodun bye-election.

The statement said: “The Governor said, on the contrary, consultation had been going on before the November 17 elections within the political family to consider the request by the leadership of the Ibolo division of Kwara South, from where the current Senator hails, for a second tenure at the Senate

“Furthermore, he said that the ongoing consultation was based on the view that the Igbomina and Ekiti divisions had successfully served two terms in the Senate as opposed to the Ibolo division whose representative had served only one term in the Senate.

“While describing the last by-election as a farcical exercise marked by voter intimidation, widespread disenfranchisement and the use of security agencies against PDP supporters and members, Ahmed said the result of such a disputed election could, therefore, not have formed the basis of a review of his candidacy for the Kwara South Senatorial elections. He assured that PDP will win the general elections in the state as the people of Kwara have resolved never to allow such harassment by security agents again.”

A separate statement by the State Publicity Secretary of PDP, Tunde Ashaolu, confirmed that the party was weighing options on the demand of Ibolo people to give a second term ticket to the incumbent Sen. Abdulrafiu Ibrahim. The statement said: “The attention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has been drawn to a misleading media report insinuating that there is panic in the camp of Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki and that Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed is under pressure to withdraw from the Kwara South senatorial race as a result of the aftermath of last Saturday’s by-election in Ekiti/Oke-Ero/Isin/Irepodun federal constituency.

“This is totally untrue, ridiculous and a deliberate mischief orchestrated by some unscrupulous elements and political jobbers who are bent on causing confusion within the party and among our leaders. For the avoidance of doubt, there is no tension whatsoever within the fold of the PDP in Kwara State and there is no pressure on Governor Ahmed to drop his senatorial ambition because of the outcome of the recently held bye-election in the state.

“The party however, notes that there are ongoing consultations and pleas by leadership of the Ibolo axis of Kwara South, where the current senator representing the senatorial district, Dr Rafiu Ibrahim hails from, for the party’s senatorial ticket to be retained in the axis in the interest of fairness and equity in the distribution political offices within the district.

“It is instructive to note that these consultations and pleas preceded the November 17 by-election and are based on the understanding that the Igbomina and Ekiti divisions of Kwara South had produced senators who served two terms in the Senate as opposed to the Ibolo division whose representative had only served one term.

“This was the sole observation raised by the stakeholders during all their consultative meetings with the national leader of our party and Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed and other leaders of the PDP in the State.

“It is, therefore, ridiculous for anybody to think that the outcome of an election that does not reflect the will of the people, as it was marred with widespread irregularities including intimidation of voters, ballot box snatching and illegal arrest of PDP members, could lead to the withdrawal of Governor Ahmed from the senatorial race.

“The party thereby urges members and supporters of the PDP as well as the general public to disregard the fake report which was sponsored and planted in the media by unscrupulous elements and fifth columnists.

“Ahmed is a prominent leader of our party and has always placed the party’s interest above his personal interest. More so, he has provided exemplary leadership since he assumed office in 2011 and has created enduring legacies that have placed Kwara on a path of sustainable development.

“Among the enduring legacies of Governor Ahmed, which are products of foresight and vision, are the establishment of the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS) and the Kwara Infrastructural Development Fund (IF-K). Without doubt, these initiatives have had great impacts on the development of the state ".

Politics / NYSC SAGA! Saraki To Dump Atunwa by ASHIWAJU001: 6:57am On Oct 31, 2018
Saraki to dump Atunwa

*It is an after thought, it won’t work – opposition
*Atunwa may visit Police next week to explain NYSC saga
Authoritative sources close to the leader of the Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Bukola Saraki, who is the Senate President has revealed that he may have dumped his initial preference Hon Razaq Atunwa for the NYSC saga and may be opting for Hon Aliyu Bahago Ahman-Pategi

Atunwa who was caught with overwhelming evidences of forging an NYSC discharge certificate and also perjured by lying on oath is certainly a cul-de-sac and in order not to lose out was quietly schemed out and in replacement, “the leader sought for a very loyal partyman and also to meet the yearning needs of equity and balance gave the slot to Kwara North,” said our source.

Even in considering the three final shortlisted candidates that were presented to him, it was obvious that the former governor of the State, Senator Mohammed Sha’aba Lafiagi, can only do one term. He wanted someone who can do two terms. The choice between him (Ahman-Pategi) and Hon Zakari Mohammed tilted more on the side of Bahago.

Any moment from now, you will hear the news that Ahman-Pategi is the new replacement for Atunwa. Hon Ahman-Pategi presently is a member of the National Assembly representing the Edu, Moro and Patigi constituencies in the House of Representatives.

An opposition leader who said, “it is not yet time to talk. The substitution shows that the PDP is in deep trouble. Their choice is a fake candidate. A master forger and liar. He was a cab driver in London driving Dr Olusola Saraki. He was dressed in borrowed robes and brought here. Is he from Kwara State in the first place?

Let them bring Ahman-Pategi. It is just an after thought. Why was he not chosen in the first instance? Why are they not putting their best candidates forward? How can Ahman-Pategi be candidate in an election where Bolaji Abdullahi ran? Is Kwara not meant to have first class human resources as governor? With a free and fair election, without the ‘good boys’ assaulting people, we shall repeat the results of the last local government election for them. At least, Ajidagba (the chairman of the state electoral commission) will not be available to change results.

However, alternative sources say that the Police may have concluded plans “to invite Hon Razaq Atunwa to come and explain the NYSC scandal now touted as Atunwagate. He may be visiting the Police for a friendly chat next week. There are possibilities that he may be facing criminal trial from what we gathered,” said our source.
Whatever may be the case, the truth is that the leader of PDP in the state, who is the Senate President is biting his finger out of confusion and consequently put the entire members and leaders into serious pandemonium in the state.

Politics / Apc -kwara State Apparent Injustice. by ASHIWAJU001: 5:47pm On Oct 16, 2018
APC - KWARA STATE APPARENT INJUSTICE

Earlier this year when we heard that some people might leave our great party in Kwara State, some of us were of the view that the freedom and ability to choose elected officers has come to berth on the Kwara state political shore.

When eventually it happened we breath a air of freshness and anticipated emancipation. However, the events that occurred in quick succession erased the hope and aspirations that earlier filled our heart.

First was the hurried removal of the Ishola Fulani Executive committee and their replacement with a committee headed by Bashiru Bolarin (BOB). Whether by design or error, it became apparent that most party executive positions were deliberately earmarked for some persons Rather than adopt direct election to pick the party executives who would be instrumental to the election/adoption of Local Government as well as State Executive, they were picked on so called consensus basis. Although there is nothing wrong in a consensus arrangement, but it is wrong when those consulted are one sided with a pre determined motive to scheme the other side out of reckoning.

Hence, there are still rumblings in many Local Government on account of non resolution of party executives. There are also grumbling son the compositional.
The distribution of State Executive is even worse. For instance, in Oyun Local Government where I came from there is not substantive position allotted to us while some Local Governments had two or more substantive positions. When we asked, it was explained away that the directive was from Abuja.

As if the above was not enough, the primaries conducted cannot be said to be fair. It is apparent that those in charge had their personal agenda. Prior to the dates of the primaries, rumors were rife that some positions had been reserved for some aspirants. However, by virtue of the fact that most of us remained in APC to break loose from the dictatorial arrangement in the other party, we find it difficult to believe, such rumour as we cannot leave Egypt and head to another Egypt.

However, while the pronouncements of those in charge were assuring enough to lure many aspirants into the fray, their body languages till date indicate otherwise. On the primaries, Information were hoarded, criteria were changed, dates of events were varied all to strangulate those without godfather in Abuja.

APC members in the state went to work, some aspired to be Governor, Senate or House of Representative member and house of Assembly member. They burn their energies, resources and time to achieve their legitimate ambitions. But as soon the primaries were held, the friendly dispositions of those in charge changed and quickly became inaccessible, arrogant and unpredictable.

In my area Oyun/Offa/Ifelodun Federal constituencies is yet to be announced. Those in charge are trying to thwart the success recorded by Engr. Ismail Tijani who worn the primaries. We heard that another candidate who was not even a runner up in the primaries is being considered by the party as the candidate. In view of the fact that copies of the ward by ward result are available it will be a sheer waste of time to circumvent the wish of the majority of the party members in that constituency.

From the benefit of the hindsight, it is now clear to me why gubernatorial Aspirants’ Agents were not allowed to make copies of the gubernatorial candidates Primaries election results. They have leant the difficulties they were encountering in falsifying the Senate and House of Representative primaries. Hence, the Party electoral team thT came to conduct the primaries were told to disallow Aspirants agents from having copies of the result.

Let all well meaning APC members in position of authority, intervene by directing that the victory of Engr. Ismail Tijani be restored back to him. Anything short of this will be tantamount to injustice and perversion of rights which will not stand the test of law.

In conclusion with the way things are going let no member of APC in Kwara State think our party has arrived. We are are still in the trenches courtesy of those few who feel they are above the majority.

but brother I thought they went on direct primary where all card carrier member of the party were privileged to chose their choice, so the fact that prof Oba won at your ward doesn't mean that he has won the election.
Although am never a fan of Abdulraman but I believe prof can still reclaimed his mandate if truly he was cheated.
I stand corrected.
