President Buhari coming to Lagos on Monday, state govt advises residents on traffic diversions Read the press statement below.. "The Lagos State Government will formally welcome President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, May 23, 2016 on a two-day working visit to the State. It will be President Buhari's first official visit to the state since he assumed office about a year ago. " A statement issued by the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, stated that this is the first time in about 15years that a sitting President will be visiting the State on a working visit and is a testimony to the landmark achievements in the last one year of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode as well as the good working relationship between Lagos State and the Federal Government. Ayorinde added that President Buhari during the visit, would formally commission the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Rescue Unit in Cappa Oshodi built by the State Government to ensure prompt and swift response to emergency situations in the State. He said the President would thereafter commission the newly constructed Ago Palace Way in Okota, Isolo after which he will pay homage to the Oba of Lagos, His Royal Majesty, Oba Babatunde Rilwanu Aremu Akiolu at the Iga Iduganran, Lagos Island. The Commissioner disclosed further that the President would later in the day be hosted to a reception rally by the State Government at the Tafawa Balewa Square, (TBS) Lagos where he will also commission and hand over security equipment and vehicles contributed by the Governor Akinwunmi Ambode- led administration to securities agencies to beef up security in the state. The release added that activities for the first day of the President’s visit would be rounded up with a State Banquet in his honour at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island. The President will on Tuesday participate as the Special Guest of Honour at a breakfast session with Corporate Lagos to be hosted by Governor Ambode at the Lagos State House, Marina, after which he will have a short session with the public service at the State House, Alausa-Ikeja. The Commissioner quoted Governor Akinwunmi Ambode as being joyous over this landmark presidential visit to the State that contributed so much to his emergence as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He added that Lagosians are looking forward with excitement to receive the President in the State, just as he urged residents to bear with law enforcement agents and traffic control authorities who will effect road diversions in some of the routes that the President motorcade will pass through during the visit. The spokesperson for Egypt's military said on Friday morning
that passengers belongings and wreckage from crashed
EgyptAir flight MS804 had been found north of Alexandria.
The plane was en route to Cairo from Charle de Gaulle Airport
in Paris on Wednesday when it disappeared from radar over
the Mediterranean Sea, shortly after entering Egyptian
airspace.
The military said in a statement that it detected parts of
debris and some of the passengers’ belongings while
searching for the aircraft's black box, according to Reuters.
The army's statement, posted on its official Facebook page,
adds that the search operation is under way, involving naval
vessels and military aircraft.
President Adbel Fattah al-Sisi expressed his condolences to
families of those on board, signifying that it is considered
unlikely that any of the people on board survived.
"The presidency, with utmost sadness and regret, mourns the
victims on aboard the EgyptAir flight who were killed after the
plane crashed in the Mediterranean on its way back to Cairo
from Paris," a statement from Sisi's office was quoted by
Reuters as saying.
EgyptAir has confirmed on its Twitter account that debris and
personal belongings were found 295km away from the coast
of Alexandria. The airline also tweeted condolences to the
families of the victims.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC on
Thursday, May 19, 2016, arraigned one Emmanuel Emelife on
a 16 count charge bothering on conspiracy, diversion of funds
and obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of
N56,000,000.00, before Honourable Justice D. A. Onyefunu of
Anambra State High Court, Awka.
The case was reported via a petition by Oba Sir Larry Nwagwu
who is a member of Uruoji Village Meeting, Nri, Anambra
State alongside other concerned villagers alleging that on
assumption of office on the 5th of May, 2012, they observed
with dismay that the sum of N56,000,000.00 has been
plundered by the suspect, the former chairman and his
treasurer, Fabian Nwonwu who is now bedridden from Village
Meeting accounts domiciled in Nri Micro Finance Bank and
Union Bank Awka respectively without due process between
January 2009 to December 2011.
According to the petitioner all effort made for the suspects to
officially handover and render accounts of their stewardship
for over twelve years proved abortive. Investigations carried
out on the case revealed that there was huge inflow of funds
to both accounts following various dues ranging from
N15,000,000 to N30,000,000 levied on every adult allegedly

NFF bans Chris Giwa and 4 others for 5 years,
orders his club Giwa FC to pay N3.9m fine
The Disciplinary committee of the Nigeria Football Federation,
today held an extra-ordinary congress in Abuja and made
some interesting decisions.
Chris Giwa, the factional self-imposed leader of the NFF, was
banned alongside four others by the football body while his
football club Giwa FC has been ordered to pay N3.9m in total
for offences committed against the League management
company and breach of NFF rules. Read the press statement

In the matter between LMC Vs. Giwa FC on Match Day 12;
Match No: 115, the Committee Rules as Follows:
That the decision of the LMC as contained in the Summary
Jurisdiction Notice dated Thursday 28th April, 2016 is hereby
upheld by the Nigeria Football Federation Disciplinary
Committee.
That Giwa FC shall pay a fine of N2,000,000 (Two Million
Naira Only) to the LMC
III. That Giwa FC shall pay the Sum of N650,000 to offset the
expenses of the match officials to the LMC
That Giwa FC shall pay the Sum of N1, 000,000 (One Million
Naira) Only to offset the expenses incurred by Rangers
International FC
That an order that the match, which lasted for 74 minutes,
shall count as a completed fixture i.e the goals so far
recorded (0-1) shall be the final score for the match. This is
pursuant to Rule B13.55 which states that ‘ the LMC may
order a league match which for whatever reason lasts for less
than 90 minutes to count as a completed fixture or to be
replayed’
In the matter between LMC Vs. Giwa FC on Match Day 14;
Match No: 136, the Committee Rules as Follows:
That the decision of the LMC as contained in the Summary
Jurisdiction Notice dated Tuesday 3rd May, 2016 is hereby
upheld by the Nigeria Football Federation Disciplinary
Committee.
That in line with Rule B 13:25 of the Frame Work and Rules of
the NPFL the Committee Rules that Giwa FC shall forfeit to
Wikki Tourists FC the three points as well as three goals
arising from the match
III. Giwa FC shall pay a fine of N250,000 (Two Hundred and
Fifty Thousand Naira Only) being the sum of expenses
including stadium hire, security and logistics incurred in
respect of the match to the LMC.
In the matter between: Nigeria Football Federation and
CHRISTOPHER GIWA and MUAZU SULEYMAN, YAHAYA
ADAMA, SANI FEMA, JOHNSON EFFIONG
After reviewing the charges, available facts and evidence, the
NFF Disciplinary Committee hereby finds as follows:
That Christopher Giwa, Muazu Suleyman, Yahaya Adama, Sani
Fema and Johnson Effiong are found guilty of Illegally
representing the NFF in breach of Art. 40 of the NFF Statutes,
when they without due authorization and mandate purported
to contract a Law Firm, Messrs Leslie Cohen & Associates of
Illovo Law Chambers, 4 Fricker Road, Ground Floor, South
Africa in the name of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and
refused to pay for services whereby the said Messrs Leslie
Cohen & Associates commenced proceedings against the
NFF for the sum of $100000 being legal fees for professional
services rendered in the High Court of South Africa, Gauteng
Local Division, Johannesburg.
That Christopher Giwa, Muazu Suleyman, Yahaya Adama, Sani
Fema and Johnson Effiong are found guilty of breaching Art.
69(1) of the NFF Statutes by taking football matters to the
ordinary court and failing to submit to the jurisdiction of FIFA
and the NFF.
III. That there is insufficient particulars and evidence
submitted to establish the charge of threats, unguarded,
uncouth and uncivilized statements in the media against the
NFF, brought against Christopher Giwa, Muazu Suleyman,
Yahaya Adama, Sani Fema and Johnson Effiong
That Christopher Giwa is guilty of breach of the general rules
of conduct as contained in Art. 13 of the FIFA Code of Ethics
when he invaded the premises of the Nigeria Football
Federation and falsely presented himself as President of the
NFF on 6th May, 2016.
That Christopher Giwa, Muazu Suleyman, Yahaya Adama, Sani
Fema and Johnson Effiong are found guilty of failing to
comply fully with the Statutes, regulations, directives and
decisions of FIFA and NFF in contravention of Art. 13 1(a) of
NFF Statutes 2010 in relation to the NFF Election held in Warri
Delta State on 30thSeptember, 2014.
That Christopher Giwa, Muazu Suleyman, Yahaya Adama, Sani
Fema and Johnson Effiong are in breach of fiduciary and
loyalty as contained in Art. 15 of FIFA Code of Ethics 2012 by
carrying out various deliberate acts and conducts capable of
attracting a ban from FIFA on the NFF capable of putting the
administration and development of football in Nigeria into
jeopardy.
Based on the findings above and in Line with the provision of
Art. 65 (3) of the NFF Statutes 2010, the NFF Disciplinary
Committee hereby pronounces the following sanctions on the
following persons:
Christopher Giwa, Muazu Suleyman, Yahaya Adama, Sani
Fema and Johnson Effiong are hereby banned from taking
part in any football related activity for a period of Five (5)
years each.

Weeks after the University of Lagos (UNILAG) closed down
due to a strike by the students over their living conditions, the
University Senate at its emergency meeting held today Friday,
April 22, directed that the institution should resume full
academic activities on Monday, May 2, 2016, with
examinations commencing the week after. Students however
have to adhere to the few conditions stated on their website.

'Visit the University website www.unilag.edu.ng and download
the Undertaking and Indemnity Form.
· Students are to complete the Undertaking Form and get it
notarized.
· Parents and Guardians are to complete the Parents
Indemnity Form.
· Completed Undertaking Form which must be notarized and
Parent’s Indemnity Form should be submitted at the various
Departments and a clearance obtained. The clearance would
be required to gain access into examination halls.
· Students accommodated in halls of residence are to obtain
a clearance from the Departmental Officer which must be
presented at the halls of residence to gain access into their
rooms from Monday, May 2, 2016.
· Students are expected to visit the University website from
Friday, April 22, 2016 and complete the clearance process on
or before Monday, May 2, 2016.
· Examinations would commence from Monday, May 9, 2016.
Consequently, students are expected to generate their
examination dockets and ensure it is duly endorsed by their
Course Advisers between Monday, April 25 and Monday, May
2, 2016.
· No student would be readmitted without completing the
above process.
- The University would endeavour to provide electricity in the
various halls of residence between the hours of 7.00 pm and
7.00 am daily. The boreholes in the hostels would continue to
provide water supply to the hostels until normal supply from
the Lagos State Water Corporation resumes.
- Examination commences on Monday, May 9, 2016. Students
are to confirm their examination time-table from the various

Former Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Adesola Amosu, has reportedly returned N2.3 billion to the federal government. Amosun and over nine air force officers are currently under investigation for their alleged involvement in arms procurement fraud. According to Sahara Reporters, a source at EFCC who spoke on condition of anonymity said “I can confirm to you that Amosu has returned N2.3b. He raised two bank drafts. One draft was N2b while the second was N300m”. Amosun who was arrested in January 2016, has forfeited some of his houses worth N500m to the antigraft agency. Also $140,000 has also been reportedly recovered from him.
