It has been a routine fÓr defeated aspirants under the banner of ÀD/AC/APC in Lagos to form a group to condemn the primaries since 2003. In fact, 2007 witnessed loads of "self acclaimed" political heavyweights walking out of the party after Fashola's emergence.. The question is are they really heavyweights? Do they have valid argument?
Bola Tinubu is the strongman of Lagos and South West Politics. Majority of politicians in Lagos state rode to prominence through his political sagacity irrespective of the party they are now. Is it Obanikoro that became commissioner and later Senator under BATCO? Or is it Ikufuriji? Is it GOS that rode to the House of Reps and later Senate on a platter of gold courtesy Tinubu? Is it Hamzat that became politically prominent as commissioner under Tinubu? Is it Fashola that has no political structure in 2007? Name them. Sen Bola Tinubu is still in firm control of Lagos Political Machinery, his followers are scattered in the grassroot. He has helped lots of politicians attain prominence and popularity. You can't upstage him in his own turf(APC) within few months. What happened yesterday was a message of, "you guys thought you were strong, learn from this humiliation". They all should chill and work with the party. Ambode is very credible, with him we have a distinctive governor of Lagos State.
