Business / What Do You Think About Www.all4naija.com by astinno(m): 1:08pm On Jul 10, 2011
It is true that the best way to determine if you are structuring your business for maximum impact is to seek the opinion of other people especially those in your target market.

To get this opinion, it is usually very easy to ask friends, colleagues at work and family members about what they think,  but the problem with this channel of inquiry is that one will always wonder if they are biased due to their affiliation with you. Are they just overly excited like you or are they just "playing nice" because they are afraid to hurt your feelings,

This problem is the reason I am posing this question to the over 700,000 subscribers of nairaland today, What do you think about www.all4naija.com ?

Some questions I will like to jump around in your mind while checking it out is,
Is the message from the all4naija website site clear?
Are the pages easy to navigate?
Did you find a broken link?
Does the site give you a feeling of comfort or are red flags jumping over the place ?
Is there something you feel can be done better?

Thanks all and know that I really appreciate whatever opinion I get,  Once again the URL to the site is all4naija.com

Hello Guys,

Just got admission into the Uni of Houston for Summer session, Still waiting on the rest.

Called TAMU, they said they havent made a decision on my case, but a lot of applicants have already been denied, so I am still hoping for something good.

Hey Guys wats your opinion about Texas Tech University for Petroleum Engineering?

I already applied to TAMU, Tulsa, Uni of Oklahoma, LSU, Uni of Houston and now am thinking of adding Texas Tech to the list

Do u know anyone who has studied there before?

Ijecs:

I have been seeing adverts and also hearing it from pple. What is toefl and gre ?pls are there any international exams available for undergraduates.and u guys should pls remember answering my question b/c i saw some of the questions u guys skipped.

They are both standard tests you need to write to show your competency in English language and suitabililty of Graduate study in the US and Canada. For more info, visit, ww.ets.org.

SEFAGO:

Include LSU for trial lol. I dont know many petroleum engineering safety. PET is very competitive

Yeah, this Petroleum is just unbelievably competitive. I will take your advise and add LSU to my list, I would have love to re-write the GRE but I cant becuase of my work schedule. I only had 2 weeks to prepare for the last one, when I got an impromptu vacation.

I have also decided to re-write my LOR to focuss on some of my professional achievements. I plan to retract the one I already sent to TAMU. I called them and they asked me to send the new one via email. Do you see any downside in this?

I actually work for Schlumberger, have written 2 SPE Papers, gotten some letters of award, Do you think any of this will help?

Forumid, yeah regarding to your question, am switching from Mech to Pet Engr becuase thats where I have my work experience.

your switching from mech engr to pet engr?
nice profile but your chances wud ve been brighter if your gre score and gpa were higher, considering that you are aiming for the top schs(tamu,uh,OU,TU), maybe > or = 4.0/5 gpa and a gre math score of >730, great SOP and lor wud make a great application, try picking safe schs and adding it to the lis, ok
so u wont be too disapntd but i'm sure u have a good chance tho not very bright enuf, gud luck!

myforumid3,

Thanks for the feedback. I guess am not too surprised about your comments on the GPA and GRE scores.

What other safe schools do you recommend?

Hello Guys,

I Have been reading this thread and I must say its a very good one.

I am also planning to do a Masters in Petroluem Engineering in the US and after seeing the scores being reported here, the fear wey dey catch me no be small,

Anyway here is my profile, please I need input on how good my chances are:

- Mechanical Engr Graduate from Uniben.
- Cum GPA of 3.8/5
- GRE Scores : Q=710, V = 560
- TOEFL iBT = 114/120
- 5 years work experience with Oil service comp.
- Underwent a lot of trainings that covered good portions of the masters curriculum
- Came out top 3 in most of my training courses.
- My LOR is from my training instructors in the US and somes bosses, and I think they are quite good

I am applying to TAMU, University of Tulsa, Okhlahoma University and after reading this thread, Univesity of Houston.

Please guys can you comment on my chances. I am especially worried about my GRE scores and GPA,
Career / Re: Two Offers: A Banking Job And An Engineering Job by astinno(m): 10:05am On Feb 14, 2008
Guy, my advice is simple.!

Look at people who what spent 3-5 years in each of the companies, then ask yourself a basic question.

Which of this guys can you tolerate yourself as being in 3-5 years time? I used the word TOLERATE because I see both options as being close to the worse case scenerio. the worse case scenerio being you are fired before the 3-5 years time.

Best scenerio being your heart desires are fulfilled, good luck my bro.
Autos / Re: Honda 'End Of Discussion': Is The V6 Engine Inferior To The I4? by astinno(m): 9:52am On Feb 14, 2008
Ivvie  and Midas02. Both of you are missing one important aspect of technical arguments!!!

Quote your references as you make your arguments. That way other mechanical engineers like me  that appreciates your angle of reasoning can check up your reference and better understand you point of view in addition to the fact that references gives more substance to your arguments.
Religion / Re: Preaching In Commercial Buses: by astinno(m): 3:19pm On Jan 28, 2008
smallworld, your remember the story of a man that probably didnt fit the picture  of  a xtian, but check a story I have been told as well.

A man was preaching in a bus. Amongst the passengers was a nursing mother and a mallam. when he was preaching the mallam xpressed his displeasure and he was shouted and hushed down by other passengers so he kept quiet. After a  while he said he was coming down from the vehicle. As he did he brushed on the baby who was  being breast fed. " Note the mother was one of those that shouted on him the most". After the bus had continued moving for a few minutes,  the mother noticed her baby wasnt sucking any more. initially she was thought the baby was sleeping then she noticed the baby wasnt breathing either, that was when she screamed. In the midst of the hola baloo that ensued, the preacher took the baby from the wailing mother and started praying in a loud voice. naturally everyone joined in the prayer with choruses of amen here and there. after about 1hr of praying people started giving up and the mother's wailing was even louder.

after a while the pastor stopped praying but he still held on to the baby, then he started cryin softly, as  the first set of tears dropped from his face, another passenger noticed tears coming out from the baby's eyes as well, then suddenly the baby gave a beautiful wail, i guess u know the rest of the story,
