2. Keyword stuffing now works against you.

Repeating the same phrase over and over used to help. Modern ATS platforms now flag that as suspicious. One well written achievement-focused line now scores higher than five keyword repetitions with no context behind them.

3. Multi column CV layouts confuse the parser.

Those nice looking two column templates with a skills sidebar? ATS reads left to right across the whole page and mixes everything up. Single column is back for a reason.

4. Progress bars and skill graphics register as zero.

If your CV has a bar showing "85% proficient in Excel," ATS software cannot read that graphic. Your proficiency shows up as nothing.

5. Hiding your Nigerian location for international jobs is usually a mistake.

Many global employers hire within specific time zones. Listing Lagos, Nigeria with your +234 number actually signals timezone fit, not a liability.
