President Muhammadu Buhari has blamed the country’s current slide into worst economic recession since 1987 on COVID-19 pandemic.

The President said this while declaring open the 26th Nigerian Economic Summit themed “Building Partnerships for Resilence”.

President Buhari who was represented by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, said that the decline in the nation’s Gross Domestic Product came after 12 succesive quarters of positive growth.

The Nigeria economy has now officially hit its worst recession in over three decades.

This makes it the second consecutive quarterly Gross Domestic Product (GDP) decline since the recession of 2016.

According to GDP numbers released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Saturday, November 21, the nation recorded a contraction of 3.62% in the third quarter of 2020.

Two (2) suspects have been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for trafficking 16.65kg of cocaine from the Republic of Brazil to Nigeria.

The two suspects identified as Aniakor Uchenna James and Okwubunne Chidiebere Simeon, were both arrested on October 28, 2020, on their arrival at the Muritala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

Two (2) suspects who allegedly duped an Indian doctor into buying a fake 'Aladdin's Lamp' for a whooping $93,000 sum have been arrested.

The two suspects also conjured up a fake "genie", sources disclose.

An 11-years-old boy has been allegedly arrested by the Edo State Police Command over alleged involvement in the attack on a police station at the Evbuotubu area of Benin city, Edo.

Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC), Umar Danbatta, has disclosed plans by the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy to reduce the cost of data plan per Gigabyte from N1,000 to N390.

This was disclosed on Saturday, October 24, while addressing journalists in Kano state.

Danbatta disclosed that part of the plan was the new national broadplan for the year 2020-2025, which speculates that Nigeria must provide broadband connectivity.
